Is Nel Big big or huge? Target localization technology.

Buying a search coil for a metal detector is always a feast for a digger, but you need to know what to buy. As you know, there are a great many types of search coils, there are many manufacturers, one is better than the other. There are DD and mono coils, small snipers, ellipsoidal and large for quick penetration of territory. Which coil to choose so that it not only meets your requirements, but also matches your metal detector.
Since my colleagues and I are still using metal detectors of the x terra series, we will consider which coils are suitable for them. Today we will disassemble a large coil for quick "combing" of a large area - depth reel Nel Big Tornado that fits all models in the terra x series are:

Terra series metal detectors are still very popular, because the price for them is quite reasonable, and the quality and efficiency of the search are at a height. Therefore, for them there are a lot of different coils designed to facilitate the search and make it even more convenient and effective.

So, the Nel Big Tornado deep reel.

The design of the coil is carefully worked out, it is very rigid, since the coil weighs a lot (900 grams), so the attachment to the metal detector must be of high quality. The large spool diameter (43 x 38 cm) allows you to comb large areas in a relatively short period of time. In addition to the large diameter, the coil gives out a phenomenal depth of detection of coins, for example, Catherine's penny can be seen at a depth of 50-55 cm.However, you can immediately forget about small targets, on the surface it will hook them, of course, but if a little deeper, you will probably miss them. Well, the large depth coil is not intended for searching for small things, but for searching for treasures and large coins, which you cannot see just fine.

Some features of working with a coil - the mobile phone must be turned off when working with this coil, since the phone, when searching for a signal, phonit and the coil gives false positives.
The coil seems to be just huge, with such an abandoned village you can explore in 3 hours maximum))
As an additional reconnaissance coil, it will be very useful, after all, you first need to find a place on the tract where coins come across, and then carefully "beat" this place with other coils, such as a high-frequency one at 18.75 kHz (allows you to catch medium and small targets more deeply ).

The cost of the coil is decent - 9800 rubles for 2012.

You can find out more about the power and depth of the coil in the video review.

For devices up to 2013!

1. Direct deliveries! Our store works directly with the Nel brand. All coils have a manufacturer's warranty.
2. High-quality advice on the work of technology. We are engaged in the search ourselves. Let's explain everything that is incomprehensible in simple, accessible language.
3. I didn’t like the product - bring it back or send it back! If the presentation and performance are preserved, we will return the money without questions.

The Nel Big 15x17 "is the largest Nelic DD coil for Minelab X-Terra detectors. Due to its increased diameter, it is best suited for deep exploration. Recommended for use on soils without excessive contamination of metal debris. Handles well in conditions of high mineralization of the ground.

Comparison of the Nel 12x13 coil and the Nel Big

Rigid construction and serious size make the model extremely sensitive to small and large targets, lying at a depth of 50 centimeters! The air test for Catherine's penny shows a result of 58 cm.The same test in heavy soil - 45 cm.In comparison with standard coil demonstrates a 40% increase in depth and 50% in scan area. If you use the device strictly for its intended purpose (for reconnaissance), it will be difficult to compete with it.

The coil is equipped with a signal amplifier for better work on difficult ground, reliably protected from interference of any origin. As always, the proprietary awkward filling of the case is at its best. The sensor is completely waterproof. Elastic sealed gland eliminates the appearance of phantoms. The strongest composite coating allows you to work with the reel without additional plastic protection (included in the kit).

It's about Nel Big, Nel Attack, Nel Tornado, Nel Storm

It happens that treasure hunters who first tried out in a real search large diameter spools produced by the company NEL, complain about some instability in their work, false positives, etc.

As a rule, the problem is that users simply do not take into account a number of features inherent in these particular coils and try to work with them in the same way as with the standard ones that come with the series metal detectors. X-Terra.

In fact, it is enough to understand a few simple rules and NEL search coils will delight you not only with stable work on different types ground, but also tenacity to all sorts of useful purposes (not only coins) and, of course, an unrivaled depth of detection.

The impressive coil diameter naturally provides more ground coverage when scanning. On the one hand, this, of course, will reduce the number of misses of useful targets during wiring, but on the other hand, more garbage targets fall into the coil's sensitivity zone, and, in addition, interference from the ground is much more noticeable. The same situation with the depth of detection, larger coil diameter - larger and depth of detection, but in this case, again, the "left" objects fall into the sensitivity zone and the amount of interference from the ground increases.

Firstly, it is necessary to reasonably select the site for the search. The question is, what can you do on a brownie spot (strewn with metal garbage) with a 15-inch steering wheel? The answer is obvious - to get a "dislocation of the brain."

A large diameter is used to work in places that are free of metal debris; this can be either a total cleanup of a promising site, or reconnaissance of the area.

Secondly, the wiring must be considerably slower than with standard coils, because a certain number of non-useful targets is in any case present in the ground + natural interference from the ground, respectively, with a large-diameter coil, the device's "brains" need more time to process the signal, the area of the scanned ground is larger. Slow sweeps help you better understand what kind of target you have under the coil, i.e. clearer identification of the object.

Thirdly, it is unnecessary to try in mandatory raise the sensitivity of the metal detector to the maximum values. NEL search coils have implemented latest technology DD Booster (built-in passive amplifier), plus a diameter of 15 - 17 inches, which allows them to "see" targets at a much greater depth at lower sensitivity values than standard coils.

It is extremely important to tune out ground interference as often as possible, not fundamentally, in manual mode or in a car, the main thing is not to forget to periodically repeat this procedure.

As you know, even in the same field, the type of soil can change up to several times, and if for coils of medium (relatively speaking) diameter this is not so critical, then the stability of the "rudders" is very much affected.

Also, the stability of the large-diameter coil is significantly affected by the correct tuning from electrical noise. At one time, the manufacturer generally recommended setting the interference cancellation channel to 0.

Another point, if your traveling shoes have metal inserts, it is better to choose a different shoe. Large diameter coils (from 15 inches) perfectly "see" the metal in the shoe and, of course, react to it.

By the way, when installing the NEL coil instead of the standard one, it is recommended (and it works) to restart the device... Personally, I made sure to carry out this procedure on my Terra 705.

Everything is simple here.

  1. Install the NEL coil, with the device turned off, simultaneously press the + and - buttons.
  2. Turn on the device.
  3. After the icons begin to appear on the screen in turn, displaying all the options of the metal detector, the + and - buttons can be released.
  4. We are waiting for all the icons to appear on the display and turn off the device.
  5. We turn on the metal detector, set the necessary settings for all parameters, do ground balancing and go ahead.

Don't forget about these simple rules and NEL coils will not disappoint you.
