Pavel Rozhkov, First Vice-President - Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Russian Paralympic Committee, told the All Sport Sport Information Agency about this.

In the crowd of people who flew in on Friday morning in Irkutsk from Vnukovo airport, see Alexey Labzin, two-time London 2012 Paralympic running champion, succeeded immediately. And not only in command form Russian Olympic team but also by high growth, physique, flying gait. The name of our fellow countryman has thundered all over the world for the second time. It's all his fault sports achivments... In the past Summer Games in Beijing, he became a two-time silver medalist in athletics, and in London, a two-time Paralympic champion and a silver medalist. First in life gold medal he took at an unusual distance for him - 400 m.

I have always run 100 and 200 meters (it is in these disciplines that Alexei has the Peking silver. - Approx. ed.), - says Alexey. - We consulted with the coach in Ufa, I tried to run 400 meters. Overcame them in a pretty good time - we decided to prepare. As it turned out, not in vain! This was probably the most difficult victory for me.

Alexey is obviously being a little cunning. After all, after the gold medal at a distance of 400 m there was a relay race of 4 x 100 m. Our compatriot was again ahead of the rest. Victory again, and then silver. His Siberian won in the 200 m race.

How did you manage it? - we asked a question to our hero.

During the competition, I tried not to travel outside Olympic Village, focused only on his performances, - he replied. - I wasn’t even at the opening of the Games in London - I was saving my energy.

The atmosphere in the Russian House, according to the 33-year-old athlete, was wonderful.

There is no general regime, says the Siberian. - Everyone lives according to their own schedule. The menu is designed for almost all countries. The dishes were probably from 10 different cuisines of the world: European, Chinese, African - in short, choose what you like.

The athlete says that the London Paralympics is not just a world-class tournament. This is a holiday of sports, which the British love, perhaps even more than the Olympics itself. There were no empty seats at all at the stadiums. But not only the spectators in the stands held their fists for our fellow countryman. His most important fans are his mother and sister, who live in the village of Vidim, Irkutsk Region. Wife and two sons moved to Ufa... V Bashkortostan the Labzin family moved after the death of Aleksey's Irkutsk mentor, Vladimir Protasov.

The broadcasts went on TV late in the evening, so I slept and did not watch them, ”Labzin's youngest son Grisha admitted. - After only I saw it in the diaries, and my mother reported all the news. I will also be an athlete, I will sign up for hockey.

The labzins will not stay in the region for long. Next week Alexey will go to his native Vidim. There he plans to visit his high school, talk to the children, let them hold medals in their hands and answer all their questions. In addition, just in time for his arrival in the village they plan to hold a "Cross of Nations" so that the runners will receive prizes from the hands of the Paralympic champion.

) - athlete-athlete, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, championParalympics in Londonin the 400 meter race, two-time silver medalist at the Beijing Paralympic Gamesathletics... In his track record- ten victories in the Russian championship, two- at the world championship, European cup.

Alexey Labzin: biographical information

Aged four years Alexey suffered an injury, having lost an eye. He himself knows that unfortunate story only from the words of eyewitnesses and does not really like to talk about it. In short, one of the relatives was chopping wood and did not notice, apparently, how little Alyosha ended up in the "line of fire" ... As a result, the little boy was left without one eye. There were also problems with the second, but the doctors managed to partially preserve their vision.

Despite serious injuries and disability, received at an early age, Alexei was no different from his peers in childhood. He also ran down the street, played naughty, studied in an ordinary school. Then he went with his cousin to conquer Irkutsk. We entered ISKhI, but for certain reasons the institute was abandoned. Then, as he himself admits, for three years he lived at random and worked wherever he could: he unloaded the carriages, guarded something. The wild life ended when he moved to and got a job - first again as a watchman, then as a loader. In 2002 he got married and a son was born.

Then the sport was in high esteem. He played for the teams of the plant, district and region. Alexey began to seriously engage in sports very late, he came to the honored coach of Russia Vladimir Protasov when he was already 26 years old. The tests carried out showed that the guy is very gifted. Yet time was lost. However, the young man turned out to be, as they say, with character. He absorbed all the recommendations of the mentor like a sponge. Yes, and in training worked up to the seventh sweat. This despite the fact that for each lesson he had to travel from, after a grueling shift, to where he worked as a loader.

At first, the coach did not load Alexey Labzin with physics. We worked on flexibility, laid down the technique, did coordination exercises very important for the visually impaired.

He showed the first serious results already six months after the start of classes - he ran a hundred-meter distance almost in the 1st category in healthy athletes - 11.2 on a hand-held stopwatch. It was then that it became clear that the guy has a great future. In 2006, due to organizational troubles (they did not have time to prepare a document on joining the society of the blind), he played outside the competition at the Russian Championship. He won both distances in which he started: 100 and 200 meters. In 2007, at the Russian Winter Championship, he set a country's record for athletes in his category - 60 meters in 6.9 seconds.

Then on summer championship took gold in all sprint types of the program. Moreover, he showed such high results (100 meters - 10.7) that doubts about his place in the national team, which was supposed to go to World games disabled people in Brazil, no one even had a problem. A voyage to the South American continent was the first trip abroad by a native of the Siberian hinterland. By the decision of the coaches of the national team, Alexei had to perform in four types of the program at once. A result of 11.08 (by email) earned him his first gold medal and his first ticket to the Paralympic Games. A day later, the story of the first day of the competition repeated itself - now at the 200m. And again everything went well. The double final on the final day of the championship again brings Alexei the fourth place in the race with sprinter Andrey Koptev and the first place in the individual (22.21).

After the Brazilian championship, Labzin managed to appear in Europe - on Open Championship In Finland, he won the 100 and 400 meters.

At the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, Alexey Labzin won a silver medal in the 200m race in the T13 category with a score of 21.87.

At the Paralympics in London on September 3, 2012, Alexey Labzin won the gold medal in the 400m race. Alexey Labzin finished in 48.59 seconds, setting the Paralympics record. Another Russian Alexander Zverev became the second with a result of 48.83. Bronze went to Moroccan Mohamed Amgun, who finished in 49.45 seconds. Now Alexey Labzin represents Bashkiria, since several years ago he moved with his family to Ufa.
