The first match of the 9th round of the national volleyball championship took place in the Mogilev SC "Olympian". “Pramen” and BATE-BSU competed. The game was very intense. The first three games were played in an equal fight, the opponents were constantly going point for point. All ended with a score 25:23 ... The hosts took the starting and the second, the Borisov team took the third. In the fourth set, all the same was observed up to its equator. After the account became 11:11 , the guests made a rapid leap. The result is a confidently won game in favor of the Borisov volleyball players. There was a "swing" on the tie-break again, but still BATE-BSU snatched Victoria from the falling flag.

BUILDER or Shakhtar? For several years, the whole intrigue of the Belarusian volleyball championship was limited to these two teams. Yes, and that was invented for lack of an alternative: Minsk residents defended their championship without big problems... But it looks like it will not be easy to extend the “Builder's Day” this season. Firstly, the crisis significantly thinned the squad, and secondly, the team has to fight on two fronts - the Challenge Cup semi-final will probably take a lot of energy, and thirdly, a team appeared in the championship, which during the season has already won three matches out of four against Minsk. , finished the regular part of the tournament in first place and, apparently, does not plan to stop there. Therefore, Borisov's BATE-BSU guaranteed itself the title of the tournament opening and increased attention in any way.

"YES, I'm surprised myself that we are going so well!" - not yet accustomed to the attention that has fallen on him and the team Main coach volleyball BATE Sergei Chesnovitsky a little modest. From the very beginning, the team of Borisov set the task to stir up the championship, which had been dragging on for a long time. And not just excite, but win. True, it turned out to be more difficult to match the ambitions than it seemed:

We collected the team right up to the start of the championship. No preseason. Before last day did not know what budget we could count on. Yes, volleyball uses all the benefits of the system created at BATE: salaries are paid on time, at the training camp we have everything we need - equipment, food ... But all the expenses are on the club, and there, besides us, there is also football and its beach version. And for the region and the city, it seems as if we do not exist at all - there will be no help. And so the financial issue remained open until the last day.

The team was assembled after all. Moreover, they managed to persuade three players of the national team level, who had recently played in the “Builder”, to help the guys "pulled out" almost from behind the UOR's desk. When asked what the leaders were lured by, Chesnovitsky smiles: ask the guys, they say. According to Artyom Goremykin, he and the team “just found each other”:

I had an injury last year. The recovery dragged on until October, and suddenly I was not needed. Later they called me to "Builder", but did not want to. After all, they took a passing legionnaire, the bench was shining for me. Roma Aplevich's situation is similar - we were in the hospital together. And in BATE, the squad was good, we know the coach, they set ambitious goals ...

With Chesnovitsky, Goremykin and Aplevich seem to have played together quite recently. Therefore, it turned out to be easy for the coach who took control of the team to persuade his comrades. The main thing in such a business is to find the right motivation. And Sergey Alexandrovich knows how to motivate:

We are BATE. This is the level! Yes - a volleyball club, but it's still not serious if in standings BATE will lag behind. Therefore, our task is simple - at least the final. And there - how it goes.

It can "go" in different ways. "Builder" is the most likely opponent of BATE in the decisive battle - a titled and serious team. But Borisov already know how to beat Minskers. And the bets, according to Chesnovitsky, are well remembered: they will have to play for their own future.

Until recently, no one took our club seriously. Therefore, they do not meet us halfway, do not support us. They do not believe that volleyball BATE is for a long time and seriously. If we become champions, I'm sure the situation will change dramatically. And Anatoly Kapsky said that he would not offend, although at the beginning of the season there was no talk of any bonuses in our team. The guys themselves said: let's win something first.

The future in volleyball BATE are treated no less thoroughly than the present. They have already proved that it is possible to win the Belarusian championship even without the currently fashionable hobby for legionnaires. There is a reserve for strengthening, according to the trainers. And therefore, carried away, Sergei Chesnovitsky begins to draw in his imagination the future club pyramid.

We want to create a school. To have a base, a boarding school, as it should be. Interest, I think, will be. A couple of years ago, it seems, no one was interested in volleyball in Borisov at all: the whole city lived only in football. And now at the matches it is always noisy, they support us, they get sick.

Despite the club's “residence permit” in Borisov, all BATE players are from Minsk. As practice has shown, it is impossible to find a sufficient number of rented apartments or rooms in hotels in Borisov. And Artem Goremykin, like any Belarusian gamer, can talk about the problem of the capital with gambling halls for a long time:

In reality volleyball hall international level there is only one in the country - in Mogilev. That is why the national team plays there all the time. Even Chizhovka-Arena does not fulfill the new European requirements. After the adoption of the new regulations, the balcony above the site will interfere there. But we don't even aim at such a level - there would be where to play and train at all. Last year, for example, every day we went to trainings in Borisov. At 8 am they loaded onto the bus, at 8 pm they arrived home. Sleep. The schedule is still ...

V CURRENT SEASON BATE refused to live on suitcases for a completely mundane reason: it was too expensive for the club to ride the bus to Borisov every day. And therefore, the guys appear on the home court only on the day of the match or during the training camp. On other days, the battered Minsk hall with the apt name "Petrel" became their home for them. Aplevich frowns: “It's cold here. And the walls are close - you constantly crash. And yesterday it was a sunny day - it’s impossible to train at all: it just dazzles from the windows ”. Roma tactfully keeps silent about the frankly crooked boardwalk, which the guys have not driven themselves against so far only by a lucky coincidence. They don't complain about the conditions at all. They just work.

The volleyball championship of Belarus is the time of the semifinals. Tomorrow, old rivals - Stroitel Minsk and Shakhtar Salihorsk - will enter the Minsk site. And on Saturday, Borisov's BATE-BSU and Zapadny Bug from Brest will decide the fate of the second place in the final. On March 28, BATE-BSU will play the first return match in Brest, while Stroitel and Shakhtar will continue the battle only at the beginning of April due to the participation of Minskers in the Challenge Cup. The semifinal series of the Belarusian championship will last up to 3 victories of one of the teams.

Among the BATE players are a number of well-known names: Dmitry Likhorad and Roman Aplevich, Artem Goremykin, Oleg Mikhnyuk - ex-players of the national team, Vyacheslav Cherepovich - in the national squad and now. Fever is the best libero in Belarus, an experienced and skilled person and, according to BATE mentor Sergei Chesnovitsky, was main goal team breeders in the offseason.

By the way, it was possible to see the vice-champions of Belarus in action - at a friendly tournament in St. Petersburg, dedicated to the memory of Zinovy ​​Cherny, and the first one who attracted attention was just Dmitry Likhorad - the forty-year-old, early gray libero BATE was still jumpy, flexible and performed small feats in defense. This team generally plays defensive volleyball, and their opponents experienced certain problems with hitting balls to the floor.

Protection, one might say, is our signature element, - says Sergei Chesnovitsky. - Growth data like most Russian players we do not, so we need to get something, have some trump cards of our own. Before the "Torch" we will play two or three rounds of our championship, we still have opportunities to work out interactions, we will not force anything, we will gain speed along the distance. We have strengthened this offseason. It is not enough, I think, it would be possible to take a couple more players, but in any case, now it is a completely different conversation - we played with one seven in the last championship of Belarus, and the replacement was full of untrained youth.

- Have you strengthened for European competitions or for the championship?

For the championship. We decided to win the domestic championship, to stack on it, especially when we saw who we got at the start of the Challenge Cup. For BATE, this is the first experience in European competition, and getting your team into opponents ... We are very upset. When I was asked what preferences? I answered: "Anyone but Torch."

- Why? Do you think that there is no chance?

There is always a chance, but Torch is the worst case for us. Still, we consider him the main favorite of the entire tournament. But this does not mean that my team will not fight - no, we will give our best to the end. We have experienced guys, tournament fighters who have played in European competitions more than once and have shown results. So we are not going to look at the northern lights in Novy Urengoy.
