Denis Kolodin is a football player. Former defender of Dynamo and the Russian national team Denis Kolodin signed a contract with Volga

Once an indispensable central defender of the Moscow Dynamo and the Russian national team, now he has become a player in the Nizhny Novgorod Volga. The football player had no playing practice for a long time, and his future, to be honest, was apprehensive. Now this problem seems to be solved.

"Denis Kolodin, good evening!" - enthusiastically shouted our columnist, commenting on the match that went down in history between the national teams of Russia and Holland in the quarterfinals of Euro 2008.

In that Hiddink team, Kolodin was one of the best, and his cannon shots made not only the commentators gush with emotions, but everyone who saw it. Although, it would seem, he then failed the opening matches of the Euro. But in the playoffs, he became one of the creators of a landmark victory.

At one time, the then promising Kolodin was called a replacement in the center of the national team's defense. Time passed, the footballer matured, gaining strength in order to become one of the best central defenders in Russia. Has it become? Certainly. Those who would deny it are wrong. Another thing is that he could not gain a foothold in this title.

It cannot be said that he was to blame. The eternal scourge of a football player, injuries - this was the main reason that Kolodin very quickly disappeared from the field of view of specialists and fans.

For the first time, a defender ended up in the hospital for a long time in the fall of 2008, after the defender of the Wings of the Soviets, Oh Bom Sok, injured his ankle.

The head coach of the Russian national team took this as a personal tragedy. “Kolodin is a terrible loss... Denis may not be a very impressive player, if you do not take into account his long-range cannon shots, but he did an excellent job in recent matches for the national team,” said the Dutchman. “We will miss him.”

Kolodin managed to recover just in time to take part in European competitions for the first time in his career in 2009. Moreover, for the match of the 3rd qualifying stage of the Champions League against Celtic, he brought the team to the field for the first time as captain. And it is not so important that Dynamo then failed. Something else is important. Again the game with the "Wings" - and again the injury, this time the back of the thigh. Because of this, Kolodin missed six league matches, including the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. Who knows, if he had been in service, maybe there would not have been that nightmare in Maribor. You say his presence would not change anything? Is not a fact.

2010, the match Russia - Hungary, and again Denis pulls his thigh muscles. And yet he continues to be considered one of the best Russian defenders, and idle rumor woo him for € 15 million. Although the football player himself then categorically denied that he could leave Dynamo somewhere.

He remained in the camp of the blue and white. Then an injury followed, another one, and now Kolodin is already sitting in a deep reserve, and he plays in his position not without success.

Where is Kolodin? Who is it? Good evening? No, good night already. How quickly everyone forgot that such a player exists...

Only the Dynamo coach Dan Petrescu did not forget, who brought him out of oblivion and again began to dose him on the field. But it was no longer the same Dynamo and not the same Kolodin.

In early 2012, Denis went on loan to Rostov. But for this club, he spent only 8 matches. Obviously, having once coached Kolodin at Dynamo, he saw alternatives to him in the defensive formations of his team.

And it seemed that everything was over - football player Kolodin was over: his contract with Dynamo had expired and was not renewed. But unexpected and, frankly, pleasant news was his transfer to Volga. Denis has a chance that he must use. If he succeeds, a new morning will begin in his career.

Description

Denis Alekseevich Kolodin was born on January 11, 1982 in Kamyshin ( Volgograd region). Almost the main role in choosing a future profession for Denis was played by "Textile Worker". At that time, a team from Kamyshin, led by Sergei Pavlov, went from the lower leagues to the Higher League, where they settled for a long time. Such a vivid example became a role model for all the boys who dreamed of getting into the Textile Worker. V football school(SDUSHOR-2) Denis was invited by Vladimir Zorkov, who became the first coach of a promising boy from the first grade of an ordinary high school.

Excellent return on training and the desire to improve himself justified themselves in 1994, when Denis was introduced to the scouts of the Volgograd "Olympia". Leave native city and young Kolodin did not want to live in a boarding school. Leonid Slutsky intervened in the matter, who managed to persuade the future famous football player take this step. At that time, Kolodin played as a striker, but that was until Denis got injured in one of the training sessions, which required surgical intervention. After that incident, I had to forget about playing in the attack forever, but Slutsky supported the guy, not only psychologically, but also transferred the football player first to midfield and then to defense, doing everything so as not to injure the psyche young player, which had become top scorer several youth tournaments.

In 2000 began new stage in Kolodin's career. For the first time, the player understood what professional football, having tried his hand in the zone "Volga region" of the second division of the championship of Russia. In the next two seasons, Kolodin was a regular player in the base, having managed to score 14 goals in 68 matches (a scorer's past affected). It is also worth noting that Roman Adamov and Andrey Bochkov played together with Denis.

In 2002, Leonid Slutsky moved to Elista Uralan, where he began working with a double. At the request of Slutsky, Kolodin came to see Sergei Pavlov, who led the main team of Uralan. After a successful viewing, on February 8, Denis signed a contract with the Elista team. Soon Kolodin established himself at the base. At this time, Moscow giants, such as Spartak and CSKA, became interested in the football player for the first time.

If in 2002 "Uralan" retained a residence permit in the elite championship of Russia, then according to the results of 2003, the Elistas had to return back to the First Division, where Kolodin was not going to play. In total, Denis played 44 matches for Uralan, scoring 3 goals in them.

For 1.35 million euros in 2004, the footballer moved to the Samara “Wings of the Soviets”. Having proven himself on the good side in the first matches, Kolodin earned a place at the base of the “Wings”. In the same year, the football player was first called up to the Russian national team, led by Georgy Yartsev. On August 18, Denis made his debut in a match against the Lithuanian team (4:3).

Due to the financial crisis in 2005, Samarans had to put up for sale a number of players in order to pay off their debts in this way. At that moment, “Wings of the Soviets” received an offer for Kolodin from Dynamo Moscow, which offered 1.8 million euros for the player. The amount suited the club, and the conditions suited Kolodin, although it is worth noting that the football player did not want to leave Samara, and his decision was forced.

On June 2, 2005, the football player made his debut for the Blue and Whites in a match against CSKA, which ended with a score of 0:2. Kolodin also scored his first goal against the army team, but already in November. On the next year“blue and white” barely managed to keep their place in the Premier League, but neither the fans nor the team management had any complaints about Kolodin.

In 2007, Denis' goalscoring abilities were re-opened. For the whole year, Kolodin scored 9 goals, which became his personal record. A year later, the footballer received his second (the first was bronze in 2004 as part of the Wings of the Soviets) a significant award, having won bronze medals in the Russian championship with Dynamo.

In 2008, Kolodin played for the Russian national team in matches at the European Championship, received carte blanche from the team's mentor, Guus Hiddink. Even after the failure of the first game against the Spaniards, when 2 goals were scored from Denis' zone, head coach did not change his mind, allowing the Dynamo player to play in the remaining matches. It was not possible only to re-take part in the meeting with Spain in the semi-finals due to a bust of yellow cards. Recall that following the results of the draw, the Russian team won bronze medals.

In 2010, there were rumors that Denis decided to buy the St. Petersburg "Zenith", but the head coach of the team from the banks of the Neva - Luciano Spalletti denied the information.

Together with Nikita Simonyan and Rinat Dasaev, Denis Kolodin is the ambassador of the organizing committee of the Russian bid for the 2018 and 2022 World Championships.

Today the Russian national team will play the second match of the group stage at the home match of the World Cup. In St. Petersburg, the wards of Stanislav Cherchesov will meet with the team of Egypt. In the event of a win or a draw, the Russians can secure their first place in the post-Soviet history in the playoffs of the world championship and the second exit from the group at major tournament. This opportunity was given to the national team by the defeat of the Saudi Arabian team (5:0) in starting match World Cup 2018.

V last time The Russian football team achieved a major success in the summer of 2008, when, under the leadership of Guus Hiddink, the Russians reached the semi-finals of the European Championship in Austria and Switzerland. One of the heroes of that stellar squad was central defender Denis Kolodin, who recently ended his playing career.

On June 14, the footballer attended the opening match between the teams of Russia and Saudi Arabia, and on Sunday attended the Germany-Mexico match (0:1) at Luzhniki, after which he gave an interview to Izvestia. During the conversation, Denis Kolodin appreciated the performance of the Russians at the World Cup, and also spoke about the phenomenon of the 38-year-old defender of the national team Sergei Ignashevich and his current activities.

- Were you surprised by the score with which the Russian team defeated the Saudi Arabian team?

In itself, the winning result did not really surprise me. I thought that we can win, and not with the smallest score. For example, 3:0. But I did not expect that Russia would score five unanswered goals. To be honest, I believed in victory from the very beginning. After all, we are a big country - in many aspects, including football. Why should we doubt ourselves? Therefore, they should have easily won.

How is the current Russian team different from the team of ten years ago, which excelled at Euro 2008?

We had an individually strong Arshavin. And the rest of the half of the team remained the same. Remained Zhirkov, Akinfeev, Ignashevich. As for the game, I don't know how the current national team differs from that one. Just then there were individually bright players. Now there are simply no guys like Arshavin. Maybe only Golovin will reach his level.

Is it due to the fact that Ignashevich, Zhirkov and Akinfeev are so good even at their age? Or do they just not have a worthy replacement?

Do not know. Maybe there is a replacement, but none of the clubs are looking at talent. 10 years have passed, and there are, in fact, no new people of this level. Especially as a central defender.

- So, in 2022, at the World Championships in Qatar, is it worth waiting for the 43-year-old Ignashevich?

Oh sure (laughs). I'm waiting for Ignashevich at the next championship.

- Does it surprise you that at 38 he still plays for the national team at the World Cup?

If you go through your entire career without injury, then, of course, you have a lot of strength. I also thought that I would play until the age of 50. But once it broke - and the strength is already less. Therefore, God forbid Ignashevich to go even further without injury. And so that the coaches still trust him.

- Did you have the opportunity to avoid the epidemic of injuries that happened after Euro 2008?

Do not know. These injuries happened by accident when, for example, I ran in the wrong direction on the field. I didn’t have such that out of the blue the back of the thigh was torn due to the fact that I didn’t warm up properly. He just ran to the wrong place at the wrong time. Here is the result.

- Which players and teams in the early days of the World Cup made the biggest impression on you?

I really liked the game of Portugal and Spain. If judged personally by the players, the Portuguese defender Guerrero looked good. Argentina has one Messi running around, he stands out from the background of his partners. But in general, in terms of dedication, almost all the players at this World Cup play to the limit. Everyone gives 150%. Not like in clubs, when they can afford to play imposingly in certain parts of the season. At this World Cup, everyone shows the maximum of what they can.

- What do you expect from the match between Russia and Egypt? How important will Salah's presence on the pitch be?

I think you need to look first of all at your game. It doesn't matter if Egypt plays with or without Salah. Imagine that he does not represent Egypt, but Saudi Arabia. Would this change the result in their match against us? I think no. Unless they could win not 5:0, but 4:0. Nothing would have changed. I think Uruguay would beat this opponent with 10 goals with Salah.

- How important is the starting victory?

We have taken a very important first step. It is especially pleasing that it was accomplished in the form of a victory with big bill. This gives Russia tremendous self-confidence. A stone has fallen from our shoulders, the pressure has decreased - now we must fly on wings to victories in the next matches.

- Did you have a similar situation in 2008?

We also played hard against Spain (1:4) and Greece (1:0). It was only later that we ran at full speed in the quarter-finals with Holland (3:1 in extra time). And before that, I would not say that we were running somewhere at full speed. Is that the friendly matches before the Euro played better. But we do not know what tasks Cherchesov set for the last preparatory meetings. Maybe he specifically gave instructions to roll back, to check the reliability of the defense. We do not know whether the result in those meetings was important for the coach.

- What are you doing now?

I work in Khimki as a children's coach. I was invited there by Alexander Kiselyov, director of the local school Olympic reserve, who once worked as the head of the Dynamo Moscow team when I was a club player. Once we phoned and met when I was still playing. Kiselyov said that he works at Khimki, and made me promise that I would come to work for him when I finished playing. I finished and immediately went to him.

- What age group are you leading now?

Born in 2011 - the youngest at the moment. At the same time, I study at the Higher School of Coaches (HST) and look at the profession. It's hard to decide which way to go next. After all, I just recently finished my career as a football player. I need to unlearn, look around and already decide what I want to do. So far I've only been working for 3-4 months.

Has the work with children in football changed compared to what Leonid Slutsky offered his wards in Volgograd, when you and Roman Adamov played at his Olympia school?

I once asked Leonid Viktorovich: “How to work with children? What to give them? What did you give them? To which Slutsky replied: "See for yourself and decide how to work." I prefer to let my players play more with the ball. They are children - they don’t want to fold yet, they want to play more with the ball.

And with whom does this not happen? Recently "Hamburg" in Germany took off. It happened with other famous clubs. Of course, this is unpleasant. I talked to some people from Dynamo and know a little about what happened that season at the club. I won't say publicly what happened there, but it's not serious. It's good that they quickly returned to the Premier League and had a decent season, finishing eighth. They started this championship hard, but they gave a good ending.

He began his professional career at Olimpia Volgograd, then played at Uralan. In 2004 he moved to the Samara "Wings of the Soviets", where he began to show good game, won the sympathy of the fans and was called up to the Russian national team for the first time. In June 2005, due to financial problems, Krylia was sold to Dynamo Moscow.

He played for the youth and Olympic teams of Russia, since 2004 he has been regularly called up to the main team. He played 4 matches at the 2008 European Championship, which was successful for the Russians.

Youth

Denis Kolodin was born in 1982 in Kamyshin. Denis was the first child in the family - he has a younger brother Andrei. He lived in a hostel with his mother and stepfather. His mother, originally from Belarus, worked as a saleswoman, he never knew his own father, and in childhood he considered his stepfather to be such. Denis loved to swim and fish, and in the wake of the success of the local Tekstilshchik, like most of his peers, he became interested in football. He got into the section when he was in the first grade of the school - he and several classmates were invited by the coach of SDUSHOR-2 Vladimir Zorkov. The children's team, in which Kolodin played, won 5 tournaments in 3 years.

In 1994, Denis and two of his teammates were noticed by representatives of the Volgograd Olimpia, which needed reinforcement to play in the Children's football league. The future football player did not want to leave for an unfamiliar city and live in a boarding school, but Olimpia coach Leonid Slutsky persuaded Denis to move. Initially, Kolodin played as a striker, and at the junior level he often became the top scorer. He was forced to change his position by problems with his right knee - having undergone surgery and not training for a long time, Denis both professionally and physically lagged behind his peers in development, after which he could not return to the attack. Slutsky identified the player in midfield, and later gave him a place in the center of defense.

In 1996, Olimpia won the DFL and began playing in the amateur national championship with almost the same squad. At the amateur level, Olimpia also did not stay long - in the second year, Volgograd got the right to play in the second division of the PFL.

Club career

"Olympia"

In 2000, the professional stage began in Kolodin's career. The next two seasons, which he spent at Olimpia, Volgograd played in the Volga zone of the Second League of the PFL.

Denis was a solid base player - 32 matches in the 2000 season and 34 in the 2001 season. Kolodin played as a stopper and had impressive performance indicators for a player of this role - in two years he scored 14 goals. Olimpia at that time was a promising young team. Together with Kolodin, Roman Adamov and Andrei Bochkov began their careers in it. In the second division, Olimpia showed a good game: in the debut season, the Volgograd team became 10th, and in 2001 it was already in the top three. In the same year, Kolodin could end up in the Vienna "Austria" - a scout of the Austrian club watched him and his teammates Zhdanov and Ryabykh, but in the end all three remained in Volgograd.

"Uralan"

In 2002, Slutsky left the team, going to train the double of the Elista Uralan. The Kalmyk club played in the Premier League. Soon Slutsky invited Kolodin to watch at a club gathering in Turkey. The young player approached coach Sergei Pavlov, and on February 8 Kolodin's transfer to Uralan was announced. As Denis later stated, perhaps a case helped him - Pavlov was also a native of Kamyshin and, perhaps, wanted to help his fellow countryman. Kolodin's debut game as part of Uralan was a friendly match between the team and the Hungarian Ferencváros, which ended in a 0-0 draw. In this game, Denis replaced Igor Chugainov, who left for the training camp of the Russian national team.

Despite the fact that Kolodin was counted as a double player, he managed to gain a foothold in the club and proved to be brighter than other newcomers from Elista. After 6 matches for the second team of Uralan, on April 13, Denis played the first official match per new club against Anji. Uralan finished the 2002 season in 13th place and avoided being relegated, while Kolodin played 22 matches in which he scored one goal against Zenit. After the championship, the footballer received several offers from famous clubs, including CSKA. The transition was prevented by the irresponsible, according to Kolodin, attitude of the leaders of CSKA, although the defender had already flown to Moscow for negotiations. Moscow "Spartak" wanted to exchange midfielder Vasily Baranov for Kolodin, but this deal fell through.

As a result, Denis stayed in Elista. The next season was less successful for the Elista club - Uralan flew out of the Premier League. Kolodin, who again played in 22 matches, was one of the few players on the team who made a positive impression, although according to the player himself, he spent the season unstable. This was also noted by the head coach of the Elista team, Igor Shalimov, who said that in that season Kolodin was hindered by the “disease of age”. In addition, in that championship, for the first time in his career, Denis received a long-term disqualification - for 5 matches. In the match with Zenit, it seemed to the footballer that "the referee helps them, but drowns us." In that game, Kolodin received two yellow cards, both for disputes with the referee, and later the control and disciplinary committee regarded his actions as "an attempt to physically influence the referee."

After the departure of Uralan, there were few chances that Denis would remain in the team. Slutsky advised the player not to sign contracts with serious clubs for another year, but despite this, Kolodin did not have to play in the First Division - he began the 2004 season as part of the Wings of the Soviets. The transfer amount was 1.35 million euros. Krylia President German Tkachenko said that Kolodin is "one of the most promising Russian players, a strong, tenacious defender who can also play in the position of a defensive midfielder", noting that several prominent Russian and Ukrainian clubs, among which are Dynamo Kiev, Shakhtar and Zenit. St. Petersburg's mentor Vlastimil Petrzhela was interested in buying Denis, calling him a "smart, powerful, young guy", but Zenit and Uralan did not agree on the price.

Kolodin's debut match for the Wings took place on March 21, after which he firmly took his place in the main team of the Samara team. In the first season on account of his 25 games played. It was here that Denis finally retrained as a central defender. “Wings” created a sensation that season, winning the bronze of the championship and gaining the right to play in the UEFA Cup, and in the key match with Saturn near Moscow, it was Kolodin who equalized the score by scoring his only goal in that championship. Also, "Wings" reached the final of the Cup of Russia, but lost to "Terek". Kolodin's game did not go unnoticed - Georgy Yartsev called the player to the Russian national team, and on August 18 Denis made his debut for the national team in a match with Lithuania (4:3).

In the course of the 2005 season, it became clear that the Wings would not be able to repeat last year's success - a financial crisis broke out in the club. The team dropped out of the UEFA Cup in the first round, losing to the Dutch AZ, but having managed to impose a fight - the Dutch went further only due to goals scored on the road (Kolodin did not participate in European Cup matches). The financial situation in the club was deteriorating, and it became clear that the Wings would have to part with some players. In May, at the end of the first round of the championship, Kolodin moved to the growing Dynamo, the transfer amount was 1.8 million euros. Kolodin recalls warmly about the time spent in Samara - against the will of the Dynamo leaders, Denis insisted that he be allowed to play a farewell match with Amkar, and in an interview said that if it were not for financial problems, he would not have left the club .

"Dynamo"

The second half of the season Kolodin finished playing in Dynamo. On June 2, Denis made his debut for a new club in a match against CSKA (0: 2), and in November he opened the scoring for Dynamo by scoring against the same CSKA. The first season was not too easy for the defender, although he spent enough time on the field, Dynamo coach Ivo Wortmann sometimes did not put the player in the squad. Another negative moment was Kolodin's skirmish with Manishe and Jorge Ribeiro, which almost escalated into a fight, for which Wortmann applied disciplinary sanctions to the defender. In August, there were rumors about a possible transfer of Kolodin to Moscow, but the negotiations did not develop. Denis was one of the few Russians who had playing practice at Dynamo during the Fedorychev era. In total, Kolodin played 27 matches that season (14 for Wings, 13 for Dynamo). Dynamo finished the championship in 8th place.

2006 was the worst year for Dynamo Russian history. The club finished the championship in 14th place, one step away from relegation from the Premier League. Kolodin scored 27 matches and one goal that season. The general failure of the team did not prevent the recognition of Denis's game personally - the RFU Executive Committee included the player in the list of 33 best players in the Russian championship. Kolodin, along with Ignashevich, became the best central defender.

In the 2007 season, Dynamo managed to improve the game. The season turned out to be successful for Kolodin, who opened himself from a new side - as a scorer. Denis scored 9 goals, which was his personal record for performance in one season. After the first round, Kolodin, the defender, was in the lead in the scorers dispute, and at the end of the championship he remained the best among the Dynamo players. It is noteworthy that Denis did not score any of the goals from the game: 7 goals were the implementation of a penalty kick, 2 more were scored from free kicks. As a result, Dynamo took 6th place, Kolodin, who played in 27 matches, was again included in the list of 33 best players in the Russian championship, but already at number 2, Sergey Ignashevich became the best in the position of Denis, according to the RFU.

In 2008, Dynamo continued to progress - the result was 3rd place and the opportunity to take part in the Champions League. This was Kolodin's second bronze medal in the Russian championship. Also this season
