The main family holiday of the country - New Year - is awaited by both adults and children impatiently. After all, this holiday is special. And on New Year's Eve, everyone wants to look irresistible and stunning. Of course, you can just wear an evening dress, but this is the easiest option, but you can choose carnival costume... For example, the outfit of any animal is suitable for children. This article will provide tips on how you can make a horse costume. It is not at all necessary to buy such a garment, it is better to spend time, arm yourself with imagination and make it yourself.

Example one: how to sew a horse costume

The first box will be useful to us for making the body of an animal. Measure the half girth of your hips and add another ten centimeters. This will be the hole. A suit will be put on through it. Work description
1. Simulation
The suit is sewn according to the basic pattern of a vest and jacket. The pattern of the sleeve and trousers must be divided into two parts, the lower part must be widened (bell).

Shake the can of paint and apply "apples" to the details of the pattern made of gray gabardine. Pre-practice on an unnecessary piece of cloth. In order for the "apple" to have a "soft contour", it is necessary at the time of spraying to move the hand to a greater distance.

3. Sewing

Pants.
Sew the details of trousers and sockets. Iron the seams. Sew side and crotch seams. Insert the trousers one into one and sew the middle seam. Run a drawstring along the upper cut of the trousers. Insert elastic band... To embroider the sockets of the trousers with sequins.

Tail.
We attach the tail to the belt of the trousers. The length of the tail is not below the knees.

Tunic.
Cut and sew a tunic according to the pattern and description from any sewing magazine. Run sleeves with sockets. Make cuts on the sides of the tunic. Treat the neck with a shank, the ends of which are at the same time strings. To embroider the sockets of the sleeves and the shelves of the tunic with sparkles, decorate with rhinestones.
Choose a braided belt with long ends, or make one yourself. To do this, sew three long rolls and braid them with a pigtail. Sew a few bright kitties on the tunic (see sketch). If you wish, you can decorate the back with a horseshoe applique.

Hat.
Cut and sew the hat Sew the mane (faux fur with very long pile or boa) along the middle seam of the hat. The free end should hang back a few centimeters (up to the shoulder blades).

For the child, there are still two options for the New Year's horse costume.

Option one: as a horse's body, you need a brown overalls or pajamas (preferably made of plush or corduroy), long black cuffs are sewn to the sleeves and legs, imitating horse hooves. Overalls or pajama shirt must necessarily have a hood to which the horse's head will be sewn.
To make a horse head, you need to make two patterns that mirror each other, carefully fold them from the seamy side, after inserting the fringe inside, sew on a sewing machine. Then the workpiece should be turned out "there" and filled with any padding material, carefully sewn up along the edge. Horse ears can be made from two pieces of cardboard, lined with fabric. The horse's eyes are made of buttons or felt, cut in the shape of a circle.
If making a horse's head is problematic, then you can use a mask made of cardboard or origami.
Don't forget about the tail and mane, which can be made from any suitable material (rope, fur, strips of fabric, etc.).

If it is hot at the New Year's event and there is a fear that the child will sweat a lot, then a completely closed suit will not work. In this case, you can limit yourself to the sleeveless suit.

Option two: the child will not be a horse, but a horse rider. For this, a cloth horse is made, which, with the help of suspenders, is fixed on the body so that the horse's legs are above the floor level. Examples of such costumes of a child on a horse in the photos below:

And not everyone has time to figure out how to sew a horse costume according to patterns, and not everyone knows how to sew. But a simple Konik or Horse costume can be built by every mother, and for this you will need just something:

- a hat or a hood from a jacket, fur coat - preferably the color of a horse suit, brown, red, although you can also blue or green, to match the color of the New Year's Horse;
- a flap of fabric for the ears;
- a skein of yarn for the mane and tail;
- thread, needle, scissors.

How to make a New Year's horse costume:

We wind the yarn into a long skein. It is convenient to wrap stools around the legs, but not too tightly. From one end we tie the skein with a strong thread or tape, from the other we cut it. It turns out a ponytail! The mane can be made in the same way.

We sew ears to the cap or hood (you can see it at this link in the article "How to make a horse on a stick"), and between the ears we fix the mane.

The tail can be sewn directly to the pants or skirt, or you can make a belt to which you can attach the tail.

Instead of a hat, I used a hood from a fur coat, stitching its edges so that a mane was obtained from the fur, and sewing on the ears.

A simple homemade horse costume is ready! Optionally, you can supplement it with almost real hooves with horseshoes! I read a gorgeous idea - black socks are put on hands and feet, to which horseshoes are sewn. Class! Clinks like a real horse! This is an option for the most creative - you just need to get horseshoes somewhere. Just choose the light ones, otherwise it can turn out like in my favorite cartoon.
