First of all, you need to determine the dominant eye. This is necessary for mastering aiming skills.

In most people, the dominant eye is the same as the dominant hand, but this is not always the case. To correctly identify it, you need to connect your thumb and forefinger. The resulting ring must be slowly brought closer to the eyes.

Both eyes must be open. You cannot look at the ring. The gaze should be directed through it to a distant object. The hand itself will intuitively approach the dominant eye.

1. When aiming, the front sight should be in the center of the rear sight (slot).
2. The upper part of the front sight is flush with the whole.
3. The target looks a little blurry, but it shouldn't be overlooked. Attention should be focused on the front sight and rear sight.
4. The top line of the front sight should coincide with the horizontal line of the target.

It is important to remain calm while doing this. In the absence of concentration, there is a high probability of a miss.

In particular, it was not entirely correct to put the very difficult "Change of store" classification in second place. We compared prices in shooting clubs based on the cost of 100 shots. But you need to understand that this is the minimum volume that makes sense to take with regular training. Better, of course, to take more - 200-300 rounds. After 100 shots, the shooter is just beginning to understand his mistakes, the next 50-100 shots are already shooting more consciously, trying to fix them, and another 50-100 shots to fix.

If your goal is to compete in any shooting competition, then you will have to train not once a week, but two or even three times. Accordingly, the costs will rise significantly.

What you need to take with you when you first visit a shooting club

To visit the shooting club, it is better to register in advance by phone. You must have a passport with you. In some clubs, it is required only for the first visit, in others, you will have to take it with you at all times. How many shots are enough to shoot enough

Usually, 100-150 shots per person are enough for an hour's training. You can take several types of weapons, for example, shoot from the legendary Glock and Beretta, Makarov and TT, determine for yourself which pistol you like best, which one is more comfortable for you to shoot and better hits. You can try shooting with a pistol and a carbine, or with several pistols and carbines. The only thing is that different clubs have their own conditions, somewhere in the first lesson you will be offered some kind of standard set of weapons, somewhere you will need to pay extra for each additional pistol or carbine.

Here it is necessary to clarify that shooting with live ammunition in bursts from automatic weapons is prohibited in Russia. Therefore, if you have a great desire to fire a couple of bursts from the Kalashnikov, then this can only be done with blank cartridges. Some shooting clubs offer this service.

During the recording, it is better to clarify whether the entire arsenal presented on the shooting club's website is available for order. It so happens that the site contains many models, but in reality, some of the weapons are not available for order. Of course, for those who do not really care what to shoot from, this is not a problem, but if you wanted to shoot from a particular model of a pistol, and for some reason it is not available (for repair or something else), and it will be found out only directly in the club, it will be a little offensive. Therefore, it is better to immediately clarify everything by phone.

In theory, aiming with a pistol is pretty easy, but you still need some practice to develop the skill of handling the weapon safely, holding and aiming confidently. Basic pistol shooting techniques

What do you need?

Keep the pistol in your dominant hand. Your dominant hand should wrap around the handle of the pistol with your thumb resting on the inside of the barrel.

• Your middle finger, ring finger, and little finger should wrap around the outside and front of the grip.
• The index finger should rest on the outside of the trigger guard.
• Holding the pistol this way will give you the maximum amount of leverage you need to reduce the swaying of the weapon in your hand during recoil.

Place your non-dominant hand on the other side of the handle. It will support the other hand and act as an additional lever when shooting.

• Place your hand as high as possible on the handle.
• All four fingers should be under the trigger guard, and the index finger should rest firmly on the bottom of the trigger guard.
• The thumb should be pointing forward and touching the other thumb.

Stance when firing a pistol

Assume a shooting position. Stand up straight with your feet firmly on the ground and aim the pistol at the target. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart with your knees bent slightly.

• This position will allow you to move easily while providing your body with stability.
• Raise the pistol in front of you. Your arms should be extended forward and slightly bent at the elbows. The gun should not be near your face.
• Tilt your body forward a little, imagine that you are "drilling" the wall with a drill. This will keep you balanced despite the recoil when shooting.

Aiming technique when shooting

Take aim. Follow the instructions below to properly aim at the target.

• Most people have the dominant eye on the same side as the dominant hand, but there are exceptions.
• To determine which eye is dominant, connect your thumb and forefinger together in a ring. Then extend your hand and look through the ring at some distant object.
• Begin to gradually bring the ring closer to your face, keeping both eyes open, but do not look at it. As a result, you will bring your hand to your dominant eye.

During aiming, the front sight and rear sight of the pistol must be in line. The pistol has a rear sight and a front sight. When you aim, the front sight should be exactly in the center between the two edges of the rear sight slot.

• The front sight consists of one part, and the rear sight consists of two parts with a slot.
• There should be the same distance between the front sight and the edges of the rear sight slot.
• The top of the front sight should also be flush with the edges of the rear sight.

Take aim. When you aim with a pistol, you will need to look at the rear sight, front sight, and the target. Of course, it is physically impossible to look at all three objects at once. Therefore, try to focus mainly on the front sight and rear sight. In this case, it is recommended to focus on the front sight (closer to the muzzle of the pistol).

• The target should look a little blurry. You should be able to see it, but it should be in the background and less clear than the front sight and rear sight.
• More specifically, you must concentrate on the front sight. It will help you determine the relative position of the pistol to your target.

Choose a spot on the target. The target has three places to aim. No location is preferable to the other, so you have to decide for yourself which one will be the most convenient for aiming.

• You can aim directly at the center of the target. To do this, you need to accordingly aim the upper part of the front sight at the center. The line of the top of the front sight must also coincide with the horizontal line of the center of the target.
• You can aim directly for the bullseye (this method of aiming is called 6:00 o'clock). In actual shooting, aim so that the top of the front sight slightly goes beyond the bottom of the black field of the apple.
• Or you can aim just below the apple (sub 6 aim). In actual shooting, the front sight should be directed approximately to the middle of the white part of the target field below the bull's-eye.

Concentrate. You will need patience and concentration. If you aim carelessly, then you will probably miss.

• Before shooting, make sure that the front sight is correctly positioned in the rear sight slot.
• Take your time and be calm. If you freak out and start trying to pull the trigger hard, you could lose your target and miss.

Pull the trigger and fire. Do this confidently, evenly, and do not tighten.

• Pull the trigger evenly. Press only on the front of the trigger.
• First pull the trigger until you feel resistance.
• Then keep pulling the trigger until you fire. Try not to expect it, as this often results in a miss.

Shooting safety

• Be sure to keep your index finger on the bracket before shooting.
• Point the gun in a safe direction. You should always point the pistol away from people so as not to injure anyone or cause damage to other people's property. If you are on a shooting range, hold the gun pointing downward.
• Consider that your pistol is loaded even if it is not. This is necessary to prevent a possible tragedy.
• You must clearly see where your target is, as well as all the space around it and beyond. It is important to make sure that all precautions are taken and that no one gets into the line of fire. The target must be positioned so that it does not pose a danger to anyone or anything in the vicinity of it. If you intend to shoot on private property, make sure there are no homes or businesses nearby.

According to the rules and regulations International Confederation of Practical Shooting (IPSC), or in English International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), since its inception, THREE "golden" basic rules for shooting safety have been established, also called the ARROW CODE:

Common aiming mistakes

Errors happen when aiming incorrectly. They occur if the front sight is incorrectly installed in the rear sight slot. How correctly you aim can be determined by bullet hits on the target.

• If the bullet fell below the center of the target, then when aiming, the upper part of the front sight was below the upper edges of the rear sight slot.
• If the bullet hit above the center of the target, then the top of the front sight was above the upper edges of the rear sight slot.
• If the bullet landed to the right of the center, then the front sight was closer to the right side of the rear sight slot.
• If the bullet landed to the left of the center of the target, then the front sight was located closer to the left side of the rear sight slot.

Parallel displacement. This error occurs when the front sight and rear sight are set correctly, but your hand throws up on recoil.

• It will all depend on where the recoil directs your hand - up or down. Accordingly, try to aim just above the center of the target or slightly below.

Errors when holding the pistol. Parallel displacement is not the only error that can occur when shooting. Bullet holes in the target can also indicate other errors.

• If the bullet hits the target closer to your dominant side, then you are most likely squeezing the pistol too hard with your thumb or squeezing the trigger too hard. Accordingly, if the bullet landed on the other side of the center of the target, then you press too weakly on the trigger.
• If you are right-handed and the bullet hit the lower right corner (or vice versa, if you are left-handed), then you are probably gripping your pistol too much when you pull the trigger. If you hit the lower left corner, then you are most likely pulling the trigger hard.
• If you are right-handed and the bullet hits the upper right corner (or vice versa if you are left-handed), then you expect a recoil when fired. If the bullet hits the upper left corner, then you also expect recoil or do not “follow the shot”.

Now you know (in theory) how to properly stand on your feet, hold a pistol and aim with it at a target. It remains only to consolidate this knowledge with practice. Therefore - boldly to the shooting range!
