How to equip a fishing rod without rings. Fly rod - what is it and how to equip it? The choice of bait when fishing with a swing rod

The fly rod is considered the most effective float rod for fishing small fish, of all kinds. This is achieved by the speed of casting and pulling the rig. And it is inferior in quality control over the rig, only a plug.

Fly rods are universal tackle that can be used for different fishing methods, and different types fish: crucian carp, bastard, ide, rudd. By the type of connection, they can be divided into:

  • plug;
  • telescopic.

Fishing is usually carried out only in the coastal zone of the reservoir in the middle and short distance... The fishing process is short, depending on the length of the rod, posting the rig through the water, followed by its control: holding and stopping. When the rod is lightweight, it is easier to cast multiple, accurate casts over long periods of time. The main advantage of such fishing is the ability to quickly re-cast, which is especially important with a strong bite.

Rod types

They have a fairly wide range of applications, and therefore are endowed with many different modifications. Each of which has only its inherent features.

There are 3 main types:

  • Classic... The most common length is up to 13 m. Very powerful, thanks to its design and the flexibility of the material used, you can easily pull out a trophy even in 5 kg.
  • Uleechnoye... They received this name, after repeated sporting events where bleak was caught on them. The length reaches 4 m. They are quite light and thin. The handle is made of high quality materials, has a slight thickening up to 30 cm. This thickening is made to increase comfort.
  • Carp... They did not receive much distribution due to the very big size: from 7 to 14 m. Quite heavy, so they usually catch fish from special racks.

Criterias of choice

Chosen according to the following criteria:

  • The rod knees should be long.
  • The more joints there are, the heavier it is and, therefore, the system will be worse.
  • The thinner the butt diameter is, the higher its class will be, and, therefore, the best tuning.
  • You need to pay attention to the tip of the rod, the thinner it is, the better.

Material

Now it is mainly used: composite, fiberglass, carbon fiber.

Fiberglass - this is the most budgetary option, and from this, probably not very successful, it has:

  • large mass;
  • insufficient elasticity and strength.

Composite consists of a mixture of fiberglass and carbon fiber. The content of all components will depend on: strength and rigidity. These data of the form will reduce its weight, while increasing the price proportionally. Quite a good option that will combine the individual characteristics of top models and affordability.

Carbon fiber(carbon) the most successful, which differs in:

  • weightlessness;
  • good strength;
  • excellent elasticity;
  • reliability;
  • durability.

Thanks to the fiber, it has a low specific gravity and high strength tension.

Graphite has a variety of markings, the best swings are made using graphite - IM-9, with a length of up to 11 m. Quite a long length, gives great advantages to owners, and ease of use, will help you enjoy fishing to the fullest. It has only one drawback - great fragility.

Test

The test is the ranges of cast weight that will be comfortable for the angler. An ideal test will provide:

  • the correctness of the throw;
  • the required range.

And the inconsistency of this test, its great exaggeration, may result in the breakdown of the form.

Build

The action of the rod directly depends on the stiffness index. It happens:

  • slow;
  • fast.

The level of hardness depends on the following indicators:

  • material;
  • strength of connections.

The smaller the knees, the more accurate the action will be: the dimensions of this blank should be proportional to the number of knees, for example, a blank of 5 knees will be 10 m long. A rod with excellent fast action will not sag or sag. When the rod has an excellent action, it will be able to hook the fish with one movement of the whip.

Length

Will vary from 3 to 14 m, divided into 4 categories:

  • Short- from 2-4 m, weight from 250-450 g.
  • Average- from 4-7 m, weight no more than 1.5 kg. This is a particularly popular category.
  • Long- from 8-11 m, for fishing, no more than 3 kg. They are in little demand and only for experienced fishermen.
  • Extra long- from 11-14 m, used mainly for competitions.

Weight

The weight should be as low as possible. This will allow fishermen to easily manipulate the whip.

Optimum performance:

  • length 2-4 m.
  • weight 110-130 gr.
  • weight 160-280 gr.

Balance

Basic sensations in timing: hooking, catching, casting and holding, are determined by knowing his balance. It must correspond to the dispersion of the mass of the blank over the length, and create a center of gravity at a certain point.

Throwing dynamics are also important, the smaller the residual fluctuation, the better. If the center of gravity is near the handle, then the rod is of high quality.

Power

Power parameters are rarely taken as separate characteristics.

By power, they are divided into:

  • medium-power;
  • ultralight;
  • powerful;
  • lungs;
  • medium-light.

Top

The last link of the rod has the name "tip" - this is the most bendable part of the blank, which plays the main role in hook-up. They are produced from elastic composites of a dissimilar composition, and in various modifications.

It is produced in 3 types:

  • reinforced;
  • hollow;
  • hybrid.

The most acceptable option is a one-piece reinforced whip.

Lower knee

The length of the main knee is important especially when transporting it. If we proceed directly from the thickness of the butt, then the blank can be different, it all depends on the material used: in carbon fiber, for example, the base section is equipped with a diameter of about 4 cm.

When the butt is fitted with specially designed ergonomic holders, it greatly relieves pressure and improves its grip.

The main elements of the tackle

For assembly you will need:

  • connector;
  • fishing line, of various thicknesses;
  • set of hooks;
  • set of weights;
  • several floats;
  • fishing line for a leash;
  • mount for the float.

Form

A high quality rod has:

  • the diameter of the handle is the smallest;
  • knees have long length, and the smallest number of laps.

The price for such models will be corresponding, very high. Because they use quality materials for their production, but this is a justified waste.

Fishing line

Mostly blind rigs are used, and with a thin line. The ideal line thickness is 0.1-0.2 mm. The line still needs to be equipped with a special leash:

  • 16-20 cm long;
  • with a diameter of no more than 1.3 mm.

Better yet, use monofilament. All connections are made, completely excluding the use of swivels and special carbines.

Float

Drop-shaped floats

When choosing a float, it is necessary to take into account the flow rate:

  • The lower the speed, the more sensitive the float is selected.
  • Intense currents require floats that are stable on the water.

A drop-shaped float is the best option... A special float is attached directly to the fishing line using cambric.

Loading and hooks

Sinkers are used lightweight, mostly rounded. The float is surrounded by small pellets, this is done for good stability. The main sinker is attached near the leash connection.

The leash is loaded with the so-called support of pellets, but not very heavy almost to the hook. Then the fish will be able to swallow the hook well.

Coil

On the rod not put coil.

Typically, small, primitive coil arrangements are used on medium-length blanks. They mainly serve only to store the line.

Installation of equipment

It is advisable to complete them immediately. different options rigs that will be suitable for different fishing conditions. This is done well in advance and is screwed onto the reel. It is imperative to have a couple of options for rigs, with different lengths of the main line.

It is used when removing the knee blank, will depend on:

  • the depth of the reservoir;
  • casting distance.

Tackle is made 27-35 cm less than the length of the blank. This is necessary for a good swing. Prepare several rigs at once: rod-shaped and rigs, which are completed with a rounded float.

But the most important thing is the options for loading the tackle, she sets several options for rigs for a variety of fishing:

  • To fish in all layers of water, a rig with a light weight is being built, several pellets are evenly distributed along the line. When casting, it goes to the bottom slowly, smoothly and along the way, it will lure all the fish from the upper water to the lower one.
  • To hunt for fish in the middle layers of water, you need to: place a load with the so-called disturbed uniformity, move the pellets a little towards the support. The weight of the weights should decrease as it approaches the metal hook.
  • When fishing takes place in the bottom, with a depth of about 3 m and with an intense current: set a heavy load, with special pellets regulating it from the bottom.
  • If there is a lot of vegetation in the reservoir, then punching equipment is used: the load is placed compactly, and a special float is tied with a larger weight. We must not forget that very light rigs are of little use here, due to the impossibility of accurately performing the cast.

Advantages and disadvantages of a fly rod

  2. Fragility.
  3. Difficulty fishing, near the branches.
  4. At great depths, fishing is impossible.
  5. It is impossible to catch large fish.

Technique and tactics of fishing with a swing rod

  1. First, you need to make test casts, and where there will be more bites, place the tackle and start feeding. When fishing, you must always maintain the tension of the line, this will help to make a strike on time.
  2. The fishing rod should always be held in hand and played with bait, fishing will become more productive. Change the nozzle periodically, fish taste preferences sometimes change.

So, everything you need to equip a fishing rod is in store: there are hooks, lines, sets of sinkers and floats, excellent rods are prepared. Now, in order for the parts to become one whole, they must be connected (assembled). How to tie hooks, leashes to a fishing line, attach a sinker and floats to it, has already been described in the relevant sections. And how to attach the line itself with the details sitting on it to the rod? If someone thinks that it is enough to firmly tie the end of the line to the tip of the rod and the rod is ready, he is deeply mistaken. Yes, with such a tackle you can go to the reservoir, you can even throw a hook with a nozzle into your favorite place. But it is impossible to pull a more or less decent trophy out of the water - the tip of the rod will certainly be broken and all the tackle will float away with the fish. In the hands of the unlucky fisherman, only a disfigured rod will remain.

To prevent such an embarrassment from happening, the fishing line is attached to the rod differently. This is done in two ways. And according to how the fishing line is attached, fishing rods are divided into two types: with "blind" equipment and with "running" equipment.

When mounting a fishing rod with a "blind" rig, the supply of line is wound on the reel located at the butt, and the working part wraps around the entire rod several times and is passed through a loop made of thick fishing line, nylon vein or string specially attached to the tip of the rod.

Fig 13. Reel:
I - rod, 2 - half rings (hooks), 3 - winding, 4 - rubber bands-shock absorbers,
5 - fishing line, 6 - locking rubber rings for the hook

What the reel is is can be clearly seen in Fig. 13. These are two wire semicircles (hooks), facing each other with their backs, tied to a rod with silk or nylon threads. These hooks are made of copper, brass or other stainless wire 1.5-2 mm thick. The winding legs are flattened out. The distance between the hooks does not really matter, but on a bamboo rod it is better to place them on the knots or in the immediate vicinity of them. In any case, you must try to ensure that the knots of bamboo do not interfere with the winding and unwinding of the line from the reel. So that after fishing there is where to hide the hook, one or two rubber retaining rings are placed in the middle of the reel or pieces of cork are attached.

It is known that after a long stay in the water, the line "shrinks" a little. If wet line is tightly wound on the reel, while drying, it can break hooks or pull them out of the reel. Rubber shock absorbers will help prevent an accident. They are pulled across the hooks, while the nape of the half rings should be bent so that the shock absorbers do not jump off them.

Not an idle question - where to place the reel? Of course, where it is more convenient! But ... if the rod is solid. And even then - it is more expedient on the butt. The line entwined along the entire length of the rod absorbs better and dampens desperate jerks of the caught fish. But what if the rod is composite or telescopic? There can be no doubt about it - only on the butt. And then, after all, it is not even an hour, the upper knee during casting and may jump out one day, including with the reel. And then ... goodbye fishing!

There is no consensus on how to attach the fishing line to the rod tip with a "blind" rig. Some authors of manuals on recreational fishing advise using a nipple elastic band put on the line, a piece of PVC tubing, all kinds of protections. It seems that all these recommendations are unacceptable. Firstly, with such a fastening, the load when fishing for prey does not fall on the entire rod, but only on its tip, as with a deaf garter. Secondly, it also has a number of disadvantages. For example, it was necessary to increase or decrease the length of the working part of the forest - pull the tip of the rod towards you, remove the tube and only then can you start the forest.

Rice. 14. Attaching the fishing line to the rod with
using the eyelet

You don't need to do any of this if you wind a small ring from a thick (0.5-0.8 mm) nylon vein or some string to the tip of the rod, stepping back from the tip of 8-10 mm. At the end, the line wrapped around the rod is folded into a loop, passed into the coiled ring and thrown onto the tip of the rod. The mount is ready. Quickly, reliably and, most importantly, allows you to quickly maneuver the length of the working part of the scaffold. By the way, a fishing rod with a "blind" rig should not have a fishing line longer than the rod by more than 1.5 meters, otherwise the angler will not be able to make an aiming cast and pull the prey towards him. Fishing rods with "blind" rigging are mainly used for fishing small fish.

More perfect is the "running" tackle. Instead of a reel, a reel is placed on such a fishing rod, and the so-called "pass" rings are attached along the entire length of the rod at a certain distance from each other: a threaded fishing line goes back and forth along them. The advantages of the "running" tackle is that it allows you to throw the nozzle far (especially with sliding float), quickly maneuver the length of the line and even pull out on a thin leash big booty.

The quality of the "running" tackle is largely determined by the reel. Its purpose is to increase or decrease the working part of the line. The reel should be lightweight, strong, contain sufficient line supply, and have good move rotation and reliable brake. All these requirements are met by coils produced by the domestic industry. Their assortment is quite wide.

A small (4-6 cm in diameter) reel of the simplest design is suitable for a float rod. It consists of a body with an axis and a foot for installing it on a rod and a drum (bobbin) rotating on this axis with handles. A braking device is mounted on the body.

Rice. 15. Spool with bobbin for float
fishing rods

To put the reel on the rod, a special handle is made on the butt. It can be made of cork, foam, wood, or other suitable materials. Making a pen is not difficult at home. Best material- Cork. But since it is not easy to find today, you can use Styrofoam. Of course, it would be nice to put on the butt a whole piece of foam 20-25 cm long. But ... in it without special device do not drill through the axial hole of the required diameter. Therefore, the pen has to be made type-setting. Cut 6-7 pieces of foam with a thickness of 3-4 cm and a rifle sleeve of the appropriate caliber punch an axial hole in each of them. Of course, the edges of the sleeve or other suitable tube must first be sharpened. Then these pieces are glued onto a rod, dried and processed. To make the handle sit on the butt more securely, the ring pieces are pulled together (wrapped) with cord or other strong threads before drying.

The foam handle can be made in another way. A 20 cm long foam block is sawn lengthwise into two equal parts and a groove is cut out in each half along the diameter of the rod, Then these halves are greased with glue, applied to the butt, and tightly wrapped with twine along the entire length. After drying, the handle is processed with a knife, rasp and sandpaper. True, the reliability of such a handle is lower than that made from separate pieces.

It is useful to equip the lower part of the handle with a buffer. It is made in a lenticular shape from a piece of hard rubber and screwed to the end of the rod with a long screw. The buffer has two functions: it protects the fisherman's clothing from possible snagging with the tackle and serves as an additional weight to shift the center of gravity of the rod closer to the fisherman's hand.

Rice. 16. Rod handle made of corks:
a - reel seats (tapered rings), b - cones, c - buffer

By the way - about the center of gravity. Do this simple maneuver. Take an un-equipped rod by the butt, hold it horizontally for a minute and estimate mentally how much it weighs. Now raise the rod by grabbing its middle knee and you will notice that it is much "lighter". So, to make the rod lighter, it is often poured into ... lead. Yes, yes, 150-200 grams and more! True, only in the butt part. This shifts the center of gravity of the rod and makes it easier for the angler to control the tackle. For this purpose, both the reel and the reel are placed as close as possible to the butt.

You can also make a buffer using a rubber crutch tip (available in pharmacies). It is not necessary to screw it with a screw. Shortened by one third or one half, it can be easily pulled over the lower end of the handle.

However, before installing the buffer, you must equip the handle with a spool holder. The simplest is two rings of a rubber hose 1.5-2 cm wide. If the coil does not need to be removed every time, it can be tied tightly to the handle with electrical tape or adhesive tape. There are several designs of metal and plastic reel seats on sale. Many factory rods are also equipped with them.

An essential part of the "running" tackle is the guide rings. They serve to pass (hence the name) the line from the reel to the tip of the rod, prevent it from sagging and distribute the load from the weight of the fish along the entire length of the rod. The rings should be lightweight, strong, with a well-polished inner surface so that the wood can pass through without friction. They are made from steel or brass wire, porcelain, agate mineral, plastic, and other materials and are sold in a large assortment in sports stores. The most reliable (but expensive) rings are made of agate and steel chrome-plated. The ring, intended for installation on the tip of the rod, is called the end ring and has the shape of a "tulip", that is, it is equipped with side racks that protect it from overlapping the line.

Rice. 17. Metal reel
body

The question of how many guides to put on a rod does not have a clear answer. But practice shows: if you put a lot, you break the line of the gear, the line will experience increased friction when moving. If you put it a little, and even worse: the line will sag in the spans, sail in the wind, some sections of the rod will be unevenly loaded. For two-meter rods of normal elasticity, 3-4 rings can be considered sufficient; for rods from 2 to 3 meters long - 4-5 rings; 3-4 meters long - 5-6 rings. A more accurate number of rings is determined taking into account the qualities, structure and purpose of each specific rod.

But there is no dispute among fishermen about where to install the rings. A fairly simple method is used to determine the attachment points. At the intended points of the ring temporarily (so that they can be moved) they are wound with a thread. A forest is threaded through them and a load from 100 grams to 1 kilogram is suspended to its free end (depending on the power of the rod). Then they put the rod at an angle of 45 degrees and, moving the rings, achieve that all deflections between the rings are equal, that is, the distance from the rod barrel to the fishing line stretched between the rings (clearance) was the same in all spans (a1 = a2 = = a3 = = a4). It is recommended to place the first ring 90 cm from the coil.

When the installation points are finally determined, the rings are fixed: the legs are fastened to the rod with silk or nylon thread, and the winding is varnished.

Rice. 18. Samples of end and lead rings

Rice. 19. Installing the guide rings

Rice. 20. Binding rings

A neat and reliable winding can be done in the following way: next to the foot (parallel to it), put the end of the thread and fasten it to the rod along with the foot; before the last four or five turns of the thread, a small loop of thread or thin soft wire is placed under it and also attached to the rod; then the end of the thread with which the winding was made is passed through the loop and with its help is pulled under the winding. It has been noticed that the threads wind up better and then hold the ring stronger if they are first soaked in water. After the winding is dry, it is covered with nitro varnish.

The situation with the installation of a telescopic fishing rod is somewhat more complicated. The reel and reel on the "telescope" are mounted according to the same principles as on other rods. True, there is no need to build a handle for the coil here, since the butt tube of the "telescope", as a rule, has a sufficient thickness for this. But you can't tie the rings to the middle of the tubes - the rod will not fold in this case.

There are two solutions to the problem. The first is to buy removable guides from the store. They are lightweight, comfortable, with the help of small pads of electrical tape, they can be installed at any calculated point. But ... they are very fragile. The fishing line rubs them almost in one fishing trip, and they break from the slightest accidental blow or graze.

The second is to put rings made of pins on the upper ends of the tubes. Although this method has significant drawbacks, for example, the load from the weight of the caught fish will not be distributed evenly enough over the entire rod and you will not fold it completely into the stowed position, however, many fishermen prefer just such an attachment of rings to the "telescope". Why? The compactness of the tackle is disturbed slightly, but it is brought into working condition very quickly. To do this, it is enough to remove the coil from the brake and by hand pull out one by one all the tubes (starting from the top) until they stop. If the fishing rod is equipped with a reel, the line supply is preliminarily removed from it for two rod lengths.

Rice. 21. Removable pass-through rings

The angler's dream is a telescopic, hollow-tip rod: no guide rings are needed! The fishing line in such a rod is placed inside, and its working end comes out through the axial hole of the tip. Such a tackle is light, elegant. The angler is relieved of excess weight (there are no reel rings), the line does not "sail" in the wind, the load from the caught fish is distributed evenly along the entire length of the rod.

There are two ways to thread the line inside the rod. Since this is far from simple, you should strictly adhere to the developed technologies!

Method one. In a rubber (plastic) cap, which is used to close the bottom of the butt tube, a hole with a diameter of 2-2.5 mm is made in the center with a heated silt (nail). A part of the fishing line is reeled off from the reel (reel) in one and a half to two lengths of one knee, threaded through the hole in the cap, and then passed through the thinnest (central) tube of the rod. For ease of use, it is better to remove this tube from the others, and then insert it with a tucked line. The line passed through the tip of the rod must be secured so that it does not slip back. Then collect the knees, close the butt tightly with the cap - and the tackle is ready for further equipment (you can hang a float, a sinker, tie leashes with hooks).

Line, especially thin line, is sometimes difficult to push through the tip of the rod - it twists and does not go. To facilitate this operation, a simple device helps - a "flexible needle". A thin (0.7-0.8 mm) piece of copper or brass wire is taken (it should be 20-25 cm longer than the butt knee) and an eyelet is made at one end of it. The working end of the fishing line is inserted into this eyelet (like a thread in a needle), then the "flexible needle" is passed from the wide end through the central (with the tip) tube of the rod and pulls out the fishing line.

The “flexible needle” must be stored and kept on fishing: a small wire cove on a foam reel is not a burden, and without this device, you cannot tuck a fishing line, especially a wet one, into a rod.

Rice. 22. Methods for threading a line into a telescopic rod:
a - first, b - second

I must say that the above method of threading the line has a serious drawback: when playing fish, the line does not go directly to the reel, but works "for a break". This creates additional resistance, the line quickly abrades against the walls of the cap. This can be avoided by refueling the line differently.

Method two. The butt tube is freed from all other tubes. About 25-30 centimeters above the attached coil (or the place where the removable coil should be installed), a small (3-4 mm long) oval hole is made in the wall of the butt (widest) tube. The part of the fishing line reeled from the reel is threaded into this hole and taken out ... towards the butt. After that, the fishing line is tucked into the central (apical) tube using a "flexible needle", as in the first way. Then the rod is assembled, making sure that the line is not pinched between the tubes.

With this method of threading, the line turns out to be even at a double "break": it goes up from the reel, turns down after the hole, then goes up again along the central knee. But such a zigzag is not terrible. The line will be “broken” only when the rod is inoperative. As soon as it is straightened to its full length, the fishing line will straighten and walk through the tubes as freely as along the guiding rings.

Rice. 23. Shapes of carbines
When using tackle with a fishing line tucked in, remember this rule: after fishing, the fishing rod must be folded, starting from the top knee, while constantly holding the line so that it does not fall between the walls and does not jam the tubes.

To end the conversation about the device of a float rod - this most versatile tool for amateur fishing, we need to talk about another small but important detail - a carbine.

Rice. 24. Float rod assembly:
a - with a blind rig, b - with a "running rig"; 1 - rod, 2 - connecting
tubes, 3 - reel, 4 - end loops, 5 - fishing line, 6 - float,
7 - sinkers, 8 - hook, 9 - handle with a fungus (buffer) and a coil; 10 -
reel holder from bonus rings, 11 - screw holder, 12 - plate
holder, 13 - pass rings, 14 - end ring (tulip)

Carabiners (swivels) are designed to resist twisting of the line. They are made from steel or brass and come in many shapes. The main advantages of the carbine are good rotation and durable parts. On a float rod, the carabiner is placed between the main line and the leash and prevents the nozzle from rotating from movement in the water to twist the main line.

The carbine is also good because, without a radical re-equipment of the fishing rod, just by changing the leashes, it allows you to quickly adapt the tackle for catching fish of various sizes.

When installing a fishing rod, all its parts are selected depending on the expected production. To catch small fish, they put a thin line, a small hook, a small sinker and a very sensitive float. For fish of medium size (weighing up to 1 kg), a line with a section of 0.25-0.3 mm with a carabiner and a leash (0.18-0.20 mm) is needed. Large fish, especially a predator, can be pulled out of the water only on a thick ( 0.4-0.8 mm) fishing line and a large (No. 8.5-14) hook. In a word, we must try to ensure that all parts of the rod are “coordinated”, nothing disturbed its “order”.

At the same time, one cannot fail to note this tendency. More and more fishermen prefer to have one rod for different occasions. Most often it consists of a telescopic rod 3-4 m long, a medium-sized bobbin (inertial) reel, replaceable floats and weights, as well as replaceable leads different lengths and sections. The main line is set with a cross section of 0.3-0.35 mm. By quickly changing (depending on fishing conditions) floats, sinkers and leashes, the fisherman can fish in stagnant and running water, shallow and at depth, in coastal thickets and far from the coast.

The simplest fishing rod without rings known from childhood to every angler is a tackle famous for its lightness, accessibility and versatility. Probably, any boy must have fished with this simple tackle. And adult fishermen who have remained faithful to this tool fishing, enough.

Such rods are used to catch mostly medium-sized peaceful fish in bodies of water with stagnant water or weak currents. Fishing is mostly done from the shore, although you can also fish from a boat. Since such a tackle requires an almost constant standing position from the angler, fishing from a boat (especially a rubber one) is not entirely convenient. In addition, it is quite difficult to carry out an accurate casting while in a watercraft.

An equipped fishing rod, on which there are no pass rings, is called a swing rod by the method of casting the bait into the water. This tackle is suitable even for a novice angler.

The attractiveness of a fly rod is that fishing with it does not require special skills, expensive consumables and special conditions for fishing. Even a child can easily master the swing technique. That is why fishing with the use of the "swing" is quite popular, especially among children and novice fishermen.

There are three main types of fishing rods without rings:
  1. Classic.
  2. Carp.
  3. Uleechnaya.

Carp fishing rods are the longest and heaviest: their length starts from 7 meters, and their weight starts from one and a half kilograms. This is a fishing rod for professionals, masters of their craft.

The drift rod is light and short, well suited for fishing in confined spaces close to the shore.

Finally, the classic fly rod has a length of 5 to 13 meters and is considered the most versatile tackle.

Fishing objects:
  • bleak;
  • crucian carp;
  • gudgeon;
  • medium-sized perch;
  • bastard;
  • silver bream;
  • carp;
  • roach and other fish species.

Rods can be telescopic or plug-in, but plug-in rods are rare. The plug is usually longer than 7 meters. "Telescopes" are considered to be more durable, although the material of manufacture is important here - fiberglass, composite or carbon. Carbon rods are the lightest and most durable.

During installation, the so-called blind equipment is used. This is such a rig, in which the line is attached to the rod "tightly", without the possibility of changing, for example, the length of the line.

For installation you will need:
  1. Rod.
  2. Connector for attaching a fishing line.
  3. The main line.
  4. Leader line.
  5. Sinkers.
  6. Float.
  7. Hooks.

Let's start with the connector, as this is the main tool for attaching the line to the rod. The connector can be bought at the store, it has a penny price. To attach it to a fishing rod, you need to drop some waterproof glue on the tip of the whip, and then carefully put on the connector.

Many rods are already equipped with line connectors. You can tie the main line directly to this cord, or you can use the advice of experienced fishermen: thread the cord into a piece of cambric, and, if necessary, bend the cord to the whip and fasten the resulting loop with cambric.

Often there are cases when the tip of the whip breaks off while fishing together with the connector. Therefore, many anglers pull the end of the line through the connector and make a second attachment of the line to the whip using electrical tape or a line. This allows you to save equipment from loss in the event of a breakdown. In addition, you need to have a supply of connectors with you. Replacement whips will also be useful, the quality of which needs to be paid special attention to.

Also, anglers make connectors on their own, making a loop of wire, fishing line, elastic band and fixing it at the tip of the whip with a harsh thread.

But the best option is a store-bought connector, because homemade connectors tend to reduce the sensitivity of the tackle. In addition, there is a risk of losing all rigs due to a badly tied eyelet.

Taking a leash line, we knit hooks. The size of the hooks depends on the fish you intend to fish. Usually these are sizes 4-7 according to the Russian classification. The leash with a hook is tied to the main line with a strong "clinch" knot, without the use of carabiners and swivels, since the rig is required to be light, as inconspicuous as possible.

A float of suitable carrying capacity is installed on the main line. You should choose high quality floats with high sensitivity. The best are sports, drop-shaped.

Many anglers consider the traditional goose feather to be the best float option. A feather float is indeed quite sensitive, but it has an extremely low carrying capacity, so a rig with its use is suitable only for short tackle tackle.

A loop is made at the free end of the main line and attached to the connector.

Then it is necessary to load the float by attaching shot weights to the fishing line. When selecting the weight of the leads, the rod test must be taken into account. We must not forget to do the so-called backup near the hook - a small pellet that serves as a weight for bait.

The length of the assembled rig should not exceed the length of the rod. It should be 30-40 cm shorter than the fishing rod. otherwise it will be difficult to accurately cast and play fish. Also makes fishing difficult and too short a rig.

Prepared complete rigging must be wound on the reel for storage. The reel with ready-made equipment is easy to take with you on a fishing trip and on the spot to carry out a quick change of fishing rod equipment.

It is necessary to prepare several options for equipment in advance in order to quickly respond to changes in the situation on the reservoir.

The angler should know all the positive and negative qualities of his tackle. The fly rod also has its pros and cons.

The undoubted advantages include:
  • ease of tackle;
  • ease of assembly;
  • versatility;
  • mobility;
  • casting accuracy.

All these qualities allow you to have with you on the pond not only several reels with different rigs, but also several fishing rods that can be equipped in different ways.

Of the negative qualities of a swing rod, the following can be noted:
  • low strength;
  • impossibility of long-distance casting;
  • the inability to fish at great depths.

This tackle is not intended for catching trophy fish - most likely, it simply will not stand it. It is practically impossible to fish with it in pools and pits, as well as at a considerable distance from the shore. But in all other respects, it is a convenient, gambling tackle that brings pleasure from the fishing process.

Swing fishing, practiced by experienced fishermen, skillful use of the advantages of the tackle, correct installation, always bring success and the desired catch.

So, a swing rod allows you to successfully catch fish of various breeds and always have a ready-made working tackle at hand.

Even a child can handle a fishing rod 8 meters long, so we can say that this tackle is perfect for any age.

Fishing with a float rod is one of the most common fishing methods, and probably the simplest. Moreover, using a light swing rod, even with a minimum of skills and knowledge, you can have a good catch. After all, nothing special is required in this case, just understand the basics of fishing - and that's it.

Types of float rods

  1. A fly rod is a rod 4–7 meters long, without a reel or with a small analogue of it - a drum for storing fishing line. Such equipment must be thrown into the reservoir with a light wave of the hand.
  2. A match rod is a rod of 4–7 meters in length, but it must be equipped with a spinning reel. Indeed, in this case, it is supposed to perform long-distance casting. Both blind and sliding rigs can be used.
  3. Plug fishing method involves the use of an extra long rod, called a plug. After all, when assembled, this rig can be 12-18 meters long. In order to deliver the bait directly to the place of fishing, you will need to completely unfold the tackle and make them support in the form of a special stand.

The principle of fishing with float gear

Immediately before fishing, you need to point-feed the selected place. Moreover, it is advisable to throw the bait in the form of medium-sized balls.

Next, you need to set the distance from the float to the hook, commensurate with the depth of the chosen fishing spot. And only then you can start fishing. Most fish bite from the bottom of the reservoir, and not in the water column or on top. Although small species of fish, such as bleak, verkhovka, and sometimes even a chub get food from the surface.

Choosing a swing rod

To date, the range of swing rods is simply colossal, which greatly complicates the process of choosing them. The pricing policy of this type of equipment depends on many factors, and also differs in a wide range. For example, a budget fishing rod can cost you literally five dollars. Whereas the branded model will tighten for 400 conventional units. That is why for the right choice swing fishing rod must be determined with its characteristics.

What is a fly rod made of?

  • The fiberglass rod has a reasonable price, but its weight will be significant, and the rod itself is too soft. Although at the same time you will not have to apply special care and trepidation to its maintenance;
  • The CFRP rod is the opposite of the previous rig. And this is characteristic not only of its cost, but also of quality. This model is lightweight, has good rigidity, but the price for such a pleasure is not small either. Not every person can afford this type of rig;
  • composite fishing rod - the best option for beginners. Indeed, in this case, you will get average specifications for little money.

Attaching the fishing line to the float fly rod

There are two ways to attach the monofilament to the float rod:

  • the rod has rings. To do this, you need to attach a reel to the fishing rod. Gently winding monofilament on it, it is recommended, starting from a nearby ring, to introduce fishing line into it. In this case, the last one should be the smallest ring at the tip of the rod;
  • there are no rings, and instead of them there is a special mount, fixed with superglue. At the end of the main line, a loop is created using the figure-eight knot method. In the future, it is put directly on the mount and closed with a special stopper.

Fishing rod equipment

In the event that you decide to use a rod without rings, it is necessary that the length of the line is equal to the length of the rod. Maximum superiority is allowed no more than half a meter. Exceptionally this amount of monofilament will make possible easy casting and comfortable pulling out of the catch.

A video reflecting the process of organizing a fishing rod rigging:

Choosing a float

The float is used to signal a bite, therefore, its choice must be taken with the full degree of responsibility. First, you need to decide on the depth of the fishing spot. So: * depth up to one meter assumes a float with a carrying capacity of up to 1 g;

  • depth 1-3 m - from 1 to 2.5 g;
  • depth more than three meters - float 3-5 g.

If the body of water has strong current, then it is necessary to use special floats for fishing on the current.

There is also a very interesting view float equipment -. For fishing with it, as a rule, a rod with spinning reel for long casts or, in extreme cases, an ordinary inertial reel with a drum.

Line and leash

The leash for a float type of rig itself is a controversial moment. Indeed, in this case, the tackle is simultaneously distinguished by subtlety and invisibility, and by cluttering with bridles and loops. The leash is made on the basis of the thinnest line than the main monofilament for the reel. Its length will directly affect the quality of the bite:

  • the short lead is the most sensitive and will allow you to see every touch of the fish on the bait. Although in this case you should not rush, because you can hook the catch earlier than it would be necessary to do it;
  • a long leash in general may not allow you to feel the bite, and therefore the fish will be able to swallow your bait and go into free swimming.
  • fishing conditions;
  • parameters of the line itself and its properties;
  • elements that are part of the rod itself.

Correct loading

In order to produce the correct sensitive loading, you are advised to secure a medium lead pellet under the float, carefully clamping it all with pliers. Throw your rig into the water. In the event that the body of the float is slightly visible, it is recommended to add more weight. In this case, it is imperative to make sure that the minimum depth is set. After all, the weights in this case should be suspended, and not lie at the bottom of the reservoir.

Adding lead darts is necessary as long as it looks out from the surface of the reservoir only float tip... Only then will you achieve good sensitivity. But if the fishing is in a strong wind, it can be allowed that some part of the float's body is visible. This way, you can negate the visual illusion as the float passes through the waves.

Hooks

Experts recommend choosing hooks depending on the desired catch and the size of the bait. It is necessary for a moment to imagine what kind of mouth your fish has, and whether it can safely swallow such a hook. On the other hand, an unnecessarily small hook will also become a hindrance. Because in this case there will be a lot of blank bites. After all, the fish will not be hooked and will get off the hook. Therefore, you can say goodbye to your trophy.

Conclusion

The choice of equipment must be done with great responsibility. In this case, it is worth trying to increase the sensitivity of the gear. And it is best to take a rod that is light and comfortable, so that you do not feel discomfort during the casting process. After all, fishing is necessary only to have fun, and not to suffer with tackle.

Good bite and good fishing!

This note is the second part of the topic - float rod rig or summer float rod for a beginner... The first part is "How to assemble a float rod".

Correct rigging float rod depends on the fishing conditions and habits of the fish.

What does it mean to take into account the fishing conditions? This is the place of fishing and weather conditions: which bank is high and steep or gentle and even; at what distance from the coast; at what depth; near aquatic vegetation; in the thickets themselves; on the clean water; the presence and speed of the current; the presence and strength of the wind.

What does it mean to take into account the habits of the fish? Each fish breed has its own characteristics: more or less cautious; the nature of the bite; the size of the fish; resistance when playing; habitats.

In connection with the above, a float rod can be divided into two main types - a float rod with a blind rig (without rings and a reel) and a float rod with a running rig (with rings and a reel).

Float rod without rings and reel ("blind tackle")

The float rod without a reel is mainly used for fishing small fish at shallow depths in bodies of water without a current or in places with a quiet current.

Cons of a float rod without a reel

  • There is no way to make long casts.
  • There is no way to fish at great depths.
  • There is no way to fish from a high steep bank, bridges, dams.
  • And also, due to the lack of a reel when fishing for large fish, it can be difficult to play, for the same reason you have to use a thicker fishing line and the tackle is made coarser.

Pros of a float rod without rings and reels

  • Since there is no reel and rings, it will be cheaper to assemble the "blind tackle" accordingly.
  • A fishing rod with a "deaf" rig can be used to fish among aquatic vegetation. A rod with a "running" rig cannot boast of this. The fishing line passing through the rings, when fishing among thickets, often clings to bushes, to tall grass, because of this, it gets tangled and torn.
  • "Deaf tackle" is most suitable for high-speed fishing. When the fish is found, lured and the distance from the shore allows you to fish with a float rod without a reel, then in this case the rod with a reel works slower.
  • For a fishing rod without rings and without a reel, you can quickly change the fishing line with all the equipment (float, sinker, hook) to a prepared in advance. What did I mean?

Let's say there are several species of fish in the river - perch, roach, bleak. For perch, it is advisable to use a thicker fishing line and a larger hook, and the float with a sinker will be heavier. A smaller hook is needed for roach, in general, the entire rig should be lighter compared to the rig for perch. And for bleak, the thinnest fishing line and small hooks are used.

Different equipment for different fish species. Therefore, at home I prepared three fishing lines equipped with a float, a sinker and a hook, respectively, for perch, roach and bleak. I wound the equipped fishing line on the reel, and in order to quickly change the fishing line to the desired one I use the fastener.

To tie the fishing line to the clasp, you can use clinch knot.

In the first part, I advised two floats - goose feather and fusiform. For a float rod without rings and without a reel, choose a goose feather float. It is attached to the fishing line in two places.

In the store, it is better to immediately purchase a set of pellets of different weights. We will select it empirically. First, attach the smallest pellet. To attach a sinker, you need to put the fishing line into the cut of the pellet so that the distance from the sinker to the hook is about 5-8 cm, then press the pellet, for example, with pliers.

We are testing. We lower the equipped fishing line into a container of water. We adjust the depth of release of the hook with the float so that the depth of the container with water is greater. This is necessary to see how the float "stands" (float weight). If it "stands" and does not sink at the same time, it stays on the surface of the water almost vertically, then the weight of the sinker fits well to the float.

If the float goes under water (sinks by itself), then the sinker is too heavy. Pliers can easily bite off a piece from the pellet. Bite off excess weight until the float "stands" normally. If the float is "sideways" or practically on the water, then you need to add weight. We attach another pellet a little higher than the first, about 2 cm.

This was the simplest example of balancing a float. If one pellet weighing 0.8 g or less was enough to adjust the balance of the float in the water, then this tackle turned out to be light. In principle, you can already go and catch it. But such a light rig has a drawback - it will be difficult to cast the bait in a strong wind.

Consider when there are two pellets on the line next to each other, or one, but heavier than 1 g, i.e. heavier rig. When biting, when the fish "chews" on the hook with a tasty worm, it will feel the weight of heavy weights, especially at the moment when it wants to lift the bait from the bottom. Because of this, the fish will not finish eating the worm and will spit out the hook. To prevent this from happening, they make a backup.

The lead is the lightest pellet available on an equipped line. It is located very first from the hook at a distance of 5-8 cm. And the main load is even higher, i.e. further away from the hook.

Now, when the fish takes the bait, it will only move the small pellet, which is closer to the hook. A light weight the fish will not feel the sinker, but the float will still show a bite. If, of course, the float is properly balanced.

The principle of adjusting the balance of a float with a float is the same as described above. You just need to select the weight of the paddle so that it noticeably affects the weight of the float. For example, without a paddle, the float should protrude out of the water a little higher. Do not forget, the weight of the padding should be small - I advise up to 0.8 g.

Often the hook and pad are attached to a separate leash. The leash is an extension of the main line. It is made from a fishing line, the section of which is always less than the section of the main line. The leash length is different. Usually 15-20 cm, but sometimes they are made up to 1 meter long.

What determines the leash length? From the habits of fish. Watch her bite. If there are many empty bites, then the length of the leash is reduced. Due to a too long leash, late sweeps are obtained. When there is fish, but bites are rare, it may be frightened by the main thick line and large weights. In this case, try to increase the length of the leash.

And also for the leash, you can use dyed fishing line - green, brown, yellowish. The use of a dyed, thin line makes the tackle less visible to the fish, which increases the bite. The following knot can be used to tie the leash to the main line, see the picture below.

A leash can be useful in the event of a snag. Since the cross-section of the line for the leash was used less than the main one, when it breaks, only the leash with a hook will come off, and the main line and the float will remain.

Briefly reviewed the rig with and without a leash. Which one to choose is up to you. I will not advise anything concrete here, I gave information for reflection, then we ourselves. Choose the length of the equipped fishing line approximately equal to the length of the rod, or a little shorter - by 15 cm.

Of course, you can make a line longer than the rod, but if you catch tall grass from the shore, it will not be convenient to throw the nozzle, it will cling to the grass.

The technique of casting a nozzle with a float rod

I will describe the safest technique for casting a nozzle, especially for beginners. Pendulum cast.

1) B right hand take a rod, and in the left hook with a nozzle. The rod is held approximately parallel to the water. The tip of the rod is directed to the place where we are going to put the bait, or slightly to the left.

2) Now let go of the attachment and at the same time raise the rod tip - move the rod up and slightly forward. When the nozzle is in front of the rod end, it is lowered.

When casting, make sure that the hook with the attachment does not catch on the grass or something else.
