Try to find a "golden mean" in this matter between the strength of the structure and its weight. Connections in this structure must be made by welding or, if you do not have a welding machine available, by bolts. The second method is a little easier to implement, but less reliable - bolted connections tend to loosen, so there is a certain chance that your moped will simply fall apart one day. The engine itself can be attached to the frame using conventional steel clamps - this is the simplest and most reliable solution.

As already mentioned, a wheel from a children's bicycle, which has a diameter one and a half to two times smaller than the diameter of your bicycle wheel, is perfect as a pulley. In general, these two solutions are approximately equivalent, respectively, it is worth choosing the one for the implementation of which you have the materials (or they are easier to get).

When the motor and the belt (or chain) transmission are installed, it remains a small matter - to bring the throttle stick to the handlebars of the bike. On the frame, it is carried out by analogy with how the brake cables go (you can look at the structure yourself, and you will understand everything). This article will focus on how how to make a moped out of an ordinary children's bike (mini-mokik)... We will do everything ourselves, with our own hands, without using complex mechanisms and machines.

The mini-mokik moped was based on an ordinary children's bicycle (Fig. 1). Taking into account the difficult operating conditions (speed - up to 60 km / h), the frame and wheels of the future mokik were reinforced. A subframe made of a 27 mm tube was welded between the seatpost and the head tube. In addition to reinforcement, the subframe serves as the basis for attaching a 2.5-liter gas tank. Rear part the frame of the moped is reinforced with two jibs from a pipe with a diameter of 12 mm. On the front wheel mini-mokika instead of 12 standard spokes, 6 steel strips with a section of 4x20 mm were welded, 3 on each side (like spokes). And on the rear wheel of a homemade moped, the number of spokes was increased to 32, like on an adult bicycle.

The D-8 engine is installed on the mini-mock. To increase the power at the intake (between the engine and the carburetor), an additional valve was placed (photo 1), and the height of the combustion chamber was reduced by 2.5 mm. As a result, 3 liters were obtained. With.

The valve body (Fig. 2) is a cylinder with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 46 mm, made of D16T duralumin. Three channels with a diameter of 13 mm are drilled in the body: the central one, facing the carburetor, and two inclined ones, which enter the central one. Part of the mixture from the carburetor through one of the channels directly enters the engine spool, and the other part through the channel on which the valve is installed, when discharged, rushes into the engine crankcase. The valve plate (D16T foil 0.3 mm thick) is slightly spring-loaded towards the carburetor. A spring with an outer diameter of 17 mm made of thin 0.2 mm wire 65G has 3 turns. Along the perimeter of the sample for the valve, 18 holes with a diameter of 3 mm were drilled. These holes facilitate the passage of the mixture after opening the valve. The additional volume of the mixture arising during the bypass creates excess pressure in the compression chamber, creating an additional torque on the crank mechanism during fuel combustion and thereby increasing the engine power.

Manufacturing of the valve body should be started with turning (turning, trimming the ends, drilling a central hole to a depth of 15-16 mm, turning a groove 7 mm wide to a diameter of 18 mm). After that, mark the centers of the inclined channels, keeping the dimensions 10; 16 and 12 mm. Mark and drill 18 holes with a diameter of 3 mm to a depth of 9-10 mm around the last center 22 mm in diameter. This operation should be carried out very carefully, keeping the center-to-center distances as accurately as possible, since damage to the bridges between the holes (approximately 0.8 mm) during operation can lead to breakage of pieces of metal, getting them into the crank mechanism (KShM) and exiting building the engine of a homemade moped. For the same reason, after the final machining of the valve body, to remove the smallest particles of shavings, it should be blown with compressed air, followed by a vacuum cleaner and a magnet.

Before starting the processing of inclined canals in the places where their centers are marked, it is necessary to drill 2-mm indentations with a diameter of 10 mm. Then fix the part firmly in a machine vise at an angle of 18 ° and process the first channel (on the spool) in two passes with drills with a diameter of 6 and 13 mm until it reaches the central one. (And it is even better to process the channels in the valve sequentially with a drill, a countersink and a reamer, thus ensuring not only accuracy, but also a high purity of the channel surface. - Ed.) With the body turned 45 °, drill the second (valve) channel. Then, on a vertical milling or boring machine, process the recess for the plate and spring with a boring head with a diameter of 19 mm (to a depth of 8 mm), keeping the size 12 mm (to the center). Finally, machine the mounting holes and the groove (7x110 °) that is necessary to place the protrusion on the cylinder. The valve is attached to the carburetor on its standard studs. But to dock with the cylinder, special bolts had to be made (Fig. 3, photo 1), since there was not enough space to tighten the bolts with ordinary hex heads with wrenches. A heat-resistant sealant is applied to seal the joint between the valve and the cylinder.

The standard muffler of the D-8 engine on the mini-moike was replaced with a new one (Fig. 4), home-made with a body made of a thin-walled pipe with an outer diameter of 48 mm. The muffler has 3 compartments. Exhaust gases enter the first compartment through 23 holes with a diameter of 5 mm at the end of the engine intake pipe welded into the inlet end of the muffler. From it through a perforation (30 holes with a diameter of 4.5 mm) in the first internal partition into the second compartment. And in the third - along the inner pipe through 45 inlets with a diameter of 3.7 mm and 100 outlets with a diameter of 2.5 mm.

And the last stage of exhaust - from the third compartment to the outside - through the outlet pipe. The new muffler reduced the sound power, albeit slightly, but still raised the power and maximum speed of our engine.

The drive to the rear wheel of the moped moped is carried out by a roller chain with a tension roller (Fig. 5) through a homemade 24-tooth sprocket made of 40X grade steel sheet 4 mm thick.

Rough processing was carried out according to the marking on a vertical milling machine with a 4-mm finger cutter, the final one - with a round file. The sprocket is attached to the rear wheel hub flange with M6 bolts. On the side of the spokes, there are special segment washers with rubber gaskets, like a motor bike (photo 2).
