Winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the Olympiad without entrance examinations are admitted to state and municipal educational institutions of secondary and higher professional education in accordance with the profile of the Olympiad.

The system of Olympiads serves to popularize sciences and identify talented students. Many participants and winners of the Olympiads later became recognized and scientists in their fields.

The All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren is one of the most massive and long-awaited events in the educational sphere of Russia. It is anticipated by gifted children who study in almost all grades. From the history of the Olympics

Of course, we can talk about the development of the modern All-Russian Olympiad from the moment the history of Russia as a federal state began. However, the foundations of this event in the field of education were laid back in the distant 19th century, when, in 1886, members of the Astronomical Community of the Russian Empire initiated an Olympiad competition in solving mathematical problems for “learning youth”.

When the Russian Empire on the world map was replaced Soviet Union, the school Olympiad movement not only did not stop, but also became noticeably more active - since the 30s of the last century, Olympiads in such disciplines as mathematics, physics and chemistry began to be held for high school students. Gradually, the Olympiads began to be called All-Union, but in the 60s the Minister of Education M.A. Prokofiev signed a decree approving a whole list of Olympiad competitions between schoolchildren.

Over time, the number of subjects in which you could demonstrate your knowledge only increased. For example, computer science was included in the list back in 1989, since 1992 geography was included in the list, two years later - astronomy and ecology, three years later - literature, and in 2000 the first foreign language was added to the list - it became German. The last expansion in the number of subjects occurred in 2016, when schoolchildren began to compete in three more foreign languages(Spanish, Chinese and Italian).

Interesting fact: today, specialists from the Department of General Education, which is part of the structure of the Ministry of Education of the country, supervise the Olympiads in 24 subjects.

Disciplines of the All-Russian Olympiad

In the 2018/2019 academic year, Russian students will have a chance to compete for victory in the Olympiad rounds, which are held in the following school disciplines:

  • the exact sciences are represented by such disciplines as informatics and computer technology, as well as one of the "oldest" subjects - mathematics;
  • disciplines of a natural nature are represented by an extremely wide list - you can take part in a geographical, biological, astronomical, physical, chemical and environmental competition;
  • the philological direction includes competitions in the knowledge of German, English, Chinese, Spanish, French and Italian, as well as the Russian language and literature;
  • students who are inclined to the humanities can try their hand at the history Olympiad, social studies, competition in the field of law or economics;
  • in addition, the number of Olympiad subjects includes art, technology and the basics of life safety, as well as a competition for real athletes - physical culture.

Organization of the Federal Olympiad

Victory in the All-Russian Olympiad presupposes the passage of a long and difficult path, because the students will have to demonstrate their most strengths during 4 stages:

  1. School stage. This tour can be safely called the simplest one, since it is organized by the local authorities responsible for education in the city districts. In the first stage, the guys representing classes from 5th to 11th compete. Grade 4 students take part in this tour in only two subjects - Russian and Mathematics. The desire of students should not be limited in any way - anyone can become a participant in the school tour. However, you need to be prepared for the fact that the assignments will go beyond the usual program, or even represent the topics studied in high school. The winners go to the next round.
  2. Municipal stage. In this tour, participants are children from grades 7 through 11. This stage is organized by the city department of education, whose specialists set the quotas of participants for each academic discipline, draws up lists of students (taking into account the number of points that each class received in the previous stage of the Olympiad).   3. Regional stage. This level of the Olympiad is held for students who study in programs from grades 9 to 11. Participation is determined by the number of points scored in the municipal subject tour. As in the previous stage, both winners of the municipal stage of the 2018/2019 academic year and the last one can compete. In addition, the number of participants can be expanded at the expense of students who study abroad in educational institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
  4. The final stage is carried out on a national scale. The composition of the final round of the Olympiad is formed directly by specialists representing the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Pupils who have won the current and last academic period can also compete in this round. If a situation arises that in some region of the country none of the participants in the subject Olympiad was able to score the required number of points, then the Ministry of Education may agree to delegate one student who scored at least 50% of all points for the tasks of the regional round. An exception is also possible for students who actually study in grades 5-8 of the school, but wish to speak in the subject for grade 9. The winners and prize-winners of this prestigious round are awarded diplomas that certify the right to enter any universities in the country. It is necessary to comply with only two conditions - to get a school certificate and enter the specialty in the profile of the subject in which the victory was recorded. In addition, such gifted children receive a special award on behalf of the Russian government.

Quotas for participants

It is worth distinguishing between the concepts of winners and prize-winners of rounds related to the regional and federal stages. The winner is automatically the student who scored the maximum points in his subject. The prizewinner must receive points set as passing points by the Ministry of Education. In addition, the number of winners has a clearly defined quota:

  • on a regional tour, their number cannot exceed 25%;
  • on the final round there can be no more than 45%. At the same time, at this stage, the number of winners is also limited - no more than 8% of the total composition of the tour participants.

In what periods are the stages of the Olympiad?

The Olympiad covers almost the entire academic year: it begins in September and ends in the month of May. If we talk about individual stages, then in 2018/2019, as before, the following periods will be assigned:

  • the school tour runs from mid-September to the end of October.
  • the municipal tour is organized from the 20th of October to the middle of December;
  • the regional stage runs from mid-January to the end of February;
  • the final stage of the school Olympiads will be held from mid-March to mid-May.

Olympiad tasks for each subject are most often divided into two blocks - theory and practice. Of course, each of the disciplines assumes its own specifics and features of tasks, especially if it comes about the final round, so careful preparation is indispensable. If we talk in detail about some Olympiad disciplines, then we can cite the following facts:

  • the arts Olympiad will reveal the creative abilities of the student, so it’s worth "getting your hands on" and hone the technique of drawing or sculpture;
  • mathematicians are often offered trick problems that need to be solved in non-standard ways;
  • for participants in Russian language tours, out-of-competition tasks are often prepared - for example, in the form of a reasoned dispute or even writing the anthem of the Olympiad;

Support and criticism of the All-Russian Olympiads

Like any phenomenon, Olympiads have two sides. Of course, these events have enormous positive consequences, because it is they who help popularize science, identify among the students the most talented guys who, with proper support, will be able to achieve world recognition. Perelman, who won the Olympiad back in Soviet times, and then became a laureate of the European Mathematical Society Prize, as well as the Fields International Prize (for being able to solve the Poincaré hypothesis).

The All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren is a massive annual event for working with gifted schoolchildren in the Russian education system. This system covers 24 subject Olympiads for students of state, municipal and non-state educational organizations that implement educational programs of basic general and secondary general education.

The Olympiad is held during the academic year from September to May on time and includes four stages: school, municipal, regional and final. The final stage is held in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, selected on the basis of applications.

The winners and prize-winners of the final stage receive a diploma giving them the right to enter any university of the Russian Federation in the field of the Olympiad if they have a certificate without examinations and are awarded a special prize of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The organizer of the Olympiad is the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, which approves the composition of the Central Organizing Committee and the composition of the Central Subject-Methodological Commissions.

Participation in the stages of the Olympiad is determined by the Procedure for the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren (hereinafter referred to as the Procedure), approved by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia No. 1252 dated November 18, 2013 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on January 21, 2014, registration No. 31060), as amended by orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated March 17, 2015 No. 249 and dated December 17, 2015 No. 1488.

The organizer of the school stage is the local government body that administers the education sector.

The school stage of the Olympiad is held for students in grades 5-11 in 24 general subjects, as well as for grade 4 students in Russian and mathematics.

Every student who wants to participate in this intellectual competition and who is studying in one of the educational organizations of the municipality can take part in the school stage.

The parent (legal representative) of the student who has declared his participation in the Olympiad, at least 10 working days before the start of the school stage of the Olympiad, in writing confirms familiarization with the Procedure and submits to the organizer of the school stage of the Olympiad consent to publish the Olympiad work of his minor child, including in the information and communication network "Internet" if he becomes the winner or prize-winner of the Olympiad stage. When publishing in the information and communication network "Internet" the protocols of the jury and the works of the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad, the following information about the student is indicated: the name and initials of the participant of the Olympiad, class; number of points; the subject of the Russian Federation.

The organizer of the school stage ensures the collection and storage of applications from parents ( legal representatives) students who have declared their participation in the Olympiad, about familiarization with the Procedure and consent to the publication of the Olympiad works of their minor children on the Internet.

All interested persons should be informed in advance by the organizer of the school stage about the venue and the procedure for participation in the school stage of the Olympiad. Responsibility for providing the opportunity for students to participate in the school stage lies with the leaders of those educational organizations in which these students study.

If it is impossible to hold the school stage of the Olympiad in any educational organization, the organizer of the school stage is recommended to choose a site within the current organizational and technological model for holding the specified stage of the Olympiad in a constituent entity of the Russian Federation.

At the school stage of the Olympiad, the participant of the Olympiad has the right to complete tasks for a higher grade in relation to the one in which he is studying.

The quota for participation in the school stage of the Olympiad is not established.

Students of grades 7-11 take part in the municipal stage of the Olympiad.

The organizer of the municipal stage of the Olympiad is the local government body that manages the education sector.

The organizer sets the number of participants in the municipal stage of the Olympiad for each general education subject. He also forms the lists of participants in this stage of the Olympiad, setting the number of points for each general education subject and class required to participate in this stage of the Olympiad.

Individual participation in the municipal stage of the Olympiad:

Participants of the school stage of the Olympiad held in this municipality in the current academic year, who performed tasks not lower than grade 7 and scored the number of points established by the organizer;

Winners and prize-winners of the municipal stage of the Olympiad of the previous academic year, continuing their studies in organizations that carry out educational activities in educational programs basic general and secondary general education.

Students of grades 9-11 participate in the regional stage of the Olympiad:

Participants of the municipal stage of the Olympiad of the current academic year, who have scored the required number of points set by the organizer of the regional stage of the Olympiad in the subject and class;

Winners and awardees of the regional stage of the Olympiad of the previous academic year, continuing their studies in organizations that carry out educational activities in educational programs of basic general and secondary general education;

Citizens of the Russian Federation studying in grades 9-11 of organizations carrying out educational activities in educational programs of basic general and secondary general education located outside the territory of the Russian Federation, and foreign institutions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, which have specialized structural educational units in their structure.

To participate in the regional stage of the Olympiad, such students of the educational organization must be sent to the organizer of the regional stage of the Olympiad, i.e. a letter to the state authority of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation in charge of public administration in the field of education, indicating information about the students who will participate in the regional stage of the Olympiad. The constituent entity of the Russian Federation by the foreign establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation is selected independently.

Regional stage organizers

The number of participants in the final stage of the Olympiad is established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia at the suggestion of the Central Organizing Committee of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren.

Individual participation in the final stage of the Olympiad:

Participants of the regional stage of the Olympiad of the current academic year, who received the number of points required for participation in the final stage of the Olympiad, established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia;

Winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the Olympiad of the previous academic year, continuing their studies in organizations that carry out educational activities in educational programs of basic general and secondary general education.

If in any constituent entity of the Russian Federation none of the participants in the regional stage of the Olympiad scored the number of points established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia for participation in the final stage of the Olympiad, by decision of the organizer of the regional stage of the Olympiad of this constituent entity of the Russian Federation, one participant of the regional stage of the Olympiad of the current year, with the highest number of points (but not less than 50% of the number of points established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia).

Students in grades 5-8 of educational organizations who are participants in the regional stage of the Olympiad and who have gained the number of points required to participate in the final stage are allowed to participate in the final stage of the Olympiad if they performed at least in the 9th grade at the previous stages of the Olympiad. This fact should be confirmed by the final results of the regional stage of the corresponding constituent entity of the Russian Federation.
