Modern fishing: how to properly attach lures to jig heads and tie them to the line? Equipping silicone baits How to put on a silicone fish lead with a hook.

There are several options for how to plant live bait. The choice of method depends on the type of fish that you plan to catch: each prey requires its own methods. It is important to follow a number of rules to make your fishing more efficient.

Harvesting marine predators using this method is available for most of the year. You don't have to spend money on bait: you can catch fry on your own. This is a passive fishing method: if you fix the gear, you can leave it overnight or for several days.

Correct placement of live bait

Live bait can be planted in different ways. Let's consider the main methods.

By the tail

It is convenient to attach the bait by the tail when there are no additional weights. This method is good because it does not interfere with the movement of the fry. There is also a drawback: the bait floats head down, which may not attract the attention of a predator. This technique is poorly suited for catching pike that grabs its prey in the middle of the body. There are 2 options for such a nozzle.

  1. The hook does not pierce the fish. A special small rubber band is put on the tail of the fry, under which a hook should be placed. The elastic can be replaced with fishing line or thread.
  2. Damage to the bait is suspected. The hook is pushed in upper part ponytail in front of the fin. The tip should come out on the other side of the fish.

For the lip

This method of planting live bait is suitable if you plan to catch pike or catfish. Pros:

  • Doesn't harm bait.
  • Malek remains active for a long time.

You can crochet one lip or both at once. The fish should be caught in the same way as the predator when it is caught.

Behind the back

Bait bait attachment behind the dorsal fin is considered a classic method. This is how they usually put live bait on the girder. The advantage is the natural body position of the fry, which increases the catch. This is how they catch pike, perch, pike perch. With the help of live bait, planted behind the back, you can fish in reservoirs with a weak current.

You need to pierce the fin with a crochet. It is important not to hurt the muscle tissue, as this will interfere with the movement of the fish and reduce its lifespan. Experienced fishermen recommend choosing the angle of inclination of the bait head in the range from 30 to 45 °: this way the position of the body of the bait will look as natural as possible. In addition, the fry will remain active for a long time.

It is convenient to catch fish fixed in this way bottom method... This option is also suitable for fishing through the hole.

Under the gills

The method of thrusting through the gills is suitable when fishing for live bait on a double. The hook piercing the gills reliably fixes the live bait, does not limit its motor activity. The fish, however, will quickly die, since it is vital important organ will be damaged; the likelihood of causing injury to the bait is high. In addition, the implementation of such insertion will be difficult for beginners.

The leash should be held under the gills so that the loop is at the bait in the mouth. A hook is inserted into the loop. After that, you need to pull until the hook is in the fish's mouth.

An important rule of thumb is to use a soft leash. If it is too tough, the fish will behave unnaturally, which can scare off the predator.

Hook attachment rules

The main mistakes when using live bait is a rare change of bait. The predator is of little interest to the dead fish, which will lead to a decrease in the catch or its absence. It is important to choose the right nozzle method. It is recommended that you check the fish before each set.

To attach live bait, you can use a single hook, double hook or tee. Each of these options has its own characteristics, rules of use.

It is recommended to put on a single hook through the nostril or piercing both lips. It is not worth fastening behind the back in this way, since the bait often breaks off. The disadvantage of this type of hook is a large number of idle bites: the predator can capture the fish, while not being caught, it often breaks down.

Double

Double bait hooks secure live bait securely. However, they are less rough than the triple option, which reduces the likelihood of injury to the bait. It is recommended to use a double when inserting through the gills.

Tee

This option is only suitable for medium-sized bait: it will be clearly visible on a fish that is too small, which will scare away the desired prey. The disadvantage of the tee is the frequent refusal of the predator, which stuck on the hook, from further attacks on the bait.

What types of fish are preferable to use as live bait

It is necessary to find out not only how to properly plant live bait, but also what types of bait are suitable for catching predators.

When fishing for pike perch and perch, preference should be given to baits with a narrow body. Ruff, gudgeon, loach, minnow, pinch, bleak will do. Pike and catfish can also be caught with lure with a wide body: rudd, roach, crucian carp.

Crucian carp, ruff and gudgeon will remain active for a long time. In summer it is better to use them as bait. In winter, when predators bite pretty well on a dead live bait, quickly dying bleak, roach and rudd can become bait.

You need to pick up those types of fish as bait that predators are used to eating in a separate reservoir. Predatory fish will bite better if the live bait is its usual food. Predators often refuse unfamiliar food. Already caught prey will help to determine the usual diet: in the stomach there are often remnants of previous meals that have not had time to digest, by which it is possible to determine the species that predatory fish feed on in a given territory.

The advantage of the ruff as bait is its prickleness. A predator that has received a crochet prick most often continues its attack, believing that it has pricked itself against a fish.

By the nature of my activity, I have to communicate quite often with different fishermen ...

And from conversations I understand with surprise that a fairly large number of people still do not know how to properly mount the bait on an offset hook.

It would seem that there is so much talk about offset hooks, so many articles ... but if you think about it, I have not seen a simple article with photographs - how to put the bait on an offset hook correctly.

Well, we fill this gap. Below is my personal opinion on the offset topic. I do not insist on one hundred percent disclosure of this topic, I will just share my personal experience.

Offset Hooks - A Brief Theory on Offsetters.

"Offsetnik" is in Russian fishing jargon. Derived from the English "offset hook".

Basically, rubber (silicone baits) - twisters, vibrating tails, etc. are mounted on offset hooks.

Here is a classic view of mounted bait on an offset hook.(do not remember, the installation is wrong)

The task of the offset hook is to ensure the installation of a soft bait in a non-catching version. That is, it is for baits - "non-hooks".

Offset workers have problems with fish detection.

Many scold offset hooks :

Some fishermen DO NOT catch snags, but fish are also not spotted

And for some, on the contrary - solid holds.

In fact, if you mount the offset hook correctly, then the fish will be detected "as it should" - rarely catch snags, and fish - accurately.

Practice - How to put rubber on an offset hook correctly.

Here are two offset crochet hooks from the same manufacturer. Only the series are different. Can you spot the differences?

Well, yes, they are slightly different in size ... but in our example, this is insignificant.

Another thing is fundamentally important!

Take a look at the difference between these offset workers:

See where the offset hook sting is looking!

At hook # 1, the sting looks clearly on the forend ... And at the hook number 2 - a little higher.

And this little difference creates a huge difference in bait mounting and hookability!

Look, I took a twister with a thin body and put it on the offset # 2:

As you can see - the sting sticks out!

And no matter how you try to lift the twister up, it will still stick out. So - cling to driftwood.

But the same twister is on hook # 1

Everything is perfect - the offset hook lies flat on the body of the twister without sticking out.

So what - offset hook # 2 - wrong?

NO! It's just for other rubber. For twisters and vibro-tails with a "taller" body!

Like this:

Remember this difference and you will be able to choose an offset hook for a specific rubber already in the store.

Of course, there are other nuances of offset workers, like the bend of the forend, the shape of the hook itself, the width of the eyelet, the thickness of the wire and so on, but you understand the main subtlety.

So, step by step we put the twister on the offset hook:

Step 1: we pierce the twister from the end. We introduce it inward and bend it at a right angle (marked with a red line).

Why do we make such a bend? We are simply repeating the (Z-shaped) curvature of the front segment of the offset hook shank.

It turns out like this:

Step 2: Stretch the twister to the forend of the hook, repeating the Z-shaped bend, pull it to the "eyelet"

Step 3. Trying on a twister for a hook (in fact, this had to be done in advance)

We need to understand - where it is better to pierce the body of the twister.

The red line indicates the proposed puncture site.

BUT! Rubber is hard and soft.

AND by changing the puncture site, we can tighten or loosen the installation of the twister on the offset hook.

It is important!

If the rubber is tough, and even pull it tight, it will be difficult for the fish to push the rubber.

And if the rubber is soft, and you put it on without stretching, then any touch of the snag threatens with a hook.

Step 4. We pierce the twister.

BUT! Pierce perpendicular to the body of the twister (puncture direction shown in red)

Why? Just look at how the twister is then positioned and you will understand ...

Well, actually, the twister is wearing an offset hook. It's very simple, isn't it?

We check the quality of the installation of the offset printer:

When you run your finger along the body of the twister, it should not cling

With light pressure on the body of the twister, it should bend.

Installation errors:

Sticking the hook into the body of the twister is not worth it!

When biting, there is a pressure on the twister. And he must push through, releasing the tip of the offset hook.

And if you stick the tip of the hook into the body of the twister, can the hook pierce rubber and fish? Is not a fact…

Well, if you want the sting to be hidden in the body of the bait, then you can cut a small groove in the body of the rubber for the hook.

I don't really like this solution, but many people do it.

By the way, there are also factory silicone lures with grooves on the back :

On the issue of piercing - some fishermen do "No hook" from a jig head ... Like this:

In my opinion - this is complete garbage.

If the sting is hidden in the body, it will be difficult to detect the fish. If the sting sticks out, then this is not a non-hook at all ...

And here's another - classic shape of offset hooks ... But I absolutely do not like:

Or I don’t understand something ... but for correct mounting the body of the bait must be very high.

But if it is high, then its lower part will lie on the hook. So?

Then, when biting, where will the rubber be pressed?

In general, I do not use and do not recommend it.

To bend the offset hook or not?

If the silicone bait does not want to be beautifully mounted on the offset hook, then you can bend the offset hook itself (point the sting slightly down)

This does not add strength to the offset man, so I did not advise you to do this :)

But as an extreme option - bend ...

What kind of offset crochet hooks do I like?

For example - the shape of the hook, which in examples with # 1 and 2.

They are produced by many firms. I try not to save on offset hooks, I take quality Owner, Gamakatsu.

Although sometimes Korean offset makers are very decent.

Here's another cool form. The sting of the hook will clearly lie on the body of the bait, even if it snuggles slightly.

On the use of offset hooks.

Offsetters open up new opportunities! Catch where you used to be afraid

First, of course the jig. Jig is fishing on the bottom, on the relief.

And as a rule, it turns out like this: driftwood = predator, sharp edge = predator ... well, you know ... It happens that without an offset hook anywhere.

There is even foam fish on an offset hook... Firm Contact, already equipped. A great option.

And if the water is shallow, and the grass clings to the "cheburashka" ... That is, another option for mounting the offset printer:

Pay attention to the offset hook weight! In such an installation, there is practically nothing to cling to! and it turns out a complete all-terrain vehicle!

Or there is an American exotic in my collection - mixture of jig head and offset:

In our stores you will hardly find .... Why Russian "master of lead" can not make the same and sell to the masses? Although here the offset hook needs a special one ...

Or here's another classic universal :

And if he aimed at a large pike ... then the bait is larger:

I almost forgot!

About various leash rigs! Just in Offset hooks are mainly used on the diverter leash.

Moreover, as a rule, of a very small size (especially in competitions where the bet is made on perch).

In general, the offset hook can be used almost everywhere where soft baits are used (rubber, silicone, foam ...).

Even your favorite catchy turntable can be protected from snags :

(although after such tuning, will it remain interesting for chub and asp? But I don’t catch on turntables, so this photo is just for example)

I hope my article helped someone learn a little more about offset crochet hooks.

Good luck fishing!

Jig heads are designed for loading spinning lures. Despite the seeming simplicity of these sinkers, from correct selection in many respects depends on the bite of the predator. Therefore, the angler's spinning box should have a rich assortment of weight heads of various masses and shapes.

Types of jig heads

All weight-heads for spinning fishing can be divided into two types:

  • combined with a hook;
  • cast separately.

The simplest option is the head molded with the hook. Such models are called jig heads. They are large and heavy jigs equipped with a ring and a retainer. The ring is located at right angles to the fore-end, and the stopper prevents the soft bait from sliding and turning.

Jig head clamps can be of the following types:

  • thorn (needle);
  • mushroom (umbrella);
  • arrow.

Difference in shape

Jig heads can have a wide variety of shapes. Their names largely explain the appearance:

  • rugby (ball);
  • "Excavator";
  • fish head;
  • bullet;
  • spoon;
  • ski;
  • boot;
  • banana;
  • vanka-vstanka;
  • horseshoe.

The head weight can be made without a hook. Then a swivel joint is used to connect the sinker and the hook. The individual heads are manufactured in three types:

  • eared sinker ("cheburashka");
  • lentils.

Despite the variety of jig head shapes, the main parameter for selection is weight. It is the weight of the sinker and the bait that determines the horizon of the rig's passage.

For fishing in stagnant and shallow reservoirs, heads weighing 1-15 g are used.When river fishing, as well as in reservoirs with great depths (more than 5 m), jig heads weighing up to 40 g are required.

Non-engaging jig heads

When predatory fish eats in thickets of aquatic vegetation, snags, near fallen trees, non-hooks come to the aid of the fisherman. Some head shapes (spoon, rugby, horseshoe, boot) catch less often due to the vertical position of the hook when dropped and stepped wiring. Other jig heads are elongated (banana, ski), thereby reducing the likelihood of side hook.

To give the jig head additional protective qualities from hooks, wire "guards" are installed, which are easily squeezed by the mouth of the fish, exposing the sting of the hook. The number of empty bites becomes more, but it is possible to keep the bait from breaking off.

Equipment options

Offset hook twisters with "cheburashka" as a jig head

Depending on the type of weight-head and the type of hook used different variants installation. How to attach the bait to the hook correctly:

  1. The jig head, combined with the hook, allows you to easily and quickly bait soft bait on the hook. To do this, you need to choose a jig head and a silicone fish so that the hook comes out near the dorsal fin of the fish.
  2. The jig can be done on an offset hook. To do this, the sting of the hook is inserted through the "mouth" of the bait and brought out under lower jaw... Now the soft fish is pulled through the entire hook, and the sting is pierced through the abdomen. The hook can be pulled out at the top of the lure so that the sting is parallel to the back and snuggles against it.
  3. For mounting the bait on double hook it is necessary to combine it with the bait and mark the exit point of the hooks. Now you need to pierce this place, push the double apart and insert the bait into the eye of the hook. Further, the ear is pressed in the center into the body towards the head. The ear is pulled out, after which the bait on the hook gets better.
  4. To equip the tee with soft bait, a tube may be needed to punch a neat hole. The hole is made approximately behind the gills, but this depends on the size of the tee and the bait. An eyelet is inserted into the hole and stretched centrally towards the mouth. Now you need to stretch the bait and pull out one hook on the other side. Again, you need to carefully stretch the fish and pass the upper sting through the back. The short hook can be lengthened using a piece of wire, one end is attached to the eye of the hook, and the other is removed from the bait and mounted to the weight-head.

Jig heads can be used not only with soft baits, but also with lures, wobblers and spinnerbaits. It is important to correctly mount the bait, to accurately select the weight of the entire rig. Then the bait will work seductively in the right layer of water, and the predatory fish will not ignore it.

The vibrotail is still one of the most competitive lures today, allowing you to successfully catch all types of freshwater predatory fish... But as in any important business, the result of which depends on the performance of many consecutive effective operations in the aggregate bringing overall success, and fishing is just such a variant of it, fishing with a vibrotail has a number of nuances.

It is about one of such nuances, and in particular, how to mount the vibrotail, today we will talk and try to make out the main points of its competent execution.

Silicone jig baits are varied in their shapes and types, and also differ in the size and density of the material. All these factors should be taken into account during installation. How to put a silicone bait on a hook, throw it into the water and expect a successful bite is simply unreasonable. First of all, the fisherman must understand that it is possible to equip the vibrotail with various types of hooks, single, offset, double, tee, and it depends on the fishing conditions, the intensity of the bites and the type of fish that the angler is counting on. The easiest way to plant a vibrotail seems to be on.

Important! Choose the place where the broad back of the vibrotail transitions to its narrow tail. This transition point should be the point where the tip of the hook exits the body of the attachment.

With a sting, we pierce the vibrotail at the location of the mouth of the artificial fish and string its body until the sting of the hook reaches the exit point we have chosen to the surface. We bring the tip in the back of the artificial fish to half the rounding of the jig head hook. This is the end of the installation.

Important! The jig head hook should correspond to the size of the vibrotail from the fish's mouth to the point where the tip of the hook comes out to the surface of the back of the nozzle.

Jig head selection

Initially, it is worth choosing a jig head based on a combination of three factors:

  • hook size;
  • head mass;
  • the size of the bait.

I explain that large silicone will require a long forend, but not always a large weight of the head weight, because this factor depends on the fishing conditions and on the depth of the reservoir.

Correct silicone attachment on the offset bag

It is not much more difficult to correctly attach the vibrotail to the offset printer. This installation is successfully used for catching a predator in zagruzhennye areas of water bodies. Taking the offset holder in our hands, we pass it into the fish's mouth and remove the sting of the hook under the lower part of the vibrotail head. Then we stretch the hook along the body of the fish and pierce the silicone belly to its back from the inside through and through. We bring the offset sting strictly parallel to the back of the nozzle, trying to press the tip to the body of the vibrotail as tightly as possible. Installation is over. A silicone fish is mounted on a single hook without much difficulty, which cannot be said about mounting on a double and a tee.

Equipping a vibrotail with a double

Requires selection of a hook with a long handguard. Putting a vibrotail on a jig with just this type of twin greatly simplifies the task.

As in the case of mounting on a single type of hook, we determine the point for piercing the bait, only now it will not be the point where the tip exits, but the place where the double ring is inserted into the body of the nozzle and the point will not be on the back, but on the side. Slightly pushing the hooks of the double apart, we pierce the fish through the side with one hook and string the silicone along the entire forend. As a result, it turns out that the vibrotail will hang with its back between the two hooks of the twin. Then, pressing the ring into the body of the bait towards its mouth, we pass the silicone through until the fastening ring comes out of the body of the fish. Installation is almost complete, it remains only to straighten the nozzle to the length of the entire hook shank so that it gets its original geometric dimensions and does not undergo deformation.

Important! The deformed bait has a much more negative effect on the quality of its play during postings.

In most cases, deformations of the silicone bait arise from an incorrectly defined puncture site and from an incorrectly selected length of the shank of the jigger hook. With a sluggish bite, uncertain bites and frequent gatherings, it is reasonable to equip the jig bait using a tee in the installation. This mounting option increases the chances of spotting a cautious and fastidious predator.

Read also about fishing and the correct selection of bait depending on the fishing conditions.

Equipped with a tee

To equip vibro-tails with triple hooks, you will need additional unpretentious equipment in the form of a metal or plastic tube with a diameter of no more than five millimeters. The length of 2 cm is sufficient. The tube should be one and a half times larger than the thickness of the mounted silicone bait. This device is needed in order to make a through hole in the body of the vibrotail on the side for mounting the tee.

Important! The hole should be of the optimum diameter based on the size of the tee. A small hole will not allow the installation of the tee hooks symmetrically, and a large hole by increasing the tee backlash during wiring will worsen the quality of the play of the nozzle.

As in the first wiring diagrams, marking is made to determine the point of the required hole. The length of the tee's forend, excluding the fastening loop, will be our main reference point. We pierce the vibrotail with a pre-prepared tube, since silicone is a flexible material for these manipulations. Next, in the hole made towards the mouth of the fish inside the body of the bait, we pass a triple hook through the front with a fastening ring. Stretching the hole previously made by the tube, we transfer the first sting of the tee to the opposite side of the artificial fish.

With the second sting, we pierce the back through the same hole, bringing the tip parallel to the back of the silicone, and the third hook is left without any manipulation. In principle, the installation of the vibrating tail on the tee can be considered complete. The disadvantages of this installation is its rather low permeability in fishing areas with vegetation. The best way to use silicone baits on tees is in clean areas of the reservoir.

The importance of equipping a vibrotail when fishing

The ability to correctly, competently and effectively equip the vibrotails with different types of hooks allows you to use broader strategies when catching a predator. After all, such types of equipment, excluding only the attachment of a vibrotail on one-piece jig heads, make it possible to use silicone baits in conjunction with replaceable hinged weights, the so-called Cheburashka among fishermen, as well as when fishing with a bombard under various fishing conditions. Equipping a vibrotail with an offset hook, double and tee can be safely called universal. After all, by manipulating the load of the Cheburashka and the bombard float by type and mass, the bait can be used at different depths and at the same time perform different kinds postings.

Well, by changing the types of hooks, it can be successfully caught in overgrown and snagged areas of the reservoir and with the passiveness of the predator. Therefore the arsenal fishing lures If you are interested in catching freshwater predators, you should include all the types of mounting discussed above. After all, the harvested rigs at home will save precious time on fishing, increase the angler's capabilities in the successful outcome of fishing, even in spite of the prevailing conditions of the fishing session.

There is a wide variety of baits, one of the most popular today is maggots, but many beginners have no idea how to hook maggots. But the effectiveness of the bait and the quantity with the quality of the catch depend on this. After all, improperly planted bait will overeat with fish, leaving you with nothing, and in the worst case, it will go completely unnoticed. But how to properly put maggot on the hook and how to effectively combine it with various tackles and baits? Is it possible to use it to catch live bait and what you need to know when using maggots as complementary foods?

What is it and how to plant it

Maggot is practically a universal bait, which, with due experience, can catch any kind of fish, because this bait is as loved by them as ordinary earthworms.
all thanks to the considerable activity of the bait, whose body, wriggling, begins to emit a special bouquet of smells, and those, in turn, lure all the fish in the area. Both predators and peaceful fish, which begins to lack plant food in the fall and winter. Of course, the effectiveness of your fishing even with such a bait will still be questionable if you do not know how to hook maggots correctly. It depends on many factors, from the type of rod to the type of hook you are using.

But the main factors on which the behavior of the bait on the hook depends are:

  • the size of the catch that the fisherman is counting on, because when catching big fish you can plant a whole bunch of maggots, and if you just need to lure the fish, then one larva will be enough;
  • the type of hook that is used;
  • from the chosen fishing spot, this affects the tackle that you need, and, accordingly, how to use the bait;
  • from the way you are going to fish, since the attachment for a spinning rod and for an ordinary fishing rod will be different: in the first case, you need to fix the bait firmly, and in the second - so that it lures as many fish as possible.

But a high-quality maggot bait depends primarily on the hook itself, and there are several points that inexperienced fishermen simply do not pay attention to, which leads to ineffective use of the larvae as bait.

To avoid such consequences, your tackle must meet the following requirements:

Basic ways

As noted earlier, there are many ways of packing, and they depend on many factors. The task of any fisherman is to choose the most effective ones for their purposes and to know as many different variations as possible in order to be able to use them at any time.

So, the most popular are:

Classic

Perform it as follows:

  1. The maggot larva, firmly gripped in the hands, should not be strongly squeezed, otherwise, when put on a hook, it may burst and lose its shape.
  2. Dress the bait in such a way that the hook only goes under the skin, without catching the insides. There is a trick for this - with the help of the forend of the hook, the skin of the larva is slightly pulled, after which it is pierced with a quick and easy movement.
  3. Then there is an optional step, but if your goal is fry or similar future bait, then before putting the larva on the hook, it should be slightly trimmed. Thus, you can catch roach, crucian carp and even perch with perch.

Nozzle along

And if you need to catch just a large individual, then this method is perfect, because when the maggot is put on in this way, you can catch both a large carp and a saberfish with asp, and all due to the fact that as soon as the fish swallowed the bait, planted thus, she will not be able to leave.

For such an effect, it is enough to perform just a couple of actions:

  1. The hook is inserted starting from the thick side of the maggots.
  2. And they hatch, starting from its middle, and you need to be very careful, because if you damage the insides or burst the larva, then it will become not at all attractive to any fish in the area.

Through the middle

This method is taken from professional fishermen of any caliber, and it was invented at one of the world tournaments. Its main difficulty lies in the almost jewelry work with the bait, which must be done with the main rule - not to touch the insides, otherwise the maggot again turns into an unnecessary lump of protein for the fish. But if you execute such a nozzle correctly and with the proper attitude, then it can bring a fabulous catch even for beginners. But it's best to practice before fishing at home, as things may not turn out very smoothly the first time.

So, you will need:

  1. Grasp the larva firmly, while holding it horizontally.
  2. Next, we string the maggot on a hook right in the middle of its body and try to do it so that only its skin is affected, and not the whole body.

The main advantage of such a bait: free and active movements of the bait, which adds naturalness to it and even more attracts fish. With proper skill in this way, you can catch small fish like a perch or gobies, which, trying to swallow maggots with their large mouth, immediately catch on the hook of the rod.

For fishing with a lead

As it is easy to understand from the name, this method is necessary when using the appropriate tackle, the main drawback of which is often the ease of catching on various debris at the bottom. If this happens, then you will lose not only the bait, but also most of the equipment, and therefore everything should be prepared in advance to avoid such an outcome.

It is enough to attach the bait as follows:

  1. Lay the maggots head up in an upright position.
  2. Pass the hook through it, starting from the head and ending with the tail, but do not squeeze too hard so that it does not burst.
  3. You can continue to plant the larvae on this hook as long as its size allows. Thus, it will be possible to attract the largest individuals, often living at the bottom of reservoirs. And the dense nozzle will not allow the forend to cling to the algae.

Characteristics of the bait

Maggot is a very popular bait that is particularly versatile and allows you to catch a variety of fish at any time of the year. Very often it is used in the form of a kind of sandwich with bloodworms, which arouses the strongest interest in large fish... However, many novice fishermen do not know how to properly hook maggots, so instead of the expected success, they will be disappointed.

If placed incorrectly, the fish will simply ignore the bait, or easily rip it off the hook. Also, an incorrectly threaded maggot will quickly die, turning from an attractive bait into a lump that is not attractive to fish. In order to prevent such consequences, it is important to understand in advance the main aspects of this, at first glance, uncomplicated action.

As for the bait itself, it is a fly fly larva, the size of which does not exceed 12 millimeters. Its body is white and has a thickened front. Despite its relatively large size, the creature leads a very fast and mobile lifestyle, making its way into absolutely any crevices. In most cases, fishermen buy grubs from fishing shops or search in rotting meat and manure. In addition, you can grow it yourself, providing the appropriate conditions.

To improve the efficiency of the bait, many masters fishing change the color of her body. Therefore, it will be useful for a beginner to know how to paint maggots in red, this is exactly what is attractive to fish.

As for the peculiarities of fitting, it is important here to act carefully and carefully. If the larva is planted incorrectly, it will quickly lose its entrails and die, ceasing to attract fish.

As mentioned above, the fly fly larva is a versatile bait that is effective for different fish and at different times. The twisting movements of the body and the specific smell are very attractive for river dwellers, and not only peaceful, but also predators, including perch or pike perch. And when wondering how to put maggot on a hook, it is important to carefully study all aspects and take into account the advice of experienced fishermen.

Three ways of insertion

It is always very interesting to fish for the fly fly larva. But for beginners, it can be difficult to hook the bait, because they do not know how to do it.

In turn, experienced masters practice There are three main methods of planting maggots:

  1. Classical.
  2. Along, or "stocking" In this case, all parts of the body are threaded.
  3. Through the middle.

You can also use the sandwich method and vice versa.

In carrying out the task, it is necessary to pay Special attention a thick "head" with two small "eyes" - black dots, because in this place the bait is denser and will be able to stay on the hook much longer.

When going fishing, most modern anglers go to a specialty store. This is the optimal solution, but it has drawbacks: sometimes they are not available, and the cost is higher than expected. For this reason, a number of amateurs choose other methods:

  1. Obtain from a dead animal or rotting meat.
  2. Breeding at home.

To get maggots you need to know where they are found. In most cases, they look for bait in village toilets, under a layer of manure, as well as in places where meat or fish waste is dumped. And although this method of finding larvae is not entirely attractive, the result is worth it. It is important to understand that it is not necessary to poke around in dung or meat. It is enough to collect the larvae with a scoop or spatula in a bucket and cover them with sand or sawdust. After a short period of time, you can get completely clean maggots.

Concerning breeding of meat fly larvae at home, it is not difficult and quite doable, except for the dissatisfaction of others with a bad smell. Today, several methods of breeding maggots are practiced:

Fish sandwich

It's no secret that bait works great as a sandwich when combined with many other foods, including corn, worms, bloodworms and barley. You can combine with different ingredients, putting several on one hook.

The most effective combination is maggot plus worm, which is excellent at attracting different types of fish. In this case, you need to know how to properly hook the worm so that it looks attractive with the larva.

Another good "sandwich" is maggot and pearl barley... It can be used when fishing in places with intense currents, where crucian carp, silver bream, borer and carp will be excellent.

The most common version of the maggot plus bloodworm sandwich, which demonstrates amazing performance at any time of the year. In this case, almost any fish that is in the reservoir will bite.

If you string the selected ingredients on the hook correctly, it will give you an unforgettable bite with a trophy outcome.

Dyeing bait

Maggots with natural white color are attractive to fish, but in some conditions they are almost invisible. To solve the problem, fishermen change the color of the body of the bait to green, red or any other. Of course, you can buy a colored maggot in the store, but it is not difficult to give the desired color yourself.

The red larvae are especially effective. It is quite simple to give this color. Cope with the task how to paint maggot red even a beginner fisherman can. Among the existing methods for changing body color, the following should be highlighted:

  1. Crushed red worms should be placed in the soil with maggots.
  2. You can mix red brick powder or grated red beets into the feed.
  3. You can grind the bloodworms and add to the container with maggots.
  4. Carefully grate the carrots and squeeze, feed the cake to the larvae.

It is enough to wait a few hours to notice the color change. In addition to changing the color, the smell of the larva can be enhanced. To do this, you need to spray the container where the maggots are located with a special flavoring. It is better to use vanilla or anise as they are most attractive to fish.

Storage conditions

If after a trip to a body of water there are many live maggots left, or after purchasing the bait it was not possible to go fishing, the larvae can be saved until the next time. Their lifespan is determined by the temperature regime, the characteristics of the substrate and the container where storage will be carried out. The following conditions must be met:

Fly larvae are excellent bait for fishing. With its help, you can catch a couple of real trophies even under the most unfavorable fishing conditions. However, in order for the next fishing to be successful, it is important to clarify in advance all the intricacies of planting, breeding and storing the larvae. Otherwise, the expected success from catching may not be.

Bait for catching crucian carp of animal origin: types, features, when to use

First, let's look at what types of animal bait for crucian carp are common:

  • Timeless classics. It's hard to imagine even one float fishing without this bait. However, the earthworm there is a fellow animal in the order - the dung worm, which is "more successful" than its neighbor. This bait is suitable for beginners, since the worm is common, if you wish, it will not be a problem to dig the worm yourself near the shore or buy it from a fishing store. It is applied at any time of the day and month of the fishing season.

  • Another of three float fishing hits. More suitable for smaller specimens, but has one huge plus - "survival on the hook", unlike a worm and bloodworm, maggot holds on quite tightly and can serve a long service, which is especially useful when catching a frisky fish and will make life easier for beginners, since often for them the attachment of a new bait is a problem. If you live far from the city and it is problematic to get maggots, you can use the following advice. Take a piece of meat or fish. In the case of fish, you will need to remove the scales. Position them so that they do not interfere with neighbors and are difficult for cats and dogs to reach. Make small incisions in them and leave them on for 3-5 days. After the specified period, you will receive ready-made maggots.

  • There are many anglers who believe that crucian carp should only be caught with bloodworms... There is a reason for this, since often this fish bites only on him. It is best to plant a large bloodworm through the head, so it will retain its vitality longer. If it is small, then you can use the "sandwich" method, which will be described below.

  • If you want to catch the approval of your hobby mates or break the old record, use it. Topmelt is best suited for fishing for crucian carp on live bait. Despite its size, it has a number of advantages: survivability and the same habitat as crucian carp. In the absence of top-melting, you can also use the smallest crucian carp. Live bait fishing is most suitable for fishing in the spring and / or at night, since at this time the water temperature is low, and large crucian carp rises higher, where upper melts are the main diet of large fish.

How to prepare worms for crucian carp fishing

If you want to achieve great results, pre-prepare the worm before fishing.

It will not be superfluous, at least, to moisturize the worm so that it does not lose its activity during fishing, You can also add birch sawdust or grass to the bait storage container a few hours before fishing to remove unpleasant odors.

Methods of "preserving" the worm in flavorings are also possible. To do this, you need to use a plastic container, in which you need to put a cotton rag soaked in additives. It is good to add anise oil and vanilla to the worm. On top of the rag and the worms themselves, put herbs and add a little water, then leave the entire container for 12 hours in a cool place and away from sunlight.

How to properly hook a worm

There are several ways to plant a worm, let's look at a few of them.

  • Planting a worm with a "stocking"... With this method, the bait is put on along, through the center of one of the ends of the worm. As a result, it envelops the entire hook, as it were, forming a stocking. At the end, it is recommended to strip the tip of the hook for a better bite.
  • Planting worms in a bunch... In this method, several worms are taken and pierced through the core, ultimately creating a bundle of several pieces that looks attractive to the fish.
  • In pieces. In this case, you are tearing the worm into small pieces by placing it on the hook through the core. The secret of this method is that in the water they spread a smell that actively attracts fish.
  • Puncture in three places... For this method, a large specimen is taken, in which three punctures are made: at one end, in the middle and at the other end. The advantages of this method are that the worm exhibits maximum mobility, luring the desired trophy.

Catching crucian carp for maggot

Features of catching crucian carp on maggot

Catching crucian carp with maggot differs little from catching with worm. However, there are several aspects worth paying attention to.

First of all, do not forget to update the maggot, over time it becomes unusable, and you will notice that only the shell remains of the bait. In this case, remove it and plant a new one.

Maggot eventually rolls onto the line, which makes such a bait useless, to eliminate this problem, you can hang a cambric stopper at the place where the hook is attached to the line. The hook remains open when fishing for maggot.

Planting live bait

  • Under the upper fin. The most common way is to put live bait under the upper fin. Its main advantages are simplicity of execution and long-term mobility of fish in water. You puncture the bottom of the upper fin, preferably moving the center of gravity towards the tail.
  • Under the lip. You firmly attach the bait to the upper lip on a special hook with the tip up, and then cast it into a deep place in the reservoir. Remember to make sure the fry stays alive.
  • Under the gills. For this method, you need a double hook. You pass the empty leash through the fish's mouth, out the gills. Be careful, as it is very easy to kill live bait with this method of insertion. Ideally, the double ring should stick out a little from the fish's mouth.

What is the best bait to catch crucian carp in the summer

In summer, fish prefers animal bait,
because they have more nutrients than in plant species.

However, it is worth noting that the presented baits are also suitable for fishing at other times of the year.

When choosing them, it is worth considering the characteristics of the reservoir and the desired size of the fish.

Conclusion

Relying on personal experience and the experience of other fishermen, it is worth noting that crucian carp is a capricious fish and can behave unpredictably... He may refuse to peck at a certain type of bait, regardless of the weather or time of day.

Worm nozzle rules

There are three basic rules for attaching a worm:

  • It is required to plant in such a way that it remains mobile and alive, that is, attractive to fish;
  • The worm and the hook must be proportionate, so the size of the bait is matched to the size of the hook. This is necessary so that the fish does not fall off, and the bait does not jump off;
  • Each worm must be planted on the entire hook, since the fish with such a nozzle will swallow it whole.

For large individuals, you can plant several worms at once, as this will increase the chances of positive result catch. Slicing is used for small fish, but the catch is reduced due to loss of mobility. For this type of bait, you can use the combination in the bait with porridge.

This bait is used for:

Each type of worm is used for a specific fish:

  • Earthworms are used to catch carp, they are pierced below the base of the head, after which the piercing gradually moves down to the tail, while the sting is reliably hidden in the remnants of the tail (four centimeters);
  • Crawling in a beam bait is used to catch catfish. Several individuals are put on the hook in a looped way through the middle of the body, with this type of puncture, small fish will not bite;
  • They catch bream on bunches of dung worms;
  • When fishing for carp, red dungworms are suitable, which are best kept in mint or herbs until fishing, which will allow them to get a seductive aroma for carp. At the same time, red dung worms are planted in small pieces.

The use of bait or bait also depends on the nature of fishing:

  • when catching predatory fish species, worms are combined with fish pieces or crawling parts;
  • for non-predatory fish, the worm is combined with maggots, pearl barley or corn porridge.

The correct attachment is distinguished by:

  • Punctures begin at the base of the head;
  • The hook is inserted under the skin. The base of the hook should be thin and short, preferably half the length of the bait. With a full attachment, the first puncture is made one and a half centimeters from the head. At the end of the punctures, the sting hides in the body of the worm, not reaching the tail, which dangles freely.

Fitting methods

There are a lot of mounting methods, while there is one feature that applies to any method:

  • when fishing for small fish, the sting closes completely;
  • when catching large individuals, it is not necessary to completely close the sting.

The rest of the process will be divided only by the number of worms.

The most common ways to hook a single worm onto a hook are:

  • Piercing along, with this method, it fits over the entire length of the hook and part of the fishing line;
  • Lumpy nozzle. The worm is divided into several parts, after which all its parts are put on the hook in order. This method is most often used in a simple fishing rod with a float;
  • Eight. It is a nozzle in which the worm forms loop shapes. Two different ends of the bait diverge on different sides, while the whole hook is occupied;
  • Alive and wriggling. With this method, the bait is put on the hook with the help of several punctures, the adjacent punctures have small gaps between them, which allow the bait to wriggle, which will attract large fish.
  • Attaching to the tackle. The individual is strung on the base of the longest hook, which has several stings. In this case, each sting remains open;
  • Exit to the line. The bait is pulled onto the line fiber located above the hook base. This method is used when fishing for restless fish, since the hook is completely hidden, which allows the fish to swallow it whole and not break off.

Lively and wriggling - with this method, the bait is put on the hook with the help of several punctures

Planting several worms

The beam nozzle has the following features:

  • several worms are put on the hook in various ways;
  • after the beam form has turned out, the tackle is slowly lowered into the water;
  • this method is suitable for catching large fish.

With this type of fishing, it is necessary to look so that the bundle is not immersed in silt at the bottom of the reservoir. This is due to the fact that the "bundle" is required to be used only for float types of fishing.

Where to find worms

Worms prefer dark, humid places, for example:

  • under the logs;
  • in manure;
  • damp pits;
  • garden humus.

In rural settings, bait can be found quite easily, but in urban settings you can buy worms in the store.

Every angler should remember that the bait should be taken in more quantities than it may be required. This is due to the fact that:

  • Any fish can be caught with the worm. This type of bait is versatile;
  • With a good bite, the bait may simply not be enough.

Storing the tip

You can store the nozzle in almost any container, the main thing is to follow a few rules:

  • The container must have a lid with a small hole or holes through which the inside will flow Fresh air... Thanks to this, the attractiveness of the bait will remain for a long time;
  • The lid must be closed tightly, since worms can crawl out;
  • Before collecting the bait, the container is filled with earth in advance from the same place where the bait is taken from. This is required in order to fish with a fresh worm.

Without following these rules, you can lose the worms, or they will dry out (lose their attractiveness), and this will affect the catch.

For the correct use of worms as bait, there are several guidelines that will help you get a good catch:
