How to use a spinning reel for a beginner angler. Spinning reels - how to use and rating of the best models

The easiest way to catch predatory fish is to arm yourself with a spinning rod and go to the pond where this fish is found. If you have any experience with spinning, then this is not a problem. If the spinning rod is picked up for the first time, then the first thing that needs to be mastered is the casting technique. Spinning is a tackle that has its own characteristics, depending on which reel is installed on the rod. Basically, they resort to installing a spinning reel, which is easy to use and has acceptable functionality. Whichever reel is installed, you still need to master the casting technique. In addition, you will have to train for accuracy and casting distance, since the effectiveness of all fishing depends on this.

This article is intended for those spinners who have picked up a spinning rod for the first time in their life and are thinking about how to use it correctly and effectively. Any theoretical knowledge should be supported by practical skills. Theory and practice is the force that allows you to always have a positive result. Having mastered the basics, which are voiced in theory, it is easy to master the practice of using spinning tackle.

First, you need to understand how the spinning rod is thrown in general and how it can be thrown, depending on the fishing conditions. After all, fishing conditions can be different, depending on the reservoir. It can be a body of water with clean banks or a body of water where, due to thickets, it is difficult to approach clean water. In addition, thickets are also possible in the water, which requires very accurate casts. Based on real conditions, it is possible to use the following options for casting a spinning rod:

  • Vertical.
  • Horizontal.
  • Pendulum.
  • Catapult.

And now, in more detail about the technique of each cast.

Vertical casting

It is used almost always, if nothing interferes on the shore. It is very easy to learn and effective method casting, allowing you to deliver the bait exactly to the designated place.

Vertical casting over the head is the main option for casting spinning lures. To implement it, you need to find a point on the surface of the water where the bait is supposed to be delivered. With the help of a reel, the line is rolled up so that the bait is 20 cm from the tip of the rod. After that, the arch of the line guide opens and the line is pressed with the index finger to the blank of the rod.

The rod is thrown behind the back, after which, with a sharp forward movement, the bait is, as it were, shot in the desired direction. In this case, the tip of the rod should point in the same direction, and the line with the rod is in a straight line. At this moment, the finger releases the line, and the bait flies freely where it is intended. During the flight, the line is unwound from the reel drum. When the bait has splashed down, the bail is returned to starting position and wait for the bait to take its position in the water column. Then you can post.

This casting option is used in the specific case when vertical casting is impossible for a number of reasons. The first reason is associated with the presence of vegetation located overhead in the vertical casting area. The second reason is associated with the fact that at the point or its limits, where the bait can splash down, there is also overhanging vegetation. Despite the fact that it will not be possible to deliver the bait far enough by side casting, with its help the bait can actually be delivered to the exactly indicated place.

This casting technique is very effective on small rivers, where long-distance casting is completely useless, but accurate casting is just the way. In this case, the bait flies over the surface of the water and hits exactly the place that is located under the branches of the trees hanging over the water.

The only drawback of this throwing technique is the need for long training sessions. It will not be possible to cast the bait accurately and correctly the first time. If you master perfectly this technique, then you can safely consider yourself a master of spinning fishing.

How the horizontal casting technique is performed

The casting technique is the same, only the spinning rod is retracted not behind the back, as in the first case (with vertical casting), but to the side, either to the left or to the right. As in the first case, first you need to decide on the direction of casting and the point of delivery of the bait. Casting accuracy depends on the moment the line is released from the clamp. In the process of horizontal casting, a clear reaction is required for the timely release of the fishing line, which is possible only after long training sessions.

Pendulum and ejection casts are used very rarely due to the complexity of its implementation and difficult fishing conditions. This can happen if there are significant thickets on the shore, and the place is very promising. But before that, you should think about how you will subsequently be able to pull the bait out of the water, and even more so with a trophy.

How to perform pendulum casting

Pull the lure to the tip of the rod, lower the bow of the line guide and grab the line with your finger. After that, the bait, as it were, swings and with a sharp movement from under itself is directed to the desired point. The main thing is not to forget in time to remove your finger from the fishing line.

Such a technique will not allow you to cast the bait far, but this is not required, since the main task is to send the bait exactly to the designated place, although not far from the shore.

How to eject

This type of casting is somewhat more difficult, but it is just as unpredictable as the previous one. To do this, you need to lower the bait just below half the length of the rod and take it by the hook. Moreover, take it so that in the process of casting you do not catch on to it, otherwise the consequences will be dire. The line is stretched, causing the rod tip to bend. The moment the bait is released, it will fly in the right direction, although not far. This casting option is suitable for any hard-to-reach places, although casting accuracy is a big question. In any case, you need to be prepared for the fact that the bait will remain in the pond, as if with or without fish.

The difficulty of casting lies in the fact that you need to pull the lure with one hand, pulling the line, and with the other hand, hold the rod and fix the line. Without certain skills, such casts are quite difficult to perform.

How to cast a long distance spinning rod

If the reservoir is large, then long casts will definitely be needed, although this requires preparation. It is necessary not only to master the long-distance casting technique, but also to be able to choose the right tackle. In addition, you must always remember that the heavier the bait, the further you will be able to throw it. Long-distance casting can be hindered either by a headwind or by a strong crosswind, which does not allow casting the bait to the right place. In this regard, one should dwell in more detail on the factors that can significantly affect long-distance casting.

Rod length

It has a direct impact on the value of long distance casting. The longer the rod, the further the bait will fly. If you want to throw the bait far away, then it is better to opt for blanks with a length of at least 3 meters.

Coil size

The size of the coil also determines how far you can throw the rig. The larger the spool, the more line will fit on the drum. If the length of the fishing line is sufficient, then the bait can be thrown far from the shore without any problems. Moreover, they take into account the fact that the bait is weighty, and it is necessary to reel on a reel, not a thin line at all.

Correct line winding

The line should leave the spool without much resistance. Only in this way will she fly far. Moreover, it is very important that the initial moment of the cast does not have any resistance. This is achieved by proper winding. The line is wound around the spool so that there is a space of a couple of millimeters. If fishing is carried out using a large reel, then first a monofilament line is wound on it, and then a braided line. In this case, the main load will be held by the cord, and the monofilament line will simply serve as an element for filling the reel.

Lead rings

The most important thing is to set the passage rings correctly and on one line. If the rings do not stand exactly, one relative to the other, then a frictional force will act, which will not allow the tackle to be thrown far. In addition, the rings must be checked for quality: they must be smooth, without burrs.

The most important thing is performance, on which the range of the bait will depend. To do this, you need a powerful, sharp throw, without stopping at the back point. The rod is retracted behind the back and at the same moment, as soon as it takes the starting position, with a sharp forward movement, the lure is sent to the set point. In this case, the energy of the curved rod is used: the sharper the throw, the more energy the rod can store and the further the bait will fly.

The long-distance casting technique also involves working with the body to give the bait a powerful initial impulse. Before the start of the throw, when the rod is retracted behind the back, at the same moment it is necessary to turn the body in the right direction. At the moment of the throw itself, together with the forward movement of the rod, the body is simultaneously turned to the starting point with its forward feed.

In addition to working with the body, the legs should be included in the work: in the process of throwing, it is necessary to move the leg forward. A similar approach in the execution of the throw will allow you to send the bait to the maximum distance from the coast.

When the finger has released the line and the lure has flown, you should check that the rod and line are in line. In this position, the line will practically not experience friction in the guides.

It is very important to be able to feel your tackle. Both the accuracy and the casting distance depend on this.

How to make an accurate spinning casting

The casting technique takes a lot of practice. Moreover, casts should be purposeful, in terms of the accuracy of bait delivery. It is better to train daily, and not necessarily on a pond. Precision casting is a technique of craftsmen who are able to deliver the bait to any point where there is a site pure water not overgrown with algae.

This technique is only feasible if vertical casting is used. It is this technique that allows the bait to be delivered with amazing precision. This technique has already been mentioned in this article, so it makes no sense to repeat it. The main thing is that everything is chosen correctly, including the tackle with the bait. A lure of low weight, for example, an ultralight one, will not fly far, and an ultralight rod is also required. Plus, you need a thin line with light, not big size coil.

Long distance casting technique still requires more powerful and stiffer gear, with “ensuing consequences” ranging from heavy bait to a powerful reel with strong line.

When making long and accurate casts, it should be remembered that the farther the distance, the more difficult it is to send the bait to the given point. As practice shows, everyday training does not pass without leaving a trace and the technique of long and accurate casting is absolutely real to master.

The main mistakes when casting a spinning rod

Casting errors are quite common. This is especially true for beginners who are just starting to practice spinning fishing. In this regard, it makes sense to analyze some of the frequently encountered errors. This is necessary in order to know why the lure does not fly far or why it is not possible to make an accurate cast. At first glance, casting a spinning tackle is a very simple operation that is available to everyone. But this is only at first glance. In fact, everything is somewhat more complicated if you want the fishing to be effective. So, the most common errors:

  1. Closed forestry... This is a common mistake even for experienced spinners, especially in dynamic fishing conditions when fast casts are required. Such a mistake is fraught with consequences: usually the bait flies away, breaking the line.
  2. Incorrect return of the line guide bar... Once the bait has reached its target, the bow must be returned to its starting position by hand. When the coil starts to spin, it closes automatically. Unfortunately, this leads to rapid coil wear, which is undesirable.
  3. Lack of control over the position of the rod during casting... Some beginners return the rod to an upright position when casting. Unfortunately, both casting distance and accuracy suffer from this. During the throwing process, the rod must be directed to the casting point until the bait reaches the target.
  4. The bait attachment point clings to the winding ring... When fishing predatory fish, especially for pikes, a metal leash is used, which is attached with a fastener (carabiner). This often happens when the bait is reeled up so that the attachment point clings to the first (at the tip) winding ring. This error will also not remain without consequences: premature wear of the ring or breakage of the bait is possible. In this regard, it is advisable to always control the process of winding the line before casting.
  5. The moment you release the line... It is very important that the line is released on time. The accuracy of the cast depends on this, as well as the amount of line that is unwound from the reel. If the line is released ahead of time, the bait will fly in a large arc, after which more line will reel, which can cause a serious hook. In addition, the stretched line is more difficult to lay for the line operator. In this case, the line may overlap directly on the spool.
  6. The spinning rod is not held correctly in the hands... Many inexperienced anglers make such a mistake, which contributes to many difficulties in the process of fishing. Here, the main thing is to correctly control the process of fixing the fishing line. Therefore, the foot of the coil should be between the middle and ring fingers. The thumb, in this case, is intended to fix the line and release it during the casting process. The thumb should always be located on the rod so that at any time you can slow down the process of the lure's flight.
  7. Incorrect casting technique... If everything is done correctly, then the bait can always be thrown far and accurately. Unfortunately, many novice spinning players are not very responsible for this process. When driving the rod behind the back, they make an unnecessary pause. In addition, they pull the spinning rod too far, or tilt it too low. The casting technique looks something like this (repetition is the mother of the doctrine): at an angle of 45 degrees, the spinning rod is directed to a certain point, after which it is retracted back at an angle of 45 degrees and, without making any pauses, the bait immediately with a biting movement forward goes flying. This process involves both arms, torso and legs. This is the only way to throw the bait far and accurately. If all movements are done correctly, then no extra effort will be needed.

Lack of an inertial coil. The line is wound by rotating the drum on the axis, and unwound in reverse order... When casting the line from the drum, the castable rig unwinds, it spins the drum, which continues to spin by inertia, even when the bait is delivered to the target. This is the main drawback. If the reel is not slowed down, then the line itself will come off the drum, since the latter will spin by inertia. This leads to line tangling and beards.

The advantage of the spinning reel. The spool can rotate in any direction, but only the line comes off the stationary spool when casting the rig. This is achieved due to a more complex design and a different principle of operation. The spool axis is parallel to the spinning blank axis. The plane along which the line is wound on the spool is perpendicular to the axis of the rod.

Winding occurs due to the rotation around the spool of a special roller of the line laying machine. It is driven through a bevel gear from the reel handle. The spool itself can rotate freely in both directions, as it is on the stem. But when the reel is working, it rotates only in one direction, when the line is pulled together under force, when the line guide is stationary.

Spinning reels have a number of advantages over other types:

  • high casting distance;
  • no dumping of loops, the formation of beards (with proper winding);
  • high gear ratio, allowing you to wind the line on the spool at a higher speed;
  • availability of spare spools, their quick change;
  • change of the handle for the right or left hand;
  • adjustable brake (friction clutch);
  • uniform winding of the line on the spool;
  • smooth running;

Flaws:

  • with improper winding, there is a high probability of the loops being dropped;
  • complex design, requires constant maintenance, cleaning the mechanism, lubricating the bearings;
  • there is a limitation on tractive effort, the friction brake does not have unlimited pressure force;

What to look for when choosing a coil

The choice is always difficult. Each manufacturer has many lines with different dimensions. Not only a beginner, but also an experienced spinning player will not be able to immediately understand the wide range of reels, their characteristics, in order to accept the right decision about buying the right model.

Number of bearings

One of the main characteristics of the coil, which is paid attention to. The quantity can reach up to 13 pieces. They serve for the smoothness and softness of the operation of all units and mechanisms of the reel. Some little-known manufacturers mislead buyers by pointing out a large number of bearings, which in reality may be half as many.

Instead of bearings, there are plastic bushings, which have a lower resource and reliability. For reliable, soft operation, 4-6 bearings in the structure are enough. All others - do not carry additional useful properties, but significantly increase the cost of the finished product. Bearings must be periodically cleaned and lubricated for premature wear and failure.

It is recommended to select a reel that has a metal bearing in the line guide roller. This element is exposed to constant stress, pollution. If the roller does not function, the line or braided line will be subject to high friction, and the line will soon easily cut a groove in the roller.

The ratio between the diameter of the line and its amount

Each spool shows the capacity, that is, how many meters of line of a certain diameter the spool can hold. It is necessary to select the reel for the used line diameter so that it can hold at least 100 - 150 meters. There is no general classification of coils by dimension. But most anglers are accustomed to looking at the system from Shimano, where reels are classified in sizes 1000, 2000, 2500, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000.

Having similar dimensions of the coils of other manufacturers, the capacity of their spools may not coincide with the capacity of Shimanovs. The 0.3 / 150 designations indicate that 150 meters with a diameter of 0.3 mm can be wound on the spool.

Brake clutch

Spinning reels can have two types of friction brakes: front and rear. It is necessary to prevent the spool from rotating when winding under load, as well as to deflect the line when the fish jerks violently. This eliminates line breakage if its breaking load is significantly less than the efforts during fishing.

The front friction brake is located on the spool, the rear at the end of the spool. For spinning fishing, a front drag is preferred. It is simpler, more convenient, has greater smoothness and accuracy of tuning.

Rear drag reels are used for feeder or carp fishing, when it is impossible to adjust the drag immediately and exactly to the expected size of the fish. With this type of fishing, a fisherman does not hold the rod directly in his hands until the moment he bites. When fishing for large carp, they use reels with a rear friction clutch and a baytruner, which resets all clutch settings at the first sharp jerk of the fish in order to avoid breaking the rig.

Long casting system

Casting distance is an important component for the spinning player. The further you can throw the bait, the more area you can fish. There are several methods to increase the casting distance of the reel. Some manufacturers use a special spool shape, tapered, when the spool is extended towards the base of the spool. Farther turns of the line have a larger winding diameter than at the edge of the spool. This allows them to come off without additional friction on the spool collar. These spools are commonly used when fishing for carp.

Correct winding of the line on the spool can increase the casting distance, when the turns cross, and do not fit next to each other, drowning honey with neighboring turns. This stacking system is achieved with an endless screw (worm gear). However, it should be noted that the Daiva company refused to use an endless screw even in top models. But this did not prevent it from achieving perfectly correct winding.

The casting distance can be increased by using reels with larger spools and shallow winding depths. This allows the line to come off more freely without additional friction against the spool collar with the lower turns.

Spare spool

A nice bonus that not every manufacturer gives for a specific model. A spare spool is necessary when fishing requires changing the rig to a more sensitive one or, conversely, with a higher breaking load... It is much cheaper than buying a completely new spinning rod and reel kit.

Pulling force

An important component that few people pay attention to. It is indicated in kilograms. This is the maximum force that the reel can handle when playing fish without the aid of a rod, that is, it works like a winch. For fishing with heavy, stubborn lures or large fish, it is recommended to use reels with a pulling force of at least 5 kg. Otherwise, the reel can be simply "killed" by frequent idle casts in just a few seasons.

Gear ratio

For spinning fishing does not have of great importance, since it is not the speed of winding the line on the reel that is important, but the correct play of the bait. This indicator is important when fishing for a match, feeder, carp rod, where the speed of reeling and new casting is very important to save time.

Spool material

They can be made both from light alloys and from plastic, graphite. Plastic spools are used only if monofilament line is used. The braided cord will cut through it. Light alloy spools are preferred for spinning fishing. To protect the spool from wear, its collar should be coated with titanium nitrite.

Coil weight

This parameter, as a rule, is used by already experienced spinningists, or if necessary. Less weight will reduce the strain on your arms. It is more pleasant to fish with light tackle, you don't feel tired after a hard fishing day. Less weight gives the spinning tackle more balance.

Open-spool, closed-spool and semi-closed spools

Open spool reels are the most common on the market. The line spool is not covered. They are convenient and easy to use, and are lighter in weight. They allow you to cast the lightest baits, the lines come off the spool in turns through the collar. The winding of the line onto the spool is carried out through the roller after the bow of the line guide is closed. The open spool allows for long distance casting of the rig. The disadvantage of reels with an open spool is the possibility of entanglement of the line when leaving the spool and the formation of loops, beards.

Closed bobbin reels have a protective cap. This avoids confusion. There is no need to open and close the bail of the forestry machine. However, these reels have a shorter casting range than open spool reels. For reels with a closed spool, spinning rods with a saddle-shaped reel seat are required.

Reels with a semi-closed spool are designed in which the line is wound around the spool by means of a winding cup with a wavy edge. This is a kind of simplified and lightweight version of a closed coil.

How to choose a reel for spinning

When choosing a specific coil, it is necessary to determine the tasks that it should solve. It is necessary to take into account its compliance with the rod in terms of size and weight. If an ultralight tackle, then the reel should be of the smallest weight with a dimension of 1000.2000 can already be a lot, all the more it is not worth putting a 4000 reel on an ultralight. trophy pike 1000 coil will be "small".

It would be correct to collect the tackle in the store (spinning reel). The tackle should, as they say, "lie in the hand." The ideal balance of the tackle is achieved when the center of gravity is at the point where the hand rests.

It is necessary to spin the coil to detect backlash. The coil should run smoothly.

Choosing a line for a reel

The choice of fishing line depends on the species composition of the fish that you plan to catch, as well as on the type of bait. If you plan to fish with oscillating or spinning lures, you can use a monofilament line with a diameter of 0.16 to 0.25 mm. For fishing with jerk lures, spaced rigs, it is recommended to use a braided line.

Reel installation on spinning

Installation is not difficult. The reel seat has a groove for the reel foot and a clamping screw nut. The compression nut can be combined with top handles. It must be tightened tightly so that there are no backlashes.

How to cast a spinning rod with a spinning reel

For casting, you need to wind the rig to the tip of the tip. The bow of the spool should be in the upper position. Clamping the fishing line to the spinning rod with your index finger, open the reel seat down. A spinning rod can be cast from behind both by a smooth swing and by a sharp movement behind the back in the direction of the casting point.

At the moment when the blank passes in the direction of casting, release the fishing line clamped with a finger, which allows the bait to start flying. After the bait has lowered the water, close the bail of the tree organizer. It is recommended to close the bow by hand, not by turning the handle, as this will prolong the life of the coil.

When choosing the first coil, you should not purchase expensive models. The coil must be checked for smooth running and operation of all units, absence of backlash. Do not chase the number of bearings, 4-6 bearings are enough. It would be more correct to choose a reel with a high tractive effort so that there is a margin of safety, since not everyone pulls the trophy specimens with a rod when biting, but pulls the fish like a winch.

It is better to choose a reel from manufacturers with a well-known name than to purchase unknown Chinese brands. Pay attention to the operation of the line guide roller. There should be a bearing, not a bushing. To choose better reel with a front drag.

Of course, every self-respecting angler should know how to use a spinning reel installed on his rod, what loads it is designed for, what can be expected from it in a given situation and how it needs to be tuned for effective work.

Due to their versatility, they are in high demand among different categories of fishermen, so manufacturers produce different models that can more fully satisfy their needs. Let's consider the most important nuances that need to be taken into account when operating a bezinertsionki.

Its structure and important parameters

In order to better understand how to use a fishing reel, it is useful to know what it consists of, its structure and the main differences from other types of reels. You need to know that they are of three main types:

  1. (the simplest and most reliable mechanism).
  2. This is a more complex mechanism, which has a lot in common with inertial coils, but stands alone.

At the same time, it is important to learn that if you know very well, for example, how to use a baitcasting reel, or a standard inertia reel, this does not mean that you will work as well as a spinning reel.

Each inertialess device consists of the following main parts:

  1. Frame, made in one piece with the fastening foot. It is usually made from aluminum alloys or high quality plastic. It contains the elements of the main mechanism.
  2. Rotor with bail and automatic folding mechanism. The main function is to wind the line on the spool.
  3. Spool where the volume of the line is located. They are also made from aluminum alloys or high-quality plastic that is resistant to abrasion.
  4. Rotating handle. With its help, the fisherman sets in motion the entire mechanism of the reel. Thanks to her, this type of coils is often called "meat grinders" among the people. They really have a distant external similarity.

In addition, we can separately highlight friction brake, used to regulate the load sufficient to rotate the rotor when striking large fish or when hooking. The adjusting screw of this mechanism on the spinning reel can be located at the front - at the end of the spool, or at the back.

Expert opinion

Knipovich Nikolay Mikhailovich

Attention! You need to be very careful when initially winding the line (braided line) onto the spinning reel spool. The line should lie evenly, without overlaps and mixing of layers, which is often the case when it is over-tensioned. This will allow for better casts and lures.

The main difference between this type of coil and inertial coils is that:

  1. Main axis, on which the drum is fixed, in working condition is located parallel to the axis of the rod. For inertial coils and multipliers - perpendicular.
  2. When casting the bait the line comes off freely from the end of the fixed spool. There is no drum rotation, which means that there is no inertia force that usually occurs during rotation.

In addition to understanding the device and the principle of operation of the coil, it is important to know its basic quality parameters, by which the consumer characteristics of each model are assessed. They must be taken into account both when purchasing it in a store, and directly, when equipping and fishing with it. These parameters include the following:

  1. mechanism. This parameter indicates the number of revolutions of the rotor at one full turn of the handle. It is applied in the form of a ratio of certain numbers to the body, for example: 4.6: 1, 5.3: 1.
  2. Number of bearings involved in the mechanism. The more of them, the more smoothly and stably the coil works.
  3. Spool capacity. This characteristic is also indicated on the body and shows the amount of line of a certain section for which it is designed. For example, the number 1500 indicates that this reel will place 100 m of 1.5 mm line on its spool.
  4. The material the spool is made of. In the more expensive, professional models, these tend to be the more durable and practical aluminum alloys.
  5. Coil dimensions and weight.

It is important to know that by the number indicating the capacity of the spool you can compare the power of different mechanisms... So, the reel with the designation 3500 is more powerful than the reel with the designation 3000, which means that it is designed for heavier tackle and catching stronger fish.

When fishing with a spinning rod, this characteristic determines which rod it needs to be placed on for greater efficiency and harmony of tackle, light or heavier, and how to use a spinning reel.

Advantages and disadvantages of inertialess models

This type of fishing reel is considered to be the most common and easiest to use, but like almost every mechanical design, it has its own strengths and weaknesses. Their strengths include the following:

  1. Versatility. With the right selection of such a reel, you can effectively fish with both the lightest and rather heavy baits.
  2. Opportunity perform slow and fast wiring, quickly changing, if necessary, the pace.
  3. High sensitivity. A correctly tuned coil will allow you to react in time to any bite.
  4. The presence of an adjustable friction brake. In some cases, this allows you to keep the tackle from clipping.

The negative properties of such a mechanism include the following:

  1. Enough complex construction, requiring a careful attitude.
  2. Perceptible line wear due to its intense friction against the sides of the spool during casts.
  3. Significant price some models.

It should be noted that in recent years the quality and functionality of these coils has grown significantly, especially in the expensive segment.

Basic principles of using a coil

Before you start actively using your coil, you need to take the following three steps:

  1. Install it on the rod. It is important that after installation it is held as securely and tightly as possible, without backlash.
  2. It is important that the top layer of the coiled line does not reach the upper edge of the spool flank 1.5-2 mm, this will provide a more efficient, without delay, its coming off during casts.
  3. Adjust the friction brake mechanism. It should work before the line breaks.

After that, it can be used, making long and accurate casts, high-quality wiring of lures and reliable retention of hooked trophies on the hook.

After mastering the theoretical knowledge of how to use a reel for this type of spinning, you need to move on to practice as soon as possible. Special importance first initial stage you need to give the technique of correct casting of lures. The rest of the elements of working with it (posting technique, sweeping, fish hatching) are learned later.

Zoologist, hydrobiologist. I am fond of fishing at a professional level.

Attention! With any cast, you need to make sure that there are no strangers near you, whom you can harm with sharp hooks or fishing line. It is also very important to avoid when throwing a toe on the surrounding trees, bushes, etc.

Casting the bait using reels of this type can be done in the following ways:

  1. Over the head(vertically). This is the most amplitude, requiring a lot of free space above the head, method.
  2. Horizontally, from the comfortable side.
  3. Pumping(pendulum).

Some anglers are still learning the casting method according to the principle catapult, with a preliminary bend of the rod, but it is quite difficult and not in demand.

The most popular is the vertical cast... He is the most long-range and the most accurate, provided that the angler has mastered the technique well enough. The algorithm for its execution is as follows:

  1. By turning the handle of the reel, you need to lower the lure 0.7 - 1.2 m from the tip of the rod.
  2. Fold back the bow of the line guide and immediately fix the line with your index finger, pressing it to the rod in a convenient place next to the handle.
  3. Next, we carefully wind the rod behind the back.
  4. We throw the bait forward while simultaneously releasing the fishing line from fixation with a finger.

At the final stage of casting, while the lure is flying towards the target, the tip of the rod should be in the desired direction, preferably in line with the line. After splashing down the bait, you need to turn the reel handle to automatically return the line device to the working position.

Horizontal (side) casting it is done in almost the same way, but the rod retraction behind the back is carried out not in the vertical, but in the horizontal plane. This is necessary if, for example, tree branches are located on top, and there is free space on the side for the necessary manipulations.

Pendulum cast often needed when fishing from a steep bank or from a boat. It is done as follows:

  1. We release the lure 1 - 1.4 m from the tip of the rod, depending on its total length, the availability of free space and the required casting distance.
  2. Fold back the line and fix the line with your finger.
  3. We swing the bait with a fishing rod and cast it, releasing the fixed line in the upper part of its amplitude.

At the initial stage, the bait with such a cast flies from the bottom up, which allows experienced anglers, if necessary, to throw minor obstacles in its path.

After casting the bait, by rotating the handle of the reel in a certain rhythm, it is guided. At the same time, to give it the desired game, the rod is manipulated.

When fishing with a spinning rod, the combination of the necessary wiring with different manipulations with the rod allows you to make very high-quality, efficient wiring of the lures.

Below we will watch a video about the methods of casting spinning lures:

A spinning reel deserves to be treated with respect. Even a very simple, budget model can, if properly handled, greatly expand your ability to catch different types fish, both near the shore and at long distances, both from the shore and from the boat.

Correct spinning rigging and tackle handling is a big contributor to the success of your spinning fishing. How to handle the tackle and make the right rig - below.

Spinning rod transportation rules

First of all, for the safety of your spinning rod, use a special tube. Most models of spinning rods consist of two sections, the length of which is more than a meter. The tube will reliably protect the spinning rod from the possibility of rod tip breakage, moreover, it is a very convenient way of transportation.

Make sure you buy a spinning tube with a reel, as this is much more convenient than a tube for carrying just a rod.

The process of winding the line on a reel

Winding the line onto the reel is carried out as follows:

  1. Place the reel on the spinning rod and pass the end of the line through all the rings, starting with the smallest one, and gradually going down to the reel itself.
  2. Fold out the bow of the line guide (in this state of the reel - the line can easily enter the reel or unwind from it.
  3. The spool has a special attachment for the end of the line (a stopper, usually in the form of a triangle), fix the line (or make a regular knot by wrapping the reel drum, but the first option is preferable.
  4. Then you can fold the line guide back to its original position and start winding the line onto the spool by turning the spool handle.

It is necessary to wind it almost to the edge of the spool, leaving 1-1.5 millimeters. This will allow the line to be easily thrown off during casting and at the same time will not allow the line to fly off the spool on its own, creating unnecessary loops and knots.

How to use a spinning reel

Before casting - press down on the line with your finger and tip the line guide

There is nothing complicated in handling a spinning reel with a spinning reel:

  1. Before casting, make sure the lure is firmly attached to the end of the line or to the swivel that connects the line and lure. It allows the line not to twist, thus, during the drive, the bait behaves more naturally.
  2. By lowering the line from the spool, or by winding the reel by rotating the handle, ensure that the bait is about 1-1.5 meters from the tip of the spinning rod.
  3. Now, use your index finger to press down on the line that runs from the spool to the first ring and swing out the bow of the line guide. Now the spool is in a free state, if you release your finger, the line will start to reel.
  4. Make a swing, not necessarily strong, just take the tip of the rod behind your back or to the side. Now briskly (not necessarily strongly for the first time) swing the rod forward, pointing with the tip where the bait needs to fly and at the very last moment release the finger that holds the line.
  5. The line will start to come off the spool, and the bait will fly to the place where you made the cast.
  6. Immediately after the bait lands in the water, fold the line guide to the standard position so that the line does not continue to come off the spool and a beard does not form.

You need to wind up the fishing line by rotating the reel, depending on the type of your wiring. If you want to fish along the bottom - wait for the bait to fall to the bottom, keeping the line in tension, after falling to the bottom - the line will sag a little, at this moment you need to start wiring.

If you want to fish from above, you need to start wiring immediately after the bait falls into the water and a quick reel.

When casting, be sure to keep track of where your bait is before the final swing, so as not to accidentally hook your companions fishing, for example in a boat, where there is not much room for swing.

Use a swivel

A swivel (anti-spinner) is a miniature device that will prevent your line from twisting from spinning spinners, devons, spinning lures and other spinning lures.

Also, the swivel often has a convenient fastener, thanks to which you can easily change the bait without unnecessary breaks in the line and the next tie.

Use a leash for protection against pike teeth

A spinning leash often acts as a stronger section of the line at the lure attachment. It is designed to prevent the sharp teeth of a predator from overbiting the line.

The leash should be made of durable material, stronger than the main line, and at the same time, it is desirable that it is less noticeable in the water.

In the case of catching asp and other predators that cannot boast of sharp teeth, you may not use a leash, especially if your main line is not very visible in the water. But when fishing toothy pike, pike perch and other hunters - it is extremely important to use a leash, otherwise sooner or later you will be sadly left without bait and fish.

Rigid leashes can ruin the play of light lures (for fishing with a wobbler, popper and other light lures, it is advisable to use special elastic leashes).

Spinning is one of the simplest gear at first glance. Equipping it is really not difficult at all. But the level of your prey while fishing will depend on your skills. The correct placement of lures and the correct selection of them greatly increase the chances of catching freshwater predators.

The structure (design) of the reel for spinning: body (1), reel seat leg (2), drive (3), rotor (4), friction brake (5), switch for reverse (6), rod to attach the spool (7 ), line layer: bow (8) and roller (9); gear wheel (10), cover (11).

The movement of the bobbin feeder is reciprocating. There are 2 types of such a mechanism:

  • with a screw drive;
  • with a gear-rocker.

The spool on the stem moves in the same way as the carriage. So the line fits evenly on the spool.

For spinning, it is better to use a BC with a screw spool feeder.

Screw feeder

Rotation from the main pair is transmitted to the carriage through the camshaft of the drive gear. Most BC models are equipped with endless screws. The cutting of such screws is cross, the groove pitch is different.

Due to the different pitch, the spool moves forward at one speed, backward at another.

This ensures high-quality laying of even very thin fishing line: its upper layer does not sink into the lower one, and the fishing line does not get tangled.

Profile types

There are 3 geometrical shapes of the bobbin profiles:

  • Cylinder.
  • Cone.
  • Inverted (reverse) cone.
  • Direct styling. This type of laying is the most popular, but it does not guarantee the absence of spontaneous descent of the line.
  • Conical. For long distance casts. There is a high likelihood of line tangling.
  • Reverse tapered. For short casting distances. The chance of line tangling is minimal.

There are 2 ways to attach the spool: rigid or with a button on the lock. The second method allows you to replace the spool.

The spool is usually made of a metal-polymer alloy.

Before securing the line, the spool is removed: unscrew the screw that is in front of the spool and press the button located on it (if the clutch is rear).

Correct spinning rigging and tackle handling is a big contributor to the success of your spinning fishing. How to handle the tackle and make the right rig - below.

The reel is the most important part of the spinning tackle, which gave the name to the fishing method itself. The essence of this method is to animate an artificial bait mounted at the end of the line.

To animate the lure, the angler performs the posting, for which he rotates the handle of the reel, reeling in the fishing line. Translated from English spinning means "rotation".

And so we will consider what coils are, we will select the best ones, we will analyze such questions as the device and methods of application and how to choose a coil for a beginner.

Consider the device of a spinning coil.

Can be made of metal, plastic or carbon fiber. There is a mechanism inside the body, and in the upper part there is a foot for attaching the reel to the rod.

Although the baitcasting reel device is much simpler than a spinning reel, this product is equipped with certain systems that ensure its reliable and balanced operation. Let's list the main basic units and systems.

A spinning reel with a spinning reel is ideal for casting long distances - up to 20 m. full set tackle should include:

  • line with a length of 100 m, capable of withstanding minimum loads 7-8 kg;
  • sinkers - 4 pcs, for line tension;
  • a special carabiner - a swivel, or a swivel, which keeps the line from twisting;
  • leash and hook.

The length of the overhang of the bait should reach the middle of the length of the rod. The swing is carried out by pulling the rod to the side. To prevent the range from affecting accuracy, you need to strictly control the position of the line - it must fit into the reel. After completing the swing, the position of the line must be fixed.

Until the feeder has sunk too deep, the line is reeled up, positioning the rod in such a way that a right angle is formed between them.

The direction and strength of the wind directly affects the flight range. It will be possible to increase the distance by more than 30 m in the position with your back to the direction of the wind.

How to choose a beginner?

HOW TO USE THE COIL

This section, I think, should start with the basic or mandatory requirements in general for a working coil, so that we can continue talking about the operation and repair of a spinning coil. And if the product is not capable of working normally in fishing mode, then it makes no sense to use such a reel.

So, what are the basic requirements for a functional spinning reel?

1. The movement of the coil should be light, without cracking or crunching.

2. The bow or bracket of the line guide should be fixed securely during the sharpest jerks that occur during casts. There should be no spontaneous dumping of the bow, which can lead to a line break.

If you fish very intensively, and also quite large, then not all the tackle, of course, can withstand. There are a few rules for keeping spinning reels.

Rule # 1. If you are going to buy a spinning reel, you should not choose too simple and cheap models.

As a rule, it is these products that are distinguished by the least strength. Naturally, it is much more difficult to maintain than an expensive reel made of very durable materials.

These very simple coils are made of silumin and cheap plastic and are most likely produced in China. Therefore, take this into account before choosing a spinning reel.

Not a single professional angler will leave his favorite bait in the reeds or in the branches of an overgrown tree. To release it from the hook, you need to try to unfold the rod in such a way that the cord goes to the reel line guide roller not directly, but through the rod rings.

Of course, it is better to play it safe and use cuts to free the bait. To conserve the coil, you can break the rig. if it gets tangled up too much.

Every professional knows that you need to deflate the fish with a rod, and not deflect the fish with a reel. Then the fish will not have the opportunity to dive into the reeds or huddle under the snag.

There she will certainly entangle the cord, and then it will be possible to say goodbye to both fish and spoon. At these moments, a very heavy load is placed on the coil, so you need to be as careful as possible to preserve it.

Rule # 4. If you happen to submerge the coil in water, you should not put it on the sand to dry. The wind sprinkles the coil with additional portions of sand, as a result of which its entire mechanism will be in it, which will not contribute to its long life.

Rule # 5. It is not necessary to close the line guide bracket by turning the reel handle. You need to open the bracket, make a cast, and then close the bracket with your hand.

Many people get pleasure from the light morning breeze in complete silence, away from the hustle and bustle and household worries. And with the new spinning reel, the pleasure is enhanced by the length of the line. Read the easy-to-use instructions. It contains the stages of preparing the coil for its operation in various conditions. Easy fish for you!

Stage one. Will tell you how easy it is to wind the line on the spool. How easy it is to remove the spool and carefully insert it into the spool

Unscrew the spool from the spool. Attach the fishing line to it. There are reels with a rear drag, in them press the button on the spool. In other models, unscrew the adjusting screw located on the spool in front of the spool.

Carefully open the tree stacker without using force. Insert the bobbin onto the axle. Rotate slowly. This can be done in the direction that is convenient for you. Wait for the bobbin lock to click. Then, when you close the line, you simply reel in the line. Make sure that the line is always in tension, this will allow you to wind it smoother.

Winding up to the edge, having finished winding, a couple of millimeters before the end of the edge at the spool. Try different line diameters. You just need to have different spools for your spool, change it as needed. Spools are sold in different capacities.

Stage two. We fix the fishing line. Examining the use of anti-reverse properties.

The creators of the reel have come up with a convenient mechanism so that the line does not rotate in the other direction when winding. You just turn on the switch that is located in your coil at the back. Or you will find this switch at the bottom of the case.

Stage three. Brake. We adjust the brake part of the coil.

The line is strong, but when fishing for large fish, it can break. You just need to use the brake when jerking and drag the fish.

Adjust it before you start fishing. The line must be passed through the tree.

Thread it carefully into the rings on the fishing rod. Secure the line.

Turn on anti-reverse. Be sure to check it before fishing.

Attach the rod at a small angle, about 45 degrees. Set the desired threshold with the adjustment screw.

Check how the clutch will work. When the limit is reached, turn the brake adjuster to the left, approximately one quarter of a full turn.

Adjust this mechanism carefully. Do everything gently and effortlessly. Excessive jerking can cause rod or reel breakage. This type of breakdown is not included in the warranty service.

Stage four. Short review first actions when casting.

We take a spinning rod where the reel is fixed. You have already adjusted the brake mechanism in the third step. Checked anti-reverse. You can take in any hand. Use your finger to press the line against the handle, two centimeters from the tree manager. Next, you need to open the bridging arch.

Before casting, look around. There should be no obstacles along the entire flight path necessary for a good line casting. Everything should be free for not only the flight of the line, but also the subsequent posting of the bait.

Before casting - press down on the line with your finger and tip the line guide

If you want to fish from above, you need to start wiring immediately after the bait falls into the water and a quick reel.

First of all, it is necessary to decide under what conditions, what kind of fish and what baits are supposed to be caught, and also to choose an acceptable price range of reels.

After these issues have been resolved, there are several main aspects that need to be addressed.

The baitcasting reels are baitcasting reels created in the 20th century. Unlike an inertial reel for spinning, baitcasting reels have complex axial brake functions, it is possible to disable the spool and much more.

All functions and areas of application, main advantages, disadvantages, how to choose a baitcasting reel for spinning and how to use it will be described below.

The life of a fisherman would be much more complicated if in addition to a high-quality rod there were no good quality multiplier reel (MK) in his arsenal.

This device is a modernized version of the inertial reel - the good old drum version, rotating due to inertia and so familiar to seasoned fishermen. In this article, we will discuss what a baitcasting reel is and touch on the most important aspects this topic.

As mentioned above, a multiplier coil is a variation of an inertial coil. However, the advantages of a baitcasting reel over its predecessor lie in the dramatically increased performance indicators, as well as in the possibility of its use in a wide variety of types of spinning fishing.

Now let's look at what a baitcasting reel is for. The main purpose of the MK is to catch trophy specimens using heavy feeders.

If your priority is hunting for big fish, work with heavy lures, if you want to confidently fight with fish that can resist being on the hook, then you just need to purchase baitcasting reels for spinning.

Now we will describe in a nutshell how a multiplier spinning reel works. The principle of operation of a baitcasting reel is quite simple. The body of the product contains a rotating spool that can hold 40-300 meters of line. Under the tension of the line, when the spool is thrown, it rotates freely, freeing as much of the forest as necessary.

By rotating the MK handle, the fisherman activates the gear transmission, which rotates the spool. The simultaneous operation of the worm gear of the line laying machine ensures an even and uniform laying of the line across the entire width of the spool.

Now about how to use a baitcasting reel so that it lasts a long time. First, let's find out how to set up the baitcasting reel so as to achieve the longest casting distance, to avoid dashes and beards. The centrifugal brake mechanism has special weights that regulate the spool speed. They are removable and their number can be adjusted.

The brake is needed in order to dampen the rotation of the spool, provided that it has accelerated strongly. Under the influence of centrifugal force, the weights diverge and press against the wall, creating friction. That is why the correct setting of the baitcasting reel excludes the removal of all weights, since there will be no braking effect when casting.

Since using a baitcasting reel for spinning effectively and comfortably will not work without a properly configured mechanical brake, the next step is to adjust it. After the reel is installed on the rod, and the bait is picked up and secured, we tighten the brake regulator.

The force on the spool must be created until the weight stops dropping to the ground when the rod is raised. Then just lightly swing the fishing rod - if the mechanical brake is adjusted correctly, the bait will drop by about 30-40 centimeters.

In order to understand how to choose a baitcasting reel for spinning, you need to know what to look for when buying a product. First of all, think about what material your MC should be made of.

Of course, a product in a metal case will better withstand all the harsh conditions of fishing, but if you use the tackle with care, it can also last a long time in a plastic case.

Before choosing a baitcasting reel for a spinning rod, answer the question with which hand you will cast. If your working hand is right, then buy a left-handed MK.

Otherwise, stop choosing a baitcasting reel for spinning on the right-hand version. The last option is a classic, in which case the fisherman throws the bait with his left hand, and rotates the MK with his right.

Another good advice on how to choose a baitcasting reel is to pay attention to the gear ratio and line diameter. The first parameter allows you to choose either traction or high-speed gear.

The choice of a baitcasting reel is certainly important, but it is also important that a good product lasts a long time. To do this, you need to provide competent maintenance of the baitcasting reel. Periodically, after the end of the season, disassemble the tackle, clean it of the old grease and add a new one. At the first extraneous sounds and warning signs, diagnose and repair.

Baitcasting reels for spinning. The fact that a baitcasting reel has certain advantages over a spinning reel attracts many anglers.

If you fish very intensively, and also quite large, then not all the tackle, of course, can withstand. There are a few rules to keep in mind when spinning reels.

Rule # 2. What to do with the hook.

Not a single professional angler will leave his favorite bait in the reeds or in the branches of an overgrown tree. To release it from the hook, you need to try to unfold the rod in such a way that the cord goes to the reel line guide roller not directly, but through the rod rings.

The rod should be turned at a 90 degree angle to the line. Thus, we are trying to reduce the load on the coil mechanism.

Of course, it is better to play it safe and use cuts to free the bait. To conserve the coil, you can break the rig if it gets tangled too much.

Rule # 3. How to play fish correctly.

At these moments, a very heavy load is placed on the coil, so you need to be as careful as possible to save it.

Spinning reel working principle

The spool does not rotate during casting, wiring and fishing. Instead, it moves in a reciprocating manner, and the line guide rotates around it, ensuring an even line winding.

Let's consider the moment of casting in more detail. The bait is thrown, the line passes through the side of the spool, excluding its excessive discharge, the line layer is moved to the side so as not to interfere with the free descent of the line. When the line guide handle is turned, the line is on the roller, which winds it around the spool.

Advantages and disadvantages

In spite of high quality and the effectiveness of these coils is not used by all due to high prices and narrow scope. But anglers who know how to use a baitcasting reel have no problem with line tangling due to the broad functionality and quality of the baitcasting reel.

The main advantages are worth noting:

  • high carrying capacity - the multiplier resembles a winch and is able to withstand loads of half a centner;
  • the ability to fish for both light and heavy lures - due to the location of the rings, the bite will be sensitive;
  • multipliers for trolling have a special counter of the unwound line;
  • the multiplier is as compact as possible for its power.

As disadvantages:

  • in the first place will be the price - in addition to purchasing the multiplier, the fisherman will need a special rod for him with the upper arrangement of the rings;
  • constant adjustment and care, special care when transferring;
  • fishing at low temperatures is problematic;
  • poor resistance to dirt, which can lead to malfunction of the mechanism.

The multiplier spinning reel is popular at sea for long casts. For beginners who have used an inertia reel, fishing with a baitcasting reel can be difficult due to the unusual location of the multiplier.

The form of multipliers

On the shore, a mechanical brake is set using bait. Attach the bait to the leash, place it parallel to the ground and lower it, when it touches the spool it should make one revolution or less - in this case, the brake is set properly.

If the revolutions are too high, or vice versa, the spool makes less than half a turn, you need to either loosen or tighten the brake until you get the desired result.

There are some nuances in setting up magnetic, centrifugal brakes.

First of all, you need to fasten the cord to the spool:

  • tie the cord to the nearest holes on the spool (do not pass the line into the holes that are far from the spool);
  • Tie the knot tightly onto the spool - it is necessary to wind the fishing line around the spool several times, we put the end of the cord or fishing line into the resulting loop.

Now let's take a look at how to wind the cord around a baitcasting reel:

  1. After attaching the multiplier to the rod, pass the line or line through the rings.
  2. Tighten the brakes and clutch.
  3. Using your fingers or cloth (to prevent damage to the skin), tighten the cord.
  4. Accompany the tension with a force to tightly stack the turns to each other.

When using the cord, breaking is shaken - this will avoid unpleasant moments with playing trophy fish. If you do not use braking, the cord will twist.

It is also worth paying close attention to the material of the line manager - to use the cord, a ceramic insert must be present, if it is not there, using the cord will be stupid, the cord will make cuts in the metal line manager.

The baitcasting reel for spinning is conventionally divided into "soap dishes", "barrels" and especially powerful - for sea fishing. Such specific names of the product were given due to the appearance of their case, one of which has the shape of a cylinder and received the corresponding name - “barrel”.

The second type of MK has a slightly flattened shape and is vaguely similar in shape to a “soap dish”. Of course, the appearance of the coils is not the main difference.

This is a baitcasting reel for ordinary spinning, which, nevertheless, has gained wide acceptance and application among fishermen. And this happened due to its ease of use and high reliability. These are powerful cartoon spinning reels with relatively impressive dimensions. Ideal for thick lines and heavy and large lures.

Such a fishing baitcasting reel can be used in fishing without damaging its mechanism, provided that heavy jig heads or large jigs, wobblers are used. Despite the modernization, the product has retained one of the main advantages of the inertial “predecessor” - simplicity of design and, accordingly, reliability.

This option is more suitable for anglers who prefer to use light series baits for long distance casting. Light metal alloy is the cornerstone of manufacturing of mechanism parts.

This in turn makes it light in weight and easy to cast. The line or line is bent in the product at a very small angle, which in turn makes it easy to deflect it during casting.

Although the "soap box" is a baitcasting reel for light lures, larger baits can be used on an irregular basis in fishing. Perhaps this is due to the margin of safety and reliability that are put into it during manufacture.

Also fishermen know that there is a baitcasting reel right or left. Moreover, the multiplier reel for the left hand will not differ from the right-hand analog in anything, except for the location of the handle.

All features and functionality will be the same. And in this matter it does not matter at all whether you are left-handed or right-handed.

Whichever multiplier you acquire, you will easily get used to it.

Another feature that some “cartoons” have is the line meter. With its help, fishing with a wobbler is greatly simplified, since it becomes possible to better control the diving of the bait to the desired depth. The baitcasting reel with a counter allows you to easily find out the distance to the bait and navigate it at the desired catching depth.

Brake adjustment

The rotor mechanism includes a main pair and a spool feeding device. The rotor has a wheel that drives a gear on the main shaft. It starts to rotate due to the rotation of the handle. It is mounted in a 4-edged hole located on the shaft. The main pair is a gearbox, it has a specific gear ratio.

The speed at which the rotor spins is dependent on the gear ratio of the drive and how fast the handle is turning. According to the gear ratio, spinning rods are classified as follows:

  • Power (the coil makes one turn, and the rotor during this time from 3.2 to 4.3 turns) for trolling, adapted for slow wiring.
  • Universal (from 4.5 to 6.1 turns). Any pace of posting.
  • High-speed (from 6.2 to 7.2) for twitching, jigging.

The gear ratio informs how many revolutions the rotor produces during one revolution of the coil. A gear ratio of 5: 1 means that when the coil is turned once, there are 5 rotor turns.

The rewinding speed shows how much line is wrapped around the spool with a single turn of the handle. This indicator depends on the diameter of the spool and on the gear ratio. For example, gear ratio 5: 1, the spool is 0.4 cm in diameter. The winding speed: 3.14 multiplied by 5 and 40, we get 628. For a single turn of the reel handle, 628 millimeters of line is wound on the spool.

This calculation is approximate due to the approximate diameter: the amount of line in 1 turn depends on the degree of filling the spool.

Another name for this device is anti-reverse. When it is on, the rotor and handle cannot reverse rotation. Previously, it was believed that anti-reverse is needed only for transporting a spinning rod: the nozzle catches on the ring, and the reel stalls. It was not considered necessary to include a stopper in the process of fishing.

A coil such as Orion even emitted special signals, announcing that anti-reverse was working. Only after a while they appreciated the convenience of fishing with the included stopper. Sharply cutting, left hand may miss the handle, but nevertheless the jog will be performed: the friction brake will apply.

First, a backstop was developed with a stepped principle of operation: the lever rested against the ratchet teeth, moving in the opposite direction. But this anti-reverse was not instantaneous. In addition, a strong jerk led to powerful blow on the stopper ratchet, which quickly disabled it.

When the load on the line is at its maximum (at the time of pulling the prey, a strong jerk), the brake is used.

Its adjustment can be either front or rear. The brake is a thumbscrew located on the spool, or a handle. The braking system can be operated using flag or slide switches.

To adjust the friction, the fishing line is threaded into the rings of the spinning rod, passing through the line stacker. We fix its end and turn on the backstop.

The rod installation angle is 45 degrees. The brake activation threshold is set with the adjusting screw. When the limit is reached, the regulator is turned 1/4 of a turn in the opposite direction.

Be careful: using too much force, adjusting the drag, reel or spinning rod can break.

Spinning casting technique

There are some basic rules. Observing them will help a novice spinner avoid initial mistakes and cast correctly, far and accurately.

Bait overhang

Casting with a baitcasting reel differs from the usual cast from an inertial reel, sharp casts with short strokes cannot be performed, you need to smoothly accelerate and apply more strength... To begin with, it is better to cast from the side, it will be more difficult to cast overhead.

Fishing from a boat on marine baitcasting reels for trolling is very productive. In sea fishing, heavy baits, wobblers are used. On marine trolling multipliers, a counter is installed to measure the unwound line - this is done in order to accurately set the bait to the depth.

The distance of the distance depends on the skills of mastering the technical aspects. To increase the range, it is recommended to try several methods:

  • The lure is lowered by 2/3 of the entire length of the rod with an open reel bow. The smooth ejection of the feeder in the forward direction will be replaced by a sharp movement back, and then sent forward again.
  • The bait goes down one level with the reel, also with an open bow. Having taken it to the position behind the back, we move the feeder forward with a powerful throw.
  • With the bow of the reel open, the lure is lowered along the length of the rod. Having previously aimed at the point of the supposed place of the fall of the feeder, with the spinning rod raised high above the level of the head, we swing from the position when the supporting leg is brought forward and the body is tilted to the right.

Such methods will help the fisherman to make a long-range throw with a high degree of accuracy.

The smaller the gears in the main pair, the weaker the coil. For spinning, you need enlarged gears.

FluiDrive Gearling - The main pair gears are smooth-running gears.

Digital Gear Design is a reel marking that uses computer technology.

Haper Gear is a reel, the teeth of the gears of which are subjected to additional machining in order to improve grip and reduce backlash.

How to put the reel on the spinning rod correctly

For successful fishing, you need to choose the right spinning reel. In-store sellers are often condescending to newcomers, thinking only of sales. Therefore, read my note for a beginner spinning player.

Spinning reels are divided into three categories:

  • inertial coils;
  • spinning coils;
  • multiplier reels;

If you have recently set foot on the fisherman's path, it is better to buy a spinning reel as it is less fiddling with it. There are eight criteria to consider when buying a coil. embodying its reliability:

  • smooth running;
  • evenness of winding;
  • bobbin size;
  • line of the line;
  • line laying roller;
  • coil weight;
  • handle;
  • friction clutch;

Let's consider the listed parameters in detail.

The first important criterion is smoothness.

It affects the sensitivity of the coil. The higher it is, the easier it will be to fish. Smooth running depends on the build quality of the coil, materials used in its manufacture, weight and other parameters. The basis of success is the ability of the fisherman to control the lure, and it is impossible to do without the right tackle, which is based on the reel mechanism.

Evenness of winding

Undoubtedly an important parameter, especially when fishing with braids or thin lines. The line should fit perfectly into the bobbin. without dips and bumps. Uneven winding will significantly shorten the cast. As a result, loops are formed. The line will simply get tangled and bunched up. Fishing will be spoiled. Modern reels wind the line evenly, so you shouldn't worry too much about this.

And here you can familiarize yourself with the classification of wobblers.

Bobbin size

The bobbin should be large, as you can put any thickness of line on it. The numbers 1000, 2000 on the spool indicate the size of the spool and the spool itself. The reel also indicates how much line it can hold.

Particular attention should be paid to the material from which the bobbin is made. Usually it is metal or plastic. Plastic is much lighter, which means the coil itself is lighter. On the other hand, the metal bobbin provides a request several meters longer.

Also inquire about a spare spool included. If not, find out if spools are sold separately for this model.

Linear shackle

The shape of the bow is practically irrelevant, despite the fact that they are hollow, thin or standard. The main thing is that when the bow is closed, the line immediately falls on the roller, and does not cling to irregularities and protrusions.

Inspect the part carefully and check for burrs. If there is, then fishing will go wrong, as they will turn the line into a solid ball.

The cost of the coils does not always play a role here. This disadvantage is found in both cheap and expensive models.

Pay attention to what kind of fixation the bow has in the open position. It must be reliable. If this is not observed, then there will be a constant "shooting" of baits. The bow will suddenly close, and the bait will not reach the selected location. You can check as follows: open the bow of the coil, and shake it sharply. If it has closed, refrain from buying.

Line guide roller

The roller ensures correct winding of the line. There are universal models and special ones designed for fishing with braided lines.

Each manufacturer praises their own videos. There is nothing difficult in choosing them.

The main thing is that there are no kinks, burrs and grooves on the rollers. Check how the device responds to the impact on it.

At the slightest touch to the roller, it must rotate, otherwise the line will rub it. It also happens that the line spews through the bows, because it does not fall on the roller.

This cannot be verified upon purchase. Just pay attention to this when fishing and if something goes wrong, return the reel to the seller.

Coil weight

Controversial indicator. The gears inside the case must be made of durable metal. Plastic gears reduce coil sensitivity. Many people think that the heavier the coil, the longer it will last, but it's up to you.

Clutches differ in the degree of load and are rear and front. The load is different for each model.

Ask the seller about the power of the selected model. Today, even on budget coils, the clutches can work with heavy loads.

If after a while you want to use the brake, then give up the choice of reels with a rear drag. It leaves much to be desired on almost all models.

And here you will read about spinning pike.

How to install and set up a spinning reel? We will help you!

How to install a reel on a spinning rod

This is a fairly simple action that any beginner can do. It is necessary to unscrew the mount and insert the reel into a special holder on the handle of the spinning rod. After that, you need to tighten the ring so that it tightens the base of the coil. It should be screwed on tightly so that the coil does not dangle.

However, do not use excessive force to avoid stripping the threads, which are made of plastic.

How to wind the line

Handle

The handle sets the rotary motion to the mechanism. Many BCs have a handle folding system that is triggered after pressing a button, as well as a screw device for changing the position of the handle.

There are models without a push-button system. The handle can be folded and rearranged in them using a screw mechanism.

To do this, the screw is loosened, the handle is set in the desired position, and the screw is tightened again, fixing this position.

To rearrange the handle, in this case, the screw is unscrewed, removed, the handle is rearranged to the opposite side of the reel body, the screw is screwed into the hole until it stops.

The high speed reels are equipped with a double handle. They can have a single handle, but they are supplemented with a compensator that prevents vibrations due to unbalanced handle.

Care and Precautions

  • The line must not come into contact with the rotating parts of the reel.
  • When leaving the coil in storage until next use, make sure it is dry.
  • It is recommended annually to open the coil body and lubricate its mechanism with a special grease.
  • The coil should be used according to the instructions, otherwise, in the event of a breakdown, you will have to rely on your own strength: the warranty does not apply to damage caused by incorrect use of the BC.
  • After use, wipe the reel with alcohol (open areas) and lubricate the line roller with grease.
