What is guitar fight?

In simple terms, this is a way of playing the guitar in which the right hand produces sound by striking the strings, practicing a certain rhythmic pattern. This is the most popular way to play. The battle in the descriptions for the songs is indicated in the form of a diagram, where the following elements are most often present:

V - hitting the strings down;

^ - hitting the strings up;

⃰ - muffling of strings;

_ - pause.

B - only the bass string is played.

Now let's look at an example. Let's think of any fight and depict it in the form of a diagram: V ^ _V * ^. Now, knowing the conventions, we understand that the sequence is as follows: hitting down, then hitting up, then pause, then hitting down again with the strings muffled, then up and repeating this whole combination.

I think there shouldn't be any questions here, so I'll move on to the next step.

Often novice guitarists ask: “How many guitar fights? " or they write something like: "Send in all the guitar fights ...". An experienced guitarist, after reading these lines, will certainly smile, because he perfectly understands that guitar fights cannot be measured in quantity. In support of this, I can add that you can invent fights yourself, just take a guitar and invent new schemes, modifying those given above. Therefore, you should not set yourself the goal of learning all the fights. To begin with, it is enough to know the main battles, and over time, the concept of "learning a battle" will by itself lose its meaning and each battle will be played by ear.

The main battles that are really worth paying attention to and studying are the following:

1. Simple fight. It is played according to the following scheme: V ^ V ^ - a variant without a ducking, V ^ V * ^ - a variant with a ducking. For clarity, it is worth looking at this type of battle.
2. Variety fight ("six"). This is the most popular fight that you can play with most songs if you want to. Its scheme is as follows: VV ^^ V ^ - variant without dimming, VV * ^^ V * ^ - variant with dimming. on the battle "six" can also be viewed on our website.
3. Fight "Eight". This type of combat is also quite popular and is played as follows: V_V_ ^ VV ^ V ^, and this is not its only designation. On the Internet, you can find several interpretations of this battle. The fact is that someone does not pause between strikes on the strings, someone alternates between thumb and forefinger, someone plays with a ducking, and so on. In any case, the rhythmic pattern remains the same, just with a different sound.
4. Thug fight. Several types of battles can be brought into this category, which are most often played by "thieves" songs. For example, a pluck (if, of course, it can be attributed to a fight), played according to the scheme B - 3 + 2 + 1 - 3 + 2 + 1 (three strings are played simultaneously). on this battle can be viewed here. Another kind of thug fight is played like this: B_v ^ B ^ v ^. This is one of the battles of Vladimir Vysotsky. And there are a lot of such fights.
5. Spanish fight. Many people notice that Spanish fights sound very nice and emphasize the ability to play the guitar. Indeed, such battles can be heard quite rarely, since they are rather difficult to study. There are also quite a few Spanish battles, so I will not describe them schematically, it will be much more useful to look at two beautiful battles.

These are several fights that immediately came to my mind. Perhaps there are other battles that can be equated to the "main" ones, I am not limiting the list. These fights are worth learning ("Spanish Fight" for beginner guitarists is a rather difficult element, learning it can be postponed), because initial stage playing the guitar, you need to develop your right hand as much as possible and automate it, so that, subsequently, playing fights without memorizing is not a problem.

Acquiring certain skills and gradually gaining experience, the guitarist no longer tries to memorize the fight, since the hand itself moves according to the beat of the game. For the early onset of this moment, you just need to take a song and try to choose a fight for it, accompanying it, and over time, practicing this skill will bear fruit. You just need to remember a simple rule: nothing happens right away and if something does not work out, this is a reason for training, and not for surrender. As the saying goes: "Further - more ...".

It is in vain for beginners to play the guitar initially learn chords, and then just try to put them, thinking that they will immediately get a beautiful playing. Guitar strings are a little difficult to train, so in order to make friends with them, you need to master some methods first, first of all, the fighting technique.

The classical game implies that a person will begin to study the notes and thus, clamping the desired string in the right place, will start extracting sounds. The result is a slender game.

But there is a somewhat simplified way - to play in combat... That is, the musician must strike the strings with almost the entire brush. right hand... There are several techniques that you need to master, which can result in a good accompaniment.

What kind of fights are there?

Let's make a reservation right away that the names are conditional. That is, there is no very precise classification, but there are just generally accepted names. They are used by most amateurs, but not professional guitarists.

• No jamming;
• Muted;
• Smooth battle;
• Spanish (figure eight);
• Thieves.

This is not the entire list. There are others, but these are the most common.... And first you need to study some of them. A few names will mean nothing to a budding guitarist. But, for example, "under Vysotsky" or "thug", "Spanish" - more or less well-known concepts.

How do you learn to play combat?

Only having learned the most famous chords, a beginner musician tries to play them. It is clear that if you hit the strings from all over the place, then nothing will work. You need to try to subdue your hand so that in the future it can accurately and softly extract the sound from the instrument. Actually, the expression "play with combat" is a bit wrong. It would be much more correct to call this technique a rhythmic pattern. There are several schemes that can be easily found in any tutorial.

A drawing, or as we call a fight, is created from a certain number of beats and pauses between them. We hold the neck with our left hand, that is, we put chords, and the right one already makes a melody out of them.

And here the most important thing is to have a good sense of rhythm. Otherwise, normal guitar playing will not work. Mostly this method is used when learning to play the acoustic guitar. It’s great, using this or that technique, to sing in good company a familiar song that everyone will pick up. Or even do something of your own.

You can learn to perform not only yard songs, but also learn a way of fighting that will allow you to play rock, jazz. For example, Spanish can help you master the country style. In general, the Spanish style is very interesting, it is a pity that it is not used as often as we would like.

The most famous notation:

• V - Striking the strings down, starting from the sixth;
• ^ - Blow up, from the first;
• x - Muting with the edge of the palm.

And now the most famous schemes:

• v v v ^ v is the most famous way.
• v ^ v ^ v - you need to play like this: hit down, then up, down again, up. Finish with a blow down.

If you try to muffle the strings with your hand, you can get this:

• v ^ vx ^ v ^ vx ^ - we will get such a game using the sound muting method.
• v vx ^ ^ vx ^ - the famous "six". Nice and slightly complex rhythm. But it's worth learning.
• v v v ^ ^ v v - not too much easy technique, but very common among both amateurs and professionals.

These are the most famous species. And, however, you can experiment endlessly here. And, learning more and more new chords, you can make up a huge number of combinations from them.

You can start playing music at any age, and you can always learn how to perform your favorite pieces by fighting.
For a beginner, the above types of combat are quite enough. But there is still a somewhat tricky Spanish fight. This is enough interesting trick, also called rasgeado (fan). And it also has its own types. Playing the guitar in this style is already the beginning of more meaningful actions than simple strumming.

Here you can list the following types: ascending rasgeado (with a hand from top to bottom), descending (it is clear that it is performed from bottom to top) and circular (the game combines both the first and second types of combat).

Guitar strumming is a kind of accompaniment or accompaniment in which the sound of the guitar strings is produced by striking them with the right hand or a pick. So, there are several varieties of it. Here I will try to explain the principle of the guitar fight in the most accessible and simple way.

Simple Guitar Fight

So, to begin with, practice counting exactly to eight: one-two-three-… -eight. It is very important that this account is even (with equal intervals between numbers). So, the fight is striking the strings in turn up and down. One time - down, two - up, three - down, four - up. Repeat several times, consolidate this skill. This is the foundation on which all other combat skills are built.

Another simple guitar fight

One time - down, two - up, three - pause (that is, nothing is played, at this time the right hand is moved down, but without hitting the strings), four - up again. This is the most popular form of combat for noisy companies and songs in the style of Tsoi's "Eighth Grader".

Fight "six" on the guitar

This is one of the most popular types of guitar accompaniment. As you might guess from the name of the fight, there are six strikes on the strings. It is played as follows: one time - down, two - pause (moving the hand up without hitting the strings), three - down, four - up, five - pause (moving the hand down), six - up, on seven - down, eight - up. There were six strikes on the strings in total. This fight is not easy. However, once you learn how to play it, you can play almost any song.

Fight "eight" on the guitar

This type of combat is a little easier. It is played like this: At one time - down, a quick transfer of the hand up, by two - again down, by three - up, by four - down, then again a quick transfer of the hand up, by five - down, by six - up, by seven - down, eight up.

Another interesting fight - Spanish guitar fight

This type of combat is quite difficult for beginners, but practice decides everything. The main thing is to understand the essence and principle, and then reproduce it yourself and repeat until it turns out perfectly. This technique is also called "rasgeado" or "fan" because the technique is visually similar to opening or closing a fan. So, the technique of the Spanish fight. Fingers are brought together in a fist, but not tense. Imagine that you are holding a butterfly in your right hand - at any time you can spread your fingers and release it. In this case, the little finger may not participate in this - it is not needed. As soon as you bring your hand to the strings, start sharply spreading your fingers and hitting the strings with each of them. First straighten the nameless one, then the middle one, then the index one. You have opened your fan. Repeat this in more fast pace to make the strings ring continuously throughout all three beats. Some sources indicate that the little finger can also be used. This will only give the sound fullness and volume. Such a "fan" is called ascending - from the lowest string to the highest (by sound, not by location!). There is another type of Spanish combat - top-down. It is struck from the highest string to the lowest. We now “close” our “open fan” by striking first with the little finger, then with the ring, middle and index fingers from the highest string to the lowest. This again creates a continuous stream of sound. Another option is to combine the first and second types of Spanish combat. First ascending and then descending. This technique is called "ring fan".

There is another type of battle 6, but it is less beautiful, but lighter than the first one (but I strongly point out to you that it is imperative to be able to play the first battle!). This way of playing replaces the stub motion with another. Instead of a plug, we run from top to bottom (3, 2, 1 strings) with our index finger. And you don’t need to do any "ok", and you don’t need to plug the strings.

Fight 6 is used in so many songs. Any, absolutely any guitarist knows this fight, because everyone starts with it. The only problem that can arise during training (most likely will arise) is the "stub" movement. This is not solved by any "special" methods, everything is decided by practice. When I was studying, I always said to myself: "I will do it 1000 times - and then it will work out." And I repeated, over and over again, these boring exercises - and in the end, I was able to do it perfectly.

I wish you the same patience and diligence - and you will succeed! This fight can be learned in a day, spending 5 hours on it. Absolutely anyone can learn it in 2-3 days.

So, to start from starting position of the right hand, you should try to strike the strings with your fingers from top to bottom, as if bending and unbending your fingers. For a clearer execution of this exercise, try hitting the strings with a count.

The next step in learning how to play the guitar should be mastering how to hit the strings from the bottom up. Here we just follow the above tips from the bottom up, as if clinging to the strings. Again, we count when doing the exercise.

Well, now we play the exercises up and down several times under the account. This will be the simplest battle scheme.

Also important point is the muting of the strings. When you hit the strings and they sound, you need to sharply lower your hand on the strings to completely muffle them. Try also hitting the strings up and down and muffling them.
