Rod without rings application. How to tie a line to a rod without rings using different methods

There is nothing difficult in the correct rigging of a float rod, and in the last guide on this issue we touched on this issue in sufficient detail.

In this article, you will learn how to collect float rod, equip it with a reel, float, sinkers, hook and other components, and then adjust the tackle correctly.

Fishing rod rigging scheme (for the fastest)

Diagram of the device of a float rod, according to which you need to sequentially collect all the elements into the finished tackle together
  1. The main line, for example, 0.18 for catching small carp.
  2. A float with a ring on the body and a silicone cambric at the bottom (on the keel).
  3. Weights.
  4. Leash 20 cm (thinner line than main line).
  5. Hook, for example, No. 5 Russian numbering or No. 8 European (for catching medium-sized crucian carp with the palm of your hand).

Let's move on to the detailed instructions for the step-by-step assembly of a float rod.

1. Preparation of the rod

There are 2 options for rigging the rod before attaching the fishing line and other components of the tackle. Decide what kind of rod you have.

You have a fishing rod with rings

If you have a fishing rod with rings, it is called a bologna rod (or lapdog). In this case, you need a coil. If you are a beginner, we recommend equipping your rod with a light drum-type plastic reel.

With active fishing, do not large fish choose a lightweight plastic inertial coil drum type

Bezinertsionka will be superfluous in the Bolognese fishing rod if active fishing is carried out 5-8 meters from the shore. The task of the reel in this case is only to play the role of the line storage. A long casts in float fishing with spot feeding, places are not needed at all. You will need a spinning reel if you are using match fishing, but this is a professional look fishing, not for beginners.

But at the spinning reel there is one indisputable a plus, and even the author of the article will definitely take it, if the purpose of fishing is carp or other large fish, which will give serious resistance when playing. The inertia have friction brake, which blows the line off the reel when the load is too strong. Thanks to this, during the fight against strong carp, the line will not break, but will slowly pull into the water. Nevertheless, sooner or later the fish will get tired and you can pull it out by evenly twisting the handle of the reel.

Attach the reel to the bologna rod holder. Usually the screw mechanism is unscrewed there, the coil handle is inserted into the grooves, and then the screw is screwed back. Sometimes, instead of a screw, there is a clip that first opens to allow space for the reel handle to be inserted and then closes.

We attach the fishing line to the reel. To begin with, thread the tip of the line through all the rings, starting with the last small one and gradually passing through the largest ring that is near the reel. Now you need to secure the line to the spool with a strong knot or joint.

The photo shows an example of a self-tightening loop for attaching a fishing line to a reel

Be careful! If you fasten the line on the reel with a regular knot, it will untie very quickly, and such a knot will not untie exactly.

You have a fishing rod without rings

A rod for float fishing without rings is called a fly rod. Tackle collection is as follows:

Attach a special connector at the end of the fishing rod(a small element that has a clockwork notch, which is then covered with a cap). The connector serves as a way of attaching the main line of the float to the rod. You need to fasten the connector with superglue. Place a drop on the tip of the swing rod and then push the connector firmly down. If the rod tip is too thin, you can even shorten its length a little so that a suitable length of the tip fits into the connector.

Make a loop at the end of your main line. Pull some line out of the reel and create a loop, for example. This knot has the property of not stretching and not moving along the line, therefore, at any tension, even during the hook of the tackle and strong blows- the knot will not open and will not disperse.

Slide off the connector cap and insert the tied loop into it and then close the cap. The fishing line is securely attached to the fishing rod.

2. Rigging a fishing rod with a float

If you are using a rod without rings- then you need to remember that the length of the line should be equal to the length of the rod, or exceed it by a maximum of half a meter. It is this amount of line that makes it easy to cast and easily pull rig or fish out of the water right into your hand.

How to attach a float with a ring at the top to a fishing line

  • First, thread the fishing line into the ring from the bottom side up.
  • You put on the fishing line a special rubber cambric, which you should have bought in the store (it may have been included with the float, and they are also often found in sets of lead pellets, which we also need to equip the float rod).
  • And insert the bottom of the float (keel) into the rubber cambric, as shown in the figure at the beginning of the article.

How to attach a float without a ring to the line

There are also such floats in which there is no ringlet. One cambric is no longer enough here. We'll have to use two (we both put on the fishing line and insert the tips of the float into them - the tip and the lower keel). The vertex often has more large size, therefore, the cambric must be selected by diameter.

Try not to be shallow with cambric, when changing the working depth of your rig (moving the float along the line) cambric is erased and torn. Therefore, it is important to use not very tight elastic bands.

An alternative version of the rig for those who do not use cambric but prefer stoppers. It is very simple and convenient.

3. Correct loading of the float equipment

Correct weighting of the float (at the very beginning of the tip)

Some people call this the shipment of the float, although in fact it is correct to call it the load. You need to fix the lead pellets on the fishing line in such a way that only top part float (its tip). This setting of the tackle allows you to improve the sensitivity to the bites of small and medium fish.

If you have seen large floats before, in which most of the body sticks out of the water, and anglers are trying to catch something on them, this is the wrong approach, unless the angler (or any other fish, in this case, the sensitivity of the rig does not matter at all) and it is important that the live bait does not greatly distort the movement of the float by its presence).

Loading at home

At home, you can set the correct float weight in a large bottle (from 1.5 to 5 liters). Just add the weights, clamping with pliers (last of all with your teeth) 30 cm from the end of the line and lower the rig into the water. As soon as you notice that the whole body of the float is submerged under the water, and most of the tip remains above the water, then you have completely unloaded the float.

How to unload a float on a pond

The principle is similar to checking the load at home, but here you can throw directly into the water. Keep the float close to the weights and drop it 2-3 meters from the shore. If the body of the float is still visible above the water, add more weights.

Be sure to set to the minimum depth, or that you are casting to sufficient depth, the weights must be suspended and not fall to the bottom.

Submerge the fishing line with lead pellets until you reach only the tip of the float above the water, it is desirable that the body is completely under water. This will provide the best sensitivity. Although it is acceptable for a small part of the body to be visible above the surface in windy conditions, this will reduce visual illusion as the float passes through the waves.

If you loaded too much- use scissors, pliers or forceps (teeth last, take care of the enamel) to pinch off a small piece of lead. Be careful not to damage the line.

4. Attaching the leash

The leash is an essential part of the float rod. He serves faithfully in the following ways:

  1. During the hook, the thinner line of the leash will break faster and you can keep the rig with the float and lead pellets. All you have to do to recover is to attach a new leash with a hook.
  2. The fish is afraid of a thick line, and a thin one, and even from it, it almost does not notice and is much more active in pecking at the bait.

We recommend using fluorocarbon lines for tying leashes. Actually, this material was made specifically as a leash. Fluorocarbon is much more expensive than fishing line, but stores sell reels of 5, 10, 15, 25, 50 m.This will reduce the spending of the fishing budget, and even a 10-meter reel will be enough for almost the entire season, because only 25 mm is spent on one leash fishing line.

Leash thickness:

  • If you use mono, then 0.05 mm thinner than the main line. For example, you have a main line with a diameter of 0.18 mm, so use a mono line lead of 0.13-0.14 mm.
  • If you use fluorocarbon, then leave the thickness of the leader the same as the main line. Since fluorocarbon is a less durable material than monofilament line, there is no need to reduce the thickness of this section.

How to tie a leash with a line

The easiest way is to use the same one (the knitting pattern of which you could see above in this article), although there are other knots for knitting leashes, nevertheless, the figure eight is quite suitable and the knot strength is at a height. A bloody knot is also suitable for this purpose.

After tying and attaching the hook, the length of the leash should be in the region of 15-20 cm, so initially take a segment 25-30 cm long.

5. How to tie the hook to the line correctly

It's time to attach a small hook to the end of our fluorocarbon leash.

Step-by-step instructions for crocheting a simple knot:

  1. Pass the end of the fluorocarbon leash through the eye of the hook from the inside.
  2. Pull out the line 5 cm and form a loop.
  3. Make 5 turns around the hook (if the line is thinner than 0.15 mm, you can make 6-7 turns).
  4. And then pass the end of the line through the loop you formed earlier.
  5. Moisten the fishing line and tighten the knot tightly (both actions are important, a wet knot during tightening will not be able to burn out and the line will not be injured, but it is necessary to tighten strongly because after tightening we will cut off the tip, and further tightening with premature cutting of the fishing line can dissolve the knot).
  6. Cut off the excess end of the line with scissors. But leave at least 1mm from the tip.

Which hook size should you choose? The size depends on the size of the fish's mouth. Imagine what kind of loot you are looking for and buy the appropriate hooks. If the prey is medium-sized crucian carp up to the palm, then according to European numbering hook number 8 will suit you, according to Russian number 5. If you catch bleak, then much less. European No. 14, Russian No. 2-3.

Does the color of the hook matter? This is more of a myth than a serious hook evaluation parameter. Pay more attention to the strength and sharpness of the hook rather than the color. Owner Japanese crochet hooksa good choice, they are sharp and durable.

Short or long forend? A long shank (the shank is the part of the hook from the ring to the fold) works well for fish with a small mouth (e.g. bream, crucian carp, roach). For fish with a large mouth, a short fore-end is more suitable (for carp, perch).

Tackle check

Check out the tackle you have assembled using the example diagram below. Here is an example for catching crucians up to 500 g, whether they are very small crucians or large ones, much larger than the palm. Large individuals will cause you problems when playing, but this tackle will cope with them.

Check the following items:

  • The fly rod connector is tightly fixed and will not fly out when the rod is shaken (for example, when the rig is hooked on seaweed in the water).
  • The line is firmly attached to the connector (using the figure-eight knot guarantees a secure connection).
  • The rubber cambric of the float should not be too tight and when moving along the line will not be worn out by the line.
  • Lead pellets, when attached to the line with pliers or when cutting them with scissors, should not damage the line. Inspect it and if there is still deformation, it is better to move the weights higher along the line, and tie a leash to the place of deformation.
  • The hook should be sharp and strong.

This completes the equipping of the fishing rod with a reel, a float, sinkers, a leash and a hook, you can start feeding and fishing. Leave comments and questions, I will be happy to answer!

Many experienced fishermen use a variety of tricks to increase their catch. It is much more difficult for beginners to achieve high results, so they have to work hard. The float rod has appeared since ancient times and is effectively used for fishing many types of fish. Similar fishing rods show nice results when the bait is live bait.

Buy or make a fishing rod?

On big catch influences correct rigging rods, fishing tactics and much more. Therefore, you should take into account the smallest nuances that will help in hunting fish. A sufficient number of rods have been produced for anglers, and everyone can choose according to their preferences.

Beginners are faced with a dilemma: whether to buy a complete rod from the store, or to assemble it on their own. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages.

If the choice fell on assembling a fishing rod with your own hands, then you will have to purchase all the necessary parts and have a minimum of knowledge about how to equip a float rod for summer fishing... So, for the assembly you will need:

  • fishing rod;
  • float;
  • fishing line;
  • hook;
  • crusher.

At first glance, it might seem like putting the elements together - the most difficult task and it will take quite a long time to work.

But when buying a complete set, you can forget about the tedious self-assembly and you will not need to deal with the device and think about where and what to attach. A purchased fishing rod significantly saves valuable time, and if the fisherman decided to immediately go hunting for underwater predators, then this option is ideal for a beginner.

But, collecting the rod with your own hands, you can adjust the fishing gear according to individual preferences. This option is suitable for more experienced fishermen who want to master the fishing craft to perfection. For this reason, professionals are constantly improving their rod, hence every angler should know how to assemble a float rod.

Varieties of gear

Despite the large assortment of rods that are designed for fishing a certain category of fish, it is better to rely on a universal type. They can catch any kind of fish, and if you apply competent tactics, then fishing will be more successful. It should be borne in mind that fishing rods have the most different lengths, and if the fisherman prefers long casts, then he should purchase a long fishing rod with a reel, which is easier to carry out long float casting.

Despite the huge selection of rods, there are only 3 types of them.:

  1. Match. The rod is similar to a spinning rod because it has a sliding float design. With this tool, you can make long casts into deep places.
  2. Plug-in. Due to the special design, it is easy to produce point delivery of gear to a specific place in a pond or river.
  3. Flight feathers. The tool is not equipped with a reel, and the casts are carried out thanks to the swings.

How to choose a float fly rod

Professional and novice fishermen prefer this particular version of the rod, as it is intended for a wide variety of fishing. What you need to know about the swing rod:

Not all float rods include a reel, so when choosing, you should pay attention to this important point... There are models that don't even have special coil mounts.

The length of the swing rod ranges from 400 to 600 cm.

How to equip a fly rod

In general, the rigging of a swing rod includes a number of parts that are fixed to each other and make up a single mechanism. How to assemble a float tackle, diagram:

  • in order to install a float on a fishing line, you should purchase 2 cambric;
  • lead crushers are purchased for loading the float; these elements are both with a hole and with a notch;
  • sinkers are attached to the line with an interval of 7 cm between themselves, so their number should be more than two pieces; the reserve is the last weight that loads the entire tackle.
  • so that the fish is not afraid of the fishing line and can safely swim to the bait, you should buy a leash.

The leash has one more advantage: often the hook clings to the snag, and in this case you can only lose it, and the whole tackle will remain unharmed.

How to choose a float

To maximize your catch results when using a fly rod, it is best to choose a float with a thin top. It will be ideal if the center of the float smoothly goes up to the constriction. Goose feathers can also be a good substitute for a float. They are especially sensitive and react to any fluctuation in the bait.

To cope with the task of rigging, you should know the type of installation for each type of rod, especially if the model does not have rings. How to attach a float with a ring to the fishing line:

  • it is necessary to push the fishing line into the float from the bottom up;
  • then a cambric is attached to the fishing line;
  • the bottom of the float is set in cambric.

Installing a float without a ring:

  • instead of a ring, one cambric can be used;
  • to make the float more comfortable, you should use special rubber bands, but they should not squeeze the line too much.

Float loading: some subtleties

For good catch fish it is recommended to adhere to some rules for loading the float... As a rule, only the top (antenna) should be visible from the water. It is to this extent that the weights are installed, thereby regulating the level of immersion.

Windy weather can create big problems for sensitive tackle. In this case, the float should be adjusted so that the wind does not interfere with fishing.

The loading of the float depends on the reservoir, since the current in it can be either calm or strong. The sinkers are hooked until the marks on the antenna are equal to the water, sometimes even lower. But, no matter how loaded the float, the attack of the predator will make itself felt.

Before going fishing, you should unload the float in advance. This is done at home. It is enough to find a large container (barrel) and throw the tackle there. If it is skewed, it means that there are very few attached weights and you need to pick up more, but you need to understand that a huge number of them can scare off the fish. For this reason, weights of different diameters are attached, for example, one large and two small.

Fixing the leash on the line

For beginners, this is a real problem. The leash is attached in a wide variety of ways, but it is better to use the one that is considered the most famous and effective.

You can find out other options for fastening the leash from professional fishermen, if there are any among your friends, and if not, then just go to the fishing forum and ask for the necessary information.

But the most relevant way involves tying the line and the leash with insulation. This item is worn on the fishing line. Further, loops are made on the line so that the cambric is inside the loops. How to choose a fishing line for a float rod? Here you need to focus on the mass of fish. There are camouflage lines in blue and green. It is advisable to buy a stronger reel, since a weighty fish can be caught, which will cut off the entire tackle.

There are a wide variety of fish hooks available. Therefore, the fisherman can choose the most preferred option.... They may be different sizes and shapes. Again, it all depends on what size and what kind of fish the angler is going to catch. Let's say that a large hook is not suitable for catching small fish, since it cannot afford to swallow it.

Unlike Russian models, foreign ones are in great demand, they are of better quality and more efficient. Many anglers leave only good reviews about them.

To catch aggressive fish of medium or big size, it is necessary to select the appropriate size of the hooks. For fishing in a calm river, shallow hooks are the choice.

Attaching the hook to the line

The technology implies several options for tying hooks to a fishing line... Among all the methods, only one is needed that is effective and simple, which is suitable for beginners.

The hook should be tied to the line with a special fixation knot. To perform this action, it is necessary to pass the line through the carabiner so that several turns can be made. After that, the edge of the line is drawn into the carabiner, and then the entire knot is tightened, thus securing the hook.

Over the years, many fishing methods have been invented. Among all the methods, you can choose the most convenient and effective, but with good ingenuity, it will not be superfluous to develop your own personal tactics, which will always be successful. As mentioned earlier, it is better to go fishing with experienced fishermen, who will prompt and show you how to fish correctly.

Attention, only TODAY!

Summer fishing peaceful fish won many hearts. Fishing with a float rig is considered a classic, fishing of this type is carried out using two types of rods: Bolognese and flywheel. The first option along the entire length of the blank has flow rings and can be used as a tool for catching large fish. The second one does not have such, but the advantage lies in lightness and mobility.

The rod consists of a blank divided into segments. The fewer the number of sections, the lighter the weight of the fishing gear. The main criterion for quality, which also affects weight, is the material. Top Models are made from carbon fiber - a durable and ultra-light raw material, many manufacturers use fiberglass and composite (a hybrid obtained as a result of using several elements). One of the most famous is Mikado. Next parameter- length. First of all, the growth of a fishing rod depends on the place of fishing: if the brow is close to the shore, it is necessary to start fishing here, since underwater inhabitants prefer to stick to such irregularities of the bottom. An excellent solution would be a plug-in model, in which one or two elbows can be removed if necessary. As a rule, they are produced in lengths up to 11 m.

The advantages of swing fishing:

  • the minimum weight of the rod that even a child can handle;
  • instant replacement of equipment in the presence of ready-made assemblies;
  • rapid exploration of both coastal and distant fishing zones;
  • accurate and silent casting to a lured place;
  • functionality and a wide range of applications;
  • constant contact of the angler with the rod.

Fishing with a fly rod does not involve the use of reels. The line is attached behind special device- rod connector. It structurally resembles a small bushing that is glued into the whip (if no shock absorber is used) and has a hook for the loop. Ready-to-use leashes with different options It is convenient to store and transport shipments and rigs in a chain link; some anglers use small reels. In the event of a break, the assembly can be re-equipped in a matter of minutes. The diameter of the line depends on the size of the intended trophy and hook. Fishing rod floats are used sliding, with a long guide tube when fishing for small fish and a high antenna for long distance and deep places. Shot sinkers are placed along the entire length of the leash. Correct loading increases the sensitivity of the tackle and distributes the test weight of the float among themselves.

The simplest rig is to attach the leash directly to the connector, however, when hunting for a worthy trophy, a rubber shock absorber should be used. The element has different densities and stretching lengths, is capable of dampening the jerks of large fish, such as carp and grass carp, acting as a friction clutch.

Fishing in stagnant bodies of water is characteristically different from fishing in running waters. On the pond, the angler can use small weights that would be easily dragged off by the current on the river. The fly rod is used in both situations, only the rig is regulated. The thickness of the leash when fishing in the line is significantly reduced, since the fish is in direct contact with the line and feels rough. The installation can be equipped with an additional hook, so that different depths are caught by the same wire. The float is used in a sport class, with a dough of up to 2 g. It is attached with the help of tubes placed on the keel and a small ring built into the body.

The simplest fishing rod without rings known from childhood to every angler is a tackle famous for its lightness, accessibility and versatility. Probably, any boy must have fished with this simple tackle. And there are plenty of adult fishermen who have remained faithful to this fishing tool.

Such rods are used to catch mainly medium-sized peaceful fish in reservoirs with stagnant water or not. strong current... Fishing is mostly done from the shore, although you can also fish from a boat. Since such a tackle requires an almost constant standing position from the angler, fishing from a boat (especially a rubber one) is not entirely convenient. In addition, it is quite difficult to carry out an accurate casting while in a watercraft.

An equipped fishing rod, on which there are no pass rings, is called a swing rod by the method of casting the bait into the water. This tackle is suitable even for a novice angler.

The attractiveness of a fly rod is that fishing with it does not require special skills, expensive consumables and special conditions for fishing. Even a child can easily master the swing technique. That is why fishing with the use of "maha" is quite popular, especially among children and novice fishermen.

There are three main types of fishing rods without rings:
  1. Classic.
  2. Carp.
  3. Uleechnaya.

Carp fishing rods are the longest and heaviest: their length starts from 7 meters, and their weight starts from one and a half kilograms. This is a fishing rod for professionals, masters of their craft.

The drift rod is light and short, well suited for fishing in confined spaces close to the shore.

And finally, the classic fly rod has a length of 5 to 13 meters and is considered the most versatile tackle.

Fishing objects:
  • bleak;
  • crucian carp;
  • gudgeon;
  • medium-sized perch;
  • bastard;
  • silver bream;
  • carp;
  • roach and other fish species.

Rods can be telescopic or plug-in, but plug-in rods are rare. The plug is usually longer than 7 meters. "Telescopes" are considered more durable, although the material of manufacture is important here - fiberglass, composite or carbon. Carbon rods are the lightest and most durable.

During installation, the so-called blind equipment is used. This is such a rig, in which the line is attached to the rod "tightly", without the possibility of changing, for example, the length of the line.

For installation you will need:
  1. Rod.
  2. Connector for attaching a fishing line.
  3. The main line.
  4. Leader line.
  5. Sinkers.
  6. Float.
  7. Hooks.

Let's start with the connector as this is the main tool for attaching the line to the rod. The connector can be bought at the store, it has a penny price. To attach it to a fishing rod, you need to drop some waterproof glue on the tip of the whip, and then carefully put on the connector.

Many rods are already equipped with line connectors. You can tie the main line directly to this cord, or you can use the advice of experienced fishermen: thread the cord into a piece of cambric, and, if necessary, bend the cord to the whip and fasten the resulting loop with cambric.

Often there are cases when the tip of the whip breaks off while fishing together with the connector. Therefore, many anglers pull the end of the line through the connector and make a second attachment of the line to the whip using electrical tape or a line. This allows you to save equipment from loss in the event of a breakdown. In addition, you need to have a stock of connectors with you. Spare whips will also be useful, the quality of which needs to be paid special attention to.

Also, anglers make connectors on their own, making a loop of wire, fishing line, elastic band and fixing it at the tip of the whip with a harsh thread.

But the best option is a store-bought connector, because homemade connectors tend to reduce the sensitivity of the tackle. In addition, there is a risk of losing all rigging due to a badly tied eyelet.

Taking a leash line, we knit hooks. The size of the hooks depends on the fish you want to fish. Usually these are sizes 4-7 according to the Russian classification. The leash with a hook is tied to the main line with a strong clinch-type knot, without the use of carabiners and swivels, since the rig is required to be light, as inconspicuous as possible.

A float of suitable carrying capacity is installed on the main line. You should choose high quality floats with high sensitivity. The best are sports, drop-shaped.

Many anglers consider the traditional goose feather to be the best float option. A feather float is indeed quite sensitive, but has an extremely low carrying capacity, so a rig with its use is only suitable for short tackle tackle.

A loop is made at the free end of the main line and attached to the connector.

Then it is necessary to load the float by attaching shot weights to the fishing line. When selecting the weight of the leads, the rod test must be taken into account. We must not forget to do the so-called backup near the hook - a small pellet that serves as a weight for bait.

The length of the assembled rig should not exceed the length of the rod. It should be 30-40 cm shorter than the rod. Otherwise, it will be difficult to accurately cast and play fish. Also makes fishing difficult and too short a rig.

The prepared rig assembly must be wound on the reel for storage. The reel with ready-made equipment is easy to take with you on a fishing trip and on the spot to carry out a quick change of fishing rod equipment.

It is necessary to prepare several options for equipment in advance in order to quickly respond to changes in the situation on the reservoir.

The angler should know all the positive and negative qualities of his tackle. The fly rod also has its pros and cons.

The undoubted advantages include:
  • ease of tackle;
  • ease of assembly;
  • versatility;
  • mobility;
  • casting accuracy.

All these qualities allow you to have with you on the pond not only several reels with different rigs, but also several fishing rods that can be equipped in different ways.

Of the negative qualities of a swing rod, the following can be noted:
  • low strength;
  • impossibility of long distance casting;
  • the inability to fish at great depths.

This tackle is not intended for catching trophy fish - most likely, it simply will not stand it. It is practically impossible to fish with it in pools and pits, as well as at a considerable distance from the shore. But in all other respects it is a convenient, gambling tackle that brings pleasure from the fishing process.

Swing fishing, practiced by experienced fishermen, skillful use of the advantages of the tackle, correct installation, always bring success and the desired catch.

So, a swing rod allows you to successfully fish of various breeds and always have a ready-made working tackle at hand.

Even a child can handle a fishing rod 8 meters long, so we can say that this tackle is perfect for any age.

We need to equip it. The installation of the flywheel equipment includes the selection and fastening of the connector to the rod, the selection and installation of the fishing line to the connector itself, the selection of the float and its shipment, and the installation of a leash with a hook.

A fly rod is a rod without rings and a reel seat, as a result, a fixed-length blind rig is used for fly fishing ( the length of the rig is limited by the length of the rod). That is, if you have a blank 7 meters long, then we take a 6.5 m line (from the beginning of the line to the hook) and attach it to the tip of the rod using a connector, and we get that our working length will be 13.5 m (7 + 6.5).

If at the point of fishing you have a depth of 2 m, then the casting distance will be 11 m (we subtract 2 meters from the working length to a depth and another 0.5 meters so that we will not stand at the water's edge, but will be at a certain distance) ...

The advantage of this tackle is that each time we cast it, we will throw it exactly 11 m, and this is very important, because thanks to such casting accuracy, we will be able to get clearly into the fed area, so that we can concentrate the bait at one point without spraying over a large radius, as a result, the fish in this place will take much bolder and more confident.

Choice of connector and shock absorber for mounting the fly rig

The connector is a kind of fastener that serves to attach the fishing line to the rod, thanks to it, you can quickly change the equipment. The connector is attached to the end of the blank. High-quality rods are often immediately equipped with connectors, for simpler rods you can buy them or make them yourself. The simplest version of a homemade connector is a copper wire folded in half and tied with a nylon thread to the tip of the rod, it is advisable to equip it with a carabiner, and soak the thread with glue.

Connector

When choosing a connector, you should pay attention to:

  • For the quality of its manufacture, it should not have joints on the alloy, sharp corners, deformation or other defects, since the fishing line is easily frayed at the joints or corners.
  • The material from which it is made. Basically, kenectors are metal or plastic. Metal connectors are stronger and more durable than plastic connectors.
  • You should not buy the cheapest, it is better to take it at a higher price (although they are all relatively inexpensive), since the former very often break down.
  • When buying, be sure to try on the connector to your rod, it should be clearly fixed on the tip of the rod.

Sometimes, instead of a connector, a rope tape or a rubber hat is used, and the latter stretches a little and serves as a kind of shock absorber, the fishing line is attached using a self-tightening loop.

Fly gear shock absorber

In cases when it is necessary to catch large fish, such as, you need to use a rubber shock absorber instead of a metal connector, to which the fishing line is attached. When a fish bites, it will stretch and extinguish its jerks. The rubber bumper fits inside the rod, so it should be hollow. True, some anglers instead rubber shock absorber insert a thin whip.

When installing it yourself, it is necessary to cut the whip in a place where its diameter will be sufficient for the shock absorber to pass. Although if you have an expensive rod, it is better not to break the whip, but specially pick up a new one in the store. At the end of the whip, a fluoroplastic bushing is inserted, along which the shock absorber slides (you can also put it on glue). There are external and internal bushings, if you have a thin tip, then the inner bushing will not work for you.

Installing the shock absorber

The shock absorber is attached at the beginning of the second or third bend using a collet plug or a reel cone. The line is attached to the shock absorber with the help of a connector. The elastic should be under slight tension, that is, stretched by 10-15% percent.

As a shock absorber, you can use an elastic band of the following thickness: for carp 1.8-2 mm, for bream, large crucian carp or small carp 1.4 mm, for smaller fish 1.0 mm. The length of the elastic will depend on which knee of the rod you will attach it to, so for smaller fish it is enough to fix it on the second, but for carp it is definitely the third knee.

Shipment of flywheel equipment

For proper installation of the flywheel equipment, it is necessary to spread the weights along the line, and not concentrate them at one point. So, if we take an olive weighing 4 grams. and the fish will swim up and decide to pull the habits, then it will immediately feel its weight and can spit out the hook, so that you will not even notice the bite.

Therefore, we need to spread the load, for this, at the bottom of the tackle near the hairstyle, we put a reserve of pellets weighing 0.1-0.2 grams. we use them to adjust the depth of immersion of the rig. In this case, the feed lies at the bottom and when the fish takes the bait, it pulls up a light feed and does not feel its weight, and at the same time the antenna of the float reacts sensitively to the bite and drops or rises from the water.

Installation of flywheel equipment involves the use of two or three partial breakdown of weights. The classic breakdown is when there is a supplement weighing 0.1-0.2 grams. and the main load, for floats weighing up to 2 grams. it is better to collect the main load from pellets. If we abandoned this tackle and see cautious timid bites, then we need to change something in the shipment. For example, you can take three pellets and raise them 15-20 cm higher, and leave one as an intermediate one. In this case, the tackle will sink more smoothly and slower to go to the bottom.

But if our cargo consisted of only one olive, we would not be able to change the installation. When the fish behaves too carefully, you can raise two pellets even higher by 10 centimeters. Now we have 3 intermediate weights, it is not recommended to break the tackle into a large number of intermediate weights, because it will be very confused.

The main secret of the installation of shipment of match equipment is that the goods must be carried at the same distance or go to increase closer to the paddle. For example, if there is a distance of 40 cm between the support and the first load, then we put the next load at a distance of 30 cm, after 20 cm.If you turn around, the tackle will not fly harmoniously when casting and will most likely get confused when it falls into the water. When the fish stands in the middle and upper layers of water, and even with the help of bait it was not possible to lure it to the bottom, then the weights must be spread as much as possible along the fishing line (Italian rigging), using such an installation of the swing rig, the nozzle will sink as slowly as possible, lingering in different layers water.

Floats used to mount flywheel rigs

Standard floats are drop-shaped.

For fishing on the current, a reverse drop float is used. The advantage of this float is that its main carrying capacity is at the top, so it is not thrown out of the water every time the weight touches or falls to the bottom due to uneven ground.

There are universal floats, in which, having removed the cambric, you can pull out the antenna, turn it over and make the reverse of the drop and vice versa.

When fishing on waves and ripples, you need to use floats with the lowest possible center of gravity.

floats for swing

Floats differ in the keel: there are metal and carbon fiber. The metal keel is heavier and therefore better suited for fishing in the current, it sinks faster and stabilizes in the water due to its mass. Floats with a very thin keel should not be taken, they bend quickly.

There are also slender floats with a thin and long body.

Some advice on choosing floats depending on rod length:

  • For blanks up to 4 m long, it is worth using floats weighing up to 1.5 grams.
  • For rods of 5-6 m, the weight is from 1.5 to 4 grams.
  • For rods with a length of 7-8 m from 3 to 5 grams.
  • For rods with a length of 9-10 m from 4 to 8 grams.

But remember that, first of all, the float should be selected according to the fishing conditions, because it would be foolish to catch 2 grams with a float in a strong current. even if you have a short rod, or put an 8 gram float on a long one for catching bleak.

Fishing line, habits, hooks and other factors affecting the installation of the flywheel equipment

For swing fishing in standing water no thick fishing line is needed, a monk with a thickness of 0.12-0.14 mm is enough, if you are a beginner then you can take 0.16-0.18 mm, since we will rarely catch fish weighing more than 2 kilograms at a stroke. The thinner the line, the less resistance it creates in the water and the faster it sinks to the bottom. Also, thin line is more sensitive and less alarming for fish. For fishing on large rivers with a strong current, where it is possible to catch specimens weighing up to 3 kg, you can use fishing lines with a diameter of 0.17-0.22 mm. In order not to lose the floats, it is necessary to use habits with a fishing line that is thinner than the main one, by at least 0.02 mm, in this case, if we have a hook on the hook, we can break off the habits, leaving the rest of the tackle intact. For example, you have a main line of 0.12 mm, then a 0.1 mm habits will suit you, and you should not be afraid of too thin tackle, such a habits can easily withstand a fish weighing 1 kg. At match fishing an important role is played by the length of the leash, if you caught with a leash with a length of 30 cm and cut it off, and then cut off 25 cm by eye, then the bite may deteriorate and you will have to re-set the depth, so it is better to purchase a hairstyle in which you can store blank leashes.

Swivels are not used in swing fishing, the leash is attached to the line by mounting a loop into a loop.

If the bites are delicate (the fish bit the tackle and threw it away) and we do not have time to react to them, then our habits are short. For example, if our habits are 20 cm, then we need to increase it to 35 cm.

If during the bite we do not have time to really hook, and the fish is already on the hook, then we need to reduce the length of the hairstyle, the fish has too much freedom, it took the bait in its mouth, and the feed is too far away, and we do not see the bite. In this case, in order to check, so as not to bandage the habits at once, you can simply move the habits along the habits closer to the hook and, noticing the improvements, change the length of the habits.

For fishing with swinging tackle in stagnant water, you should not use large ones, but on the current you can take hooks and a little larger.
