How to make a tackle for a pike. Correct rigging for pike and perch

Among lovers of catching predatory fish from under the ice, the zherlitsa is considered the most catchy tackle. With this tackle, you can fish both on lakes and reservoirs, and on rivers with a moderate current. Depending on the specific conditions of fishing and the type of fish that is supposed to be caught, the rigging of the gutter can be different.

The main secret of the catch of the girders, which are also called "flags", is that a fisherman can fish simultaneously with several tackles. Fishermen who are not members of the hunting and fishing community are allowed to fish with no more than five gnats. Those who are in the community can fish for ten "flags". Due to the large number of tackles, the issue of ease of transportation is very relevant, as well as the possibility of quick assembly and installation on the ice of the reservoir. There are three main types of vents used by anglers:

  • on a single rack;
  • on a flat base;
  • on a tripod.

The design on a single stand is quite convenient in transportation and does not require additional assembly on the pond, but at the same time it has several significant disadvantages. There must be at least a little snow on the ice to install this type of groove. A small snowdrift is made of snow, into which the tackle is installed. In the absence of snow, you will have to make additional holes in the ice, which negatively affects the fishing speed and gives the angler a lot of trouble. During winter thaws, the snowdrift thaws and the tackle constantly falls.

The "flag" on a single stand is not suitable for fishing large fish, since it is not securely fixed on the ice. Grabbing a live bait and winding up the entire supply of fishing line, a trophy specimen can easily drag all the tackle into the hole.

Zherlitsa on a flat base is devoid of the disadvantages inherent in the type on a single rack. This collapsible design fits easily into any fishing box and with some experience, it is assembled in a few seconds. A "flag" on a flat base consists of three elements:

  • flat rack;
  • reels with a holder;
  • bite alarm.

Thanks to the flat base, this structure can be easily installed even on smooth ice... The flat stand covers the entire surface of the hole, preventing light from entering it. The absence of a light spot under the hole has a positive effect on the predator's biting. The main disadvantage of this type of "flags" is the low landing. With abundant snowfall, such a girder can be completely swept away, due to which the fish biting will not be noticeable to the fisherman. In addition, when water forms on the ice and subsequent frosts, such tackle will freeze into the ice.

When choosing a structure on a flat base, you should pay attention to the material from which it is made. The plastic used in its production must be designed for use at low temperatures.

The zherlitsa on a tripod has proven itself well when fishing for a large predator, since even when reeling in the entire supply of fishing line, the fish will not be able to drag the tackle under the ice. During transportation, the legs of the structure are folded, and it takes up very little space. Due to the high seating position, such a "flag" will not be seen even in heavy snow. In case of freezing into the ice, the metal racks can be easily released by hitting them with a fishing ladle.

The pike is the most common object of girder fishing. With the help of the zerlichny tackle, the fisherman has the opportunity to quickly find the parking places of the predator. To properly equip the pike perch, the angler will need:

  • monofilament fishing line with a diameter of 0.35-0.40 mm;
  • sliding sinker "olive";
  • a leash made of metal or fluorocarbon;
  • double or triple hook.

When fishing in clean places, the supply of fishing line should be at least 15 meters - this will allow the predator to move freely after a bite, swallowing prey. If fishing takes place in areas of a body of water that are heavily encircled or overgrown with aquatic vegetation, the length of the fishing line should be shortened. To prevent the pike from starting the rig behind driftwood or grass, no more than 10 meters of monofilament should be wound on the reel.

In the absence of snags in the place of fishing, the weight of the sliding sinker should not exceed 7 g. A light sinker will allow the bait to swim not only under the hole, but also go a little to the side, which will be very useful in case of passive behavior of the pike. In tight places, the movement of live bait will have to be limited by placing a sinker weighing about 15 g. Otherwise, constant breaks of the rig cannot be avoided. When fishing on the current, the weight of the load can reach 30 g.

A leash must be present in the equipment of the pike girdle. that will be able to withstand the sharp teeth of a predator. On little-visited reservoirs, the fish are not too careful, which allows the use of metal leashes. In places with strong fishing pressure, it is preferable to use a fluorocarbon line leader with a thickness of 0.40-0.45 mm. The length of this piece of equipment is 30-60 centimeters. The leash is attached to the main line using the loop-to-loop method.

Depending on the activity of the pike, double or triple hooks can be used in the rig. For sluggish bites, it is better to use double hooks... When the predator is active, triple hooks should be preferred, which more reliably cut through the fish.

Perch is also well caught with zerlichny tackle throughout the winter. The design of the perch girder differs from the pike girdle by the presence of a more sensitive bite alarm. To catch the "minke" you need to collect delicate tackle, which consists of the following elements:

  • main line with a thickness of 0.20-0.25 mm;
  • sliding sinker weighing 2-4 g;
  • small swivel;
  • fluorocarbon leash with a diameter of 0.18 mm;
  • single hook number 6-4.

A light weight will provide the fry with freedom of movement and will not alert the perch. The use of a fluorocarbon leash is quite justified, since the small teeth of the minke whale are able to quickly grind a monofilament line. The length of the leash depends on the depth at the place of fishing and can range from 20 centimeters to 1 meter. A small swivel is required to connect the main line and the leash. The perch does not have enough prey, like a pike, but sucks it in along with the flow of water, therefore, when equipping perch zerlichny tackle, it is necessary to use light single hooks.

In addition to perch and pike, you can quite successfully catch pike perch and bersh with zerlichny tackle. The correct rigging of the gutter and a good knowledge of the reservoir will allow the fisherman to always return home with a good catch.

Attention, only TODAY!

Fishing trenches are subdivided into summer and winter seasons... Their difference is in the correct construction of the structure, each of which has its own characteristics. The object of fishing with such tackle is pike, less often burbot, pike perch and perch. Due to the fact that fishing shops do not offer a wide selection of girders for different times of the year, professionals and beginners prefer to cook them on their own at home.

DIY winter girders

There are such types of homemade girders:

  • plastic tube;
  • bright flag;
  • a bobbin from a fishing line;
  • nuts and washers;
  • base;
  • sleeve from the hose.

It works this way: the leg is placed on the snow and frozen. A line with a hook and bait, passed through the reel, will signal a bite.

  1. On the platform. The design is considered the most complex, as it requires a drawing and fitting of all elements. They are mounted on one platform, which is often carved out of wood or plastic. To prepare it, take:
  • coil;
  • checkbox;
  • plywood;
  • staples;
  • fishing line;
  • hook.

When biting, the fishing line comes out from under the retainer brackets, the flag rises up and signals the appearance of fish.

There is a great deal of information about various zherlitsa in specialized literature, but they have one thing in common - they can actually catch fish.

Zherlitsa for winter fishing consists of the following components:

  1. signaling device;
  2. bracket together with a coil;
  3. rack;
  4. snap.

The stand is prepared from a plastic tube, and the bracket is made of a metal knitting needle, and their corners must remain even. The coil is made of polystyrene and the signaling device is made of steel wire.

When assembling a winter vest, you need to do the following:

  1. fix the wire on the rack with one end, and supply the other with a flag.
  2. attach the rig to the reel.
  • On the example of an American zherlitsa with rubber shock absorber We recommend that you also use this feature so that the pike does not break the tackle and when playing the rubber, the rubber smooths out the sharp jerks of the fish.
  • Great way install the girders - use a tripod. Unlike the platform version, this one will be securely fixed in the ice and covered with snow, which guarantees its immobility.
  • Use up to 0.4 mm fluorocarbon closer to the bait to prevent the pike from spotting the line. Nevertheless, you still have to use a metal leash.
  • The wooden structure of the vents can be replaced with propylene (pvc) tubes.
  • The flagless zerlitsa is another option for improving your design. Use electronic signaling device bites, or even better a pager for transmitting a bite signal from a distance.

Classic version

This design consists of several elements:

  • signaling device;
  • bracket with coil;
  • rack;
  • snap.

It is not difficult to make it.

  1. Take a metal tube that will serve as a stand.
  2. The bracket can be made from a metal spoke.
  3. The reel is made of foam.
  4. The signaling device is made from a piece of wire.
  5. Attach a snap to the reel.
  6. At the moment when the fish swallows the bait, a bright flag rises up.

Modernized classic version

This design includes the following components:

  • base;
  • signaling device;
  • bracket with coil;
  • snap.

Cooking process:

  1. The base is prepared from solid foam or plywood with a diameter that matches the hole;
  2. The reel is made of polystyrene and is fixed to the bracket;
  3. The signaling device is screwed to the base;
  4. A fishing line is threaded into the base and fixed on a reel;
  5. During fishing, the signaling device goes behind the coil, and at the moment of a bite, it starts to rotate, which makes the flag go up.

Reel "Spatula"

Comprises:

  • polystyrene;
  • racks;
  • hinge;
  • signaling device.

Since the signaling device is similar to a spatula, it is equipped with a wooden handle and then secured with an elastic band. The handle itself should be painted or covered with duct tape to keep it bright and visible. When a pike bites, the signaling device stands straight and the line begins to unwind.

Wooden frame construction

The most simple model:

  1. Find a wooden flyer from a branched knot (better elastic).
  2. Cut a fork with a handle that is 15 centimeters long and 10 millimeters thick.
  3. At the end of the flyer, make a rim to fix the loop.
  4. It is better to have a fishing line with a margin of up to 7 meters and a diameter of 0.6 mm.
  5. Attach a metal leash to the free end of the line.
  6. Attach a triple hook size 4-5 through the ring from the leash.
  7. Install a sinker on the line (you can install several of them).
  8. At the bottom, fix the sinker with a swivel.

Underglacial zherlitsa

Similar girders are different simple manufacture and various items are suitable for them that will correspond to the hole made. To prepare an under-ice zherlitsa you will need:

  • object corresponding to the hole;
  • a plastic tube of approximately 40-50 cm, which is fixed to any chosen object;
  • the line is inserted into the sawn hole of the plastic tube.

Another method of making a structure for fishing from under the ice can be built from duralumin strip using metal wire. The self-cooking method consists of the following points:

  1. A strip of duralumin 1x50x200 millimeters or more with bent ends in one direction (it is also the base);
  2. Drill a small hole in the center of the plate where the coil will be placed;
  3. Make another hole for the fishing line near the reel.
  4. Fasten the signaling device wrapped or painted with bright colors to the spring;
  5. Fasten the spring at the end of the base and secure with a pin.

Another option for fishing from under the ice. For manufacturing you will need:

  • a couple of pieces of hose about 10 centimeters;
  • make a hole on one section of the hose for attaching the loop;
  • cut a hole on another segment where the rope will be fixed;
  • instead of a reel, a plastic tube is used, where 10 meters of cord are wound;
  • fasten the first end of the cord with a loop, and insert the second into the slot at the end of the hose;
  • tie a sinker and a leash made of fishing line about 40 cm to the free end of the rope;
  • connect the leash with another metal leash and hook.

Equipment

Everything important elements:

  1. Fishing line. Because it is less exploited, the firm shouldn't worry. Its diameter will depend on the size of the fish. Usually take up to 0.6 mm.
  2. Coil. They wind 20 meters of fishing line on it - a little more.
  3. Leash. Metal to prevent predatory fish from eating it.
  4. Sinker. Its mass should have a ratio of 1: 2 to fish. On the river, the load is selected on the speed of the current (it is important that the live bait is kept in one place).
  5. Signaling device.
  6. Bright checkbox.

Rigging the gutter

Regardless of the design, its equipment consists of:

  • fishing lines up to 20 meters;
  • leash;
  • hook (more often they take not one, but two or three hooks - the choice is up to the angler);
  • sinkers;
  • coils.

Take monofilament fishing line. Coil up to 30 mm. It is important that the hook has a good point. A sliding olive is suitable for the sinker.

How to increase your fish catch?

For 7 years of active fishing enthusiasm, I have found dozens of ways to improve the bite. Here are the most effective ones:

  1. Bite activator... This pheromone supplement attracts fish most strongly in cold and warm water. ...
  2. Enhancement the sensitivity of the tackle. Read the appropriate manuals for your specific tackle type.
  3. Bait based pheromones.

Check box

Making your own flag is a reliable option, especially if it is made up of different colors. A small red flag is barely visible in the reeds, and at a distant distance it generally turns black. Orange is clearly visible in the bushes, but invisible at a decent distance.

A multi-colored flag will enable the angler to immediately see the bite. It is also recommended to stick strips of reflective material on the flag (they will be perfectly visible at night under the light of a lantern).

Manufacturing is not difficult:

  • take a rail 50x50 mm and 40 centimeters long;
  • check the box on the elastic material;
  • at the end of the workpiece, fix the flag rod with electrical tape;
  • attach to the rail inertial coil which is present on float rod; it is attached in such a way that the rod with the flag is straightened during scrolling;
  • wind the fishing line up to 20 meters onto the reel;
  • attach a sinker to the ring from the fishing line;
  • fix the swivel on the fishing line;
  • attach a metal leash with a hook to the swivel;
  • to fix the girder on the bank with a peg.

Summer vents making process

For catching pike, perch, pike perch and other predatory fish in summer, the zerlitsa is perfect, which will swim on the surface of the water. Such a tackle is called a circle.

To make a summer zherlitsa (mug) you will need:

  • slingshot;
  • fishing line;
  • sinker;
  • triple hook (single hook is also possible);
  • a wooden stake to anchor it to the shore.

Instructions:

  1. tie the fishing line to the slingshot and wrap it around;
  2. sinker, leash and float are going;
  3. put live bait on the hook;
  4. fix the tackle on the shore to the branches of the bushes that are next to the reservoir.

Classic version

With the onset of the summer season, many reservoirs are overgrown with vegetation, and in order to build a good gore for pike, you need to take into account the hard-to-reach places where this fish lives. For example, those who are accustomed to catching pike in the winter may well convert the winter girder to the summer one.

The main thing is to find necessary elements, on which you can wind the fishing line. Mainly used by:

There are also such vents that can be installed on the water, but they require constant supervision so that it is not dragged into the snag.

To equip a summer zherlitsa you need:

  • choose a place where it will be attached;
  • find a wooden flyer and fix the fishing line on it (the fishing line should be 0.5 mm thick and about 7 meters long);
  • a sliding weight with a swivel to connect a 30 centimeters leash (necessary for a current);
  • retaining rings;
  • hooks (double and triple hooks can be used at the request of the angler).
  • after installation, tie the girdle to a tree or branch hanging over the pond.

Use the boat to set the gutter in the right place, because from the shore you will have to enter the thickets and into the water.

One of the most simple ways a bottle is used for making a zherlitsa.

  • a nylon thread is fixed on the bottle, which is fixed with an elastic band;
  • the sinker is put on a thread and a leash and a hook are put on;
  • the bottle is painted in a bright color;
  • live bait is planted, and the bottle is tied with a thread to a tree branch hanging over the reservoir.

The only thing left for the fisherman is to keep a close eye on the fish, whether it has fallen into the ghost.

Those who prefer to fish from a boat are also able to make a girder, only in this case a bottle will be required large sizes, for example, three-liter.

Instructions:

  1. fix the fishing line under the neck of the bottle, and wind a loop across it, which is held under the ring;
  2. a little water should be poured into the bottle;
  3. make a small hole in the cap and neck of the bottle where you can tie the fishing line;
  4. then take the cord and fishing line, pass the fishing line through the bottom of the bottle and make a knot;
  5. pass the line through the lid;
  6. attach a sinker and several hooks with live bait to the fishing line.

When the pike grabs the live bait, the lower part of the girder will rise, and the upper one will go to the depth. Then you can play the pike ashore.

Let us recall that not only pike bite on the girders, but also burbot, pike perch, perch, rotan. Nevertheless, pike is the most popular fishing target. Finally, let's give 8 important recommendations.

  • If fishing allows you to use multiple leads, you can use different live baits.
  • The bite will depend on the tackle. If it is thin, then the bite will be bad.
  • If observed strong current, it is better to take a heavier sinker.
  • Mask your supplies for the night. The hole can be covered with snow.
  • Do not stand over the tackle or run from one to the other. Choose a waiting area and watch the alarms carefully.
  • Observe the correct installation of the vents.
  • The bite will depend on the place of fishing.
  • It will be useful to prepare for knowledge in the field of fish behavior in the wilderness.

Despite the seeming simplicity of this tackle, the zherlitsa is a delicate matter. You can buy a zherlitsa in a store or do it yourself. But it is better for the fisherman to equip it on his own.

Remember, as Winnie the Pooh said in the cartoon: "The wrong bees make the wrong honey." So it happens with zherlitsy. Only an improperly equipped zerlitsa does not catch the wrong pike. She doesn't catch anyone at all! ..

Now I can't remember without laughing my first zippers, five in number, which I made with my own hands on long winter evenings, when I was at school in the seventh grade. The spools for them were empty spools of fishing line, I made flags from thick wooden rods inserted into a tight spring from a clamshell. The picture was complemented by a line with a diameter of 0.5 mm, and instead of sinkers - heavy nuts (remember A. Chekhov's famous story "The Intruder"?). Surprisingly, both in the first and in the second fishing with my coarse tackle, I managed to catch a pike.

This is a vivid example of how you should not equip the vents. But over time, I came to understand how to do it right. Let's talk about this.

Choosing the correct length and diameter for the gutter line
On the lakes where I fish most often, the average weight of a pike caught on a gutter is 1-1.5 kilograms. Therefore, on my tackle I put a line with a diameter of 0.3mm

But my friend a fisherman, who devotes most of his winter fishing to catching predators, tried to equip the girders with a braid. But then he abandoned this idea, since the braided cord was very tangled, and replaced it with ... a rather thick nylon thread. To her, he knits an underbrush of a meter and a half. On the undergrowth, as expected, a load, a leash and a hook. Such a tackle does not frighten the pike, moreover, it allows you to fearlessly drag predators, even if the nylon thread is overwhelmed by a snag or other obstacle at the bottom.

How much line to reel on the gutter? The question is also not idle: if you wind a lot - the pecked pike will go into driftwood or thickets of reeds, if you wind it a little - you will feel resistance and spit out the bait.

I came to the conclusion that after a bite, the pike should have at least three to four meters of free running line. Since the predator, grabbing live bait, prefers to move to a safe distance. The average depth in the lakes where I fish is two meters, so I wind six to seven meters of fishing line on my tackle. I have tackle with 10-12 meters of fishing line - this is for fishing in a deep river oxbow and in the Volga backwater.

Correct weighting of the girder
Many fishermen underestimate the role of this element in the girder rigging, and in vain. And some, repeating the mistakes of my fishing youth, use nuts instead of sinkers, thus reducing the bites to nothing.

Now, having some experience in zerlichny fishing, I am sure that the weight of the sinker should be minimal so that the predator does not feel unnecessary resistance when biting.

The load should only help the live bait to sink to the bottom, and prevent it from rising to the upper layers of the water. But nothing more! This role is perfectly fulfilled by a pellet or a small olive up to three grams. And sometimes the weight of the hardware on a leash is enough.

Finding the right hook and leash
The size of the hook on the girdle depends on the size of the intended object of fishing. With that being said, I put the # 12 "Owner" hooks on triple and double hooks. Despite such a small size, the hooks are very sharp and strong, and if they dig into the mouth of a pike, they will not let go of the predator.

Also, based on my own experience, I advise you not to save on the cost (and, accordingly, on the quality) of the hooks. The correct hook will not dull or rust throughout the season, even with frequent fishing trips.

The length of the leash is very important. I used to use leashes about fifteen centimeters long. I thought that this was enough, but only until recently, when a large pike swallowed live bait along with a leash, the line fell on the tooth and was cut with sharp teeth, like a razor. The conclusions from this I made the only correct ones - I put longer leashes on all the zherlitsa.

And finally correct setting ghost
It all depends on the characteristics of a particular reservoir, therefore, based on my own experience, I can give only the most general recommendations.

At the beginning winter season I put the vents in those places where fry most often grazed in the fall (near the walls of the reeds, over the carpet of aquatic vegetation that has fallen to the bottom). But by the middle of winter, the oxygen regime in the shallows deteriorates, the fry, and after it the predator goes to the depths. Respectively, best result gives the installation of vents at a depth.

In any case, the correct tactic for finding a predator when fishing with girders is to make more holes and often rearrange the tackle. And then the chances increase that your zherlitsa will be in the right place at the right time, where the long-awaited meeting with the hungry pike will take place!

A huge number of winter fishing enthusiasts are fond of fishing with zerlitsy. Someone makes girders with their own hands, someone buys ready-made ones in the store. Most often, un-equipped girders are sold on the shelves, and in this article we will figure out how to properly equip a gutter for fishing pike.

Components of the simplest girder

To equip the simplest pike vents, we need:

  • fishing line with a diameter of at least 0.3mm
  • sinker (I use olives and balls)
  • leash (fluorocarbon or regular)
  • hook (tee or double)
  • retaining rings

Fishing line

You need to choose high-quality fishing line, but in a diameter of 0.3-0.5, an inexpensive Chinese type Tiagra in gold bobbins, etc., does an excellent job. Yes, it can be a little harsh, but the tackle turns out to be quite budgetary. Although we are not supporters of a large number of girders, some anglers have 200 pieces in their arsenal. Equipping them with branded and expensive materials will significantly hit your pocket.

The amount of line reeled on a reel depends on the depths in the bodies of water where you are going to fish. But one condition should be met - the amount of fishing line should be at least 2 depths of the reservoir, plus a small margin of 5-10 meters. Those. if the depth on the river is 6 meters, then the fishing line should be at least 20, since when the bait is gripped, the pike can move a rather long distance. Therefore, always bet with a margin - I use one coil of 100 meters for 3 vents.

Sinkers and hooks for mounting the gutter

We will not dwell on the sinkers. Sufficiently small "olives" weighing about 10-15g. You should also pay attention to the hooks. You need to choose well-tested and high-quality ones. The number of fish exits depends on them. It is preferable if the budget allows to buy an Owner. But you can take a closer look at more budget options like the Cannele. The size should not be very large - 10 or 12 according to the world classification. Single, double or tee? But whoever is more convenient to plant live bait on them!

Leashes

There is a lot of debate among anglers about the preferred choice of a leash. Some put fluorescence in favor of the number of bites, without focusing on strength. Others choose the most durable options. Let's just say, when the pike is quite active, it willingly grabs the bait without looking at the leash material. For active pike, it is better to put more durable options - wire, tungsten, nichrome, kevlar. When the pike is passive, you can mount and. Leash length - 20-25cm

Scheme of rigging a girder for a pike

I will offer a classic version of the rig. We put on a stopper on the main line, then a sinker, and then again a stopper. Next, you need to tie a carabiner to the end of the fishing line or a leash immediately equipped with a swivel - as it is more convenient for anyone. The hook is mounted to the leash with a carabiner.

In the above image, there is no upper stopper, and the tee is mounted immediately on a leash. This scheme is also working, but with the upper stopper, the sinker does not run away along the line when the bait is lowered into the hole. This type of installation is widespread among amateurs. Its advantage is that the assembly time is only a few minutes, it is possible to put various leashes, as well as a small number of components, which affects the total cost of the finished product.

On this our zherlitsa is equipped and ready for fishing!

The autumn pike season is ending. For a certain period of time, the predator forgets about active hunting before winter. But for a person, there is always an interest in fish. Honestly fishing for pike is allowed on the first ice. Therefore, more and more people are interested in pike fishing on ice girders.

But how to properly prepare for ice fishing in winter? For this, special devices have been invented - girders. These are primitive, semi-automatic devices equipped with flags, reel, line, hook and bait.

The principle of operation of the zerlitsa or postavushka is very simple: a plank, equipped with all of the above, is installed on the hole, and a live bait is placed on the hook. When the prey is hooked (grabbed the live bait), it is clearly visible with a signaling flag of a bright color. The fish, seizing the bait, reflects their actions directly on the device of the girder.

But first things first

Zherlitsy have always been called simple devices, equipped to a minimum and intended not only for winter fishing. For one fisherman, you can take up to 10 pieces of supplies, which are placed next to the holes on the ice.

The simplest and most "collective farm" zherlitsa is a plywood board, a cheap reel with fishing line, an antenna flag and a tee or a homemade hook.

Just the latter is the place for live bait. Zhivets or "belly" is a separate topic, we will touch on later.

For homemade girders, keen fishermen will not regret their imagination. They invent flip-flops, tripod poles with a large fishing reel, winter gadgets with flags and bells.

The main thing in ice fishing for the fisherman is not to play the lottery in winter. It so happens that a person has the most convenient and catchy tackle, but the pike or burbot "go" not where expected. I have to do half a day preparatory work, and in the winter hours, each hole freezes very intensely.

There is nothing pleasant in such fishing!

By design, the zherlitsa should be of medium sensitivity. Ideally, this is when the box with a flag is adjusted on site according to the situation. But good tackle should not react to a gust of wind. And it is also inconvenient when the post or the zherlitsa is not visible from afar on a winter evening.

The classic for this tackle is equipped with a guard, a reel holder, a burr stand and a line reel.

Increasingly, fishermen still take into account the terrain, sometimes they modify their homemade products on the ice, having subtracted some gadgets from old magazines of the Soviet era.

About reliability and equipment

We're going to mine predatory fish in subzero temperatures. In winter, the right attitude to the process is to prepare all the gear in advance, attaching the same leashes from the strongest material.

In rural areas, people are used to not spending their last money on fishing equipment, so most of the leashes are made from scrap materials. For a zerlitsa, and any zakidushka, a leash made of steel wire of small diameter is suitable.

It is not a pity to lose the tee, but to be left without tackle for the period of "good" bite on the first ice is not serious.

Saving on line is wrong. Each coil is 30 meters or more.

How does it all happen

The process of fishing on ice lasts around the clock. It is possible to hunt for pike on a girder or post as long as there is strength, opportunity and live bait. Such a tackle is very convenient when traveling to a summer cottage next to a river or lake in winter. But when they go for the purpose of fishing themselves, they gather very early. Before dawn, it is already necessary to drill holes on the first ice.

Everyone takes with him at least a dozen girders, this number is quite enough to be conveniently caught. It is not worth being greedy here because with a good bite you can serve exactly this amount. It is physically difficult to constantly run from flag to flag in winter.

With an average bite, usually 8-10 girders give a good result on fishing. And it is necessary to constantly "catch" free holes after a bite.

In January days, the predator is not so active on the vents. Fishermen in the cold have to move more, search best places in the process of fishing. The pace for changing holes is one hour without a bite. There are more opportunities for getting a good specimen in January.

But in February, the pike goes to the zerlitsa much more intensively. After all, the spawning period is about to begin.

Seat selection

On any fresh water body there are areas where the bite is checked first. They start with thickets of reeds. If the reservoir is familiar, then they go to the snag zone. The river bed is also important, or rather the channel edges.

All of the above ice fishing spots can provide good catches in February and January. But the risk is as follows:

Reeds and driftwood will easily confuse the tackle. In winter, it is very annoying when the pike goes deep. As a result, there is only a reel without a line. Nothing can be reached from the depths.

The riverbed is a moral test for the fisherman. Where, without exploration, one cannot adapt to a reservoir.

How to pick up and plant live bait

The best bait for pike is a small live bait of 8–12 cm, taken from a local reservoir. A small fish should not fall asleep, but, on the contrary, resist with the last bit of strength.

Having correctly planted such a live bait, you should not worry about the fry coming off. The swivel clings to the leash so that the active live bait does not get entangled.

If you manage to buy or catch a small roach somewhere, then boldly hook it onto the hook. The pike will only be happy!

Everyone knows that numbers 6,7 and 8 for a tee are a classic. But you have to be able to handle it.

The most professional way is to hook through the operculum. What is special? Such a hook is safely left overnight. Even in winter, the delivery can stand for half a day, and the live bait will remain "in good shape". There is no damage to the live bait, so the potential result will be greater in the winter.

When hooking along the ridge, you need to very carefully thread a tee or a double, so as not to damage the spinal bone of the live bait. Otherwise, live bait will not last an hour.

How a predator gets on the tackle

Fishermen without experience are guided only by the signal flag, but it is better, of course, to assess the overall picture on winter fishing.

For example, there is a reaction to one of the girders, where the fishing line is actively drained. Under water at this time, the pike has already firmly grabbed the live bait, but is trying to transfer the prey to a safe place. Small pauses associated with coil stopping signal the level of activity. Those fishermen who understand the behavior of predators can easily determine the size of an individual even before playing.

Having moved away to a safe distance, the pike starts eating prey. Here you need to boldly hook and get out without fuss. In general, any kind of fishing is a measured event, especially when it is very cold.

It is easy to get a pike, it is stupid to use a landing net on the ice. Here is a hook in winter - a thing! The main thing is not to reach the moment when the pike cuts the line.

And once again about the process of catching

In winter, you came to the pond and made holes for fishing. Per a short time you need to collect the girders. Ideal for guidance is a lead weight at the very end of the line or leash.

  1. We cling to the lead and so we throw it all into the hole. The first cast is exploration or orientation for perspective fishing. When the weight touches the bottom, it is necessary to tighten the line so that the weight rises slightly.
  2. Then the zherlitsa "charges" itself, or rather the flag is bent. The end of the flag should support the supply spool. The preparation stage has been passed.
  3. Then they take out the end with lead and put live bait on the tee.

That's all! Either we are waiting, or we are busy with other gear.

It is best to take a few sets and use the orientation method to "catch" transitions from depth to aground.

The checkbox is on !!!

The signal flag is finally visible! How to be? Earlier it was said that sudden movements and actions are unacceptable. Therefore, we carefully wind the line onto the reel, waiting for a little resistance. Then, without excitement, they take the reels themselves and perform a hooking. If the pike has "sat down", then take it out as usual, measuredly collecting the line on the reel.

The easiest way to get a pike on the ice is with a hook, but this is with an impressive size of prey, of course. And for a large specimen you need a bigger hole!
