Inexpensive do-it-yourself pool in the country. How to build a pool in the country with your own hands

The pool at the dacha is a great opportunity to swim on a hot summer day after hard work in the garden, and for the kids it will be just paradise. But it is not always possible to buy an expensive plastic or inflatable pool. You can make a small pool with your own hands just from scrap materials, such as tires, pallets, containers, bathtubs, which can be found in your yard or you can get them completely free of charge.

Scrap materials: advantages and disadvantages

There are a large number of various materials from which you can make yourself a comfortable summer cottage pool in a short time, where not only children, but also their parents can splash in the summer. And for this you will not have to spend a lot of money and purchase expensive tools, as in the case of the construction of a stationary concrete pool.

Of tires

If you have the opportunity to find or ask your friend a tractor driver for an old unnecessary tire, then you can make an excellent pool in your country house, in which all family members can swim.

The frame (sides) for the pool will be the old tire, and the bottom will need to be filled with concrete, about 15 centimeters thick. It is necessary to pour concrete not only inside, but also outside for more waterproofing. You will also need to install a tap to drain the water and provide a purification plant (filter) for the pool. In a week you will be able to use such a pool without any problems.

But there are both advantages and disadvantages of this material for the construction of a pool.

From wooden pallets

Wooden pallets have long been used to make outdoor furniture and can now be used to build a swimming pool. Their sizes and shapes make it possible to erect walls (sides) for a reservoir. In order to make a good round structure, you will need to take 9 pallets. Then the pool will be able to freely accommodate about 6 people.

From plastic bottles

Plastic bottles have long been a popular building material for summer residents. These are convenient and practical products from which you can build a sufficiently high and strong round, oval, square or rectangular pool wall structure using cement mortar.

Meanwhile, there are a number of advantages and disadvantages plastic bottles as a material for the construction of the pool.

From a cast iron bath

Very often, when making repairs in an apartment, we throw away old cast-iron or steel bathtubs, which can now be useful in the country and not only for collecting rainwater. From such a bathroom, you can make a small pool for kids who can splash in warm water while relaxing in the country. For the device of such a pool, you only need the bathroom itself, a certain amount of sand and decorative facing materials at hand.

From container

If you have an empty container at your dacha, in which you used to store your tools, now it can easily become a wonderful and deep pool. But if you decide to make such a reservoir at your dacha, and the container is not available, then it can always be purchased at an affordable price from a carrier company.

From reinforced concrete rings

Reinforced concrete rings, from which wells are arranged, and sewage systems are perfect for the construction of a small pool on a personal plot. The height of the standard ring is 90 cm, so the depth of the pool will be quite enough for children and adults, and the maximum diameter is 2 meters. The round ring is already a ready-made structure of the pool walls, but in order to get an impermeable reservoir, it will be necessary to additionally purchase geotextiles, concrete mortar and sand.

From gabions

Gabions are packed in a special metal mesh stones. Since the mesh can have a wide variety of geometric shapes, therefore, the pool can be made at will. Such a pool will look great on a personal plot and, moreover, will not require additional decoration.

How to make a pool from a tire with your own hands

Calculation of the required materials

To do enough volumetric pool out of the tire, we recommend paying attention to the tires of the "Belaz" truck. The diameter of this tire ranges from 1.62 to 3.575 meters, and the width is from 49.8 to 114 centimeters. If you need to find the right size, then you can use a special table.

  • In order to find out the volume of the future pool, we need to make some simple calculations using the formula V = π · r 2 · h, where V - denotes the volume of a round reservoir; the number π is a constant equal to 3.14; r is the radius of the circle; h - tire height. We need to find out the radius of the circle. To do this, we divide the diameter value by two: 3.575: 2 = 1.7875 mm.
  • Then we substitute our numbers and get the volume of the structure: 3.14x1.7875 2x1.149 = 11.4371m 3. We get a round number of 11.438 m 3.
  • In order to make the base of the pool, we will need to purchase sand and cement mortar. The sand pillow and the concrete bottom must be at least 15 cm thick, so we need to calculate the amount of these materials.
  • Sand: 3.14x3.1951x0.15 = 1.504 m 3. We will need a little more cement mortar, so we need to add 2 more buckets to this volume.
  • As a finishing material, we can take oil paint of various colors, with which we will paint the external frame of the pool. Or you can decorate it with small natural stones.

    List of tools

  • A good sharp large knife (preferably a hunting knife).
  • Shovels, shovels and bayonets.
  • Large containers for grout, sand and water.
  • Concrete mixer (or a special building container for the preparation of concrete mortar).
  • Level.
  • Roulette at least 5 meters.
  • Stages of work

  • With a knife, we make a deep cut on one side of the tire. And in order for us to get an even cut, it is necessary to go with a knife exactly along the marked circles of the tire. We do not recommend using a grinder, since during operation the rubber will melt and stick to the edging wheel, and it will also crumble strongly.
  • We determine the place for the pool and clean it well. We remove unnecessary plants and debris, and then pour a layer of sand and tamp it well. You can moisten the sand a little and then it will keep its shape. We need to make a layer of sand of 15 centimeters so that the diameter of the cushion is 15–20 centimeters larger than the diameter of the tire.
  • On top of the pillow, we pour the prepared concrete solution so that a layer is also about 15 centimeters. We put a tire on top of the solution and pour two buckets of solution inside it.
  • Now we leave our pool for about a week so that the concrete hardens well.
  • After that, we can take a waterproof paint and paint the inside (walls) of the pool so that they are not black, but for example blue, turquoise or green to match the color of the water. We can decorate the outer walls of the tire to our liking: paint it with oil paint, overlay it with pieces of broken tiles like a mosaic, overlay it with small stones, etc.
  • How and what to paint

    If you decide to paint the pool from a tire, then you can take nitro paint, enamel, oil paint or aerosol for painting cars.

  • Nitro paint dries very quickly and even a thin layer of it can make the surface mirror-like smooth and even.
  • It is best to apply the enamel in 2 coats. The first layer is applied in a zigzag pattern, and then the paint is evenly distributed over the surface with a semi-dry roller. Then we apply a second coat.
  • The aerosol is applied from a spray can, so that it is very convenient, since brushes and rollers are not required here.
  • Water-repellent oil paint has a high degree of hiding power and strength. If you want to get a matte surface of the pool, then a solution consisting of 100 grams of laundry soap (40%) can be added to the paint (for 3 liters).
  • Video: how to make a pool from a large tire

    Such a pool does not require special operating conditions, since automobile truck tires are designed to work even in the most difficult weather conditions and at all temperatures. Therefore, the pool will serve you for many years.

    Periodically, its internal and outer part, as well as the bottom will have to be repainted, since even the most waterproof paint will begin to crack and peel over time.

    Construction of a reservoir from pallets (pallets)

    Calculation of the required materials

    Pallets will be an excellent solution for a summer cottage pool. From them we will build the walls of the structure and the more pallets we take, the larger and rounder our pool will be.

  • In order to calculate the volume of the reservoir, we will use the mathematical formula S = A

    2 -a 2, where "A" is the side of a square that contains an octagon and "a" is a side of an octagon. Therefore, "a" will act for us with a length of the sidewall of the pallet of 1.2 meters.

  • First, we find the value "A" according to the formula below:
  • The result from the root is 1.41421356. Further, according to this formula, we find a fraction and it turns out to be 0.8485281. Then we substitute our numbers into the formula to calculate the "A" side: 1.2 + 2x0.8485281 = 2.8970562 m.
  • We calculate the area of the structure: S = A 2 -а 2 and we get 2.8970562 2 - 1.2 2 = 8.3929346-1.44 = 6.9529346m 2. Now we round up our figure and get 6.95 m 2.
  • Having all the values, we calculate the volume of the pool according to the formula V = S of the base xh, where "h" stands for the height of the structure, which is 0.9 meters. We get 6.95x0.9 = 6.255 m 3.
  • Instruments

  • Large shovels of various types.
  • Big hammer.
  • Electric or cordless screwdriver.
  • Concrete mixer.
  • Buckets for sand, water and concrete.
  • Gravel or crushed stone (the amount is calculated based on the diameter of the pool).
  • Electric jigsaw.
  • Grinder or sandpaper.
  • Roulette at least 10 meters.
  • Stakes and strong cord.
  • Square.
  • Rule (level) and plumb line.
  • Marker or pencil.
  • Large pliers.
  • Wood plane.
  • Hardware.
  • Stages of work

  • First, we treat all pallets with antiseptic and antifungal agents and special impregnations, since the tree will be in the immediate vicinity of the water.
  • For the pool sections, we take pallets 120x90 cm. From these we will create an octagonal structure.
  • We dig a round pit with shovels so that our diameter is slightly larger than the dimensions of the future reservoir.
  • We level the bottom of the pit well and fill it with crushed stone or gravel - a layer of 20 centimeters.
  • Inside the pit, we assemble a frame from pallets (8 pieces). Before that, we lay dense polyethylene at the bottom of the pit. We put pallets with a solid part inside the structure.
  • We connect all the elements with boards, which are nailed or screwed along the perimeter of the frame sides. We strengthen the joints with wooden blocks using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws.
  • We make holes in the frame of the required diameter to install a good drainage system.
  • After assembling the entire frame, we must firmly fasten it with two secure tie straps in a circle at the top and bottom of the pool.
  • In the holes prepared in advance, we insert plastic pipes for the supply and discharge of water.
  • In order to further strengthen our frame, we drive wooden pegs into the distance between the pallets and the pit walls.
  • We fill the bottom of the pool with a 10 mm concrete mortar and leave it on the 5-7th day for its complete solidification.
  • After the concrete is dry, we start waterproofing work. To do this, we take a dense polyethylene film and lay it over the entire inner surface of the pool. We fasten with tape to the sides.
  • We can decorate the outer sides of the pool frame with OSB, chipboard or fiberboard, as they will help to hide all the unaesthetic elements of pallet fixings. You can also quickly and inexpensively decorate the frame with ordinary rolls of reeds, bamboo, etc.

    The nuances of care and operation

    It is necessary to care for such a pool carefully. Regularly check the plastic wrap for cuts or other damage through which water may leak. Over time, even a small leak from a small hole will damage the wooden frame (mold, rot, wood will swell, etc.).

    From time to time it will be necessary to drain the water and wash the pool well from sand, dirt and other debris. If you don't have good filters, you will have to change the water often, which is very expensive, so it is best to get a good water purifier once. You can even use a homemade sand filter, which is the most common among summer residents who make pools with their own hands.

    Also, once a year or several years, if necessary, it will be necessary to re-process the wooden products of the pool with special impregnations.

    Swimming pool in the country made of PVC bottles

    Calculation of materials

    Plastic bottles have already become almost an integral attribute of summer residents, as they make of them many different items for summer cottages: furniture, fences for flower beds and front gardens, hotbeds and greenhouses, including swimming pools.

  • In order to calculate the number of bottles required for a construction with dimensions of 4x2x1.5 meters, we must know the parameters of 1 bottle. One and a half liter plastic container measures 34.5x8.5 cm.
  • Since we will be laying the bottles on their side, the total length of the frame must be divided by their width. That is, 4000: 85 = 47 pieces we need to lay one row.
  • Next, we will calculate how many containers we need for a frame width of 2000: 85 = 23.5 pieces. Now we double our results if the pool is square (47 + 23.5) x2 = 141 pieces.
  • Since the height of the structure is 1.5 meters, then it is not necessary to calculate the number of future rows 1500: 85 = 17.6. Now we need to determine how many bottles we need in total and for this we are 141X17.6 = 2481.6 pieces. But we will round this figure and get 2500 bottles with a margin.
  • We will also need to pour sand into each bottle, so for this we need 2500x1.5 = 3750 kg.
  • We will make a pillow 15 cm thick from sand. Therefore, we calculate its amount as follows, multiply the width, length and height of the sand masonry: 4x2x0.15 = 1.2 m 3. Now we add up all our results and we get 3722 + 120 = 3842 kg.
  • A concrete base of 15 cm will also require 120 kg of mortar.
  • Tools for the job

  • Shovels (small excavator can be ordered).
  • Electric screwdriver.
  • Concrete mixer.
  • Bin for rubbish, water and mortar.
  • Roulette at least 10 meters.
  • Pegs and durable cord.
  • Large corner.
  • Level (rule) and plumb line.
  • Marker or pencil.
  • Hardware (nails and screws).
  • Construction stages

  • We choose a flat area and clean it well. Such a pool will stand perfectly on a slab foundation.
  • We are digging a flat pit 4x2 meters in size and 15 centimeters deep.
  • We level the bottom of the pit and tamp it well. We fill in the sand (slightly moistened) on top and evenly distribute it around the entire perimeter, and then press it down to a layer of 15 cm. We also fill in a small layer of gravel.
  • We make formwork from wide boards, and so that the frame does not fall apart, we hammer wedges into the ground from the outer sides.
  • From reinforcement (diameter 8mm) we make a lattice in order to strengthen the base. We pull the connection points of the rods with wire. The cell of the lattice is approximately 10x10 cm, and its area is 8 square meters.
  • We lay such a frame made of reinforcement on the bottom in such a way that it does not come into contact with the sand. And for this we install a small support made of broken bricks. And then we put the frame on top.
  • We supply the necessary pipes for the supply and discharge of water.
  • We fill in the concrete solution and level it well with a special tool (a rule or just a flat board).
  • Leave the solution to harden for 5-7 days.
  • Then we move on to laying the walls made of PVC bottles and for this we mark out the geometry of the pool.
  • We fill each bottle with sand and screw it on with a lid. Then we apply a wide strip of solution to the markings.
  • From the reinforcement (diameter 0.3 mm) we make a frame that will serve as a connecting element between the rows of plastic bottles.
  • We put the bottles on the cement slurry very tightly to each other, and fill the gaps between them with cement. After we have laid the first row, fill it with cement and lay the frame from the reinforcement.
  • We remove the formwork, and begin to carry out laying from bottles until we get a wall of the required height. If our pool is round, then in the center of the structure we install a homemade compass in the form of a metal pin with horizontal bar to help you stay within the radius.
  • We leave our walls for 5-7 days so that the cement mortar is completely dry. After that we start plastering the walls. As a waterproofing, we cover the inner surface of the pool with bitumen.
  • Next, we start finishing work. We take a plastic wrap, which is necessary for the arrangement of the internal space of the pool. We put it well, stretch it, cut off the excess, and weld the joints and carefully process them with special glue or sealant.
  • Now you can decorate the place around the pool at your own discretion.
  • Care and maintenance

    In order for the water in the pool to remain clean, appropriate filters must be installed.

    To date, several types of pools have been developed, with the arrangement of most of which you can handle on your own. The best option is a full-fledged monolithic concrete pool. This design is characterized by the highest indicators of reliability and durability.

    Preparatory activities

    Decide on the desired shape and required dimensions equipped artificial reservoir.

    When determining the optimal pool size, consider how many people will be swimming in the pool. For a large family, it is better to immediately equip a spacious container.

    In accordance with practical experience, the optimal depth of the reservoir is 1.5-1.8 m, 4 m in width and length is usually sufficient.

    For the rest, be guided by your requests and requirements. For example, if you plan to use the pool for full workouts, consider this point when determining the required length and width of the reservoir.

    Choose a convenient location to build your pool.

    The main thing is that the space is not blocked by trees. Because of the trees, the water in the pool will not be able to warm up normally and, in addition, it will be constantly polluted by fallen leaves.

    Also, low-lying areas are not suitable for arranging pools, because with such an arrangement, the water will be constantly polluted by rain streams.

    Marking and digging a pit

    Armed with a tape measure, stakes and a cord, proceed to marking the construction site.

    The dimensions of the construction site should exceed the dimensions of the future pool by 0.5 m on each side. To mark the boundaries, drive the pegs into the ground and pull a cord between them.

    Completely remove the top fertile soil ball.

    Dig a pit of the required dimensions, while the bottom of the pit should be approximately 25-30 cm below the desired depth of the pool.

    Line up the pit walls carefully. The bottom of the pit must be given a slight slope.

    Monolithic pool construction

    Proceed directly to the construction of a monolithic pool.

    Place a 20-30 cm layer of sand on the bottom of the pit. Thoroughly compact the laid material and cover it with waterproofing.

    A fairly large assortment of effective ones is presented on the modern market. To ensure high-quality moisture protection, roofing material is well suited. It is a practical, reliable and inexpensive material.

    Lay the roofing material. You can use molten bitumen to fix the material.

    Line the waterproofed surface with stones. Lay a ready-made reinforcing mesh on top of the layer of stones, or make it yourself from metal bars.

    Set up a drainage pit. Its depth should slightly exceed the depth of the main reservoir. Install a water drain pipe in the pit. The end of this pipe must be introduced into the reservoir. Equip the pipe with a water drain shut-off valve.

    Fill the drain with a fairly thick gravel layer. Install overflow and skimmer systems to treat pool water.

    Place reinforcing rods around the perimeter of the excavation in 30 cm increments. Maintain a 50 mm gap between the reinforcement and the edges of the reservoir. Fasten the reinforcement rods with wire.

    Fold out of planks. Maintain a 15 cm gap between the formwork and the pit walls.

    At the same stage, provide for the installation of pipes and equipment for pumping and supplying water. Or you can use external systems of pumps and hoses - whichever is more convenient for you.

    Start concreting the pool. you can order or do it yourself.

    Pour the concrete gradually and slowly, in a horizontal layer.

    Also fill in the voids between the formwork panels and the pit walls. Give the mixture a month to gain strength and start arranging the pool.

    Carry out the interior design at your discretion. You can tile the bowl. Alternatively, you can lay out the bottom with a 10 cm layer of clean sand, and then the pool will look like a natural reservoir.

    Other private pool options

    Frame systems

    Such structures are constructed of wood with a finish cladding with tin or aluminum. Aluminum sheets are attractive and superior to sheet metal in terms of reliability and durability.

    The frame straps are created from pine logs. Intermediate pieces can be made from any thick quality planks. To provide additional rigidity of the structure, braces made of strong boards are used.

    Among the main advantages of frame pools, it should be noted that there is no need to perform large volumes of earthworks and the possibility of dismantling the structure in the cold season.

    Changing water in such a pool is carried out using a flexible garden hose, which can be conveniently fixed at the bottom of the tank. Waste water from the pool can be used to water the garden.

    All joints of the frame structure are subject to mandatory sealing. To give the structure the required tightness, even an ordinary plastic film is well suited.

    Wooden elements must be treated with an antiseptic.

    It usually takes less money to equip frame pools compared to the cost of building a monolithic structure, while such reservoirs have a rather solid appearance and fit well into the design of the site.

    Find out how to build with step by step instructions in our new article.

    For the arrangement of the pool, if desired, you can even use an ordinary PVC film. This material has a rather attractive appearance and acceptable performance characteristics.

    The film normally transfers contacts with water, ensures proper tightness of the structure and allows you to save on waterproofing the reservoir.

    Even if cracks appear in the container, a properly mounted PVC film will retain water.

    PVC film can be used both in the arrangement of a new reservoir and in the repair of an old pool. At the same time, for the construction of such a structure, it is not necessary to perform voluminous earthworks: the elements of the film are simply fastened using the method of temperature welding, as a result of which a very durable bowl is created.

    The pool is installed on a previously prepared base and fixed with a frame made of planks.

    Swimming pools, the base of which is made of fiberglass, are very popular today. This durable material withstands even the most severe mechanical loads and does not need any additional coating.

    Among the shortcomings of the design under consideration, one can single out only the need for the mandatory summing up of all communications.

    The bowl is placed on a solid concrete base.

    Thus, there are many pool options available for the owner to choose from. Having studied the features of each considered variety artificial reservoirs, you will be able to come to the optimal solution and build your dream pool without outside help.

    Video - How to build a pool with your own hands

    An artificial reservoir can serve not only as an ideal place to relax, but also as a real decoration of the site. For its construction, it is absolutely not necessary to invite specialists - you can make a small concrete bowl for the pool and reliable waterproofing for it yourself.

    Choosing a place for the pool

    Before starting construction, you should carefully consider the filling systems (it is more convenient to place the reservoir closer to the water supply), purification and water drainage. When choosing a place for a pool, you should be guided by the following rules:

    It should not be placed next to trees: their roots will tend to water and can damage the waterproofing; in addition, fallen leaves will fall into it, and the heating of water in a shaded area will be slow;

    So that when the frozen moist soil heaves does not damage the pool bowl, the pit should be placed in the area with the deepest groundwater; it is better if it is a clayey area: clay does not allow water to pass through well, and in case of partial damage to the waterproofing, water from the pool will not leave the pool so quickly;

    So that as little dust, dirt and fallen leaves as possible gets into it, you should choose a place for it so that the prevailing direction of the wind goes along it; moreover, pipes for overflow and purification of water should be placed in the side opposite to the direction of the wind - in this case, the accumulated dirt will immediately merge.

    It is not recommended to place a reservoir next to large trees

    Advice. Maintenance of structures with complex shapes with many bends and angles is much more difficult. In the absence of a high-quality filtration system, it is better to choose a rectangular or oval pool.

    Optimal depth artificial reservoir - 105-170 cm. If there are children in the house, you should take care of their safety. In order to avoid accidents, the area for bathing with a depth of 50 cm should be fenced off with a net.

    Preparation of the pit. Waterproofing

    The main stages of the pool construction are:
    laying a pillow of sand and crushed stone or gravel (in areas with sandy or rocky soil, you can do without it);
    installation of expanded polystyrene at the bottom of the pool to compensate for soil pressure;
    double waterproofing of the bowl (from the outside and inner sides concrete structure);
    laying of cleaning and drainage systems;
    installation of formwork and reinforcement;
    pouring concrete;
    applying a waterproofing film (concrete milk);
    finishing of the structure.

    1. The pit is marked with the help of pegs and a nylon twine stretched between them. When calculating its width, the size of the formwork is taken into account. The depth of the pit should also be greater than planned: when calculating, the heights of sand and foam cushions, concrete pouring and finishing should be taken into account.

    Marking the place for the pool

    2. To prevent the soil from falling apart, the walls of the pit are made with a slight bias... After leveling the bottom and walls, all loose soil is removed from the pit. The earth in it should be spilled with water and thoroughly tamped.

    3. Its bottom is covered with a layer of sand 10-12 cm, and then with crushed stone or gravel and compacted again.

    Drainage cushion device

    Advice. In order for the pool to accumulate as little dirt as possible, it should be located just above the ground. Otherwise, rainwater, along with dirt, will constantly enter the tank.

    4. If the design provides bottom water outlet, pipes for it should be laid before backfilling crushed stone. At the same time, the pit is made with a slight slope towards the drains. Such pipes are packed in protective sleeves that protect them from freezing, are laid at a slight slope of 5 ° and taken out into a prepared pit. At the other end of the pipe is installed valve... For a small pool, one pipe is enough. In the construction of a larger area, one drain will be small: it is better to provide for them 2-3.

    6. The simplest waterproofers are roofing material on bitumen mastic or PVC film (plastic film will collapse very quickly). The film, like the roofing material, is rolled out with an overlap of 15 centimeters. The waterproofing agent is laid on top of the rubble layer at least in two layers... It should protrude 15-20 cm beyond the sides of the pool.

    Waterproofing and formwork installation

    Suspended wall formwork. Pouring concrete

    The walls of the pool will be pressured not only by the heaving of the soil, but also by the weight of about ten tons of water. Therefore, the concrete frame should be constructed from high-quality cement. grades from М300-350 verified manufacturers with obligatory gasket double layer reinforcement with cells of 20 cm.To increase the service life, it is advisable to add an additive to it - plasticizer... The thickness of the concrete walls is 15-20 mm. When pouring, concrete should be laid gradually, layer by layer, and each of them should be carefully tamped by hand or with a vibrator.

    Important! In the event that the filling is made in layers and the subsequent seams are laid only after the previous one has hardened, in the places of their joints is formed cold seam which will be problem area, "Slack" in concrete. When the soil moves, damage can occur at the joints. That's why it is advisable to fill the walls and bottom of the pool at the same time.

    Cold seam

    1. For the simultaneous filling of the bottom and walls of the pool wall formwork can be "suspended": lay the boards across the pit, on which the formwork will be attached. It is bursting with boards every 50 cm, and the places of its joints are fixed.

    Pool formwork

    2. First, the floor is poured a couple of centimeters above the bottom edge of the formwork... So that when pouring the walls it does not lead, it should grasp a little (the setting time is no more than 4 hours). If, when the reinforcement bar is immersed, it pushes the concrete only 3-4 cm - you can start pouring the walls. In this case, the mixture must fill the formwork evenly from all 4 sides.

    3. If a concrete pump is used for pouring, set it to minimum power. In order not to damage the floor that has not yet fully strengthened, its hose is parallel to the ground. When pouring, 5-10-minute pauses are periodically made for vibration and concrete setting.

    4. If it is not possible to fill the walls and the floor at the same time, the structure should be strengthened: fill the cold joint with any elastic sealant: mastic, polymer, rubber cord, non-shrinking cement or liquid glass. Before placing such compensating materials, the concrete surface must be thoroughly cleaned of contamination.

    5. After removing the formwork, the concrete walls and floor are covered with waterproofing film: cement mortar (concrete milk).

    Applying a waterproofing film

    Penetrating waterproofing

    Before finishing the pool walls, the concrete walls are waterproofed. To do this, just like before pouring concrete, you can use PVC or roofing material. A fairly effective, but more expensive method is the use of penetrating compounds such as Ceresite or Penotron, which are applied to slightly under-dried concrete. Processing is carried out in 2 layers.

    Without filtration systems, the water in the pool will very quickly begin to emit an unpleasant odor, and its surface will be covered with a slippery coating. There are several ways to clean the reservoir:
    periodic pumping and use of heated water for watering beds, fruit bushes and trees; however, when the water is completely removed from the pool, the new one will heat up for a long time;

    using filtration systems; the simplest devices are installations filled with coarse sand; a small pit is arranged next to the pool for a pump equipped with such a filter; two pipes are led into the pool: one for taking water, the second for draining the purified water; electricity costs will be minimal, you will have to spend only on the purchase of a pumping station;

    Pool water purifier

    By using chemical reagents(used as an additional cleaning system); Blooming water can be eliminated not only by chlorination or the addition of bromine, but with the help of inexpensive and environmentally friendly overhydrol.

    Advice. Without water, a bowl made of concrete in frosts can crack, so it is not recommended to drain water from it for the winter. It is enough to remove only part of the water, and to compensate for the ice pressure on the walls of the pool, throw several plastic 5-liter bottles into the water, to which the load is suspended. To prevent too much debris from accumulating in the pool during the winter, it can be covered with any covering material.

    Pool finishing

    You can decorate the bottom and walls of the pool with mosaic tiles on a mesh backing, a propylene coating or acrylic paint for pools with the addition of color. Mosaic tiles should be glued only with glue that can withstand significant temperature changes. When using a mesh, the mosaic will adhere well to any bends.

    Advice. It is undesirable to use porous rubber-based paints for finishing the pool: it will be very difficult to rinse them. Moreover, algae attach very quickly to such surfaces.

    Acrylic painting and tiling

    The July heat just brings thoughts of water, swimming, cool rivers and lakes. It is difficult to imagine a person who, in such weather, would refuse to have their own pool for relaxation and cooling. Especially if he owns a personal plot or works in the country.

    However, not every yard has a place for a large swimming pool, just like not every owner has the means to build it from scratch. Therefore, in this article, we have collected 6 of the best modern ideas for a small, but also inexpensive pool that will turn this heat into your best vacation partner.

    Frame, inflatable and hand-made - then you will get acquainted with the simplest and most economical today options for swimming pools, as well as see them in 40 photos in the design of a summer cottage or a small courtyard!

    1. The best choice of 2016 - frame pool (10 photos)

    Modern frame pools come in a wide range of sizes and prices. Simple children's option the size of 2.5 by 1.5 m and a volume of 1200 liters costs about $ 60 (1500 UAH or 4000 rubles).

    A more capacious model with a volume of 6500 liters and a diameter of about 4 meters will cost twice as much. But you must agree: this is an inexpensive payment for such a pleasure, especially when you consider the following advantages of frame pools:

    • Quick and easy installation (the pool folds up rather than inflates);
    • Reliable, stainless steel frame;
    • Dense walls made of heavy-duty PVC and polyester;
    • Additional support for the walls with dense tapes;
    • The presence of a drain valve that can be connected to a garden hose to gently empty the pool of water;
    • No need for maintenance (only keeping the surface clean and sometimes checking the water filter);
    • Warranty (period depends on the manufacturer).

    Many frame pool models come with a cover that will protect the pool from leaves and other debris during days or hours when you will not be using it.

    Since the pool can safely stand all summer, then it is sometimes additionally equipped with a body or even a podium, so that this whole structure fits beautifully into the design of your summer cottage or site. Here's how some craftsmen decorate a frame pool (photo below):

    2. Children's and family inflatable pools - photos on the site

    Children's and "adult" inflatable pools are considered the main competitors of the frame ones. They are easy to transport and relatively quick to install, although it will take some time to handle the pump. The walls are also made of dense PVC and polyester + most manufacturers complete inflatable pools with a protective cover against debris.

    Perhaps the main advantage is the cost of such pools - they are 1.5 times cheaper than frame ones. At the same time, they also have one serious drawback - the lack of water drainage. In addition, if the inflatable pool has big sizes, you will need to buy an electric pump in addition to it.

    3. Concrete pool to order or do it yourself

    Of course, not everyone can do this option, and the cost will be decent, but there are craftsmen who managed to build a concrete pool with their own hands. So we decided to include it on our list of inexpensive ideas.

    The most problematic moment in this case is digging a hole. You can only cope with this on your own if you plan to build a small and shallow pool. Renting a crane today is extremely expensive, and it is advisable only when creating a luxurious swimming pool, and not just for relaxing in the heat.

    Unlike frame and inflatable pools, the concrete version is stationary, but at the same time - one of the highest quality and longest lasting. To make such a pool with your own hands, a mixture of concrete and sand is usually used, which is sprayed onto a metal frame. The general procedure is as follows:

    1. Dig a hole for the pool. At the same time, its depth and width should be 23-31 cm larger than the estimated dimensions of your pool. This distance will be filled in by the shape.
    2. Install plumbing. Typically this is a drain pipe that will be located at the bottom of the pool, as well as any necessary structure (pipes, filters and pumps) to ensure the safe flow of water through the pool. It is permissible to use PVC pipes with a strong bonding material.
    3. Cover the sides and bottom of the pool with a steel frame that will maintain its shape and strength over a long period of use.
    4. Spray a mixture of concrete and sand onto the steel mesh using a powerful sprayer. The most popular pool mix today is Gunite (dry spray) or shotcrete(mix with water). When applying, it is recommended to keep the sprayer nozzle at a distance of about 1 m from the steel mesh, direct the jet perpendicular to the surface and move it in a circular motion.

    Then it remains to wait until the concrete hardens, after which you can proceed to the decorative finishing of the pool walls with tiles or paint (if desired).

    4. Swimming pond or natural pool

    Another option for an inexpensive stationary pool that you can build yourself. Instead of concrete, gravel and clay will serve as its walls, and natural aquatic plants (reeds, sedges, lilies, etc.) can act as decorations.

    The principle of building such a pool pond is similar to creating a pool of concrete, but it can be done without a steel frame - just try to keep the walls sloping well and not perpendicular to the bottom. When the walls are perpendicular, then for stability they are covered with a layer of clay or bentonite.

    It is believed that a natural pool can do without expensive filters and pumps if planted with natural plants. However, in order for them to really purify the water, they need to plant about 50% of the entire surface.

    In a natural pool, water must be constantly circulated and aerated, otherwise it will stagnate and fill with unpleasant-smelling bacteria. Flexible PVC pipes who are not afraid of cold weather. They are buried in the soil about 45 cm deep. For underwater aeration, you can use an air compressor and high-strength pipes that are connected to the diffuser. Note that aeration devices consume little energy and must operate only 4-8 hours a day (depending on the size of the pool).

    5. Metal containers as an inexpensive pool for summer cottages

    Shipping containers and other large containers will easily serve you as a pool for a summer cottage or a children's pool on the site. The only problem with their use is related to the fact that some metal containers are not protected from rust. To solve the problem, they are painted or covered with another waterproof finishing material. If you would not like to do this, then use galvanized tanks as a pool, which do not threaten corrosion.

    6. Simple ideas on how to make a pool with your own hands (photo on the site)

    Tarpaulin is another material that is widely used to create simple do-it-yourself pools. You only need to make a reliable case from scrap materials and cover it with a tarpaulin. We suggest you take a look at the last photos in this article and evaluate how a pool made of wooden pallets, haystacks or other materials looks like in a country house or a personal plot.

    Inexpensive pool for the yard or summer cottage: 6 ideas + 40 photos updated: March 12, 2017 by the author: Margarita Glushko

    The pool in a suburban area or dacha has ceased to be a curiosity. Step by step and thoroughly they mount it on their own or invite masters. If you want to make your own pond with your own hands, arm yourself with instructions and detailed photos.

    In general, all types of pools that can be installed on summer cottage, are conditionally subdivided into:

    • frame;
    • foundation pits.

    The first ones are good because they are cleaned for the winter, and also in each season they can change their location. They are fully or partially located on the surface of the earth. Such frames are expensive, although some owners manage to make them with their own hands. Pit basins involve a large amount of work, since it requires digging a hole.

    Some examples of reservoirs for summer cottages:

    • an inflatable pool - similar to a frame one, easy to install and inexpensive, but has a short service life;
    • fiberglass - looks like a monolithic bowl, for the installation of which you need to dig a pit. Transportation causes certain inconveniences due to the dimensions of the structure;

    Plastic pool
    • plastic - is durable and lightweight. By its structure, it resembles fiberglass, therefore it has those difficulties in delivery and installation;
    • concrete - a suitable option for those who are going to install a solid pool in a suburban area. You can make it from separate blocks or as a monolithic structure. Difficult to install, but definitely reliable and durable.

    Attention! If installed incorrectly, a concrete pit can leak water or fill poorly. To prevent this from happening, you need to competently lay all the pipes, worry about high-quality waterproofing.

    Main stages of construction: excavation, insulation, pool filter

    Concrete pool installation instructions:

    • Choosing a place. It's good if it is in an open, sunny area, away from trees: their roots can destroy the bowl, and the foliage will become a constant source of debris.
    • Sizing. The optimal depth for a reservoir in which adults will swim is from 1.5 m. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the waterproofing layer. The length and width can vary and be, for example, 4x4 m or 4x5 m.

    Pit for the pool
    • Calculation of the thickness of the walls and bottom, which depends on the depth of the reservoir, the level of occurrence of groundwater and the quality of the soil.
    • Design of a drainage system, the location of communications, steps and lighting.
    • Marking borders. To do this, it is enough to drive in the pegs in the place of the future reservoir.
    • Excavation works. You can dig a pit manually if the pool is small, but it is better to use special equipment. The pit should be wider and deeper than the project suggests. For example, the walls need to be increased by 04, -0.5 m.

    Advice. To prevent the soil from crumbling, dig a pit, taking into account the inclination of the walls to the center. Provide a place for drainage, as well as the possibility of draining water, for which the bottom should slope towards the drainage system.

    • Bottom leveling and waterproofing. It is necessary to pour a mixture of sand and gravel in a layer of 0.3 m and compact it tightly. Then put roofing material in 2-3 layers, making an overlap on the walls of 15-20 cm. Bitumen or liquid rubber are also suitable.
    • Installation of formwork along the edges of the pool. For it, you can take boards or plywood, which will allow you to make a pool of any shape. Before starting work, you need to carefully take care of the drain system.
    • Reinforcement of the walls of the future reservoir with rods with a diameter of 0.8-1.4 mm.

    Interior decoration of the pool bowl
    • Pouring concrete into the space between the formwork and the ground.
    • Removing the formwork after the concrete mixture has hardened and ironing the walls - processing them with cement and grouting with water. This will add strength to the structure.
    • Reinforcement and pouring of the pool bottom. Installation of a metal ladder.
    • Decorating the surface of the bowl with PVC film, mosaics or tiles.

    Advice. You can first reinforce and pour concrete on the bottom, and then on the walls. If you plan to descend into the pool along concrete steps, then the formwork for them must be prepared separately, after the bowl is ready.

    To build a pool from individual concrete blocks, you need:

    1. Dig a pit, level its bottom and pour concrete.
    2. Lay the walls of the blocks, reinforcing every 3rd row.
    3. Build a staircase into one of the walls.
    4. Make waterproofing and decoration of the pool bowl.

    A polypropylene reservoir can be equipped in two ways:

    • buy a ready-made bowl and install it;
    • purchase a polypropylene sheet and make a container of the desired shape and size from it.

    Concrete pool construction

    In any case, the installation of such a pool consists of the following steps:

    1. Digging a hole larger than the size of the bowl.
    2. Waterproofing the bottom and filling it with concrete.
    3. Installing the bowl.
    4. Installation of drain and nozzles for water supply.
    5. Thermal insulation of the edges of the pool and pipes.
    6. Connecting communications and pouring concrete.

    Attention! To make the walls even, you need to make a formwork inside the bowl, and pour concrete in stages, to a height of 0.3-0.35 cm per day.

    Any pool must be equipped with a filter, otherwise the water will soon become dirty and unsuitable for bathing. It is necessary to pass it with a pump through a cleaning device 2-3 times a day, even if no one bathed in the reservoir. Today there are 3 main types of filtration units:

    • sand - quite voluminous and are used mainly in public pools. Looks like a container with sand filler, where gravel, silver sand, etc can be added;

    Choose the right pool filter
    • cartridge - purify water using propylene membranes. They are small in size and can be installed outside the reservoir itself. Clogged cartridges should be replaced frequently;
    • diatom - the most expensive filters, consisting of several cartridges. They purify water from most microbes using diatomaceous earth with silica.

    Advice. The main criterion for choosing a filter is performance (volume of water passed through). It is indicated by the manufacturer.

    Pool skimmer: purpose, types

    Like a filter, a skimmer removes bacteria from water, but at the same time treats only the top layer of the surface. It also dampens waves when several people swim. The skimmer looks like a metal or plastic tank with a water intake pipe. It is equipped with a filter for deep cleaning from debris, insects, foliage.

    A skimmer can be:

    • hinged - more often used for frame or inflatable pools;
    • built-in - used during the installation of a pit reservoir.

    Pool skimmer

    Usually, manufacturers attach a drawing to the device, according to which the skimmer can be assembled. It must be installed even at the stage of filling the walls with concrete. It is necessary to provide boxes for openings. A plywood shield is prepared under the skimmer, which, together with the attached device, is installed in the pool bowl.

    Advice. One skimmer cleans 25 sq. m of water. If the pool has a larger volume, you will need multiple devices.

    As you can see, the arrangement of the pool is quite troublesome. However, after studying the instructions and choosing necessary materials, you can handle this task.
