An excerpt characterizing Shesterkin, Igor Olegovich

The movement of peoples begins to fit into their shores. The waves of the great movement have receded, and circles are formed on the calm sea, along which diplomats rush, imagining that they are the ones who produce the calmness of the movement.
But the still sea suddenly rises. It seems to diplomats that they, their disagreements, are the cause of this new pressure of forces; they expect war between their sovereigns; the situation seems insoluble to them. But the wave, the rise of which they feel, rushes not from where they expect it. The same wave rises from the same starting point of movement - Paris. The last spurt of the movement from the west is taking place; a splash that should resolve seemingly insoluble diplomatic difficulties and put an end to the belligerent movement of this period.
The man who devastated France, alone, without conspiracy, without soldiers, comes to France. Every watchman can take it; but, by a strange coincidence, not only does no one take, but everyone greeted with delight the person who was cursed a day ago and will be cursed in a month.
This man is still needed to justify the last cumulative action.
The action is complete. The last role has been played. The actor is told to undress and wash off the antimony and blush: he will no longer be needed.
And several years pass in the fact that this man, alone on his island, plays in front of himself a miserable comedy, petty intrigues and lies, justifying his actions, when an excuse is no longer needed, and shows the whole world what it was, what people took for strength when an invisible hand led them.
The manager, after finishing the drama and undressing the actor, showed him to us.
- Look what you believed! Here it is! Do you see now that it was not he, but I who moved you?
But, blinded by the force of the movement, people did not understand this for a long time.
An even greater consistency and necessity is presented by the life of Alexander I, the person who stood at the head of the opposition movement from east to west.
What is needed for that person who, overshadowing others, would stand at the head of this movement from east to west?
A sense of justice is needed, participation in the affairs of Europe, but distant, not obscured by petty interests; you need the predominance of moral heights over comrades - the sovereigns of that time; a meek and attractive personality is needed; a personal insult against Napoleon is needed. And all this is in Alexander I; all this was prepared by the countless so-called accidents of his entire past life: and education, and liberal undertakings, and surrounding advisers, and Austerlitz, and Tilsit, and Erfurt.
During the people's war, this person is inactive, because he is not needed. But as soon as the need for a common European war appears, this face at the given moment appears in its place and, uniting the European peoples, leads them to the goal.
The goal has been achieved. After the last war of 1815, Alexander is at the pinnacle of possible human power. How does he use it?
Alexander I, the pacifier of Europe, a man who, from a young age, strived only for the good of his peoples, the first instigator of liberal innovations in his fatherland, now, when, it seems, he possesses the greatest power and therefore the opportunity to do the good of his peoples, while Napoleon is in exile makes childish and deceitful plans about how he would make mankind happy if he had power, Alexander I, having fulfilled his calling and feeling the hand of God on himself, suddenly recognizes the nullity of this imaginary power, turns away from it, transfers it into the hands of those despised by him and despicable people and only says:
- "Not for us, not for us, but for your name!" I am a person just like you; leave me to live as a person and think about my soul and about God.

Just as the sun and each atom of the ether is a ball, complete in itself and at the same time only an atom inaccessible to man in terms of the enormity of the whole, so each person carries his own goals in himself and, meanwhile, carries them in order to serve common goals inaccessible to man. ...
A bee sitting on a flower stung a child. And the child is afraid of bees and says that the purpose of the bee is to sting people. The poet admires a bee digging into a flower's calyx and says that the purpose of the bee is to absorb the scent of flowers. The beekeeper, noticing that the bee collects flower dust and brings it to the hive, says that the purpose of the bee is to collect honey. Another beekeeper, having studied the life of the swarm more closely, says that the bee collects dust for feeding young bees and raising a queen, that its purpose is to reproduce. The botanist notices that, flying with the dust of a dioecious flower onto the pistil, the bee fertilizes it, and the botanist sees the purpose of the bee in this. Another, observing the transmigration of plants, sees that the bee is contributing to this transmigration, and this new observer can say that this is the purpose of the bee. But the ultimate goal of the bee is not limited to either one or the other or the third goal that the human mind is able to open. The higher the human mind rises in the discovery of these goals, the more obvious it is for him the inaccessibility of the ultimate goal.
Man can only observe the correspondence of the bee's life with other phenomena of life. The same with the goals of historical persons and peoples.

The wedding of Natasha, who married Bezukhov in the 13th year, was the last joyful event in the old Rostov family. In the same year, Count Ilya Andreevich died, and, as always happens, with his death, the old family fell apart.
The events of the last year: the fire of Moscow and the flight from it, the death of Prince Andrey and Natasha's despair, the death of Petya, the grief of the countess - all this, like blow after blow, fell on the head of the old count. He did not seem to understand and felt unable to understand the meaning of all these events and, morally bending his old head, as if expecting and asking for new blows that would end him. He seemed now frightened and confused, now unnaturally lively and adventurous.
Natasha's wedding temporarily occupied him with its outer side. He ordered lunches, dinners and, apparently, wanted to appear cheerful; but his joy was not communicated, as before, but, on the contrary, aroused compassion in people who knew and loved him.
After Pierre and his wife left, he calmed down and began to complain of melancholy. A few days later he fell ill and went to bed. From the first days of his illness, despite the consolations of the doctors, he realized that he would not get up. The Countess, without undressing, spent two weeks in an armchair at his head. Every time she gave him medicine, he sobbed silently kissed her hand. On the last day, sobbing, he asked forgiveness from his wife and from his son in absentia for ruining the estate - the main guilt he felt for himself. Having received communion and singing out, he quietly died, and the next day a crowd of acquaintances who had come to pay their last debt to the deceased filled the Rostovs' rented apartment. All these acquaintances, who had dined and danced with him so many times, had laughed at him so many times, now all with the same feeling of inner reproach and affection, as if justifying themselves to someone, said: “Yes, there, anyway, but the loveliest one was human. You won't find such people today ... But who doesn't have their own weaknesses? .. "
It was at the time when the count's affairs were so confused that it was impossible to imagine how it would all end if it continued for another year, he suddenly died.
Nikolai was with the Russian troops in Paris when the news of his father's death came to him. He immediately resigned and, without waiting for her, took a leave of absence and came to Moscow. The state of monetary affairs a month after the death of the count became completely clear, surprising everyone with the enormity of the amount of various small debts, the existence of which no one even suspected. There were twice as many debts as the estates.
Relatives and friends advised Nikolai to abandon the inheritance. But Nikolai saw in the rejection of the inheritance an expression of reproach to the sacred memory of his father and therefore did not want to hear about the rejection and accepted the inheritance with the obligation to pay debts.
The creditors, who had been silent for so long, being tied during the count's life by that vague but powerful influence that his dissolute kindness had on them, suddenly all filed for recovery. There was, as always happens, competition - who will receive first - and the very people who, like Mitenka and others, had money-free bills of exchange - gifts, were now the most demanding creditors. Nicholas was not given any time or rest, and those who, apparently, felt sorry for the old man who was the culprit of their loss (if there were any losses), now mercilessly attacked the apparently innocent young heir before them, who voluntarily took upon himself the payment.
None of the revolutions supposed by Nicholas succeeded; the estate was sold at half price, and half of the debts remained unpaid. Nikolai took the thirty thousand offered to him by his son-in-law Bezukhov to pay that part of the debts, which he recognized as monetary, real debts. And so that for the remaining debts not to be planted in a pit, with which his creditors threatened him, he again entered the service.
It was impossible to go to the army, where he was in the first vacancy of the regimental commander, because the mother was now clinging to her son as the last bait of life; and therefore, despite his unwillingness to remain in Moscow with people who knew him before, despite his disgust for civil service, he took a job in Moscow in the civil service and, having removed his favorite uniform, settled with his mother and Sonya in a small apartment, in Sivtsev Vrazhka.
Natasha and Pierre lived at that time in St. Petersburg, without a clear idea of the situation of Nicholas. Nikolai, having borrowed money from his son-in-law, tried to hide his plight from him. Nikolai's position was especially bad because with his thousand two hundred rubles of his salary, he not only had to support himself, Sonya and his mother, but he had to support his mother so that she would not notice that they were poor. The countess could not understand the possibility of life without the conditions of luxury familiar to her from childhood and constantly, not understanding how difficult it was for her son, she demanded that the crew, which they did not have, to send for a friend, then expensive food for herself and wine for son, then money to make a surprise gift to Natasha, Sonya and the same Nikolai.

Igor Shesterkin is a young hockey player who can boast of a lot of achievements and great prospects. The hockey player began his sports career with performances for the Wings of the Soviets club in Moscow. Igor got into the youth squad of "Spartak" as a result of selection at the annual fair of juniors in the Kontinental Hockey League. At the same time, the young man played for the Russian youth hockey team. In addition to sports awards received at domestic and international competitions, Igor is one of the eligible suitors.

Childhood and youth

Igor Olegovich Shesterkin was born in Moscow on New Year's Eve 1995 - December 30. Nothing is known about the family of the young athlete. Igor also does not like to tell journalists about his childhood.

Igor ended up in the hockey section by accident. A peer of the future hockey player, who lived next door, invited Shesterkin to go with the company to watch the training of the children's section. The guys who skillfully handle the stick and puck on the ice inspired Igor to his own victories. Although before that the child was successfully engaged in swimming. But since Igor grew up an active child, the adrenaline at hockey games attracted him much more than the calm waters of the pool.

By the way, it is with swimming that Igor, the son of short parents, associates his growth. According to the information provided on the official website of the KHL, Shesterkin's height is 185 cm with a weight of 83 kg.

Shesterkin showed his first sporting achievements as part of the Wings of the Soviets hockey team (among themselves they were called Wings). Among the first coaches, Igor in an interview recalls Evgeny Sergeevich Poleev and Igor Gennadievich Efimov. The athlete remembers Poleeva with special warmth. As part of Krylya, Igor played in the matches of the Moscow Ice Hockey Federation Cup, as well as in youth tournaments.

Hockey

In May 2012, the KHL Draft Procedure took place at the Traktor Ice Arena in Chelyabinsk. During the fair, representatives of the professional ice hockey club "Spartak" drew attention to a talented 17-year-old boy. So Igor entered professional sports, but first as a player in a youth hockey club. For the youth team, Shesterkin played 13 matches, showing himself to be a professional hockey player capable of playing in the Major League. It was a great honor for the young man to play for Spartak, his father was rooting for this club.

Already in February 2013, Shesterkin's surname was listed in the application for the Major League match against the Slovakian club Slovan. However, that time Igor remained on the bench. But after 2 weeks the young athlete made his debut in the hockey tournament "Cup of Hope". The goalkeeper of the main squad Jan Lashak played unsuccessfully, conceding 2 goals in a short period of time. Then the coach decided to release young Igor Shesterkin onto the ice. Igor showed himself to be a talented goalkeeper with excellent reaction. After spending almost an hour on the ice, Shesterkin conceded only 1 goal.

Thanks to his skillful play in that match, Igor trained with the main squad for the 2013-2014 season. The hockey player's finest hour struck in the match, which took place on October 31, 2013. "Spartak" fought with the Austrians from "Red Bull", throughout the game the forces were equal and in the last seconds it was Shesterkin who scored the decisive puck, which brought victory to "Spartak" and the popularity of his goalkeeper. And although this match took place only within the framework of the youth league, for Igor it turned out to be the most important milestone in his sports biography.

4 months later, Shesterkin already played in the main squad for Spartak, but in that match, Ugra, representing the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, won a landslide victory. Despite a poor start to the year, in 2014 Shesterkin took over as the club's main goalkeeper and spent most of his matches on the ice.

And already in mid-2014, Igor and 15 of his colleagues in the ice arena signed a contract with the SKA club from St. Petersburg. At the same time, information appeared in the media that it was Shesterkin who became the main goal of the SKA coach, and the rest of the players turned out to be secondary. Soon Igor left Russia and went to the United States, where he became a member of the New York Rangers National Hockey League club.

At the same time, Igor continued to play in the KHL for SKA, although not always successfully. Nevertheless, in the 2014-2015 season, Shesterkin, as part of his club, became the winner of the playoff tournament and received the Gagarin Cup.

The international career of the Russian hockey player was also developing successfully, as evidenced by official statistics. In 2014, Igor became the winner of the annual series of 6 hockey matches between the Russian youth team and the national teams of the Canadian Hockey League. And in 2015, the Russian youth team with Shesterkin as the main goalkeeper earned silver medals at the World Championship.

In 2016, the already adult Russian national team introduced Igor to the application, but the young man remained on the bench, although he received bronze medals for the 3rd place. But in the period from November 3 to 6, matches for the Karjala Cup were held in Finland, where Igor stood at the gate. At the end of the match, the team received gold medals.

Personal life

Igor does not like to tell journalists and fans about his family or personal life. Nevertheless, information appeared in the media that Tatyana Okhulkova, a participant in the scandalous television show Dom-2, suddenly became interested in hockey and did not miss a single match with Shesterkin's participation.

Tatyana Okhulkova was considered the girlfriend of Igor Shesterkin

Then there were persistent rumors that Igor and his girlfriend Tatyana were in a relationship, but they carefully hide this fact. However, neither the athlete nor Okhulkova officially confirmed this information.

In the photo on Instagram, Igor periodically appears in women's society, but each time the athlete poses in the company of new beauties. In his free time, Igor attends social events, travels

Igor Shesterkin now

In the 2016-2017 season, Igor Shesterkin finally joined the senior Russian national football team and was even recognized as the best goalkeeper in a series of friendly matches between national teams.

And in 2017, Igor again became the bronze medalist of the World Ice Hockey Championship, never going out on the ice.

In January 2018, Igor took part in the annual friendly game held with the participation of the strongest KHL hockey players. Astana became the venue for the games. As for the holding of the Olympic Games in 2018, Shesterkin does not want to discuss this topic in the media.

If Russian hockey were a fairy tale, then SKA in it would certainly be a fire-breathing dragon that steals babies and burns villages in one breath. This is the established image of the monster for which the club from St. Petersburg has been working for years. It is believed that the "army men" from the banks of the Neva are bought by the players indiscriminately and from yesterday's provincial leaders they make shopkeepers in the shortest possible time.

In reality, there are slightly more ruined souls in the SKA collection than in the conditional Ak Bars, but, for example, the degradation Evgeniya Ketova quite eloquent. Together with him, until recently, SKA was ranked among the victims of the "bloody regime" Igor Shesterkin.

Even last fall, literally everyone who is concerned about the fate of Shesterkin shouted in unison: "The guy is missing!" did not like the young goalkeeper, only on major holidays including him in the application. For the first time, Shesterkin managed to go out on the ice only at the end of November, when Nazarov - Zubov was cast in coaching in St. Petersburg. This was Igor's second season in the northern capital, but the long-awaited breakthrough did not happen. After six games in 2014/15, seven games last season looked like nothing more than a handout. One of the most talented goalkeepers in the country was sitting in a blank reserve and had practically no chance to prove himself. And this at a time when other clubs badly needed a backup, or even the main goalkeeper.

Sorokin trod the path for Shesterkin, and Moses for Tikhonov

Moses' return to the KHL, Nikolishin's appointment to Amur, Zherdev's arrival at Torpedo and Shesterkin's first match - in the events of the KHL week.

From the very beginning, it seemed that Shesterkin was uncomfortable in uniform with a star on his chest. That only is the loud statement that he remains a Spartak player, even speaking for SKA. Igor is a straight guy, open in a youthful way. He once expressed dissatisfaction with his role in public, which players of even higher status rarely allow themselves. It seemed that Shesterkin and SKA were not on their way.

From the very beginning, it seemed that Shesterkin was uncomfortable in uniform with a star on his chest. That only is the loud statement that he remains a Spartak player, even speaking for SKA.

During the more than two years that the goalkeeper spent in St. Petersburg, he could leave the camp of the "army team" several times. He was ready to be transported to Yekaterinburg Leonid Vaysfeld, and "Siberia" looked at him as a possible backup for Salak. However, the most realistic option was Spartak. Last summer, Muscovites were choosing between Shestyorkin and Ivannikov, but, stopping at Eugene, they miscalculated.

Igor Shestyorkin is only 20 years old, and his career has gone through more than one serious round. He twice became a participant in the massive transfer of players from one club to another. First, Igor moved from his family Krylia Sovetov to Spartak, and then became participants in a loud exchange with the participation of 16 (!) Spartak players in SKA. Few will remember who moved with Shesterkin to the club from St. Petersburg. Artyom Batrak, for example, without trying on the uniform of the "army", ended his career and went to TV to build a career as a commentator. Nikolay Demidov, who once played with Shesterkin for the junior national team, survived a serious injury and now plays in Angarsk. From the entire huge list in the SKA system, two remained: Arkhip Nekolenko - another Spartak player with roots from Setun and, in fact, Shesterkin himself.

Righteous revolt of Shesterkin

The transfer of 16 ex-Spartak players to SKA turned into the fact that some had already left the club from St. Petersburg, while others were unhappy with their role.

Even despite the fact that 94-95 b. in Russia, they are generous with goalkeeping talents, Shesterkin always had a place in the national team. This further emphasizes how dangerous it was for all our hockey to pickle it in the St. Petersburg shop. In the form of the national team, Igor held two excellent tournaments, which, alas, ended in great disappointment. On the ice of the Bolshoi in 2013, the team Igor Kravchuk demonstrated nice and sincere hockey, and Shesterkin's tears were just as sincere after the defeat from the Americans in the semifinals.

Right now, Shesterkin is the hottest goalkeeper in the league. In the match against Jokerit, he completed the fifth shutout of the season and the fourth in a row.

It was painful to look at the young goalkeeper in Toronto, where in the 2015 MFM finals he was hit by a Canadian ice rink and gave way to Sorokin by the third minute. All these tough blows of fate, coupled with the hopeless situation in the club, could break the guy with a still not strong psyche.

It is difficult to understand where the turning point occurred in the novel of Shesterkin and SKA. Someone will say that the World Cup helped him to win a place in the goal. The departure of Mikko Koskinen to the location of the Finnish national team did not leave the coaching staff a choice but to use someone from the Shesterkin - Ivannikov tandem. It can be assumed that a new impetus in his career was given to Igor by the inclusion in the Russian national team for the home world championship. Even though he did not play a single match in Moscow and was in many ways a decorative figure, a couple of weeks in the same boat with the best hockey players in the country is a huge experience. And the medal of the adult world championship, even a bronze one, is a milestone in his career. There is, however, another version of why SKA has finally turned to Shesterkin. And she is connected with ... CSKA, Dmitry Kvartalnov and Ilya Sorokin.

How long will Fast's contract "choke" Sorokin?

While expensive legionnaire Viktor Fast makes mistake after mistake, promising Ilya Sorokin is forced to wait for his chance at CSKA.

Don't underestimate the power of a positive example. Not everyone is ready to take the risk of becoming a pioneer, but walking along the already trodden path is much calmer. For example, this summer Siberia decided to independently raise a KHL-level goalkeeper from Alexei Krasikov. Isn't it the history of Magnitka and Ilya Samsonov inspired in Novosibirsk?

The departure of Mikko Koskinen to the location of the Finnish national team did not leave the coaching staff a choice but to use someone from the Shesterkin - Ivannikov tandem.

So SKA, it seems, changed their minds after in another “army” club, without sentimentality and prejudice, they made a choice in favor of a young goalkeeper, and not a multimillion-dollar Swede. But at the beginning of last season, Sorokin's position in CSKA was not much better than Shesterkin's role in SKA. However, the plowing of Novokuznechanin and the courage of Kvartalnov led to a real coup at the last frontier of Muscovites: Stanislav Galimov went to Kazan, and Viktor Fast went to the bench.

Right now, Shesterkin is the hottest goalkeeper in the league. In the match against Jokerit, he completed the fifth shutout of the season and the fourth in a row. Igor has no equal in the collection of crackers among the Kahaelo goalkeepers, as well as in the duration of the dry streak for SKA goalkeepers. In the game with the "jesters" the 20-year-old goalkeeper set a club record. It's too early to say that Koskinen fate awaits Fasta, but he has already proved that Shesterkin can henceforth be considered on a par with the Finnish giant. Those more than two years that Igor spent in St. Petersburg is a story about patience and hands that do not give up even in a hopeless situation. A real talent is able to break even through the millstones of a superclub and become one of 16 who stayed afloat.

Fast news today

He came from Spartak and is adored in St. Petersburg.

Igor Shesterkin started at a club that did not have a main team

The history of Igor Shesterkin's appearance in hockey is simple, like SKA's rivals this season. As you know, most future stars get into sports through friendship - this is when your friend goes to the section, and you are with him for company. A few years later, the one who followed the company is distributing batches of interviews, and the main participant of the “Bring a friend” campaign gets lost in the routine of life. In Igor's case, it was a neighbor who captivated the future SKA goalkeeper and his parents with the game, and the Shesterkin family got in touch with Wings of the Soviets - then the school was still with the main team in the Super League, but the older Igor got older, the more the club remained more wings and less tips. By the time Shesterkin graduated from the Youth Sports School, there was no main team in any form.

And yes, any hockey goalkeeper has an obligatory programmatic story of how he could become a field player, but he made an important decision - and life went on the right path. For Shesterkin, it is not the most typical: a year after coming to school, when the division into roles began, Igor immediately agreed to stand in the gate - he liked it. Only now, at a more conscious age, when there were no goalkeepers besides him in Wings-95 (one was dragging partners for a couple of seasons), Igor asked to be “in the field”. He freaked out a little, but the coach, Evgeny Poleev, calmed the guy down, helped him get a new goalkeeper uniform. So history saved Shesterkin for SKA and the Russian national teams, although it did not kill attacking desires in him, but more on that later.

I got to Spartak quite by accident

Everyone knows that the “Talent Fair” draft of juniors in the KHL is a rather strange event both in terms of meaning and organization. But Shesterkin's example shows that this procedure could have intrigue and arouse a certain interest, if club breeders and general managers treated their work as responsibly as they do overseas.

Well, just for a second: Igor Shesterkin, the candidate for the main position in the junior Russian U18 team, not tied to any KHL club, is taken from the 2012 draft only in the second round under the overall 43rd number. That is, while the general managers were choosing their own pupils and far-sightedly booking the rights to such guys as Tomas Gertl, Rasmus Ristolainen, Radek Faksa and Rikard Rakkel, Shesterkin sat and was bored. At the same time, in the first round, three little-known pupils of Krylia Sovetov quietly left, but the goalkeeper was not in demand.

And one could praise the representatives of Spartak for such a clever and sensible decision (Igor is their first choice in that draft), but in the end it became clear that this, in fact, was also an accident. A few minutes after the Shesterkin draft, the Muscovites chose the players who were doomed to defend in advance (and, naturally, their native clubs defended them), and then the red and whites managed to name the hockey player whose rights had already passed. Applause.

In general, theoretically Igor could have been in the SKA system much earlier, but the representatives of St. Petersburg, who, by the way, were the first in the draft, proved themselves to be those still specialists. The main star of that draft - number one Denis Aleksandrov - was stuck in SKA-Neva, never playing for the main team, and in general, all the hockey players chosen by the army men played only one match in the KHL.

Knows how to score goals

In the youth "Spartak", the 16-year-old goalkeeper did well right away - of course, the calls to the junior national team stole playing time in the MHL, but at this age it is perhaps even better - it is easier for scouts to notice through international tournaments. With a shortage of time in the youth team and two rivals at the goal, two years older than Shesterkin, he showed himself well - he played 15 matches with the best statistics in the regular season and brought the red-and-white ones to the Kharlamov Cup final.

Shesterkin is, of course, one of the main stars released by the MHL, but nevertheless, the first thing that comes to mind is not his crazy rescues, but the goal against the Austrian Red Bull in one of the regular season matches.

Igor later admitted that he had a desire to score a goal for a long time - a few months before that he had tried this trick at the 2013 World Junior Championships, but in the end there was an assist there. Shesterkin, by the way, realized not only his dream - the coach of MHC "Spartak" Oleg Bratash, himself a former goalkeeper, was happy with this puck as his own.

In the MHL you had to pay for it

Generations of players that are older and have long since stopped playing, constantly like to focus on the salaries of modern young hockey players - they say, "but we played for the idea." Shesterkin is a clear example of the fact that young people love hockey first of all. And it’s hard to love money when you’re a Spartak player in the early 10s, and you just don’t always remember what it looks like.

When Igor made his full debut in the KHL in early 2014 and played his first matches, he received an invitation to the Challenge Cup - an analogue of the All-Star Game in the MHL. Shesterkin could have refused - firstly, the status of already played in the main Russian league, and secondly, Spartak's lack of money even for a flight to Nizhny Novgorod, where the East vs West game was played. Neither his own pride, nor the poverty of the club stopped Igor - he was going to pay the way himself, but, fortunately, the Youth League took it upon himself, not allowing shame. Shesterkin then took revenge from the East for last year's defeat, and was very pleased.

The second case is no longer Shesterkin's nobility, but his impulsiveness. Showing Effenberg's gestures to the Red Army fans even after a missed puck in overtime in the sixth match of the Kharlamov Cup final is not a smart idea. Especially when your club is bankrupt, which no longer has a team in the KHL. Naturally, the league disqualified Shesterkin for the decisive match of the final series and fined 40 thousand rubles. But the payment of this amount was taken over by the Fratria fan association - at that moment they were clearly wealthier than their favorite hockey club.

By the way, it was Spartak's fans who somehow helped the team during that MHL playoffs, paying "prize money" for entering each round on their own behalf. And after all, Bratash's hockey players on bread, water and Spartak spirit became champions then.

Could have ended up in Avtomobilist or Lokomotiv

Igor is a participant in the most massive transition in the history of the league: in the summer of 2014, SKA bought the rights to 14 players of the already defunct KHL Spartak, which was presented by the Petersburgers and the league as the salvation of unemployed hockey players, and everyone perceived it as another entertainment of the St. Petersburg oligarchs. The most curious thing is that Shesterkin himself had already agreed on everything with the general manager of Avtomobilist Leonid Vaysfeld and was preparing to take away playing time from Yakub Kovar. There was also an offer from Yaroslavl, where the former coach of MHC Spartak Oleg Bratash was invited.

A similar situation with an involuntary move to St. Petersburg clearly did not fit into the goalkeeper's plans, and therefore he was marked by a series of rather harsh statements by the standards of a peace-loving league: “SKA sweater? I am quite satisfied with the sweater with the inscription “Russia” ”(“ Soviet sport ”),“ I still consider myself a Spartak ”(Fanat1k.ru),“ In principle, it is very difficult to break through, I do not argue, and I would be glad to exchange "(" R-Sport "). But, of course, the most memorable was this quote from the Krylia pupil and the ex-Spartak player from the same interview to Sovsport: “Unfortunately, wherever I go, everything will soon collapse. Now let's see what happens to Peter. "

It seemed that the exchange of a talkative goalkeeper was inevitable - SKA had enough (and to be honest, there was an overkill) of much less impulsive goalkeepers, but in the end they changed anyone, just not the young Spartak player. The head coach of the army team Vyacheslav Bykov did not pay any attention to such interviews at all, only noted that Shesterkin was damp, but he would get his chance. And for that, of course, we should thank him.

By the way, from the red-and-white list that joined SKA, only Shesterkin played in the club (most of them toil in the VHL or ended their careers - for example, Artem Batrak became a commentator on KHL TV). And the thought involuntarily creeps in that all this wholesale purchase was made only for his sake.

By the age of 19, he had four finals and two cups in his career.

It is strange, of course, but Shesterkin practically did not appear in the national teams of his age before appearing in Spartak. But as soon as they began to look at him in the national teams, he became the first number. So it was, for example, in the U18 team of Igor Kravchuk, which was quite a bit short of the medal: then in Sochi, only in the series of semifinal shootouts in the USA, for which Jack Eikel played, did not allow Shesterkin to hack to death for gold with the Canadians, who were already ruled by McDavid. The Finns, on the other hand, left Russia altogether without medals a day later.

Shesterkin, by the way, took revenge from Aikel a little later - in January 2015, sending him straight home after the MFM quarterfinals. Then he took 39 shots out of 41 - that was enough. And Igor did meet with McDavid's team in the final, but we remember how it ended, although the goalkeeper has the least complaints about that tournament, of course.

At that tournament, he looked stronger than Sorokin, with whom, by the way, he is still friends from the training camp at the first junior tournaments.

Igor showed himself better than the rest in the domestic youth championship - that is why he joined the work in the Continental League so early. Shesterkin spent three incomplete seasons in the MHL, but each time he entered the playoffs as the main goalkeeper and brought his teams to the final - and here there are no coincidences. The third time he did it already with SKA-1946 - and it's funny that that April he almost took two trophies at once - formally the Gagarin Cup (he had already been announced and played for St. Petersburg) and actually the Kharlamov Cup. But "The Seagull" in the final of the JHL did not allow, and SKA coped with "Ak Bars" - Igor has an absentee title.

Completed the entire KHL chain

In fact, Shesterkin has no merits only at the level of the VHL, where the army team periodically sent him - first to SKA-Karelia, and then to SKA-Neva. But do not think that Igor is somehow annoyed by this fact - there he received exactly as much necessary practice as was necessary to return back to the main team. His statistics (95.4% of reflected shots, safety factor - 1.19) also hints that the goalkeeper has outgrown this level.

It would be good to make Shesterkin the face of the KHL in general - not only is he a clear example of how in several seasons a drafted guy can prove himself at all levels and become the main one in the richest club, so also the debut of 18-year-old Igor in the league fell on such a dubious tournament like the Cup of Hope, where the red and white whiled away the time until the vacation. It seems that he took part in all the actions of Alexander Medvedev's project - except that he did not go to the KHL All-Star Game (but this season should correct the situation).

In general, it is not surprising that during the bankruptcy of Spartak's main sponsor, the league itself acquired the rights to Shesterkin (well, other young players). It is still interesting how much the KHL received (and whether it received) for the sale of the rights to Shesterkin SKA.

In SKA - a record, in Spartak - an anti-record

The most unpleasant time in Shesterkin's career - 19 defeats in a row in the poverty-stricken Spartak without a sponsor. Jeff Glass was traded at that time, Alexei Ivanov had an injury, so Igor had to become an accomplice in this series of defeats. But, perhaps, the main thing here is that he finished it: 33 reflected throws out of 33 - and a completely unexpected guest victory of Muscovites in Bratislava.

For all Shesterkin's talent, in fact, his full-fledged debut in the KHL was a coincidence: if he hadn't lost his license to Investbank, hadn't exchanged Spartak because of this Glass, hadn't gotten Ivanov injured - Igor's entry into the starting lineup would have been postponed, most likely , until next season. It seemed that in SKA it would be even more difficult - the budget is many times more serious, the system is larger, the goalkeepers are simply darkness. Here the stars had to stand up like a rhombus, and not Spartak - they don't like this in St. Petersburg.

But Shesterkin's trick is that he never waited for a chance, but just worked. He performed well in the super series with the Canadian junior leagues - became the main goalkeeper of the youth team - brought it to the final - earned three matches for SKA from Vyacheslav Bykov as the main one - created a groundwork for the next season with a good game.

Andrei Nazarov, however, intervened in the scheme in the summer of 2015, who worked according to the principle of "Playing time - to Kovalchuk and legionnaires", but Shesterkin did not change the scheme and continued to work. The result - with seven matches of Igor in the regular KHL championship, he finished the spring at the adult world championship in the Russian national team. Yes, in many respects it was a tour in advance, but due to his ability to work and potential, he should be there.

And even after such a spring, the SKA goalkeeper does not demolish the tower - because he knows that in the new season and in the new status he needs to work even more. As a result, he produced a record dry streak in the history of St. Petersburg residents - 273 minutes 6 seconds, made the most shutouts in the league and ousted Koskinen, who was chilling at the World Cup, from the main post.

Now Shesterkin is trying to win the competition in the national team against his friend Sorokin, so that he can skate on Eurotours as the main one and go to the world championships no longer as a tourist. Once he did it.
