Winter tent with your own hands. DIY tent for comfortable fishing How to make a winter tent

The frame of a homemade winter tent is made by hand from old duralumin ski poles with a diameter of 16 millimeters, which are cut into 10 pieces 500 millimeters long. In addition, four tubes with an outer diameter of 13 millimeters and two plastic rods or beech sticks (you can sticks from children's skis) with an outer diameter of 10 millimeters were needed. For connection, angular and three-sided hinges, rivets and hooks from an old folding bed are used.

1 - beech stand; 2 - ball stoppers; 3 - beech rod; 4 - grooves for the locking ball;

5 - cap straps (red arrows indicate the directions of the hinges and telescopic connections).

The rivets are shortened, the hinges are reduced in size, new holes are drilled in them, taking into account the diameter of the tubes.

Places are marked for drilling holes with a diameter of 5.5 mm in such a way as to obtain the desired angle of divergence of the racks when setting up the tent (at close range). This is the main condition for all hinged joints.

The side racks must be locked with caps in the working position so that the deflection angle is slightly more than 90 °.

A rather simple method of locking telescopic connections is used: in the place where the expandable tubes are locked, we drill a hole with a diameter of 5–5.5 mm with a chamfer for a nest into which we insert a ball with a diameter of 6 mm. We install the ball in the socket and push a piece of rubber hose with an inner diameter of 13-14 millimeters. The ball is pre-coated with grease.

In the beech rod, circular recesses are made on both sides - grooves for the locking ball.

Making a homemade tent frame begins with a vertical rear rack. The lower side tubes (opening angle 90°) are attached to the three-way hinge, then the side posts and lastly the lower support tubes are assembled.

Ball stops (10 pieces) are assembled during the manufacture of the frame. The length of all posts is determined at the end of the assembly, however, the lower tubes should not extend beyond 500 millimeters. The front strut is assembled in the same way, only the hole for the hook axle is made before the side tubes are attached. The opening angle of the side beams of the A-pillar is determined after the production of the A-pillar.

1 - tension cords; 2 - locks "lightning"; 3 - part of the sewn bottom of the tent; 4 - loops and ribbons for attaching the awning to the frame; 5 - apron; 6 - pocket.

When the frame of the homemade tent is ready, we proceed to the manufacture of the awning of the tent, for which we use old raincoats made of “bologna” fabric, which does not harden or rot in the cold.

We sew part of the bottom (250-300 millimeters) to the tent, as well as loops and straps for attaching the frame. Cuts are made on the sides and zipper locks with a length of at least 500 millimeters are sewn in. An apron 200–300 mm wide is sewn along the bottom of the tent to the bottom, and pockets are placed on the side inner wall.

You can make a small incision with a "lightning" (200-250 millimeters) for the window. Caps made of thick fabric are sewn into the corners of the canvas of the tent, into which the racks of the frame are inserted. Cords are pulled from the side racks to the front, we pass them through the loops and put them on the front rack over the cap, upper part which we do not sew in this place.

The weight of the tent is 1.8 kilograms, the assembled dimensions are 200 x 500 millimeters.

Setting up the tent takes less than one minute. Standing up against the wind, facing the rear post, we unfold the tent and put it on ourselves, the hinges are straightened, the telescopic connections are pulled out, the side posts are fixed with cap straps. We close the "zippers", put on the tension cords. To get out of the tent, we open the locks on the sides, lower the front post (the tension cords will fall and hang in loops), tilt it towards ourselves and throw the front edge of the tent over our heads.

1 - front pillar in assembled form; 2 - rear pillar in assembled form; 3 - assembled tent

If you sew two "zippers" 1000-1200 mm long - one parallel to the bottom, the other - perpendicular to it, you can leave the tent without lowering the front post - just open these two locks. Tent for winter fishing together should be equipped with two rear frames, while the lower connections will be longer.

Light weight and dimensions allow you to put the tent in a backpack.

Winter fishing is a lot of positive emotions that can be diluted with some of the negative emotions associated with weather conditions. It is not difficult to imagine what discomfort the angler feels in the presence of frost, and even wind, which enhances the feeling of cold. The wind may not be strong, but it can bring a lot of problems. If you have a winter tent for fishing, then some of the problems can be reduced to zero.

The presence of a tent allows you to increase the total time the fisherman stays on the pond in the winter. Moreover, you can easily raise the temperature in the tent to a positive mark, which will allow the fisherman to feel very comfortable.

Depending on the design features, winter tents are divided into specific models.

These are the simplest designs that are easy to assemble and install. To make the frame of such a tent, you should use durable, but lightweight materials. Synthetic fabrics or their combinations with tarpaulin are more suitable as an awning for covering.

The design is designed in such a way that the frame acts as a spring, which takes the desired shape when it is released from the package. They are quite popular due to their simplicity of design and lightness. Despite this, these tents have a number of disadvantages. Firstly, they are not very resistant to strong winds, and secondly, it is not so easy to fold it. Therefore, going fishing, you will have to work out before that. It unfolds itself, but without skills, it will be very difficult to fold it, and if you overdo it, you can break it.

This tent consists of several folding arcs and an awning, which covers this frame. We can safely say that this is the same simple option, but it takes a long time to assemble and disassemble. In addition, it is not particularly durable. Therefore, anglers rarely acquire a similar design.

A winter fishing tent should protect the angler from wind, frost and precipitation. Not only that, the tent should have enough space to relax so that you can cook dinner or just drink tea to keep warm.

In specialized outlets, you can buy any tent, especially since the range is very large. Be that as it may, some anglers make them on their own, taking into account all the requirements. In addition, who, if not fishermen, knows what kind of tent is required. Moreover, not all factory-made models meet the requirements of winter fishing enthusiasts.

A homemade tent should be:

  • quite light and compact;
  • mobile so that you can easily move;
  • covered with dense but breathable fabric;
  • easy to install and dismantle;
  • durable and strong, as well as keep warm for a long time.

To work, you will need to stock up on such tools

Most tents made by anglers themselves fit in fishing box. The box, by the way, can also be made independently, which is what many fishermen do, although you can buy it. In addition to the box, you will need the following accessories:

  • two pairs of skis, one for children, one for school;
  • tubes. In this case, it can be ski poles;
  • unnecessary folding bed;
  • thick fabric, such as a tarpaulin.

At first glance, how can a tent be built from such a set of elements. But, nevertheless, such a design proved that it has the right to life. The final product fits into a fishing box, which is very easy to transport across the ice. The construction is quick and easy to assemble and just as easy to move across the ice in working condition.

The only negative is that there is not enough space in it. But if you approach the problem constructively, then there is an opportunity to solve it and increase the tent in volume. Paradoxically, but it protects from the cold, and this is the main thing.

Judging from the drawings, the tent is mounted on skis, which simplifies its installation on the ice. Ordinary tents require special fasteners. In addition, skis allow you to move the entire structure around the pond countless times. As a rule, winter fishing is not limited to one punched hole - there can be ten or even more, and each hole has to be caught.

The only thing is that it is problematic to use it in the presence of a strong wind, since it is installed on skis, the wind will be able to move it around the pond on its own. In this case, you can get used to it and use the power of the wind to move it. The main thing is to drill holes correctly.

Despite the fact that this design was born a long time ago, many anglers have tested it in the harsh conditions of winter.

How to make a tent with your own hands

  • Ski poles serve as a frame and are installed vertically. Horizontal tubes should be thinner. At the corners, the frame is connected using tees, the diameter of which must match the diameter of both vertical and horizontal tubes.
  • The next step is to attach the vertical tubes to the skis. A metal plate is attached to the ski, into which a tongue is inserted in the letter T, fixed at the lower end of the tube. To fix the stick, it is enough to turn it at an angle of 90 degrees.
  • From an old folding bed, two sticks are being prepared that will connect the frame to the box. A bent tube is taken, at the end of which there is a docking station. At the other end of the tube is a latch, which serves as a fastener for the docking station.
  • A spring is made from a copper strip, which connects the box with the tubes.
  • In conclusion, it remains to stretch the awning. Metal strips with holes are attached to the bottom of the tent. Brackets fixed to the ends of the skis are pulled into these holes. The awning is connected with brackets using ropes. For stable behavior of the tent on ice, it is equipped with two anchors.

How to make fasteners

If the tent is not fixed on the ice, then at the slightest movement it will move in any direction, especially in the presence of wind. Therefore, it is necessary to make special pegs, at the end of which there is a thread. For this purpose, long and durable self-tapping screws are suitable, the top of which is bent in the form of a hook. By the way, hooks with threads of any size are available in hardware stores.

How to sew a tent with your own hands

Alternatively, you can make a tent in the form of a house. To make it you need to take:

  • Water-repellent fabric, 14 sq. meters.
  • Metal washers, 1.5 mm in diameter, 20 pcs.
  • Braided rope, up to 15 m long.
  • Narrow tape, about 9 m long.
  • Bedding fabric, rubberized within 6 m.

Such a tent can accommodate one or even two people. First of all, you need to prepare two pieces of fabric, measuring 1.8x0.9 m. On the side of 1.8 m, marks are made every 65 centimeters. The same is done with the other (0.9 m) side. The fabric should be cut at the connection points, then you get the entrance and the back wall of the tent.

The diagram shows step-by-step the implementation of further work. Most importantly, all details must be sewn securely. Tape should be used to reinforce the seams. There are times when a tent is sewn from ordinary fabric. In case of bad weather, a polyethylene film is used, which is able to protect against wind and precipitation. Metal rings are sewn into the fabric for fastening. As a rule, they are placed along the bottom of the awning, as well as in the places where the fabric is attached to the frame.

Setting up a tent on a pond

Assembling a homemade ski tent takes a minimum of useful time:

  1. The skis, on which the tongues are fixed, are connected to the halves of the tubes located parallel to the skis. They should be directed inside the tent.
  2. Each pair of bent tubes is threaded through special holes located on the ski racks.
  3. Skis are interconnected so that a rectangle is obtained.
  4. A fishing box is installed on the structure prepared in this way.
  5. At the ends of each ski, vertical racks are installed. There should be four of them.
  6. Tees are taken and with the help of them a roof is formed. They are installed on each vertical rack.
  7. With the help of horizontal tubes, the frame is finally formed.
  8. A fabric is thrown over the frame, which is attached to the frame with short ropes.

A similar tent is disassembled in reverse order. If each structural element is numbered, then the assembly and disassembly process will take somewhat less precious time.

Tent for winter fishing can buy. They are different: large, small, medium; quite cheap and quite expensive. In any case, you can choose according to your budget and needs, buy and not bother - this is my opinion. But, there are people with obvious “creative incontinence” and too smooth hands growing from that very place. Here, this article is for them - how to make your own ice fishing tent.

So why is it needed? For wind and snow protection. Consider several options for independently making a tent for fishing in the winter. As usual, there is a simple way and a more complex, thorough one, as well as a very thorough and very laborious one. I will briefly describe all three.

. Well, this is the most conditional and easy-to-make shelter from snow and, to some extent, from the wind.

It's even, rather, not a tent, but such a cape. Our task is to make a dome from a dense polyethylene film. The support of the tent will be an ice screw. To do this, we extend the drill to the maximum and screw it at an angle into the ice, as can be seen from the figure. Polyethylene can be cut in the form of an isosceles right-angled triangle, so that when it is folded in half, it naturally turns out to be a right-angled isosceles triangle. If you forgot the geometry or did not understand anything, here is the diagram.

Accordingly, we sew a zipper, which can be closed. We make holes in the eyelets along the perimeter of the bell. Through these holes we will fasten the cape to the ice with steel pins or nails.

The dome of a polyethylene tent is not the best solution in terms of strength. It is quite difficult to sew a zipper well so as not to tear the film. But, on the other hand, the film is transparent and everything is visible around. So, you can make a dome out of fabric (light, translucent or denser). You can make a dome according to a more advanced pattern. This is already a transition to a more complex design of a winter tent. Here, already, an ice drill will not work as a support. At a minimum, you need a central support, higher. It can be made foldable by attaching the sections with tubes, as in old bamboo rods. One end is sharp for cutting into ice. We stretch the dome on such a central support and stretch the edges, driving pins into the ice through the holes (or using stretch ropes sewn to the canopy of the tent).

Even more complex structures, as in the figure, require more than one support. In addition to the central one, 4 or more auxiliary supports are required on the sides. In this way, you can make a fairly large tent. Of course, the larger the tent, the more folding supports, the heavier and more voluminous the tent will be when folded ...

And, the most outdated, time-consuming and complex option make a tent for winter fishing- make a collapsible rigid frame of aluminum tubes. And already a dome made of thin fabric is pulled onto the assembled frame. Lots of design options! I think if you have come to such a life that you want to make this kind of tent on your own, then you will design and construct it yourself to make it even more interesting

I repeat. Personally, I think that with the current abundance of winter tents on sale, and their moderate cost, making it yourself is a dubious idea. But perhaps there are fans of various homemade products and they will decide make your own ice fishing tent. I hope that these brave people will find some useful ideas in the proposed material.

During winter fishing, the angler needs to protect himself from many weather conditions that are acceptable in winter and are very well suited for this.

In addition, it increases the time the fisherman stays in cold weather. If heating devices are used in the tent, then the air in it can be warmed up to 20 degrees and is freely in it without outerwear.

Types of winter fishing tents

Winter tents are divided into types, on which their design, installation and assembly depend.

  • Umbrella. This type is considered the simplest in its design. It has an umbrella design, thanks to which it is easy to mount and assemble. For the manufacture of the frame, dural rods are used, which increase the reliability and strength of the tent. The awning can be made of synthetic fabrics or a combination with a tarpaulin.
  • Machine. The scheme of their construction is that a tent is sewn to the frame. When collecting, it is enough to twist it into a circle, and it unfolds instantly due to the action of the frame, which works like a spring. These tents are becoming more and more popular among anglers because they have small price, little weight. But along with this, it has many disadvantages: poor wind resistance, the frame breaks easily if the tent is not properly aligned.
  • Frame. Its design resembles the usual summer version. It develops from several folding arches and an awning. She understands for 10 minutes, or even more. The tent does not differ in special reliability. Fishermen rarely purchase this type of winter tent.

What requirements should a homemade tent for winter fishing meet?

Should create the most favorable conditions on cold, windy, winter days. In addition, it should serve as a place where you can cook food, drink hot tea and just keep warm.

Now the market is full of all possible types of tents, but it's still nice to make your own. If you perform self-tailoring of a tent, you should complete it with some requirements:

  • It should be light and compact.
  • Since it is portable, the tent must be mobile.
  • Select fabrics should be dense.
  • It should be easy and quick to assemble and disassemble.
  • In its manufacture, it is better to give preference to stronger and more reliable materials. The heat in the middle of the structure should be maintained as long as possible.

What materials and tools will you need?

A very common, home-made is a design based on. You can buy it at any store that specializes in selling fishing tackle. In addition, you will also need some accessories:

  • Skis, in the amount of two pairs (children's and school version)
  • Tubes, you can use ski poles.
  • Old folding bed.
  • Thick fabric, tarpaulin works best.

At first glance, it is not entirely clear what this design will look like. But, in practice, its effectiveness and ease of use have been proven. After the design is completed, a box should be obtained, which is transported using skis. In addition, it is easy to assemble and move even on ice.

Drawings of a homemade winter tent

As can be seen from the diagram, the tent is mounted on skis and this simplifies its fastening on the ice. Indeed, fastening ordinary winter tents requires a lot of time and effort. And with a similar design, the angler can move around the pond many times. Wherever a new hole is made, the angler pulls it up to him and, climbing inside, is ready to fish in warmth and comfort.

Note! To reduce the windage, and in strong winds it was easier to drag the tent, it is necessary to remove the awning from the tent. If this is not done, then it will simply be difficult to drag it.

Step-by-step instruction

This design is very old, but very reliable. More than one generation of anglers have experienced it in practice.

How to make a tent with your own hands photo and pattern

  • Ski poles will serve as a frame, where they are mounted vertically. Horizontal tubes should be an order of magnitude thinner. The upper nodes must be made in the form of a triple connecting adapter and its termination is made as a cylinder. It is worth noting that the diameters of the cylinder and the tubes with which they are connected must match.
  • Next is the fixing of the tubes in a vertical position to the skis. A T-shaped tongue is inserted into the metal plate fixed on the ski, which is located at the lower end of the tube. After that, the tube is rotated 90 degrees.
  • Two pipes taken from a cot used to connect the frame to the box. At the end of the bent tube, the end of the docking product is fixed. The latch is installed on the other end of the tube.
  • Eyelets made from copper strip will serve to connect the box with the tubes.
  • At the end of all the work, it remains to pull the awning. In its lower part, metal plates with slots are installed. In these slots it is necessary to stretch the brackets that are driven into the side ends of the skis. Connections are fixed with laces. In order for the structure to stably hold on to a frozen reservoir, it must be equipped with two anchors.

Homemade pegs and tent pins

In order to make pegs that will be used for a winter tent, you need to take long and strong self-tapping screws. At the peg, the top is made in the form of a hook. This process is done with pliers. Screws are made from metal tubes that have a thread. If there is none, then self-tapping screws will fit perfectly.

How to sew a tent with your own hands in the form of a house

You can consider another very popular view tents that are made in the form of a house. For self-manufacturing such a tent will need:

  • Fabric that does not get wet - 14 sq.m.
  • Metal washers - 1.5 mm diameter (up to 20 pcs.)
  • Braided rope - 15 meters.
  • Not a wide tape - 9 meters.
  • Rubberized fabric for bedding - 6 meters.

Having prepared all the materials, you can proceed to the manufacture of a tent that can accommodate one or two people. To begin with, 2 pieces of fabric of the same size are cut out - 1.8 by 0.9 meters. On the long side, markings of 65 centimeters are made, the same operation is done on the other side. The fabric is cut at the connection points. Thus, the entrance and the back wall of the tent are obtained.

The diagram shows how to do all the other work step by step. The only thing to remember is that all elements are stitched together with high quality. This is where tape comes to the rescue, which will strengthen the seams.

And accessories you can find a fairly rich assortment of tents, however, if desired, they can be made from improvised means.

How to do it right is our article.

The use of tents in Lately became quite popular. And all thanks to the desire of fishermen to increase the comfort of fishing in bad weather conditions. Tents have gained the greatest popularity, since frosts complicate the long-term expectation of a bite from a person sitting above the hole.

Requirements for a homemade tent

The main purpose is to create favorable conditions for fishing in snowy or windy weather. In addition, there is a place where it is more convenient to cook food, drink tea and warm up using special heating devices.

You can, of course, purchase such a tent (especially since the choice is now huge), but it’s better to make it.
During self-tailoring, it is necessary to pay Special attention for moments like this:

  • The tent must be light, compact and mobile as it has to be carried long distances during site selection.
  • The fabric is selected dense. It is better if it is waterproof (for example, tarpaulin).
  • The tent should be quick to deploy and easy to set up.
  • It is not recommended to use plastic material for the manufacture of the frame, but the aluminum frame is quite durable.
  • The tent must be warm.

Types of structures

There are different designs of tents. The most common are three varieties:

  1. A tent in the form of an umbrella is made using duralumin rods or tubes. Any synthetic fabrics are suitable for tent covering (sometimes combined use in combination with a tarpaulin is possible). The result is a fairly rigid and durable structure.
  2. A tent with automatic reshaping is less common than umbrellas. The peculiarity of this design is the ability to roll the fabric sewn to the frame into a circle.
  3. Tent with a frame in the form of 2-3 arcs made of duralumin or fiberglass, which are laid out on the spot. Then an awning is pulled over them.

The geometric shape of the tent can be any: triangular, trapezoid, in the form of a sphere or a cube. It all depends on the taste of the fisherman.

Details for a homemade tent

The details that will be needed to make a tent can be taken from improvised means:

  • a pair of the smallest children's skis or school skis (up to 1.6 m long);
  • duralumin tubes (you can use ski poles);
  • old unnecessary folding bed;
  • awning waterproof fabric.

Making a homemade fishing tent

You can assemble the structure in the following sequence:

  1. A frame of duralumin ski poles is mounted in two stages: first, vertical racks are installed, and horizontal tubes (thinner than vertical ones) are attached to them. The top of the tent is assembled from tees ending in cylinders 5 cm long. In this case, the diameter of the cylinders must be the same as that of the joined tubes.
  2. The lower ends of the vertical tubes are attached to the skis. There is a T-shaped tongue at the bottom of the tube. It must be inserted into a metal plate that is attached to the ski. The tube is then rotated 90 degrees.
  3. The frame of the tent is connected to the box. For this, two tubes bent at the ends from an unnecessary clamshell are used. A docking product is attached to one end, and a latch is installed at the other end. It is she who, when docked, gets the tongue into the hole on the other bent tube.
  4. The box is connected to the tubes by means of strips made of steel or copper attached to the posts.
  5. Tensioning the awning is possible due to the slotted metal plates installed on the lower edge. U-shaped brackets pass through them, which must be driven into the side ends of the skis. Connections are fixed with shoelaces.
  6. Setting up the tent is possible with the help of two anchors - penknives with a double-sided blade.

Accessories for comfortable fishing

To improve comfort in makeshift tent v winter time various devices are used. One of them is a special floor for the tent. It is better to make such a flooring from a material with low thermal conductivity (for example, polyethylene foam) no thinner than 15 mm.

The selected floor thickness is due to two requirements.

Firstly, so you can protect yourself from melting ice under your feet.

Secondly, at a temperature of more than 20 degrees below zero, the floor will add comfort.

While fishing in a tent in the winter, it becomes necessary to heat the internal space. Resourceful anglers get warm with homemade or commercial heating devices. The use of candles is advisable for temperatures up to 15 degrees below zero.

If it is colder, then this method is ineffective and will not allow warming up the space inside the tent. The use of dry fuel is possible even with the use of homemade coasters made from cans. However, when dry fuel is burned for a long time, a large amount of carbon monoxide is released. In this regard, you often have to ventilate the tent, and this is unlikely to help keep warm.

There are also a variety of heating devices that run on natural gas or solid fuel. Just keep in mind that these devices are quite bulky and heavy. They can be applied only if they are delivered to the reservoir by car.

In fact, there are a lot of various designs of tents, and there is a wide field for imagination. The shape of a fishing shelter can be absolutely any: both rounded and acute-angled. The design is selected based on the capabilities and availability of the necessary materials.

The main thing to keep in mind is the lightweight design and compact appearance when disassembled. After all, it should be possible to transfer manually over a long distance when looking for a place on a pond. During the installation of the tent, you should pay attention to which side the wind is blowing. It is necessary to position the tent in such a way that the exit and ventilation holes are on the side perpendicular to the wind.
