Balancer when it is better to fish with this bait. Fishing on a balancer in winter

V winter time among fishermen such bait as a balancer is very popular. It is very often used for catching a predator in winter.

I must say that this thing is very common in stores. You can see models of completely different colors, as well as shapes. A wide variety of lures allows anglers to achieve the desired result.

What is a balancer?

History

This tackle was invented a long time ago. The balance wheel got its unusual name due to the fact that the model always keeps balance during the game.

At first, some fishermen did such things from improvised means, various pieces of wood and other unnecessary garbage. Despite the fact that the models were far from high-quality, they were quite catchy and helped poor families to get food for themselves.

In the first balancers there was no lower hook, there were only two single hooks at the ends. Such a scheme, of course, was catchy, but the fish came off too often, so later they began to attach one tee to the lower part. Also, the first models had a less developed game, so the fisherman had to actively work with a rod.

Description

This type of bait is made in the form of a small fish, the length of this fish can be completely different. There are single hooks in the front and back, which perfectly help to hook the fish if it tries to attack from the side.

There is also a triple hook that is attached under the belly. This location was chosen due to the fact that this point accounts for most of the bites.

Also, various beads, cambric, are often attached to the fore-end of the balancer, and they always have a very bright color. Small bright elements help to further attract the attention of predatory fish. This tackle also has a small tail.

It can have various shapes and colors. Tail, performs pretty important role... When guided, it helps the body to stabilize, which helps to make the game more natural. You can also find models whose tail is covered with a fluffy, red bundle of fibers. It attracts a predator just as well.

How to catch more fish?

In my 13 years of active fishing, I have found many ways to improve my bite. And here are the most effective ones:
  1. Bite activator. Attracts fish in cold and warm water with the help of pheromones and stimulates their appetite. Pity that Rosprirodnadzor wants to ban its sale.
  2. More sensitive gear. Read the appropriate guides for your specific tackle type on the pages of my site.
  3. Baits based on pheromones.
You can get the rest of the secrets of successful fishing for free by reading my other materials on the site.

Peculiarities

The main feature of the balancer is that it is caught exclusively in a plumb line. In this case, the game is played in a vertical plane.

It is also worth noting that the balancer never turns over in the water, but always maintains its horizontal position, when navigating, it makes slight swaying from side to side. The amplitude of the game can be different, it strongly depends on the shape of the model, as well as on its weight.

The more weight, the more active the wiring will be, since the heavier balancer goes to the bottom much faster. Of the minuses, it can be noted that the side single hooks are quite fragile and brittle.

When caught large fish, they can easily bend or even break. Therefore, when buying, it is worth great attention give this moment. You should also not buy cheap options, since they are most likely not made of high quality.

What kind of fish do we catch?

For this bait, fishermen most often only catch predatory fish... The perch responds well, and often even of a very decent size. Perch prefers bright, multi-colored options more.

Of course, this rig is used to catch pike, both small and large. The pike is quite omnivorous, it bites perfectly on models of various colors, so it is very difficult to predict that the pike will be a priority today. We can safely say only one thing, the pike loves mainly options with a length of 5 centimeters or more. It does not respond so well to smaller models.

Also, do not forget about such fish as pike perch. He also actively attacks the balancer. Various baits can be used on zander, there are practically no special criteria for choosing, the best option in a given situation is found out by trial and error.

When is the balancer most effective?

It is quite difficult to answer exactly this question, since fishermen successfully fish with this bait throughout the winter, and also some fishermen like to fish with a balancer in the summer from a boat.

How effective the balancer will be is determined not by what month or what time of the year they are going to fish on it, but by how active the fish itself will be. Therefore, you can safely catch it whenever you want.

How to choose a balancer?

The size

In most cases, this parameter is determined by what kind of fish you want to catch. If, for example, you plan to fish such a fish as perch, then you should choose not very large specimens, since the large size can scare off the perch.

If the purpose of fishing is a larger fish, then you can safely experiment with the size. The largest fish will not always bite on the largest bait, this is a big delusion. A large specimen can also respond to a fairly small balancer.

The form

The selection of molds in fishing shops is getting bigger and bigger. In fact, there is no universal form that would suit all conditions at once. You will have to buy several different options, and then test them, only then can you single out some favorite for yourself.

Only by trying new and new baits, you will be able to collect your arsenal of the best balancers, with the help of which you can achieve the desired results.

Colour

The variety of colors is also great. Brighter colors are great for turbid water, as they will stand out a little, thereby attracting fish. Darker models can be used on bodies of water with a rocky bottom.

Dark lures will look the most realistic under such conditions, which will not arouse any suspicion in the fish. It is best to purchase several different balancers at once, which will be painted in different colors. If suddenly a predator does not want to respond to one balancer, you can always replace it with another.

Price

The price for such a pleasure is quite reasonable. For an inexpensive Chinese version, which will be quite well assembled, and will also have a good game, you will have to pay about from 350 to 700 rubles... For catchy bait it's not that much.

If you want to purchase a more expensive version, which will be made by some famous brand, then you can safely prepare for its purchase from 800 to 3000 rubles. Such a balancer would be very good. It will also be very well assembled, high-quality, expensive hooks will be installed in it, which will not let you down.

Tackle for balancer

This lure requires a fairly clear and informative control, therefore rods with a rigid rod are often used for such fishing. Such a fishing rod will allow you to make very clear postings, as well as help to make sharp sweeps.

It is also worth saying that a rigid fishing rod is much more convenient when playing large specimens, you will always have clear control over the prey. The reel can be used as a regular or a spinning reel. Since the line does not wear out often, the point in large and powerful reels disappears.

Winter bait fishing

The main thing in this kind of fishing is, of course, the wiring. The final result will depend on it. The more correct the wiring, the more realistic the balancer will look, which means there are more chances of catching the trophy.

Also, do not forget that you need to constantly look for fish, and not wait for it in one place. If after ten minutes you have not received a single bite from the hole, you should change your location. In one fishing trip, you can sometimes drill more than fifty holes. With this tactic, the chance of catching the desired predator is high enough.

Common mistakes when fishing with a balancer

Very often, novice anglers choose low-quality lines and lines, which leads to breakage at the most inopportune moment. You should not buy cheap lines, as they quickly deteriorate in a bad condition. Also, low-quality fishing line has a good memory, which is very bad. She will constantly curl, thereby interfering with the process.

Also, beginners often do not tie a leash when fishing with a balancer, this is a gross mistake, since the predator has very sharp teeth, with the help of which it perfectly rubs the main line or even the cord. If you do not install the leash, you risk losing not only the catch, but also the bait.

Balance fishing reviews

I started to catch this method quite recently. I must say, I liked it very much. If you have not tried this type of fishing yet, be sure to try it, you will be satisfied.

Anatoly Gavriilov

It's too boring to fish in the winter with only one girder, so I decided to try fishing with a balancer. A very effective method.

Currently, all winter fishing lovers in our country can be divided into two main categories: those who prefer to fish with a jig, and fans of winter bait.

Although, of course, there are many fans of fishing with girders or with winter float equipment. Fishing with a balancer in winter is an exciting activity and a reliable way to catch predatory fish.

What is a balancer

Balancer is a bait intended for fishing in a plumb line from ice or from a boat, which imitates the behavior of a small fish and attracts a predator with its play. The feature of the balancer is that it occupies a horizontal position in the water, and during a pause during posting, it writes out "eights" of a certain radius.

Design

The balancer is made of metal alloys. As a rule, the front and back of the lure are equipped with single hooks, and a tee is freely suspended on the underside of the balancer. On the back of the balancer there is a tail unit, which provides the bait with a unique play. On the back of the lure there is a ring for attaching a fishing line.

Pros and cons of using bait

Like any other bait, balancers have inherent advantages and disadvantages.

The advantages of fishing with balance beams are as follows:

  • Catchability of baits;
  • the opportunity to fish on different types predatory fish;
  • the possibility of using the balancer as a search bait, since it has a large deviation from the vertical axis and is better visible to fish;
  • the ability to use for winter and summer fishing;
  • the ability to catch passive fish in poor bite conditions;
  • ease of mastering the method of fishing with balance weights;
  • wide range of sizes and colors of balancers.

Among the disadvantages of fishing with balance beams are the following:

  • When playing fish, one of the hooks of the balance bar often clings to the edge of the hole, which leads to the descent of prey. Some anglers even bite off the front and back hooks of the bait with wire cutters to avoid falling off;
  • when fishing at high speed, it takes a lot of time to extract the triple hook from the mouth of the prey. Usually, when a "distribution" occurs, i.e. active bite, the fish absolutely does not care what to bite on, and in such a situation it is better to fish with vertical winter spoons, mainly with "soldering";
  • comparative fragility of balancers. With active fishing, the tails of the baits can break off and paint peel off. This is difficult to avoid, but at least store the balancers carefully so that they do not bump against each other in the fishing boxes.

What kind of fish can you catch

The main prey when fishing with a balancer is the three most common predators in our regions, namely:

  1. Perch. For winter lure of perch, the balancer is often bait number 1, competing only with winter baubles... Sometimes the perch bites better on balancers, and sometimes on spoons.
  2. Zander. Pike perch also willingly bites on balancers, sometimes preferring spinners, and sometimes VIBs or rattlins, which have recently become fashionable.
  3. Pike. Often, pike fishing with balance beams can be more productive than fishing with girders.

From time to time, other representatives of the domestic ichthyofauna also come across the balancers: bream, roach, dace, but it makes no sense to purposefully catch them in winter in this way.

Differences between summer and winter fishing

The main difference between fishing with a balance beam at different times of the year is that in winter the wind is not a factor affecting fishing, i.e. no matter how strong the wind, the fishing spot remains unchanged, while in summer even an anchored boat can swing from side to side.

On the other hand, in the summer you can successfully fish in the current by rafting, and at the same time the bait will always hang vertically. For fishing in the wind by rafting, a water anchor or a parachute is used, which slows down the movement of the boat. In addition, when fishing from a watercraft, even with low sides, the rod should have long length than on ice fishing, and the presence of a coil is required.

How to choose

When choosing a balancer, the angler should take into account the following points:

  • What kind of fish will be caught;
  • the size of the expected production;
  • fishing conditions: presence or absence of current;
  • winter period: the first ice or deep winter;
  • predator preferences in a particular body of water.

With regard to the species of predator, the following recommendations can be given, which are also suitable for novice anglers.

Perch

For perch fishing use small and medium-sized balancers... How to determine their length? Striped robbers living in small lakes, ponds and quarries rarely reach trophy sizes, usually their weight does not exceed 150 grams, and the length of balancers for catching such fish usually ranges from 20 to 50 mm. The tackle can be used not the most powerful, the diameter of the line is from 0.12 to 0.2 mm (depending on the weight of the bait). It is advisable to replace the usual tee on the "belly" of the bait with one with a bright "drop" - it will serve as a "point of attack".

Having decided on the size, you should pay attention to the colors of the balancer. There is a little secret bait color "perch" almost always works well, since the striped robber does not disdain his relatives. Other traditional recommendations: cloudy weather and great depth - bright and fluorescent colors; sun and shallow water fishing are natural colored lures.

Small pike and pike

Pike weighing more than 500 grams and 700-gram pike perch are considered allowed for fishing, since fish of this size can already be caught in accordance with the Fishing Rules. But nevertheless, this is far from a trophy fish and it prefers not the largest baits. To a greater extent, this applies to zander: the smaller the size of the predator, the smaller the size of the bait.

The pike is known to attack prey up to 1/3 of its own size. Therefore, when fishing for zander, balancers with a length of 50-70 mm are used, and when fishing for pike, you can fish with lures of any size, mainly guided by the fishing conditions and preferences of the predator in a particular reservoir.

Important! The pike perch prefers balance beams with a red tail. The tee of the bait must be equipped with cambric or bear a multicolored drop. When fishing for pike, this is not so important.

If the angler is aimed at catching pike and zander of any size, tees on the balancers are almost always changed to larger and more powerful ones.

The color of the bait depends on the weather conditions, the depth at the place of fishing and some other factors.

Large pike and walleye

For fishing large pike, balancers are used up to 12 cm in size. For large pike-perch, fishing with lures 70-90 mm long (according to Rapala classification) or 80 mm (according to Nils Master classification). The size of Rapal balancers, as well as balancers from other manufacturers, implies the body length of the bait without hooks, and Niels Master measures the length of the bait together with the front and rear hooks.

To catch large fish, the tackle must be powerful and reliable; pike fishing involves the use of metal leads made of soft leash material.

Fishing tactics and technique

Perch

The tactics of fishing for perch on a balancer on small bodies of water involves search for promising predator sites... Such places can be various irregularities of the bottom, thickets of underwater grass, flooded scabs, etc. They begin to search for fish from the coast, gradually moving to a depth. After catching the first specimen, you should fish the area around the catch hole, determining the localization of the fish. If there are no bites, the search continues.

On large bodies of water, the tactic is to search for perch flocks.

The search for schooling perch in large bodies of water is successful if the angler performs the following actions:

  • Searches for fish according to preliminary information received from other anglers;
  • conducts a search, guided by his knowledge of the characteristics of the behavior of perch in a given reservoir;
  • observes the movements of other anglers and their behavior.

The technique of catching perch of any size has a basic component and individual nuances, which are also useful to know. Fishing for perch includes the following steps:

  1. The balance bar is lowered to the bottom and hit several times on the bottom in order to create sound vibrations and form a cloud of turbidity.
  2. Swing the tip of the fishing rod 30-50 cm.
  3. Reset to the starting point.
  4. Pause for a certain length.
  5. The operation is repeated several times.
  6. They perform the same actions not at the bottom, but half a meter higher. You can fish while standing, or you can reel in a certain amount of line.
  7. Having raised the bait to a certain level, they successively lower it to the bottom.
  8. In the absence of bites, change the place.

Nuances when fishing with a balancer consist in changing the duration of the pause, which can be the main component of the posting. You can catch almost without a pause, or you can stretch it up to one minute: both can be productive under certain conditions. Another trick when fishing with a balance bar is to give the bait additional movements, which are performed by fine twitching with the tip of the rod.

In general, playing with a balancer when fishing for perch implies frequent and sharp swings and small pauses.

Pike

The tactics of fishing for pike on a balancer assumes that the angler knows the reservoir well at least from summer fishing. The pike hunts from an ambush, which can be submerged driftwood and thickets of grass. In some reservoirs, the predator should be looked for on various irregularities in the bottom relief.: banks, dumps, pits. Sometimes the pike goes out for watering and you need to catch it there.

You need to play with a balancer when fishing for pike more smoothly, and make the pauses longer.

Zander

Pike perch, like perch, prefers to lead a gregarious lifestyle, and the tactics of finding him are similar to... We should not forget about snags, in which the fanged predator loves to hunt. When fishing for pike perch, as well as perch, a winter echo sounder can be of great help. The device will show the horizon on which the predator rests and how it reacts to the bait.

Correct play with the balance bar when fishing for walleye should be smoother than when hunting for perch, and the pauses should be longer.

Attention! You should never neglect half-water fishing. Zander is the least inclined to leave the bottom layer, while perch sometimes bite well directly under the ice.

Perch fishermen recent times increased, and all because of the excitement and excitement of the fishing process. Modern stores offer many varieties of perch bait, many of which are really catchy. One of the varieties is a balancer. Fishing perch from a boat to a balancer, as well as winter fishing, is often successful due to the active play of the bait. The bait begins to actively move in the water column, which attracts a predator with any mood.

What is a perch balancer?

A balancer is a lure of artificial origin, adapted for sheer fishing predator. It has always been used when fishing for deep-sea predatory fish species, including perch. Numerous lures of the group are streamlined and made of metal. In the tail area there are rigid protruding blades designed to stabilize the game in the water. On both sides of the nozzle, there are single hooks pointing up. Additionally, at the bottom there is a loop for attaching a tee, and on the back there is a connecting ring with a tackle.

Fishing for perch on a balance beam on the river is often performed using bait with an edge - plumage, hair or other decorative elements are attached in the tail part, developing in the water and stabilizing the game. Like wobblers for perch, balancers can be made of silicone. Today, it is the silicone varieties that are more common.

Artificial bait is called a balancer

We can expect to catch the striped fish on the balancer when setting the tackle from the ice. In the warm season, fishing at great depths is also possible and often effective, but you will need a swimming device or take a position on a hydraulic structure. Balancers work well for pike, zander and other common predators, but perch is still the most frequent catch, and peaceful fish are extremely rare.

Features of the choice of a balancer for fishing perch

In winter, it is possible to get the coveted trophy only when correct selection bait and fishing area.

When choosing, it is important to pay attention to several important characteristics:

  • the size. When fishing for a well-fed perch, it is advisable to install baits with a size of 6 cm, but trophy individuals are not found in all reservoirs. On small perches, a 3-4 cm nozzle is often placed. The average and best balancers - 4-5 cm, are able to attract the attention of medium and trophy individuals. In a particular reservoir, fish preferences may differ, large perches often peck at small lures 2-3 cm.To catch an active predator, you should not put too small baits, otherwise a lot of unwanted by-catch will appear: small perch, ruff. It is better to reduce the nozzle during biteless;
  • the form. There is no single opinion regarding the predilection of the perch, the fishermen were divided into two garrisons. Some argue that narrow-bodied baits are aimed at zander, and perch reluctantly goes to them. A large part of the anglers show nice results with lures of a projected body shape. Apparently, the perch is not too picky and attacks any bait that successfully imitates fry;
  • Colour. Perch perchs argue here too, each defends and names his favorite colors. The color of the bait plays an important, but not a key role when choosing a balancer. The perch is often hooked during the installation of neutral colors, reminiscent of a live fish in a pond. If the fish is active, it goes well for acid colors: red, orange, yellow, etc.

Only with the right choice of bait, it is possible to get the desired trophy.

What is the best balancer for catching perch?

Despite the large assortment of baits on the domestic market, not all of them are equally catchy. There are the best rockers for perch fishing that have proven to be effective in perch fishing.

Top 3 balancers:

  1. Classic by Lucky John. Fishing for perch on the Lucky John balancer often brings bites from predators of various sizes. The bait is especially popular in winter. Often they catch trophy specimens with her. The most popular colors in the line are 13H and 15H.
  2. Jigger by Nils Master. It has its own fans among perch coops, testifying to the high catchability of the bait. It has a classic shape and interesting colors: blue with silver and a mixture of poisonous colors (yellow, green and red). It is equipped with an extended tee, but fishermen often replace it with standard ones themselves.
  3. Mountain-Sea PR # 7. Fishing for perch on the "Mountain-Sea" balancer is a pleasure, the fish attacks the bait quickly and briskly. The most catchy is the model with a blue back and a red belly.

Selection of tackle for fishing on a balancer

Often, perch fishing with microjig is opposed to balance fishing, but it makes no sense to compare both tactics, because microjig is distinguished by its catchability in open water, it is mainly used during coastal fishing, and balancers are better to take in winter when fishing from ice. Almost all the elements of the tackle are different in the listed methods of fishing, the only thing in common is a large and abundant catch.

Selection of tackle for fishing on a balancer

Fishing of a reservoir with balancers is easier to carry out in combination with the following tackle:

  • fishing rod. The rod should be lightweight with a comfortable grip. Lightweight models prevent hand fatigue during long fishing. If the handle is made of cork, hands will freeze less. It is better to use models with a length of 30-35 cm with medium and high rigidity;
  • coil. The simplest will do inertial coil... Cheap plastic spools will do, because the perch is not very strong and is not capable of damaging the tackle. Strong gear is expensive and weighs a lot, making it impractical to use it. With good inertia reels and spinning coils, wiring is easier and more convenient;
  • fishing line. A regular monofile with a diameter of 0.15 ± 0.03 mm is suitable for a perch. The specific section of the line must be chosen based on the size of the fish in the reservoir. The amount of line on the spool should be about 50 m, so that there is a reserve in case of difficult fishing for a trophy.

Where and when can you use the balancer when fishing for perch?

Ice fishing for perch on a balancer is undemanding to the choice of a fishing spot; reservoirs with calm and fast-flowing water are suitable. As well as fishing for perch on a noodle, balance fishing is universal during winter hunting for a predator. Balancers show themselves better at a depth of 0.2 m to 8 m. There are models adapted for fishing in shallow water, and there are also deep-water lures.

A promising place for catching fish on a balancer is often an area covered with pebbles, stones or sand, where there are no various underwater obstacles. Perch loves snags and other shelters, but wiring in such places is difficult and there is a high probability of tackle breakage. On a clean bottom, it is easier to animate the bait, and the game turns out to be more sweeping. Some lures are capable of scouring the water within a radius of a meter.

The most effective actions are at points of guidance with strong differences in depth: braids, curbs, exits from holes.

Specificity of catching perch on a balancer

It is important to understand how to correctly play with a balancer when fishing for perch, because in case of inaccurate or incorrect movements, it is better not to count on the bite.

We can carry out the wiring in several ways:

  • an effective method in bitelessness. We lower the nozzle to the bottom and raise it with the tip of the fishing rod. Movements should be smooth with gradual acceleration. A distinctive feature of the wiring is a large range of motion - raise the rod by about 1 m. With smooth movements, we lower the bait to the bottom again. It is better to ensure that the bait wiggles during the lowering with the help of the movement of the brush. At the top point of the amplitude, we make a kind of shaking of the bait;
  • the most popular is the movement system. At the first touch of the bottom with the balance bar, we make a sharp, jerky movement, raising the rod by 30 cm. We immediately return the rod to its original position and pause for 3-5 seconds. If there is no result, we try to raise the bait a little higher (by 10 cm);
  • gradual lifting of the balancer. We perform the swing of the rod and do not lower it. We make an interval of about 5 seconds between jerks, at this time we lower the fishing rod and pick up the slack in the fishing line, ensuring the bait freezes. Consecutive jerks are performed to a height of about 15-20 cm. We raise the bait directly near the ice, where the perch can hunt in the spring;
  • tee game. Often the perch is interested in the position and movement of the tee. To ensure an interesting hook play, we do swinging and short jerks of the balance bar. Excellent results are shown by the simultaneous animation of the bait and the tee: a sharp jerk and frequent hand vibrations, similar to actions at the moment of lowering the bait.

It is better not to count on biting if the balance bar is inaccurate or incorrectly moved.

Tactics and technique of fishing a perch on a balancer

In a reservoir where there are not so many fish, finding a perch is a difficult task and no tactics or game of bait can lure a fish if its place of stay is far from the fisherman. The perch is unpredictable, it may not bite at all in case of a fast wind, changes in pressure, lighting, etc. In most cases, it is possible to provoke the fish to attack the bait with the right choice of place.

Important! Fishing for perch is not a sedentary type of fishing, as the predator is able to move and swim away from the place. To return home with your catch, you have to make about 10 holes and move between them, waiting for a bite in a few drives. If there is no reaction to the posting, the fisherman gets together and moves on.

The most popular tactic for catching perch on a balance bar is to make a distance of 10 m between the holes and go to catch them one by one or in random order.

Usually, about three minutes are given to check one hole or 5-10 postings are performed. The technique of catching perch on a balance beam with jerks is effective only for active prey, it makes sense to change the wiring periodically, if sudden movements were useless, we change them to smooth ones. Another way to activate the bite is to increase the duration of the lure's delay in one position. Sometimes the failure of a fisherman is due to the wrong fishing horizon. From time to time it is worth trying to fish near the surface of the water, where the predator is looking for food when spring approaches.

Many fishermen have their own secrets of catching perch on a balance beam, some willingly share their achievements and observations:

  • fishing a large perch on a balancer is an easy task, it is only important to find it. You should go to catch them in deep places, where there are a lot of shell rock, there are snags nearby. The largest number of trophies is in the encircled places;
  • if only a trifle comes across on the hook, it is worth installing a larger nozzle. Too large baits will also negatively affect the bite, but can lead to the capture of pike or pike perch, although the tackle rarely withstands large predators;
  • you should not be guided by flocks of perch, because they are almost always small individuals. Adults hunt and live separately, that is, you have to constantly move and look for individual individuals;
  • it is better to hunt large perches in deep water, because the fish feeds on small fish, and not fry;
  • it is better to look for trophy perches in vast and deep reservoirs, at small rates they rarely reach good sizes, but especially large individuals are found here.

Balancers are used in trophy fishing for perch. The bite is unpredictable here, a fisherman can catch a bag of fish in an hour or stand a day without seeing a decent bite. We have never returned from fishing to balancers empty-handed, and we wish you the same.

Fishing with a balancer in summer is an active type of fishing. In order for you to succeed, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the tips that we give in our article. Together we will analyze in different balancers and learn how to fish correctly with this bait. The article is designed for novice anglers, it will be useful for them. Find out more about this interesting tackle that you can fish in both summer and winter. At the right approach she will bring a big catch!

Fishing on a balancer in summer

It is worth admitting that fishing on a balancer in the summer and, for example, from a boat is quite an interesting and very gambling activity. This is explained by the fact that most of the species of fish that fishermen go to with the named tackle are predators. And when was fishing for predatory fish boring, passive and not interesting? Right! This has never happened. Pulling out predatory fish is an extremely demanding and stressful business. However, this fishing method has its advantages that cannot be compared with any other fishing method.

In our article today, we will discuss in detail fishing on a balancer in the summer. Specifically, we will answer the following questions:

  • What is a balancer?
  • What types of balancers are there?
  • How is fishing carried out?
  • How summer fishing different from winter?

Varieties of balancers

Although balancers are manufactured by a wide variety of companies, all models can be divided into 3 types.

  1. The first type is with plastic wings in the back;
  2. The second type is with a fur tassel, in the same place;
  3. The third type is silicone, which have been sold not so long ago.

The following varieties are also available:

  • Balance beams with classic triangular plumage. Fishing on a balancer in the summer from a boat will be more effective if you resort to using classic options that differ from each other only in shapes and proportions. The most important thing is the perfect balance, thanks to which our artificial fish can take a horizontal position, without significant deviations. These products may also differ in the shape of the mouth;
  • With a large head. The use of these models must be accompanied by a masterful control of the rod. If you make sudden movements, then the "fish" will behave unnaturally, which will scare away predators. Do not forget that the main task bait is to attract the attention of fish due to its natural "behavior";
  • Narrow-nosed or pike-perch. These varieties are used in winter and are very similar in properties to balancers, which have an enlarged head. In the depths of water, balancers make circular motion... The fisherman must carefully lower the rod so that the “fish” completes its maneuver without jerking;
  • Winter balancer with a fur tassel. For winter fishing, it is supplemented with a small fur tassel. A very popular variety, which is used more and more often nowadays, especially in the winter season.

How to catch with a balancer

In summer, when it is hot, it is necessary to look for fish in the shade of plants, because pike and perch are cold-loving creatures. Now we will discuss the question: how to fish on a balancer in the summer? The most effective places include small openings in dense vegetation. If spinning rods are used in these areas, the angler will ruin the tackle. Thanks to the balancer, you can fully explore and fish out every suitable "opening".

We recommend purchasing and operating compact and lightweight boats. This is due to the fact that the fish is extremely cautious in summer, which means that the angler must be careful and not particularly attract attention to himself. The best option is a two-seater rubber boat, of some unsightly color. Never use anchors, it is better to choose areas of water bodies where there is no current. Most effectively, fishing on a balancer in the summer will be carried out with a partner. One is fishing, the other is driving the boat.

Fishing technique: the bait is lowered, the bottom is tapped to it and a cloud of dust rises.

Naturally, summer fishing on the balancer differs from the winter one, since in winter there are peculiarities and nuances.

Now you know that the balancer was mistakenly considered a tackle only for winter fishing, it does an excellent job with the task at any time of the year!

Winter fishing Is one of the most exciting and affordable types of recreation in winter period... As soon as the first ice appears, immediately on the river or pond you can see people dressed in winter uniforms and with backpacks on their shoulders - these are fishermen. Most of them do not care whether he catches a fish or not, but the fact that they will relax after 5 days of everyday hustle and bustle is for sure. There are many lures in the arsenal of hobby anglers. Among them, you can find a balancer designed for catching predatory fish. The predator bites especially actively during the period of the appearance of the first ice: then it is simply irreplaceable.

During this period, on the balancer you can catch large perch and small pikes. The tackle consists of a fishing rod for winter fishing, equipped with a reel, with a line wound on it.

In order for fishing to be effective, the choice of the balancer should be taken very seriously. Not all specimens offered by the trading network are capable of luring fish. Most likely, many of them are cheap cereals that are not capable of believable play.

To choose this type of bait, many factors should be taken into account: Still water or current, small or large specimens, for pike or perch. Considering the fact that perch predominates in reservoirs (amateur fishermen, they mainly catch it), we can give several recommendations on choosing a balancer for fishing perch:

  • For successful fishing of medium and medium perch big size you can use balancers with a length of 3-4 cm.
  • As a rule, the weight of such balancers ranges from 4-6g.
  • Colors should be vibrant and natural, reminiscent of perch or bleak.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the quality of the hooks. With bad (blunt) hooks, you cannot count on effective fishing.

This does not mean at all that it is impossible to catch other predatory fish, for example, pike, with perch bait. The pike also loves bleak and small perch very much, and therefore it is very real to catch a pike on such a balancer.

The best balancers

For perch fishing, you can offer four of the most efficient balancers:

The choice of a balancer also depends on the nature of the reservoir and its size: it is better to use more massive models on large lakes, and smaller ones on small ones. At depths of up to 3 meters, 3 cm balancers can be used, and at depths over 3 meters - 4 cm. The effectiveness of all fishing will depend on how correctly the bait is selected.

Features of winter fishing

As mentioned above, winter fishing is an exciting activity that requires a lot of effort. You can choose a balancer, put it in a backpack along with a fishing rod and come to the pond with a feeling of complete satisfaction and the thought that all the fish will be yours. With the arrival at the reservoir, everything is just beginning.

In winter, perch, like all fish, behaves less actively, as it also eats less actively. To catch him, you need to find him, or rather, his parking place. In winter, it does not move long distances across the reservoir, but is concentrated somewhere in one area. That's why:

  • From one hole, it is unlikely that you will be able to catch at least some fish, although sometimes it can let you down. For greater reliability, you should drill from 10 to 20 holes in 5-7 steps from each other so that they cover both shallow water and depth. By constantly fishing hole after hole, you can hope for a catch.
  • V cold water the perch is not very active, so active bait play is not required.
  • The game of the bait is that it sinks to the bottom and slowly begins to rise from the bottom surface to a height of 20-30cm. Then a pause is made for a few seconds and the balance bar is raised, just as slowly, another 10-20 centimeters, after which a pause is made again. After the second pause, the bait sinks to the bottom and the process repeats. While moving up, you can make small swinging of the bait left-right.
  • While lowering the balancer to the bottom, you can make several hits of the bait on the bottom, which will undoubtedly cause the silt to rise from the bottom, which is very attractive for the perch. Then the game should be similar to the one described above.

It should be noted that the game can be highly individual and be the result of many years of experience. The main thing is that the game brings its results.

Possible mistakes

As a rule, beginner amateur anglers learn from mistakes. Of course, experience comes over time as a result of mistakes and their subsequent analysis. If you do not analyze them, then you can fish all your life with mistakes, do not catch a single fish. In order not to commit them, you should pay attention to the following features:

  • Predator fishing does not allow for thin line. The optimum diameter starts at 0.18mm and ends with any reasonable number, such as 0.22mm. This is due to the fact that it can take a trophy specimen, which will be problematic to fish out on a thin line.
  • When using a balancer, for the effectiveness of fishing, it is worth abandoning the leash, since it negatively affects the game of the bait. At the same time, there is a risk of losing the balance beam if a pike bites, but the perch is better caught on the bait without a leash.
  • To mount the balancer, you should use reliable knots that would not be able to untie while playing fish. Of course, this applies to large specimens that come across very rarely.

Alternatively, you can offer a Palomar knot or a “” knot or a Double clinch knot. How to tie such knots? Information about this can be found on the Internet and types of other knots, and how to knit them.

  • To protect the line from breaking or chafing, it is recommended to solder a copper ring to the bow of the balance bar. Due to the fact that copper is a soft metal, the burrs that appear as a result of wear are not dangerous for the line. You cannot refuse the gatehouse, which makes it possible to react in time to a bite. To keep your eyes from getting tired, you can attach a bright ball to the tip of the gatehouse.
