Career
Stepan Zakharchuk began his professional career in 2004 as a member of the Samara club of the Higher League CSK VVS, having previously played for his farm club. As part of the Samara club, Stepan played until 2008, gaining 42 (10 + 32) points during this time, as well as 404 penalty minutes in 162 matches played. Before the start of the KHL debut season, Zakharchuk signed a contract with Togliatti Lada, in which he scored 10 (5 + 5) points in 65 matches.
However, then financial problems began in the club, so Stepan and his teammate Vasily Koshechkin submitted an application to the KHL disciplinary committee with a request to terminate their contracts with Lada. After some time, the management of the Togliatti club transferred all rights to Zakharchuk to Ak Bars Kazan. As part of the treasury, Stepan in the same season won the Gagarin Cup, gaining 4 (1 + 3) points in 32 matches played.
