Aged four years Alexey suffered an injury, having lost an eye. He himself knows that unfortunate story only from the words of eyewitnesses and does not really like to talk about it. In short, one of the relatives was chopping wood and did not notice, apparently, how little Alyosha ended up in the "line of fire" ... As a result, the little boy was left without one eye. There were also problems with the second, but the doctors managed to partially preserve their vision.

Despite serious injuries and disability, received at an early age, Alexei was no different from his peers in childhood. He also ran down the street, played naughty, studied in an ordinary school. Then he went with his cousin to conquer Irkutsk. We entered ISKhI, but for certain reasons the institute was abandoned. Then, as he himself admits, for three years he lived at random and worked wherever he could: he unloaded the carriages, guarded something. The wild life ended when he moved to and got a job - first again as a watchman, then as a loader. In 2002 he got married and a son was born.

Then the sport was in high esteem. He played for the teams of the plant, district and region. Alexey began to seriously engage in sports very late, he came to the honored coach of Russia Vladimir Protasov when he was already 26 years old. The tests carried out showed that the guy is very gifted. Yet time was lost. However, the young man turned out to be, as they say, with character. He absorbed all the recommendations of the mentor like a sponge. Yes, and in training worked up to the seventh sweat. This despite the fact that for each lesson he had to travel from, after a grueling shift, to where he worked as a loader.

At first, the coach did not load Alexey Labzin with physics. We worked on flexibility, laid down the technique, did coordination exercises very important for the visually impaired.

He showed the first serious results already six months after the start of classes - he ran a hundred-meter distance almost in the 1st category in healthy athletes - 11.2 on a hand-held stopwatch. It was then that it became clear that the guy has a great future. In 2006, due to organizational troubles (they did not have time to prepare a document on joining the society of the blind), he played outside the competition at the Russian Championship. He won both distances in which he started: 100 and 200 meters. In 2007, at the Russian Winter Championship, he set a country's record for athletes in his category - 60 meters in 6.9 seconds.

Then on summer championship took gold in all sprint types of the program. Moreover, he showed such high results (100 meters - 10.7) that doubts about his place in the national team, which was supposed to go to World games disabled people in Brazil, no one even had a problem. A voyage to the South American continent was the first trip abroad by a native of the Siberian hinterland.
