Ulyana kaisheva biathlon biography. We haven't seen such a finish for a long time

Champion and medalist of the III World Winter Military Games in Sochi in the team competition.
Two-time European champion among juniors. Summer Biathlon World Champion.

Ulyana Kaisheva was born on March 8, 1994 in the city of Mozhga, the Udmurt Republic. As soon as the girl learned to walk, her parents put her and her younger sister on skis. And as it turned out, they did not lose: both girls reached considerable heights. True, not in skiing, and in biathlon.

Kaisheva changed skis to biathlon at the age of ten. For preparation future champion was taken by the Honored coach of the Udmurt Republic Alexey Fedorovich Korotaev. Ulyana, under his strict guidance, studied at the biathlon department of the local sports school.

After graduation comprehensive school the athlete, on whose account at that time there were already many victories, entered the Udmurt State University, choosing the specialty "tourism manager".

In 2008, the Honored Coach of the Udmurt Republic Anatoly Bogdanov took up the preparation of the young biathlete. The trainings took place in Izhevsk. But already in next year When the girl joined the youth team of Russia, coaches Nikolai Savinov and Alexander Suslov worked to improve her skills.

In 2012, a breakthrough awaited the young biathlete. The girl managed to win three personal races, which was an excellent gift for her eighteenth birthday. Also, the athlete took part in the winter youth Olympic Games, which in 2012 took place in the Austrian Innsbruck. The Russian woman became the champion in the 7.5 km pursuit, and managed to win the bronze in the sprint. The next year 2013 turned out to be no less successful. Ulyana became the absolute world champion among girls in the age category up to nineteen years old and two-time champion European Junior Biathlon U21.

In mid-December 2016, Ulyana managed to win silver at the IBU Cup stage in the women's sprint race. Competitions were held in the Austrian Obertilliach. Two months later, the biathlete again became a participant in the World Cup, but not only in single races. The athlete made her debut in the relay team. In addition to Kaisheva, the Russian team included Tatyana Akimova, Victoria Slivko and Olga Podchufarova. In the relay, Kaisheva performed at the third stage. The girl received two penalties while shooting from a standing position. Eventually Russian team took thirteenth place.

In the summer of 2017, the athlete became a participant in the World Cup summer biathlon, which took place in Tchaikovsky. IN mixed relay Ulyana Kaisheva won gold.

Ulyana Kaisheva was among the participants admitted to participate in the 2018 Olympics. In total, only four biathletes were admitted to the Olympic Games. For this reason, the athlete performed in all competitions, except for two types of the program: the girl did not participate in the mass start, since she did not qualify for this stage, and the fans did not see the athlete in the relay. According to the results of the Olympics in Korea, the most successful performance athletes became individual race, where Kaisheva took twenty-fourth place.

In March 2018, the athlete again attracted press attention. During this period, the eighth stage of the Biathlon World Cup started, which was held in the Norwegian Holmenkollen. Ulyana Kaisheva showed herself excellently in the 7.5 km sprint race. Although the girl did not win this race, she eventually entered the top ten sprint leaders. Later, the skier won the sprint of the Russian Championship in 2018 and became the bronze medalist in the pursuit.

Athlete's height: 176 cm; weight: 62 kg.

Champion of Russia in summer biathlon (2017 - 7.5 km sprint). Silver medalist of the Russian Summer Biathlon Championships (2016 - 7.5 km sprint; 2017 - 4x6 km relay). Bronze medalist of the Russian Summer Biathlon Championship (2018).

Was designed to brighten up the sad impression of women's relay, which turned out to be the worst of the season.

On the other hand, the starting layouts with perfect shooting promised three Russian women at once to fight, if not for the first awards of the season, then for an extended podium. Ekaterina Yurlova, although she lost her sharpness by the end of the season, gained stable shooting, and Ulyana Kaisheva is now showing best biathlon in his adult career and enters into ecstasy his overly exalted army of fans, ready to hang on her the crown of the new leader of the national team.

Another intrigue was the fight for the Bolshoi crystal globe, where Anastasia Kuzmina overtook Kaisa Mäkäräinen four races before the end of the season and, having started first, could further increase her advantage. The Russians in the first loop went at their own pace, holding the starting positions, and Kuzmina increased the lead over most of the rivals, among whom the greatest danger was Daria Domracheva, who was also fighting for the top three in overall standings World Cup.

Kuzmina returns the intrigue

When the Belarusian was on the mat, Anastasia was already firing, but despite the breeze, she did not even flinch, and Dasha missed with the last shot. In the fight for third place, Dunkley and Jim also missed once, but the pursuers Franziska Hildebrand, Fuyuko Tatisaki and Ekaterina Yurlova, who came close to the coveted three, took advantage of this. Kaisheva did not cope with the first lying down and went to the penalty circle. Russian Korean Anna Frolina came close to the top ten.

Kuzmina continued to fly along the track and brought Domracheva on the second lap for another 10 seconds, bringing her advantage to one minute.

With such a margin, she could shoot without looking back at her rivals with the right to at least one mistake abroad. The first two shots were in size, but the targets did not close. The remaining shots reached the target, but Domracheva and the other pursuers got a chance. Dasha was flawless at the turn, and Yurlova rose to fourth position after Hildebrand. Kaisheva this time also shot to zero and improved her position.

Fatal misses

Giving her rivals a head start, Kuzmina calmed her pace and allowed Domracheva to keep herself in line of sight. Yurlova, against the background of the "middle class", looked good at the distance, but still let Susan Dunkley go ahead, who was holding the last race of the season. Sometimes it seems that the American woman's technique is completely absent, but even with her clumsy style, she sometimes develops good speeds. Chinese biathletes of the early 2000s could boast of something similar.

Click,
to turn on the sound

Kuzmina missed twice in the first position, but Domracheva was not perfect either. Taking advantage of the mistakes of her rivals, Hildebrand became the leader, and Domracheva rushed after her in the company of Laura Dahlmeier and the Swede Mona Brurson, who had never been so close to a personal podium in her career. Yurlova, carried away by the fight with Dunkley, missed along with the American, and Kaisheva followed her example. Medal dreams melted into the clear and blue Norwegian spring sky. Virolainen habitually failed to cope with the stand and rolled back by the end of the third dozen.

Japan and Korea fight for awards, Russia does not

Kuzmina continued to play back bit by bit and overtook the group of Dahlmeier and Domracheva to the firing line. With such a speed, she could enter the fight for victory with accurate shooting. Hildebrand shot unusually fast today and remained true to herself on the decisive stage, with the only difference that she missed twice. Dahlmeier also got one circle. Kuzmina and Domracheva shot perfectly and went to the last lap almost together to play the victory. Yurlova could break into the struggle of the leaders, but she ruined the whole impression of the race with three misses. Tatisaki and Dunkley took the lead in the bronze medal, while Kaisheva became the best among the Russians and led the fight for the top ten.

On the finish loop, Domracheva took the lead on the descent. Dasha's skis worked well, but Kuzmina tried to attack uphill.

It was evident that the rivals retained enough strength to fight the entire distance. In the fight for the bronze, Dunkley's chances looked preferable, who immediately bypassed the Japanese rival and began to leave her, remembering that there were several rivals behind her, including Frolina, who was also conducting the best race of the season for herself. A completely ex-Russian pogue loomed: Domracheva, Kuzmina, Frolina ...

Domracheva's rematch and Kaisheva's jerk

Domracheva launched an attack on the rise and, due to the incredible frequency of movements, made a significant gap for herself. Kuzmina got to the top with difficulty and could no longer answer. But she could solve her main strategic task with the second place, especially since the race did not work out for Mäkäräinen at all. Domracheva easily held the lead to the finish line, while Dunkley held the third position, finishing the season with her first and only podium finish. Frolina was sixth behind Tatisaki and Jima, who had the best race in her career.

Kaisheva superbly overcame the finish circle and took eighth place, overtaking such experienced rivals as Veronika Vitkova, Vanessa Hinz and Dorothea Wierer and almost did not yield to Dahlmeier. At a 10-kilometer distance, she lost less than 40 seconds to the fastest opponent Kaisa Mäkäräinen. Has the ever-promising asterisk really started to justify advances? Or is it just her day and her track, like Akimova's in Nove Mesto? We will find out very soon in Tyumen.

An excerpt characterizing Kaishev, Ulyana Nikolaevna

Frowning in annoyance at the efforts that had to be done to take off the caftan and trousers, the prince undressed, sat down heavily on the bed and seemed to be pensive, looking contemptuously at his yellow, withered legs. He did not think, but he hesitated before the labor ahead of him to raise these legs and move on the bed. “Oh, how hard it is! Oh, if only as soon as possible, these labors ended as soon as possible, and you would let me go! He thought. He made, pursing his lips, for the twentieth time this effort and lay down. But as soon as he lay down, suddenly the whole bed evenly went back and forth under him, as if breathing heavily and pushing. This happened to him almost every night. He opened his eyes that had been closed.
- No rest, damned! - he grumbled with anger at someone. “Yes, yes, there was also something important, I saved something very important for myself in bed for the night. Gate valves? No, he said about it. No, there was something in the living room. Princess Marya was lying. Desalles something - this fool - said. I don’t remember something in my pocket ”.
- Tishka! What were you talking about at dinner?
- About the prince, Mikhail ...
- Shut up, shut up. - The prince slapped his hand on the table. - Yes! I know, a letter from Prince Andrew. Princess Marya read. Desalle said something about Vitebsk. Now I’ll read it.
He ordered to take a letter out of his pocket and move a table with lemonade and a wax candle to the bed and, putting on his glasses, began to read. It was only then in the stillness of the night, in the weak light from under the green cap, that, after reading the letter, for the first time for a moment he understood its meaning.
“The French are in Vitebsk, after four crossings they can be at Smolensk; maybe they're already there. "
- Tishka! - Tikhon jumped up. - No, don't, don't! He shouted.
He hid the letter under the candlestick and closed his eyes. And he saw the Danube, the bright noon, the reeds, the Russian camp, and he enters, he, a young general, without a wrinkle on his face, cheerful, cheerful, ruddy, into Potemkin's painted tent, and a burning feeling of envy for his favorite, just as strong, as then, worries him. And he recalls all the words that were said then at the first meeting with Potemkin. And he imagines, with yellowness in a fat face, a short, fat woman - Mother Empress, her smiles, words when she, having kindly received him for the first time, and recalls her face on the hearse and that collision with Zubov, which was then with her coffin for the right to come to her hand.
"Ah, rather, rather return to that time, and so that everything now ends as soon as possible, as soon as possible, so that they leave me alone!"

Bald Gory, the estate of Prince Nikolai Andreich Bolkonsky, was located sixty miles from Smolensk, behind it, and three miles from the Moscow road.
On the same evening, as the prince was giving orders to Alpatych, Desal, demanding a meeting from Princess Marya, told her that since the prince was not completely healthy and did not take any measures for his safety, and from the letter of Prince Andrei it was clear that his stay in Bald Mountains unsafe, then he respectfully advises her to write a letter with Alpatych to the head of the province in Smolensk with a request to notify her of the state of affairs and the degree of danger that Bald Mountains are exposed to. Desalles wrote a letter to the governor for Princess Marya, which she signed, and this letter was given to Alpatych with the order to submit it to the governor and, in case of danger, return as soon as possible.
Having received all the orders, Alpatych, escorted by his family, in a white downy hat (a prince's gift), with a stick, just like the prince, went out to sit in a leather wagon, pledged by a trio of well-fed Savras.
The bell was tied up, and the bells were covered with pieces of paper. The prince did not allow anyone in Bald Hills to ride with a bell. But Alpatych loved bells and bells on a long journey. The courtiers of Alpatych, the Zemsky, the clerk, the cook - black, white, two old women, a Cossack boy, coachmen and various courtyards accompanied him.
The daughter put down chintz pillows behind her back and under him. The old sister-in-law secretly slipped the bundle. One of the coachmen put him on the arm.
- Well, well, woman's fees! Women, women! - puffing, Alpatych spoke rapidly, exactly as the prince spoke, and sat down in the wagon. Having given the last orders about the work of the Zemsky, and in this he did not imitate the prince, Alpatych took off his hat from his bald head and crossed himself three times.
- You, if that ... you come back, Yakov Alpatych; For Christ's sake, have pity on us, ”his wife shouted to him, hinting at rumors of war and the enemy.
“Women, women, women’s fees,” Alpatych said to himself and drove off, looking around the fields, where with yellowed rye, where with thick, still green oats, where there were still black ones who were just starting to double. Alpatych rode, admiring the rare harvest of spring crops this year, looking closely at the strips of rye sings, on which they began to grind in some places, and made his own economic considerations about sowing and harvesting and whether some princely order had not been forgotten.
Having fed him twice on the road, by the evening of August 4, Alpatych arrived in the city.
On the way, Alpatych met and overtook the convoys and troops. Approaching Smolensk, he heard long shots, but these sounds did not startle him. Most of all, he was struck by the fact that, approaching Smolensk, he saw a beautiful field of oats, which some soldiers apparently mowed for feed and on which they camped; this circumstance struck Alpatych, but he soon forgot it, thinking about his business.
All the interests of Alpatych's life for more than thirty years have been limited by one will of the prince, and he never left this circle. Everything that did not concern the execution of the orders of the prince, not only did not interest him, but did not exist for Alpatych.
Alpatych, having arrived in the evening of August 4th in Smolensk, stopped behind the Dnieper, in the Gachensky suburb, at an inn, at the housekeeper Ferapontov, with whom he had been in the habit of staying for thirty years. Ferapontov twelve years ago, with the light hand of Alpatych, having bought a grove from the prince, began to trade and now had a house, an inn and a flour shop in the province. Ferapontov was a fat, black, red, forty-year-old man, with thick lips, a thick bump in his nose, the same bumps over black, frowning eyebrows and a thick belly.

Champion and medalist of the III World Winter Military Games in Sochi in the team competition.
Two-time European champion among juniors. Summer Biathlon World Champion.

From the reserve - for the Games

For most of your fellow biathletes, the Russian Championship is the end of the season. You also have one more start. Not counting the days and hours until the moment when you can afford a complete rest?

In what sense is it complete?

- In direct. Beach, palm trees, ice cream - what else happens in the dreams of representatives winter species sports?

This does not happen to me at all. In the spring, I continue to train. Is that not so intense - there are more days off. But the competition, fortunately, I really have the last one this season.

You did not have a very typical year: you were included in the Olympic team, but at the same time, until January, you were not part of the main team and did not play in the World Cup. Do you think that staying in the reserve went in plus or minus?

I think it's a minus. After I got such a lot of experience at the Olympics, I began to understand that experience is very important in our sport. When it is lacking, it affects the way you run the race, how you bring yourself to it. If I had the opportunity to start performing in the World Cup earlier, perhaps I would have switched to other speeds earlier.

- When did you find out that you were definitely going to Pyeongchang?

Only after Antholz. Before that, of course, I hoped that I would get into the team, but I didn't count on it too much, to be honest. Especially after the first race in Ruhpolding, where my diopter fell off and I finished 89th. And in Antholz not to say that everything was fine. It was just that nothing depended on me there, so I was just waiting for the coaching decision.

- Did you want to get to the Olympics?

Yes. From the very beginning of the season, it was not even thought that the Games could be boycotted. I really wanted to get this experience. It was just that later, when it turned out that there were only four of us going to Pyeongchang, a strange feeling appeared. When I participated in the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, I felt very well how great it is to have a big team around you. And here - there is really no team, no name of the country.

- Morally it pressed?

No pressure, no. Rather, it did not allow to be inspired, to catch courage.

A very ordinary Olympiad

- Are you satisfied with your results?

No. I'm not a little girl anymore, even though this Olympics was my first. I felt that I was able to compete with many rivals, I really wanted this and tried very hard. But it didn't work out.

- Over the past couple of seasons, you have worked with different coaches. Who was more comfortable with?

Definitely with Noritsyn.

- What is there in this specialist that other mentors were not able to give you?

Personally, I like the validity of the work that Noritsyn offers and the psychological support. It means a lot when a coach knows how to set up for work, explain all the details, support when it doesn't work out, praise if the result is good. Incidentally, I cannot say that at the Olympics I lacked attention from the coaches who were with us. Nikolai Stepanovich Zagursky and Ricco Gross supported all of us in the same way, did not disregard us.

- And how, then, to explain the words of Akimova?

Tanya, apparently, perceived everything differently. Perhaps because she had to work in Pyeongchang according to my plan - she had no other.

- What impressed you the most in Korea?

Ordinary. I was not at the Games in Sochi, I watched them from the sidelines, and I was absolutely sure that the Olympics should be just that - very festive and very bright. And here ... Just a competition, nothing special. At the World Cup, there were more emotions. I can't say that I got any special impressions. Everything was very calm.

- But you took the experience away from the Olympics. What is it?

In the little things. How to warm up, how to shoot, how to run, how to shoot. The more significant the competition, the more important it all becomes.

Penalty circle

- By the way, you have become worse at shooting.

I know. The start of the season in this sense was not bad - 95 percent of hits. Then the stability was broken. But we are working on it.

- Do you consider your shooting fast?

Not as much as we would like. I think it is quite possible to pass the milestone in 22 seconds. It takes me more time so far.

- Do you think about something abstract when you stand in position?

Is that about shooting opponents. You can hear everything - who shoots how, who has not closed the installation. It is impossible not to hear it.

- Is it very confusing?

Not really. The weather - wind, snow - can create much more interference.

What to talk about with a rifle?

- What is your least favorite thing in biathlon?

Summer work when it is constantly hot.

- That is, if you choose between skis and rollers ...

I will choose skis.

- Sea or forest?

I have been to the sea once in my life, but ... a forest.

- Dress or tracksuit?

Of course the suit. It is more convenient in it.

- Cats or dogs?

And those and others.

- Individual race or sprint?

But just a couple of years ago, you said that more than other distances you like the individual race, because for a good shooter there are more chances in it.

This is true. But now, I think I have more chances in the sprint. We have not yet analyzed the season, but my feeling is that my running speed is increasing.

- Is a rifle an animate creature in your perception or just a piece of metal?

Earlier it seemed to me that it was just a piece of metal. But the paradox is that the more you follow it, wipe it, take care of it, the better it manifests itself.

- Are you talking to her?

I have nothing to talk to her about. I don’t like talking too much - I like listening more. Even in free time I prefer to listen to audiobooks, rather than read, so that my eyes do not strain and do not get tired.

- I remember that in their free time, biathletes were almost without exception fond of embroidery or drawing.

I do not like to do needlework. I tried to knit, but the skill is not enough.

- Where is it easier for you to perform - at home or in Europe?

Psychologically, it is, of course, easier at home. But we usually have very "slow" snow.

- Because it is natural?

Rather, due to the fact that it is constantly frozen. In Europe, the snow is faster. I don't know how to explain this, but the skis there, compared to our conditions, just fly.

- By the way, does the current Russian championship have any sporting significance for you?

Yes, as it ends the season. Last year, for example, I did not manage to show the slightest acceptable result at all, but now I am very glad that I managed not only to “survive”, but even to win a sprint.

- And if you were not promised big bonuses for winning these competitions?

It would not change anything in my actions. I certainly would not have run faster.
