Night fishing from the boat. Fishing peaceful fish from a boat near the shore

Night fishing on the Oka River is catchy and magnificent. When an angler has a desire to experience new, unfamiliar sensations, it is worth going on a night fishing.

The piercing silence, seemingly black viscous water, bright lights of lanterns and silvery fish that appear as if by magic will forever remain in the memory of even a not very impressionable person. Fishermen have the opportunity to fish on the Oka from early spring to mid-autumn. As soon as the water brightens in the river, its level will be a meter, one and a half higher than the summer. Usually fishing at night on the Oka River, that is, night biting, stops in the third decade of October.

For fishing in the Moscow region, the Oka river is considered by fishermen to be one of the most notable fishing places to do what you love. The river has a good food base for fish, an excellent environment for its reproduction and habitat. More than thirty species of fish live in the Oka, pike perch, asp, bream, ide, silver bream, perch, catfish, burbot, crucian carp, chub, pike and others. Different conditions, clay, rocky, sandy bottom, pits, rifts, spits create excellent conditions for different ways fishing.

Fish are successfully caught here using the donkey, float rod spinning. From the boat they fish on fishing mugs and trolling.

Fishing on the Oka in summer

Undoubtedly, any fisherman experiences some discomfort in the hot summer. Sometimes in hot weather, sitting with a fishing rod near the water is no easier than in winter cold. The mood is also spoiled by the event that fish usually bite disgustingly at this time and are well caught only in the evening and morning dawn. For many fishermen, this time is comparable to the baleless wilderness. All that remains is to wait for more acceptable weather.

Very few fishing enthusiasts know the following fact. The sultry heat period is the best time to fish for bream.

Excellent large white fish using various fishing gear, for a short warm summer night, some anglers catch up to twenty kilograms.

Night fishing on the Oka river

Actually night fishing practiced on any body of water where there are underwater inhabitants feeding at night. The main collateral good catch at night, is the choice of location. Most often, it bites best at five or ten meters from the coastline.

Less experienced "night lights" who went fishing in the middle of the river make a mistake. Often times, they watch the success of their luckier colleagues in the right place on the shore.

By the way, there are usually few such fishing oases on the Oka, one or two per kilometer of the coast. Rarely there is excellent fishing on the Oka, when two or three fishermen can comfortably catch at one place at once. No amount of bait and flavor can lure the fish to another part of the river. Actually, all night fishing takes place without any bait.

Even if all the promising sections of the river are occupied, one should not despair. Cool places exist not only near the coast, but also closer to the middle of the river. But here you need to know that on a number of Russian rivers, night fishing from a boat is prohibited by law. Therefore, if a promising point is found far from the coast, they fish with the Bolognese method or with a feeder, performing long casts.

How to find a promising fish section of a river

The most common is the following configuration of promising fishing places for fishing on the Oka. To the right and left of the underwater plateau where fishing takes place, there are deeper sections of the river. And the plateau itself rises one or two meters above this site. You can identify such places from the bank of the Oka with a long fishing rod and a fishing line, at the end of which a depth gauge is fixed. Identified promising elevations above the depths should be fished at the beginning of the night or late in the evening... If the fish feeds on the discovered plateau, then it will not make you wait long for a bite.

Find the right places for night fishing is not easy at all. But once the site is found, it will delight the angler with rich catches for decades.

What kind of fish is caught on the Oka at night

The following fish suffer from chronic insomnia, if you arrange them to reduce the likelihood of being caught, you get the following list:

  • silver bream;
  • eye;
  • clip;
  • white-eyed;
  • bastard;
  • roach;
  • chub;
  • large bream.

Sometimes, in addition to the listed species of fish, at night it is possible to catch also medium-sized zander or bersh.

Attachments used for fishing on the Oka

Since the main object on the Oka is representatives of bream, it is best to use bloodworms as a nozzle.

For mid-spring and fall, this bait is a must. In summer, bloodworms are also highly desirable, so required attribute fisherman-lover of night fishing, is the cooler bag. In it, between two elements cooled to a temperature of minus ten degrees and below, a crank nozzle is stored. In order not to freeze bloodworms, refrigeration elements must be wrapped in five layers of dry newspaper sheets. Where it is difficult to buy a bloodworm or to get it, and in summer it is sometimes impossible, it is partially replaced by a dung worm.

In the heat, maggot starts to work pretty well.

Fishing tackle for night fishing on the Oka

The length of the rod depends on the season, which is preferable to fish. If in the off-season the most popular is an eight, nine-meter rod, then in June, July, experienced fishermen recommend using a six-meter one.

The tackle used for fishing at night for catching white fish on the Oka is elementary. The rod will fit between six and nine meters in length. The main thin line, with an even more delicate thin leash, a strong small hook of the eighteenth, twentieth numbers according to international numbering. It is difficult to plant a tender mosquito larva - bloodworms on larger hooks.

Float for fishing at night

Separately, it is necessary to tell about floats for night fishing. A float with a carrying capacity of four to six grams will be just fine for night fishing. At night, it is not easy for fish to find fast moving bait.

An inverted blob or float ball shape will work best in a midstream. When holding them, such floats do not float up and do not lie completely on the surface of the water. The antenna of the float should be three, four millimeters in diameter, just under the silicone cambric of the firefly, which is used for night fishing.

The firefly is almost the main highlight when fishing with a float rod at night. You can buy a firefly today in almost any fishing store. The most common diameters are 3-4 mm.

Flashlight for fishing at night

For a successful and comfortable night fishing, it is necessary to use an LED headlamp. Headlamps with 12 LEDs have proven themselves quite well. Flashlights with a large number of LEDs do not illuminate much better, but they drain the batteries quite quickly.

When fishing, you need to have two lanterns, one worker, one spare. Without a flashlight, fishing at night for the angler is no convenience and pleasure from fishing. Do not make the bait, do not put the caught fish in the net, do not change the torn leash. So for a fisherman, this is a must.

The technique and tactics of midnight fishing are not much different from daytime fishing.

Night fishing on the Oka hides in itself an abundance of unsolved secrets and amazing phenomena that still await their discoverers.

The twilight activity of pike perch is a well-known fact. Once my friend brought home a caught pike perch (about 1 kg) and put him in an outdoor pool. We fed the fanged predator with live fry, which I occasionally caught for live bait fishing. Fifteen to twenty fish were launched into the pool to the pike perch. In the daytime, the pike perch did not seem to notice the fry that swam very close to him, but with the onset of darkness he began to fatten. True, pike perch did not fatten every day. We watched a hunting predator. Sometimes, fleeing from the fanged, the fry jumped out of the pool.

Why did I talk about this? There are places where walleye fishing is especially successful after dark. The predator can come to such places at sunset or be here in an inactive state and activate in the dark. The structure of such points can be different: a drop-off, a roll, a spit, a shallow plateau bordering a ditch or oxbow, a section of the water area (most often shallow water or a place with an average depth) with some large object at the bottom (for example, a snag), etc. etc.

Often, my friends and I, having arrived at the point before dark, feel the presence of pike perch during the bait, sometimes we even touch the predator with the hooks, as evidenced by the scales caught on the stingers of the twins, but the fanged one does not react. Biting begins at nightfall, suddenly, as if on command. Just a moment ago, we were combing the bottom with our vibro-tails and mandulas to no avail, and now we suddenly received sharp and confident bites of pike perch in the same place! This scenario of the development of events is repeated from day to day.

In the fall, I purposefully do not engage in night fishing for zander, but on every evening fishing I try to stay until complete darkness, when there is a chance to catch a large predator. The duration of active biting is most often short - no more than half an hour, but this time is quite enough to catch several pike perches.

Unlike the running night fishing for zander from the shore, when everyone is trying to distribute everything to their pockets to the maximum (so that it is convenient to get it if necessary), there are no special difficulties in fishing from a boat. You will definitely need a good one for any activities on the boat and for the way back home. The tackle and lures I use are the same as for fishing with. The rest of the equipment is also standard for boat fishing.

The main danger for an angler on the water in the dark is represented by hemp ridges (in low water) and vessels passing along the channel. However, with a good knowledge of the reservoir and the observance of simple, these dangers can be avoided.

In summer, fishing for bream at night on the river with the current is quite interesting and effective. It is with the onset of darkness that large bream are less careful, so the likelihood of catching them increases significantly. this can be easily checked if you come to Kazan for summer holidays.

July conditions

The “mode of the day” in fish changes with the onset of July, especially in hot weather. Often, fish feed, which means they are well caught, only in the early morning and late evening. But during daylight hours, fish hide in the depths, where it is not so hot, completely ignoring even the most attractive food. The exception is cloudy days, then they do not refuse to eat in the daytime.

In July, catching bream is effective at sunrise or sunset.

Fishermen know that the warmer the water, the more active and better the fish of the carp family feel in it: carp, carp, bream, ide. Spawning in these fish occurs much later than in others, at high water temperatures. Therefore, in July, the hottest month of the year, these fish feel just fine.

Most likely, in summer, the behavior and appetite of fish is influenced not only by air and water temperatures, but also by the strength of sunlight. And experienced fishermen in July prefer to go for large and careful trophies at night. Catching at night for crucian carp and bream is especially successful. And with the help of the bottom rig, you can also enjoy ide and pike perch catches.

At night, they fish both from the shore and from a boat on the water, which is anchored.

Bream on a dark night

In summer, fishing for bream at night on the river with the current is quite interesting and effective. It is with the onset of darkness that large bream are less careful, so the likelihood of catching them increases significantly.

You can fish both from the boat and from the shore

Basically, for this, side fishing rods with reels are used: one or two on each of the sides of the boat, equipped with bottom rigging, which are lowered downstream directly under the boat.

You can use a regular lead sinker, a leash with a nozzle, or feeder trough also with a leash. The current will carry the load and hooks (depending on its strength) by about 15-30 meters.

If you do not have a permanent light source with you, but only a temporary one (for example, a lantern), then it is advisable to attach a bell to the tip of the fishing rods.

At night, bream feed actively, so there is no need to spare bait. It MUST contain live components. Another nuance, it is necessary to feed the fishing spot before dusk, because with the onset of darkness, bream can be scared away from the place of fishing with pieces of bait, which will fall on the fish from above.

If you fish from a boat, then the baiting procedure is much easier: the bait balls do not need to be "shot" at a great distance, but carefully let them into the water from the board. The rest of the work will be done by the current: the bait will sink to the bottom in the place where the hooks with the attachment lie.

The bait should have a consistency enough to prevent the balls from scattering before they hit the bottom. So that the current does not carry the balls far from the boat, it is reasonable to mix clay or a handful of small stones into the mixture.

Night catch

It must be borne in mind that the current will erode the bait and its particles will go downstream further than the place where the balls fall. Therefore, it is necessary to correctly calculate the weight of the sinker or feeder. In a different situation, you will feed in one place, and the hooks will be in another. The result is fishing "idle".

If fishing occurs from the shore, then the load must be increased so that the nozzle remains on the bottom, and does not drag along it. In the role of a bait for catching bream, you can use:

  • worms;
  • a bunch of 3-4 maggots,
  • a few grains of steamed barley + grain of canned corn,
  • cooked pasta - horns or stars.

If the place for night fishing is chosen correctly, if it is timely fed with good bait, then night fishing for bream will be 100% interesting and successful. Summer is just beginning - great catches everyone and good luck!

Night fishing- it is always romance and unknown, and especially night fishing for zander with wobblers. What are the requirements for night fishing with spinning from a boat, where to look and what wobblers to seduce pike perch at night - article by Mikola Zukhar.

Mikola Zukhar: Night Zander Fishing

In the evening, after a sultry summer day, the heat recedes. Gradually, silence and tranquility descend on the shore along with the refreshing coolness. The last ray of sunshine flashes over the tops of darkening spruce trees, then begins to sink, entangling itself in the floodplain coastal thickets, leaving a fading pink trail behind it.

High above the river, hesitantly and furtively pierces the darkening and thick celestial void a pale trembling point of a distant star, then again and again. On a sandy shallow spit, far protruding from the coast, two fast streams are visible, enveloping a lone boulder and diverging to the sides. Where the current weakens, smoothing the flow, the polished water mirror is now and then covered with cracks in splashes of fine bleak. Gradually, a lilac-purple dusk is thickly approaching from the opposite shore.

The colors of the landscape fade, turning into dark gray wadded blooming spots. And suddenly, where the bleaks were playfully playfully frolicking, short, dull, but capacious and imperious: boo-boo! .. And for a moment a little fish crumbles like a silver rain ...

Even in a distant carefree youth, when until pitch darkness, or even until dawn, I sat with donks on the shore, enjoying the silence and coolness, I heard a lot of fish splashes cutting the romantic twilight of the night and stirring up a dreamy fishing imagination. These sounds differed in their own way.

Biting, sonorous, when the fish, most likely asp, almost entirely jumped out to the surface. Or, on the contrary, soft, smooth, but strong low frequency, and then dreamed that it was coming out on the surface of the catfish. And somehow it stuck in my memory by someone's wise hint that it was a dull short splash, almost not scattering spray, that it came to night hunting robber walleye. As a rule, such dull persistent blows most often happened almost at the very coastal edge or on river shallows, which cut the river far apart, rocky, pebble or sandy spits.

At the right time at the right place

It is wasteful to try to catch fish in a place where there is none. Nevertheless, we often do not know about this, and try, hoping for luck, to try our luck. After fishing, I record observations of the catch in a fishing diary in short phrases, with dotted strokes. Great attention I pay additional circumstances: what I noticed around.

And it so happens that a pattern is built: in the same place at the very late dawn, no, no, and a powerful fish tail will hit the water. I check the depth, and there it is not at all - there is a vast sandbank among the vastness and depths. And the river flow is much more noticeable here. Bursts large fish it may not be here, but if a flock of bleak or sorogi has chosen a place in the shallows, there is no doubt that sooner or later a predator will appear here.

And so a point appears in the navigator, which should be paid close attention to in several fishing trips, and not to skip further after a couple of idle casts. The main thing is to catch hold of the fish at least once. And then let there be not entirely successful trips. This is one of the places where pike perch emerges, just other circumstances today prevented the successful catch, or even the right key was not picked up at all. By the term "other circumstances" I tend to understand reasons independent of the angler that in some way affect the fishing.

So, for example, in a flowing reservoir regulated by dams, nibbling of fish, as a rule, depends on the presence of a current, alas. It's good when the water discharge schedule is settled and you can somehow predict the strength and direction of the current. But in our area this regime I have never been able to calculate, or maybe it does not exist at all. However, the lack of flow is not a reason to get upset. Happened to catch without him. Simply, fishing then is not so generous in bites, but no less interesting. But the most popular "other circumstance" is, of course, the weather.

As a rule, the wind dies down on short summer nights in our area. But I happened to successfully catch even with its power of 4m / s. If more, I refrain from going out into the water in the dark. Small intermittent rain is also not a hindrance. Fish bite - checked. If it's raining for a long time, I think it's best to sleep at home.

The first bite of zander often occurs before dark. As a rule, these are specimens up to a kilogram. And the thicker the darkness of the night falls on the water, the more it seems that the fish becomes bolder and more active. More and more often, then further, then closer, muffled zander blows on the surface begin to be heard. The best time fishing on the night spit, according to my observations, is the darkest hours. With dawn, the pike perch gradually shifts in depth.

Its place is immediately taken by the ubiquitous perch. But cloudy matinees do happen, and the pike perch can stay on the spit for an extra hour after sunrise. When goose bursts are heard with an enviable frequency on the shallows, everything is clear - the fish is hunting. But I also went on a fishing trip at a time where, in a checked place, all night long you could hardly discern among the playful jumps one or two dull zander blows. But the fish continued to be regularly caught or, more often, to attack the bait. That is, the absence of visible (audible) activity on the surface does not mean that we will fail today.

Requirements of the night

On a regular fishing trip, I tend to experiment with tackle. I would like to try this fishing rod, and that one, and even the one that lurks in the depths of the tube. And how is she in today's conditions with this coil? And in larger size? But with such a line? Having caught one or two fish, or even just having received a few blank bites, I update the tackle in whole or in separate parts. But when I go out hunting for pike-perch at night, I take only tackle that has been tested and tested by many fishing tackles.

Firstly, the night is short and sometimes you don't have time to figure out the current fish preferences, and it's already dawn.

Secondly, a light hook of the fishing line to the rings, a single overlap for a tulip or a drop of a pair of loops from the reel, insufficient line tension at the first revolutions of the reel, which is perceived as an insignificant trifle during the day, easily fixed and corrected, can turn into a real problem at night.

Although sometimes I went out to fish on some streamers in waders, the boat is preferable - more degrees of freedom. In the midst of a pike-perch battle, when the night cannonade of bursts is heard here and there, you can forget about the anchor rope and, catching on, leave the battle for a long time. By the way, if this does happen, sometimes, even in the daytime, I prefer to cut it off, so as not to get lost from the place of a well-placed boat.

In short, on a night spinning fishing every little thing matters. And the simpler and more reliable our arsenal, the better.

We catch the place

So it looks like the fish are active today. Every now and then, sometimes closer, then further, predatory impudent splashes are heard. But I noticed that casting directly onto the splash can bring a bite in the ratio of almost one in twenty. Conversely, there are no visible and audible signs of the presence of fish, and suddenly an unexpected bite. At night I try to constantly maneuver with the positioning of the boat, not really masking it. Sometimes, even put it directly on the smallest area. Simply, according to the habit worked out over the years, I completely exclude any noise.

Sometimes pike perch can peck at the very side, which speaks of his carelessness in the dark.

If the braid is saturated with bottom hooks, I completely try to exclude the bait from touching the bottom. Although, as a rule, it is often the impact of a wobbler shovel on sand or a pebble that provokes the fish to bite. But it also bites with a creative approach to animation in the water column.

And I still prefer to fish before the risk of saving the wobbler and shutting it out of the process for ten minutes, or even longer. The fishing technique with the constant movement of the boat around the circumference has proven itself well. It's very good to have a partner. So, after standing for twenty minutes in more than one place, having received a bite or even a fish, I slowly begin to shift, lightly paddling. And the partner, who now and then continues to make idle casts in the same area, suddenly gets an excellent effective bite, although he threw it again in the same place where he did it thirty times the day before.

A small change in the angle or sector of the fishing can lead to success.

Also, without removing the anchor, you can increase or decrease the length of the anchor halyard. But at the same time do not forget where this halyard stretches. It seems to me that there are as many techniques of wobbler animation as there are anglers capable of inventing them. I don’t go broke on countdown type. But floating and suspending give great opportunities to maneuver with the wiring. And it may not necessarily be a smooth twitch with long pauses, a popular stop-and-go, or a sluggish, uniform roll on the verge of stopping the bait.

How to seduce

When pike perch feeds on a scythe, it can bite, as it seems to me, on any spinning lure from the great variety of modern spinning lures. It was caught on “cut” type spinners, or, more understandably “kastmaster”, on spinners 2-4 numbers in the Mepps classification, on a variety of jig, including a diverter lead.

I don't think the fish would have ignored many other types of spinning lures. But all the same, it seems to me, it is easier, simpler and more accessible at depths of 0.5 - 1.5 meters to offer zander a variety of wobblers, which involve elements of creativity in their animation. After numerous experiments with various kinds of "fat men", which, for simplicity, I include in the large group of "krenki" and, on the other polar side - "minnow", now I have become firmly convinced that for fishing on the spit you need to have both.

After spending a whole season of night fishing with only "cranks", I realized that I would not be able to refute the classical postulates of the theory about the preferences of zander over extended lures. Although I didn’t stay without bites even when I offered only "fat men", for example, Poonton 21 Red Rag. But when the "fat man" tried to "stretch", for example, in the Lucky Craft Moonsult CB100 model, the bites became more frequent.

It seemed that crank must necessarily be thundering, while minnow in a "silent" performance is capable of showing excellent results. Currently, many eminent manufacturers fishing lures offer just a huge selection in their lineup.

I would like to try this model, and this form, and this color, but there is a sorely lack of time to “embrace the immense”. I tried to form my own catchy set of wobblers for fishing on the night spit. But new items appear, there is no time to return to the proven models, and some lures from the "youth team" begin to surpass the results of the previous achievements of the "oldies", both "cranks" and "minnow" For example, in this season Flash Pointer 115 from LC performed excellently.

It seems that the pike perch pounced on the wobbler with particular fury. And the novelty of the summer Pointer100SR from the same company consistently brought valid pike perch on every fishing trip! I'm sure there are worthy replacements for these baits, but I'm only talking about my own practice.

But what about the intermediate group of wobblers between "fatties" and "minnoshki"? I deliberately did not indulge in a variety of pike perch "shedami". In order to somehow draw the line in understanding, I tried to catch lures with polar forms. The role of the controller was played by the “silent”, but always (!) Responsive Rapala Shad Shallow Runner 9 bites.

As a rule, if I have a partner in the boat, I suggest fishing with this "classic of the last century" and my friend does not remain without a catch. And in his person I have a "catchy control group", starting from the results in my experiments with wobblers "thick and thin" forms.

A set of volumetric lures, more simply called wobblers, can be easily supplemented and changed. In addition, it is subject to the subjective assessments of the fisherman himself, depends on his own preferences and capabilities. And each bait requires individual animation features. And this is such a vast topic that it should not even be touched upon within the framework of a short story. In the next season, I would like to understand if there is a clear advantage when fishing for nocturnal zander on a spit in minnow wobblers over the shad form. Until then ...

I fussed about, doing more sweeping paddles. One hand was quietly lowering the anchor, while the other was already groping for the warm rod handle. The wobbler whistled through the surrounding dusk and splashed down into the area of the splash. Gently picking up slack while pulling the rod at the same time. One more time and a pause. The bait hovered in the thickness and slowly began to sink. I again slightly tugged the tip of the rod, imagining how the wobbler was "nodding its head". So gradually and exhausted the whole forest. Nobody responded.

Sighing, he threw it not far and completely in the opposite direction from the splash. I waited until the current began to carry away the bait and began as slow as possible, barely turning the handle of the reel. And suddenly an electric shock pierced the hand, a powerful jerk and a persistent pull "give up the fishing rod"! "Boo-boo!" - this is already the thunder of bursts deafeningly cut the silence of the night over the gloomy surface of the river, and the fish frantically beats on the hook. Somewhere deep inside my heart sank and sank. He!

If a fisherman wants to diversify his fishing, he often resorts to fishing at night. But how should you prepare for a night camping trip? What to take with you and what to watch out for? All the necessary things need to be collected from the day before, then nothing will be forgotten for sure.

If you collect your equipment just before leaving, then there is a high probability of forgetting something. Be sure to take any rags to wipe your hands, and not go into the water at night. Tongs are also required - you will need them to remove the hooks. Of course, do not forget the tackle and bait. An object without which one cannot fish at night is a flashlight. Often, fishermen take two or three flashlights: one is put on the forehead, the other illuminates long distances, the other is a spare. A fisherman needs a headlamp when doing something with both hands.

You also need to take a knife or hatchet: you can clean fish with a knife, you can chop wood with an ax. These items will also help in case of danger. For example, if an animal attacks or something else happens. Underwater hunters tell many stories where a knife saved their lives: they got entangled in seaweed, and there was no more air, then the knife, which clung to the hand, helped them. Usually they fish at night in the summer, so you don't need to take a lot of clothes, but it's worth looking at the weather forecast, because the summer can be cold too. Clothing should be comfortable and preferably waterproof. On his feet - rubber boots. At night, the fish in the water feels calm, for her this is the most favorable time, therefore, the appetite increases - the water temperature decreases, the waves stop. A big catch can be caught at night.

The only drawback is that there is no visibility, even with a lantern, not everything is clearly visible. It is almost impossible to stand all night fishing, so a chair or a fishing chair is a must. After all, fatigue will arise during the night, and you will want to sit. For convenience, you can buy glowing floats... One float “burns” for about 5 hours. Night fishing helps you to be at one with nature. You can fish at night both from the boat and from the shore. But for beginner fishermen it is better to start from the shore. Zander is good at night, as it makes its way closer to the coast for prey. So does the ide. In general, night fishing is more effective than day fishing, because during the daytime the fish wants to hide from the rays of the sun, and appetite wakes up at night. Fishing on a boat far from the shore does not always bring a catch - at night the fish swims to the shore.

The fishing season for carp begins a short period of time after the start of its spawning. Fishing is most effective on warm days. Fishing for carp continues until August, and in the first days of autumn the water becomes cold and the bite becomes weak. In the first months of autumn, it will no longer be possible to fish for carp.

The most numerous predator. It lives almost everywhere except for springs and mountain rivers. In length, it can reach 50 cm and weigh up to 5 kg. Divide grass (small) and deep perch. Small perch reaches maximum weight 100 g and lives mainly in algae and at shallow depths.

In dirty reservoirs, there is less perch, as he loves clear water. The color of the perch depends on the reservoir. In dark, silted and overgrown reservoirs, it is dark green, with a yellow or reddish tint on the sides. On the sides there are dark stripes from head to tail, for which he was nicknamed "the striped robber". The lighter cleaner water, the lighter the color of this fish. The stripes may be almost invisible, and the scales sometimes even take on a silvery hue.

The activity of bream resumes after spring floods; it begins to move to the old spawning grounds. Many people try to catch bream on their way to spawning, but ignorance of fish habits gives poor results.

Time before spawning

The favorite spawning grounds for bream are impenetrable thickets of vines and shallow backwaters. At this time, a float rod is used to catch bream up to 1.5 kg. Their bright spawning outfit with shiny greenish sides and a bluish tint of the back sparkles in shallow water and betrays the bream hidden in the thickets. In the absence of wind, bream bites all day, especially in the evening. But a day before the spawn, bream stops responding completely to any bait. The bream gathers in flocks and stands motionless on the water until the start of spawning. But then, when spawning begins, the fish falls into a rampage and begins to swing the vine and spawn in several passes, constantly changing and coming back. This rampage continues until the whole flock spawns, starting with large individuals and ending with the smallest ones. After spawning, the fish lays on the bottom.
