Men's pursuit biathlon December 4 results. Mäkäräinen and Wierer to compete for the Big Crystal Globe? Russia is still out of the game

The beginning of this season at Fourcade did not work. He won only one individual race - the very first, an "individual" in Pokljuka, in the sprint he finished only in the third ten, and in the pursuit race after four misses he left the race altogether, having received a decent portion of criticism and accusations of cowardice and inability to lose ... The Frenchman said that after moving to Hochfilzen, he met a family that helped him to cheer up, and spent most of the time in his room, sleeping off and watching TV shows.

Fourcade calmed down, Be got nervous

In the sprint held on Friday in Tyrol Fourcade finished second, losing only to the rapid Johannes Be... After the race, the Frenchman admitted that it was difficult to fight a Norwegian who adores local tracks in Hochfilzen, but he was glad that he himself returned to the fight.

It turned out that these were not mere words. Martin announced his "comeback" loudly in Saturday's pursuit. She, performed by the seven-time winner of the Big Crystal Globe, turned out to be indicative. Zero misses on the firing line with a characteristic gesture towards the stands after the last one was allowed even with not the most fast pace(30th time only) Win a landslide victory.

Have Johannes Be however, the undisputed leader of the World Cup, the pursuit failed. All his troubles began at the second shooting range, where he missed three times. To these three were added three more errors on two racks. But even with six penalties, the Norwegian defended a place in the top ten, losing Fourcade exactly a minute. There was still no one equal to him on the track.

Relay riddle

Alas, Be was not the only one who missed the shooting range in the bright Hochfilzen sun. Matvey Eliseev made five penalties and finished only 29th. "Distinguished himself" and Dmitry Malyshko, who introduced himself as the leader of the Russian national team before the start of the season. At the very first stage, he left four targets uncovered, and later one more was added to them. The 31-year-old biathlete was among the laggards in the move (one and a half minutes from Be) and finished the race only 48th. Alexey Slepov performed even worse, finishing 49th, losing 4 minutes 16 seconds to the winner. It is likely that he will not go to the next stage of the World Cup in Czech Nove Mesto.

And the coaches will have to seriously smash their heads over who to put on Sunday in the first relay of the season. They say a world champion can drive up from Ridnaun, Italy Anton Babikov, who finished second in the sprint at the IBU Cup on Saturday.

The only one whose place both in the relay quartet and in the Russian national team as a whole does not raise questions - at least for coaching staff and the leadership of the RBU is Alexander Loginov... The two-time bronze medalist of the stage in Pokljuka, who was pretty much nerve-racked by well-known events in Austria, having started in the eighth pursuit, improved his result by one position. After the second firing line, the Russian was third, but one miss on each of the stands deprived him of his hope for a prize place. He finished seventh, losing Fourcade 43 seconds. But on the whole, the struggle for "flowers" turned out to be very tight.

The fast-footed Austrian was not allowed into the top six of the Russian Eberhard, italian Hofer and Swiss Weger... The company Fourcade on the podium were German Peiffer, for which one miss turned out to be uncritical, and who shot like a Norwegian Christiansen.

Stage of the World Cup in Hochfilzen. Women. Pursuit
1.Kaisa Makarainen (Finland) - 30.53.1 (3)
2. Paulina Fjalkova (Slovakia) - 1.5 (2)
3. Dorothea Wierer (Italy) -2.8 (4) ...
8. Irina Starykh (Russia) - 24.8 (0) ...
18. Evgenia Pavlova (Russia) - 1.25.6 (0) ...
20. Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht (Russia) -1.32.9 (4) ...
48. Valeria Vasnetsova (Russia) -3.46.1 (5).

While in women's biathlon everything is predictable. Leaving the brackets as an individual in Pokljuka, in all personal races on the podium were and. And only they won. The current pursuit has not changed anything in this sense: Finnish first, Italian third. Everything goes to that Big crystal globe these girls will be fighting this season.

Yurlova-Perkht failed shooting

Before the start of the race, Russia also had hopes for a medal. Prior to the recent bronze medal in his entire career, there was only one World Cup sprint trophy. Almost three years ago - in Antholz. But, what is remarkable, then the Russian woman after the third place did not just slip in the pursuit, but won it! It means that there was something to hope for now. The 2015 world champion never excelled in super speed, but due to her stable and fast work at the firing lines, she sometimes fired. There was hope for this even now.

And after the first line, Ekaterina became the leader! Mäkäräinen missed once, Wierer missed twice, and Yurlova-Perkht worked exactly. It seemed like he was a chance. But already on the next prone Katya missed. And on the counter she did not succeed at all. The final four misses for the race is not a typical result for the ward. As a result, only 20th place.

The 21-year-old also got nervous. She has five penalties at once. And here we have passed four milestones with zeros. As a result, the first one made it to the top eight, and the second won back 10 positions and became 18th. With perfect shooting, in theory, everything should have been even better, but with the speed of the Russians, everything is still rather dim. Best result the Starykh move, but according to this indicator it is only 30th.

Loginov and Starykh will not be removed

Now the good news. Just before the race, journalists received a general mailing from the International Biathlon Union (IBU).

"The Board discussed the notification submitted by the Austrian authorities in connection with the ongoing investigation Russian team on biathlon this week and decided that no action was required at this time. This is partly due to the fact that the Austrian authorities did not provide the IBU with any additional information on ongoing investigations, in addition to what has already been published. The IBU remains focused on working with the current RBU leadership to meet criteria that will ensure Russian biathlon a more reliable anti-doping program. "

Recall that the Austrian police began an investigation into doping violations during the 2017 World Cup in Hochfilzen. There was a serious risk that all of them would be removed from the race until the end of the proceedings, and in the worst case, not even released from Austria. Fortunately, it did not come to this, our team will continue to perform at full strength.

Hopefully, this whole story will remain an absurdity, which will be remembered with bewilderment. But it's too early to exhale now. In the same Hochfilzen there was a high-profile case with the national team of Kazakhstan, to which the Austrian police raided right on the eve of one of the races. For a while, the story died down, the athletes continued to compete and said that they had not found anything and it all looked like a provocation. And right before the start of the season, the IBU suspended nine biathletes from Kazakhstan ...

So, in no case should the SBR leadership let this situation take its course.

Details of the women's pursuit race on 9.12.2018 as part of the first stage of the 2018-2019 Biathlon World Cup in Pokljuka - read in the material Pravda-TV.

Let's start our online day! The first thing that interests all of us, of course, is the weather in Pokljuka. Now it is cloudy in Pokljuka, but no precipitation. And according to the forecast, the sun was promised.

The first stage of the 2018-2019 Biathlon World Cup is coming to an end in Slovenska Pokljuka. The final race of the stage will be the women's 10 km graze. Beginning at 16:45 Moscow time.

Kaisa Mäkäräinen scored a gold double, following the sprint with a victory in the pursuit. In the top 10 according to the results of the pursuit - two Russian women. Irina Starykh finished eighth, Evgenia Pavlova rounded out the top ten.

LEADERS SHOOT WITHOUT LOST

If the men's pursuit gave us intrigue and became, perhaps, the brightest race of the stage in Pokljuka, the women's one was not so tense. No, there was excitement, and drive, and the struggle for positions - but only outside the top-2. The light wind that arose in the vicinity of the track did not affect the leaders in any way. Especially - on Kaisu Mäkäräinen. From the first meters, the Finca set such a pace that she removed the question about the winner in advance. No one could compete with her. On the lines, she also shot quickly and accurately. Result - 15 seconds of superiority over Wierer at the start turned 41 at the finish. Despite the fact that the charming Dorothea also did not make mistakes, she did not allow other opponents to approach her, and remained the second iron. The top three winners were closed by a Slovak Paulina Fialkova- in his fight for bronze with Lisa Vittozzi(and again the girls on the lines worked to zero!) more quick legs... But in general, the alignment was clear long before the finish line. This is for the men Johannes Be, leading with a large margin, first gave intrigue with his two misses in the last standing. Then the three leaders passed the last circle in a friendly company. Then there was the final spurt with a fall Alexandra Loginova on the final ascent ... And the photo finish, which determined the victory of the Norwegian in the face-to-face struggle with Quentin Fillon-Maillet... The spectators forgot how to breathe, the three prize-winners could hardly catch their breath at the finish ... We did not see this in the women's pursuit.

"THIS IS NOT THE RUSSIAN CHAMPIONSHIP!"

But we saw that the Russians can fight in the group of leaders! Specifically in this case - not for a place in the top three. But nonetheless. Initially, they did not expect much from the renewed roster of our national team. But the sprint has already shown - there is potential here! Not only Irina Starykh, who, having resumed her career, again became the leader of the team. Young biathletes do too. Even in September, Evgenia Pavlova herself had no idea that she would go to Pokljuka. And then bang right away - eighth place in the sprint! Margarita Vasilieva stayed 13th on Saturday. The old ones closed the first dozen. Not chic and shiny. But worthy!

On Sunday, almost all of our girls only improved their positions.

Pavlova especially tried. I walked along the zeros at the lines. She worked desperately with her feet. However, at the finish circle, the strength left. First, there was a hitch in the shooting, then fatigue affected. The eighth place has become the tenth. The best of ours turned out to be Old - just closed the top-8. Vasilieva, with one penalty, remained 15th.

“It's some kind of crazy race,” Margarita admitted on the air of Match TV. - Yes, this is not the Russian championship ... Everyone runs as if stung, from beginning to end. Nobody rolls, does not rest, does not give indulgences to himself. Arms, legs, head - and so on 100 percent the entire distance. It was difficult! But this will take some getting used to.

- I thought that I would withstand the entire distance at the same pace. The beginning seems to be normal. But then tiredness affected. Apparently, she did not fully recover after the sprint. On the last lap I couldn't add any more. Therefore, I just ran, trying to finish up to the finish line, - added Pavlova.

- What happened at the last shooting?
- The clip is not fully inserted. Took the time to fix the situation. Then I didn't think about the time. I just wanted to work it out cleanly.

“At the beginning it was very hard for me,” Starykh noted. - Based on how it all began, I, in principle, am happy with the result! I thought I would have to endure the whole distance. But after the third round, it began to let go. And the finishing one was able to go ahead of her group and hold the position. So in the end, everything is good!

The new day of competition in the Czech town of Nove Mesto within the 2018/2019 Biathlon World Cup was not in vain for the national team - another medal turned out to be in our piggy bank. Alexander Loginov won silver in the pursuit, which delighted the domestic fans and made his worthy competitors very angry.

First of all it comes about the Frenchman Martin Fourcade, who is still lagging behind Loginov in achievements in this season... The bitterness of the Frenchman can only be imagined - he, a world star, in the medal standings is lower than the "Russian", whom he never tires of accusing of doping. Note that Fourcade had a special attitude to Loginov last season - when the Russian expired the period of disqualification and returned to the competition in the Cup, Fourcade tried to arrange a real strike, and even noted a vile act - he pushed Alexander at one of the races.

Biathlon Race Dec 22, 2018 - Men's Pursuit Results

So, not bad today, December 22, showed all three Russian biathlete competing in the pursuit of the third stage of the Biathlon World Cup.

Loginov is the second. This is the fourth biathlete's medal this season. "Steeper than Shipulin" - this is how fans say about the athlete on social networks.

Matvey Eliseev came eleventh today, which will give him the opportunity to prove himself in the mass start tomorrow. Evgeny Garanichev finished thirteenth, and Dmitry Malyshko twenty-ninth - the results are also decent, especially when you consider that the last two athletes in the Cup recent times in the sixth, or even seventh, and eighth tens after the leaders.

The winner of the race, as expected, was the Norwegian Johannes Be, and Martin Fourcade came in fifth, although initially he wanted to refuse to participate in the competition altogether - it was too shameful for the leader to start “in the tail” after a failed sprint.

The second place was taken by the Italian Dorothea Wierer - it seems that she is not going to give up her place to anyone in the struggle for the crystal globe. Biathlon World Cup 2018/2019 3 stage pursuit women 12/22/2018 watch video

Biathlon Nove Mesto - schedule and results of the third stage of the World Cup

Tomorrow, December 23, the stage will host the first mass starts of the season. It is known that thirty athletes from women and men take part in them. Twenty-five first places in general medal standings and five the best athletes according to the results of the previous stage of the Cup.

Now all the hopes of the national team are directed towards Loginov and Starykh - they will definitely participate in races and are able to replenish the country's treasury with new awards.

As for the overall achievements, the Russians are performing quite well this season. So, on the account of our guys there are already five medals - three bronzes and two silver. One bronze was won by Ekaterina Yurlova in the sprint at the second stage of the Cup. The rest of the awards belong to Alexander Loginov. It's only the beginning…

Johannes Be won another race in the World Cup, and Alexander Loginov after the second place in the sprint he took silver in the pursuit.

Barely Alexander Loginov began to establish itself as one of the leaders of world biathlon in the new season, as talk about his past resounded again. The Russian won silver in the sprint two days ago and climbed to second place in the overall World Cup, when he again heard something about doping in his address. Even darling Johannes Be who wins everything in a row and is unconditionally in the lead in the overall standings, said something about the fact that Loginov must apologize for what he did in the past and for which he has already served a two-year suspension.

Alexander has no choice but to repeat the same thing: he wants to focus only on sports, competitions, training and racing.

Moreover, the races Loginov are given.

The first half of Saturday's pursuit Be and the Russians remained with their own people. The Norwegian slightly broke away from Alexander, who started second, but this pair left everyone else far behind. Even though both missed once on the first prone.

At the second shooting range Loginov missed again once and rolled back to third place, letting the shooter forward Be-senior... Our biathlete left the shooting range 5.5 seconds away from Tarjei, but they came to the third line at the same time. True, the chase cost the Russian dearly. He had only one mistake in the first race, but those who walked a little behind shot accurately, and the only mistake threw away Loginova in fifth place. Circle between two racks two brothers Be walked side by side with each other, and Loginov together with the Norwegian Biontegard imposed a fight on the French Destier.

The fate of the race was decided at the final shooting range. There, none of the five leaders could do without misfires. But Johannes Be shot the fastest and took the lead again after a penalty loop. Tarjei left the range 2.3 seconds late, and Loginov- by 5.1.

Alexander's final round was amazing. On the rise, he walked around Be-senior and made every effort to reach the younger one. But Johannes was very good again. He crossed the finish line first, and Alexander lost 6.2 seconds to him. It is important to note that at the finish line, the winner and the silver medalist shook hands in a friendly manner, looking into each other's eyes.

Tarja Be finished third, Destier defended his fourth position, and the fifth - attention! - finished Martin Fourcade... The Frenchman was very upset with 43rd in the sprint and was going to skip the pursuit altogether. But on the eve of the race, he changed his mind. He fought well both with himself and with rivals, and with the wind blowing on the shooting range. He turned out to be the only starter who did not make a single mistake, and played almost 40 positions. So do not write off the seven-time winner of the Big Crystal Globe from the accounts.

Loginov for the fourth time in the season he climbed to the podium, became a two-time silver medalist of the World Cup stage in Nove Mesto and secured the second place in the overall standings.

Matvey Eliseev, even despite four misses - the same as the younger Be and Loginova- moved up from 18th place to 11th, and Evgeny Garanichev won back 17 positions from himself, jumping from 30th to 13th. Thanks to the almost accurate shooting. And here Dmitry Malyshko on the lines, alas, was unreliable. He has eight penalties and only 29th. He does not get into the Sunday mass start.
