Chernousov won the Marchalonga. Why is it cool

Traditionally, a 70-kilometer cross-country race ends the ski sports season. It is usually held in the first ten days of April. Therefore, as spring approaches, the residents of Kandalaksha are looking forward to meeting their idols, anticipating the incomparable excitement of the ultramarathon race. If this topic is interesting to you, then often look at this page. Keep up to date!

He won the most prestigious ski marathon - the legendary race in Italy "Marchalonga". The Olympic champion in biathlon showed 77th result.

"Marchalonga". 70 km, classic style. Men. 1. CHERNOUSOV (Russia) - 2: 48.08.7. 2. Berdal (Norway) - 0.2 lag. 3. Pedersen (Norway) - 1.5 ... 7. VOKUEV (Russia) - 22.6 ... 27. STUPAK (Russia) - 1.41.9 ... 37. DEMENTIEV (Russia) - 4.48.2 ... 79. SHIPULIN (Russia) - 18.04.1 ... 118. TSVETKOV (Russia) - 23.25.2.

Natalia MARIANCHIK

"Marchalonga" for ski racing- it's like "Wimbledon" for tennis. Iconic tournament with long history, which in itself has become synonymous with tradition and prestige. For the first time the Italian race took place back in 1971. Its name translates as "march". Its length is 70 km - almost one and a half times more than Olympic distance 50 km. At the same time, the distance is held on a rather flat terrain and in a classic style, which allows even amateurs to successfully cope with it.

So that you understand the scale of the event: this year, only on the main distance "Marchalonga" (there is also a "light race" of 45 km), 4775 skiers finished (!). The oldest participant from Sweden Gunnar Olsson, this year will be 80 years old. At the same time, Mr. Olsson not only reached the end, but also showed quite a decent result - he was 3065th in the overall standings, that is, he left more than a thousand people behind. It took him 5 hours 55 minutes and 58 seconds to overcome 70 km.

CHERNOUSOV INTERRUPTED THE NORWEGIAN'S SERIES

As a rule, the victory on the "Marchalong" is won by professional skiers competing for marathon teams. There is a series of several Wordloppet marathons. A separate caste of athletes competes there, which does not always look even at the World Cup. It is easy to guess that when preparing for a 70 km race, there are specific features, and it is not always combined with a standard calendar.

Nevertheless, in different years at the "Marchalong" they won Olympic champions Norwegian Anders Oakland, representative of Austria Mikhail Botvinov or a subsequently disqualified Spanish Johann Muelegg. Chernousov became the first ever champion "Marchalonga" from Russia. Previously, only a representative could boast of a victory in this race. Soviet Union Ivan Garanin back in 1980 ( Chernousov then not even born yet).

It is noteworthy that winning the "Marchalonga" Chernousov playing for the Czech marathon team Lukasz Bauer, managed on the first try. Last year, he planned to run the race, even was present in the start list, but in the end he did not go the distance. Now Ilya, it seems, purposefully brought his form precisely to the Italian triumph. So, on January 13 and 20 Chernousov ran two amateur marathons in Switzerland and Austria 60-65 km long. So he finished both times in prizes, but did not win. After that, the Russian had a week to recover.

The main favorite this year was considered two-time champion Peace Norwegian Tour Asle Gjerdalen... He became the winner of "Marchalonga" three last times contract. On the final climb, four riders broke away from the main group, including Gjerdalen and Chernousov... Already at the home stretch Chernousov undertook a decisive acceleration, which brought him victory. Gjerdalen remained fourth, now his winning streak interrupted.

It is characteristic, by the way, that neither Ilya nor Gjerdalen were not included in their teams at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. In theory Chernousov could strengthen our team even now - he has the necessary FIS points for participation in the Games. However, Ilya did not take part in any qualifying competitions inside Russia, did not play at the World Cup and did not even get into the extended application of the team, which was sent to the International Olympic Committee(IOC). Accordingly, he did not receive an invitation from the IOC either.

SHIPULIN HAS BEEN IN THE FIRST HUNDRED

In addition to Chernousova, a very large number of Russians took part in "Marchalong" this year. Another of our compatriots Ermil Vokuev took seventh place and became the second in the standings (at the "Marchalong" he is taken into account in the category of 18-29 years). Biathlon World Champion Anton Shipulin became 77th, losing 18 minutes and 4 seconds to Chernousov. Another biathlete finished in 116th position, 23 minutes and 25 seconds from Chernousova.

To be fair, we emphasize that the biathletes ran in an unusual classic style. And the finish at the "Marchalong" within the first hundred is generally considered very prestigious and unattainable even for many professional skiers.

The winner of the Biathlon World Cup stage planned to run a marathon, but in the end did not go to the start. The best Russian woman here is the multiple former champion of the country. Victoria Melina who finished fifth. I won the victory Britta Norgren from Sweden.

Russian skier Ilya Chernousov won the classic 70 km marathon "Marchalong". Chernousov became the first Russian to win the traditional race, which has been held in Italy since 1971. In Soviet history, the 1980 marathon was won by the two-time bronze medalist of the 1976 Games Ivan Garanin. Russian biathletes Anton Shipulin and Maxim Tsvetkov also took part in this sporting event test for 70 km. Biathlete Olga Podchufarova in the race was declared, but did not start at the start, the reasons are not yet known.

For those who did not watch the race in live, we suggest doing it right now:

Lyuda, well, they also specialize in different distances. They have enough endurance.

Vyacheslav, everyone's pumped quadriceps hips. Is it good for running? I doubt.

Lyuda, I wouldn't say that. It should be borne in mind that the rowers are generally not frail guys.
gs.delfi.lt

Vyacheslav, purely visually, skiers 'legs still look more powerful than rowers'.
prokazan.ru
i58.fastpic.ru

Lyuda, are your legs weak? :)) In rowing without legs, you can't do a full stroke.

My friend Mikhail Ardakov, ex-member of the Russian national yacht rowing team, MSMK, European Champion, CCM in cross-country skiing.
site

Vyacheslav, curious. The rowers' shoulder girdle, back, abs are very developed, and the legs are not weak for cross-country skiing? Or at short distances enough?

Lyuda, I will surprise you, but not only are you right with your last post, so rowers, especially academics, very often ski in winter, and not enough high level... For example, rowing MSMK, skiing KMS. There is an MC. And in rowing on skis in winter - this is God himself ordered! There are a lot of MS in cross-country skiing in the Russian national team.

Vyacheslav, the work of the upper shoulder girdle in rowing. So what?

I see no reason to continue the argument.

Lyuda, but on the other hand, the modern doublepoling skate has common features: in both cases, the work of the upper shoulder girdle is of great importance.

Vyacheslav, “double poling has nothing to do with the classic two-step alternating move”.

So I didn’t claim it.

Dmitry: “And this means that the results of our biathletes are very good”

This is exactly what I noted. Do not read? Chernousov is not a double-polling player either.

Lyuda, double-poling has nothing to do with the classic two-step alternating stroke.

“This of course does not mean that they are double-polling” (c) = Vyacheslav :))
Of course not, Vyacheslav. This means that it is very difficult for them to drive 70 km because they are not used to driving in such a dull way. Because, unlike skiers, they are not taught this, and they do not train it.
And this means that the results of our biathletes are very good.

Dmitry, have you seen a lot of biathletes training? All their varieties: power, technical, speed-power, interval and many others? This does not mean, of course, that they are double-polling. But that doublepoling is much closer to skating, rather than the classic two-step alternating - this is a fact.

Vyacheslav, watch the training of biathletes. And you will see that their preparation does not take place at all by double-polling. And with an ordinary skate
I believe that for health reasons they sometimes ride alternately "on the wood" than that they train to go the distance by double-polling

Dmitry, such a move is definitely included in the training of both skiers and biathletes, and it is natural that it is much closer to a skating move than to an alternating two-step one.

Vyacheslav, do we have biathletes double-polling the distance? :))

What other "alternative games"? Are you crazy up there? Or do they want to immediately vulgarize and bury a good idea?
It is not necessary to "alternative games", but to work out the issue of organizing Russian starts, including open ones. And not in a hurry, but how it should be done, including the study of such a sensitive issue as doping control

Race as a whole ... Sochi 2014 mass start men 50 km ... website

Vadim, yes, the emotions are strong.
I watched the video and remembered my emotions.
The voice was completely cut off. The pulse is frantic, as if she herself ran this race with the guys))

Finish 50 km, Sochi 2014 ... Oh what emotions! site

It is not necessary to be an athlete, but the volume behind the back is very desirable. And I'm not going to walk. It will not be interesting to me in that format.

Vyacheslav!

But I have run more than 50 km more than once! And not only on skis, but also cross-country (jogging) and NOTICE WITHOUT FEEDING (recharge) on the track ... I'm sure a lot depends on the pace to go 50 km on skis for your pleasure in training ... You don't need to be a great athlete. ..

Swetlana, well done Ermil!)

By the way, Ermil Vokuev became seventh overall and second in age group 18-29 years old. Also not without a reward.

Lilia, I haven't run more than 50 km. And then, it was almost 30 years ago, and then they did not know anything about doublepoling. So I'll analyze it better for now. But the children will grow up, it will be possible to hit marathons, of course, there are such plans in their age category. :)

Vyacheslav, I had to show up.

Watched the race. The degree of readiness of the top athletes and the relief of the track allow the entire marathon to ride exclusively on a non-step pace. In fact, this is a double polling competition. They did not lubricate the skis at all. Most likely, all this explains the good performance of our biathletes, there were no classics there in fact.
Finish protocol datasport.com

Vladimir Eremeevich, wrote above: 6000 started, 4776 finished.
Alternative games will be held as I thought in Sochi, about 500 athletes are expected, including foreign ones.

Irina K., thanks, I see.)

Ilya Chernousov well done! The finish was a success! Made all those Norwegian Pedersen and Dalens!
Ermil Vokuev also deserves praise, like our guys biathletes, they were not afraid to run 70 km.
For Podchufarova, such a feat would be too much, in my opinion.
I wonder how many participants were there?

Irsen, but they do not take it there, they themselves are declared there.

I admire Shipulin and Tsvetkov. Super. Respect.

Anton and Max, respect to you!
Kruglov, something was limited to arrival in the second thousand) Why did they not take Lesha Slepov? (

For Anton, who is not a marathon runner and not a classic, finishing in the first hundred is very cool ...

Well done Ilya! And well done all, everyone who overcame this marathon!

Vyacheslav, perhaps with you in Italy and there are no such skis! And if there are, they are unlikely to be super racing, because biathletes often use them for rolling.
Marina, it was nice to see the smiling guys, with a joke, humor! The head was rebooted, it is necessary to compete for a month and a half somewhere!
On February 24, in Yekaterinburg, Anton will run the marathon again, maybe Max will join. We are waiting for information on alternative games, I want to support the athletes!

Vera: “Anton was skiing Sasha Legkov, because he doesn't have one for the classics. I wonder who Max was running after? "

Apparently good skis for the classics no? After all, they periodically ride classics. So there should be skis, just not combat skis. :)

Ilya with a victory! Anton and Maxim are great, very worthy, great!

Vera! Thank you, thank you!
Yes, then - Antosha and Maksimushka just COOL! Uraaaaaaaaa!

Marina Alekseevna, 6000 people started, Nikolay Kruglov finished 1118th. For a biathlete, 70 km is a classic and I consider it very decent to be among the 80 and 120. Anton was skiing Sasha Legkov, because he doesn't have one for the classics. I wonder who Max was running on?
Ilya with a victory! He is second in marathons. Before that, it was not possible to win.

Our Yugorsky ski marathon is also a stage of the marathon cup. And being on YLM I have heard more than once that marathon runners have some concessions on farming. It was all the more gratifying to watch our biathletes and skiers (Ustyugov, Belov, Shopin, and of course almost our Petyunya Northug), crystal clear from doping, and giving a fight at the finish line to pro marathoners))))

Ilya - with a victory. All those who ran - with a run!)

And skiers continue to "wipe" all ill-wishers! My admiration and sincere congratulations! And Anton and Max are good fellows, they took part, they got their breath.

Another thing is cool - to run 70 km, so that at the finish line 0.2 seconds are divided))

Vyacheslav, thank you) most likely the time lag is precisely because of this.
The guys are great anyway! 70 km is even scary to think, not like running.

Marina Alekseevna, Dmitry, this is generally a strange marathon, I read the detailed report of the girl who participated last year, there is something to compare between the participants is difficult. Most likely, Chernousov pulled away or stood forward, and walked as best he could. And the starting places for Max and Anton are not comfortable, most likely. I would like to read their reviews.

Spiridon, it is Novosibirsk that drives! And what if Ilya lives in Switzerland ?! He often visits his homeland. BORN then he was in NOVOSIBIRSK! So do not bother to rejoice for your fellow countryman!
