Shkurlatov Vladimir Nikolaevich -

Honored Coach of Russia.

On the night of July 28-29, 2016, two-time Olympic champion in pole vault Yelena Isinbayeva posted the following entry on her Instagram page: “20 minutes ago I received a negative response from the IAAF Secretary. Unfortunately, they didn't make an exception for me. I was not allowed to go to the Olympic Games in Rio. The miracle didn't happen. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT, THANK YOU SO MUCH! It’s not my destiny to perform in Rio!”.

The personal appeal of the athlete to the leadership of the IAAF was Isinbayeva's last attempt to achieve participation in the 2016 Olympics. Earlier, Russian athletes were denied by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which specified, however, that the International Olympic Committee has the right to admit athletes by its own decision. The IOC, however, chose not to intervene in the situation. The personal appeal to the leadership of the IAAF by Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko did not help either.

34-year-old Yelena Isinbayeva made no secret of the fact that she returned to big-time sports in order to try to win the third Olympic gold in Rio 2016. Apparently, the Russian woman will not be a three-time Olympic champion. By the 2020 Games, Isinbayeva will turn 38 years old - and she categorically rejects the possibility of her participation in the Olympics in another four years.

This means that the brightest sports career of the Russian woman has come to an end. AiF.ru remembered the most important moments in the sports biography of Elena Isinbayeva.

First gold - at the World Youth Games in Moscow

From the age of five, Elena was engaged in gymnastics, but at 15 she was given a verdict - “unpromising”. Isinbayeva's coach Alexander Lisovoy, worrying about the future fate of the ward, once saw on TV the competition of women in pole vaulting. This type of athletics in the 1990s was only gaining popularity.

Lisovoy took Elena to the athletics coach Evgeny Trofimov, believing that the girl may have good prospects in a new form.

Lisovoy was not mistaken - six months later, Elena Isinbayeva won the World Youth Games in Moscow, taking a height of 4.00 m. In 1999, the novice athlete wins the youth world championship with a world record in her age category - 4.10 m.

The first Olympics ended in failure

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, women's pole vault medals were played for the first time. The 18-year-old Isinbayeva was talked about as a rising star. On the eve of the Olympics, the Russian woman won the World Junior Championships with a new world record in the age category - 4.20 m.

However, in Sydney there was an embarrassment. Isinbayeva, from whom they did not expect victory, but expected a worthy performance, did not take a single test height in the qualification and did not make it to the final. The athlete herself explained this by the fact that her coach was not at the competition. Yevgeny Trofimov was not included in the official delegation of the Russian team, and he went to Australia as a tourist. As a result, he got to the stadium only half an hour after everything was over for his ward.

The first world record and "Olympic duel" with Svetlana Feofanova

The next time for Isinbayeva was the time of a fierce pursuit of the leaders of the women's pole. In 2002, a young Russian woman at the European Championships challenges the leader of the Russian team Svetlana Feofanova. With a result of 4.55 m, Isinbayeva remains second.

On July 13, 2003, at the British Grand Prix in Gateshead, Yelena Isinbayeva set her first world record among adults - 4.82 m.

At the 2003 World Championships in Athletics in Paris, Isinbayeva was already considered a favorite, but she only won a bronze medal, losing to Svetlana Feofanova and a German Annika Becker.

The highlight of the 2004 Olympics in Athens was the duel between Feofanova and Isinbayeva. On the eve of the Games, they alternately broke world records and approached the main start in brilliant form.

It was a fantastic fight. Feofanova took the height of 4.70 m, and Isinbayeva, knocking down the bar, moved the remaining two attempts to the line of 4.75 m. But here Feofanova took the height, and Isinbayeva was in for failure. And then Elena transfers her last attempt to a height of 4.80 m.

Perhaps this was a key moment not only in this duel, but in Isinbayeva's entire career. With great difficulty, but Elena still took 4.80 m. Feofanova tried to transfer her attempts to 4.85 m, but did not achieve success. Isinbayeva, already in the rank of Olympic champion, set a new world record - 4.91 m.

5.00 m jump and second Olympic gold

On July 22, 2005, at competitions in London, Elena Isinbayeva for the first time in the history of women's pole vault took a height of 5.00 m.

Isinbayeva has never been distinguished by a simple character. In 2005, she unexpectedly leaves coach Evgeny Trofimov for Vitaly Petrov, former mentor of the legendary Sergei Bubka. The departure was conflicting, Trofimov and Isinbayeva did not communicate with each other for a long time.

The period of 2005-2008 can be considered "golden" in the career of a Russian woman. In fact, Isinbayeva competed with herself, setting more and more world records. Rare defeats were not due to rivals, but only through the fault of the Russian woman herself, who suddenly allowed inexplicable breakdowns.

During this period, Isinbayeva won the indoor world championships three times and outdoors twice.

On August 18, 2008, at the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing, Elena Isinbayeva becomes a two-time Olympic champion. She simply does not notice her rivals - she takes 4.70 m with the first jump, the second jump is 4.85 m, and this is already enough to win. Then Isinbayeva fights with herself: first, on the third attempt, she breaks the Olympic record by jumping 4.95 m, and then sets a new world record in the same way - 5.05 m.

Career break and return to first coach

In 2009, Isinbayeva's performances become "torn" - new world records alternate with outright failures. At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, the athlete did not take a single height. In an interview, Isinbayeva talks about fatigue and loss of concentration. However, on August 28, 2009, at the fifth stage of the Golden League in Zurich, the jumper set her 27th career world record - 5.06 m.

But in April 2010, at the World Indoor Championships in Doha, Isinbayeva did not get into the top three winners and announced the suspension of her career for an indefinite period.

In 2011, a new sensation - Isinbayeva returns to Yevgeny Trofimov. In February 2011, at the first competition after the break, the Russian woman wins with the best result of the season in the world - 4.81 m.

Isinbayeva declares her main goal to win the third Olympic gold. On February 23, 2012, at the Stockholm Grand Prix, the Russian woman set a new indoor world record - 5.01 m. This achievement was the 28th, and, at the moment, the last in Isinbayeva's career.

Failure at the 2012 Olympics: bronze instead of gold

At the 2012 Games in London, Isinbayeva was considered not just the main favorite in the pole vault. The athlete was considered the brightest star of the Russian national team and her gold medal was considered to be practically guaranteed.

Elena found herself under incredible pressure from the expectations of others, which played a cruel joke on her. On August 6, 2012, the day of the Šestovychka tournament, it was rainy and cold in London, which made the random factor extremely high. In such circumstances, the winner is the one on whose side luck is.

It was not Isinbayeva's day. To begin with, she failed the first jump at a height of 4.55 m. Then, pulling herself together, she transferred the attempt to 4.65 m, easily coping with the task. The height of 4.70 m was also confidently taken.

This is where it all ended. Having knocked down the bar twice at a height of 4.75 m, Elena moved her last attempt to 4.80 m, but she failed to repeat the plot of eight years ago. As a result, with a jump of 4.70 m, Isinbayeva finished third.

Victorious departure from sports at the World Championships in Moscow

After the 2012 Olympics, Yelena Isinbayeva announced that she intended to end her career after the 2013 World Championships in Athletics in Moscow. True, the athlete made a reservation, admitting the possibility of another return to big sport after the birth of a child.

On August 13, 2013, at Luzhniki, Isinbayeva was determined in front of her fans to take revenge on the champion and vice-champion of the 2012 Olympics - an American Jennifer Sur and Cubans Yarisley Silva.

The height of 4.75 m, which became victorious for Sur in London, was taken by an American and Isinbayeva on the first attempt, Silva coped with the second. At a height of 4.82 m, Sur and the Russian woman took the bar on the second attempt, the Cuban overcame it on the third.

Everything was decided at a height of 4.89 m. Isinbayeva overcame it on the first attempt, after which both rivals could not repeat this success. The Russian woman, already in the status of world champion, tried three times to break the world record, taking a height of 5.07 m, but failed.

Return for Olympic Rio

On February 12, 2015, Elena Isinbayeva announced the resumption of her sports career. The Russian woman said that her goal is to win the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Skeptics expressed doubts that the Russian woman would be able to rise again to the level of the world's leading athletes. However, the real barrier in the way of Isinbaeva was the disqualification of the All-Russian Federation of Athletics due to a doping scandal. Among other athletes from Russia, Isinbayeva was banned from competing in international competitions.

Until recently, Isinbayeva hoped that the ban would be lifted in relation to "clean" athletes - the jumper's name was never mentioned in connection with doping.

But all appeals, requests, speeches in the Court of Arbitration for Sport were unsuccessful - Elena Isinbayeva was denied the right to speak at the Olympics.

On June 21, 2016, at the Russian Championship in Cheboksary, Elena Isinbayeva entered the jump sector for the last time at official competitions. The two-time Olympic champion won gold with a jump of 4.90 meters, the best result of the season in the world.

After that, even skeptics admitted that 34-year-old Isinbayeva could fight in Rio for the victory.

That Daria Klishina, who competes in the long jump, received permission to compete in international competitions as a neutral athlete. All other applications were rejected. According to Evgeny Trofimov, Honored Coach of Russia, head coach of the Russian athletics team and coach of Elena Isinbayeva, the IAAF has set a goal to denigrate Russian athletics in any way:

“IAAF wants to denigrate the Russian Athletics Federation by all means - by all means available and inaccessible. This is such an interesting move: by allowing Klishina to compete, they want to thereby show that all other people are “unclean”. And, as a justification for her decision, she is allowed only because she trains abroad and passes doping control abroad, Trofimov commented. “These people set themselves the goal of not allowing athletics by any means, with all their might, by all means. Things have come to the point that they are already starting to make a decision to not allow even young athletes. It's a disgrace, of course."

Moreover, Trofimov perceives the current situation as a political order.

“There is such a thing as an epitaph. An epitaph is a tombstone. Here they are organizing an epitaph for Russian athletics. With all my might. This is a political order. They are trying their best to dirty Russian athletics in the most dishonest, dirty way, ”he said. The international federation itself has turned into a "punitive body", which, according to the coach, must be disbanded.

“They behave like an elephant in a china shop: they beat you left, right. They have no presumption of innocence. It is not normal. This is an attack on human rights. This team has been training hard. There was hope that justice would prevail - but it does not, it turns out. They cannot forgive us for the fact that our country is becoming strong and united. They cannot forgive it. These are such primitive options to deal with Russia. This is devoid of all logic, ”Trofimov said.

Also, the coach of Elena Isinbayeva noted that most of the media misreport information about what happened, leaving the impression that the entire Russian team, with the exception of Klishina, is “dirty”: “And when the layman looks:“ Oh, the girl is all clean, and the team is all dirty! » Is it possible to give information like that ?!

Evgeny Trofimov, like Russian athletes, hopes for the upcoming trial in the arbitration court.

“All parameters of the case are in our favor. But I don't know how the lawyers will behave. Although we have strong lawyers, lawyers who will defend our rights to the end,” he stressed.

Evgeny Trofimov, to whom Elena Isinbayeva returned to train, spoke about how the meeting with the student went, plans for the future and the ability to forgive.

- Evgeny Vasilievich, in what condition, physical and psychological, did you find Isinbayeva?
- Lena, obviously, has yet to finally recover from all these events. It will take some time to heal the injuries. We will work with it with extreme caution, without forcing events. The main goal of the season is the August World Championship in Korea, Evgeny Trofimov said in an interview with SE.

What injuries are you talking about?
- Lena has an Achilles ache on her jogging leg. It hurts since the end of last year. It was because of this that she did not go to the European Winter Championship in Paris.

- When did you plan the first summer start?
“Not before June. I would even say at the end of June.

- You have already had several joint trainings. What did you think of it?
- It is one: as if Lena did not leave anywhere. The classes were held against a good emotional background, the mutual energy is wonderful. All in all, I'm pleasantly surprised. But why be surprised? Lena is my student, with whom I worked for 8 years starting from the age of 15.

— Where in Volgograd do you train?
- In the arena of the Academy of Physical Culture. The conditions here are very good. There is a swimming pool, a gym, a sector with modern coverage. Different tracks, inclined and elastic.

Does Isinbayeva live in Volgograd with her parents?
She has her own apartment.

It is known that you met last Sunday. How did everything go?
“A funny thing happened the other day. My neighbor, who goes to church regularly, reminded me that this Sunday is forgiveness. "We must," he says, "forgive everyone." And on Sunday my phone rang: "Evgeny Vasilyevich, Lena Isinbayeva is bothering you. Can we talk?" We met. She said that she left Petrov and asked to come back to me.

Didn't you give a reason?
There were certain reasons, but I don’t want to make them public. Lena said this: "If you don't take me now, I'm done with the sport."

Did you immediately agree?
- I replied that I needed to think a little, listen to myself. With his wife, and she is also my coach, to consult. On March 8, we met again, at our home. Lena came with her parents. We talked again, and I gave my consent.

How difficult was it for you to say "yes" after you broke up not very well in 2005?
- Time heals. More than five years have passed since that moment, and Lena was at an age at which people tend to make mistakes. Of course, the first two or three years after her departure was hard for me. But gradually the pain went away. And then, we normalized relations with her not on this Sunday. Over the years, Lena made several timid attempts to establish contact with me. We met several times when she came to Volgograd.

- What were they talking about?
- For the first time, you can say about nothing. So, for 10-15 minutes we talked on general topics.

- May I ask what kind of relationship you have with Vitaly Petrov?
- We do not talk. At all. I don't see the need for this. Once we were friends, went to visit each other, but later he acted incorrectly towards me.

- Petrov, apparently, will remain the head coach of the Russian national pole vault team. That is, he will formally be considered Isinbayeva's mentor. Will you have professional communication?
I don't need that kind of communication. I have my own training base, where the conditions are wonderful. In addition, Lena grew up on my method. Everything that she has managed to show since 2005 is just echoes of the foundation that we laid with her at an early age.

- Do not you feel sorry for Petrov, who ended up in a situation somewhat similar to yours in 2005?
- You see, I was very sorry for Vitaly when Sergey Bubka left him. Once I even took active steps to reconcile them. But now I don't feel sorry. Moreover, I am convinced that Petrov will be all right. He leads the training base of the International Federation of Athletics in Formio. Athletes come and go. This will continue. I'm not sure that Petrov is experiencing the same feelings that I once experienced when my beloved student left me, who went with me from a zero result to a 5-meter height. God gave, God took.

- How do you still see the main motive that guided Isinbayeva, leaving Petrov?
- Undoubtedly, this is a sports motive. Lena wants to end her career triumphantly: to win the Olympic Games in London and the 2013 World Championship in Moscow. But at some point, she realized that if she left everything as it was, she would slide into a hole. This is not my opinion. This is what she told me. From myself I will say something else. The fact that Lena managed to step over herself, to go for such changes, I personally have deep respect. She is truly a great athlete and a strong person. And everyone makes mistakes. We all walk under God.

P.S. Today at 22.15 on TV channel Russia-2 in the program "Week of Sports" there will be a story in which Yevgeny Trofimov and Yelena Isinbayeva will answer questions from the program correspondent.

March 14, 2011

Lenochka Isinbayeva, beautiful, sincere, courageous. It was the last trait of character that caused her representatives and herself to explain herself to the public for the second time in recent times. On August 15, the Russian champion track and field athlete spoke out about homosexuals and supported the "anti-gay" law adopted in Russia. Tolerant Western media immediately attacked the poor thing, bringing down on her a flurry of criticism for intolerance, after which Lenochka had to apologize. The Church, by the way, came out in her defense.

Here Lena would understand that she is not an amateur athlete who can say anything, and no one will notice it, but a world star, whose words will be taken away by the media and bloggers, and procrastinate for a long time. But no, the brave girl again made everyone talk about herself.

On August 21, Isinbayeva, along with her coach Yevgeny Trofimov, gave a press conference at the Dynamo society in Volgograd. Two-time Olympic champion, seven-time world champion, holder of 28 world records in pole vaulting, Yelena Isinbayeva, once again confirmed her intention to leave the sport, temporarily or permanently, she will decide later. Yevgeny Trofimov, on the other hand, hopes that she will continue her career, since her potential has not been exhausted; in training, Isinbayeva takes a height of 5 meters 11 centimeters. The beautiful athlete joked that there are three hooks on her wall of honor, two of which already have Olympic gold medals (Athens and Beijing). On the third, she wanted to hang the recent “gold” of the World Championship in Moscow, but then she changed her mind - all of a sudden she would participate in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

I will neither sell nor donate poles. Let them rest for now, but close by, Lena smiles.

Lena will devote the next time to her personal life, she dreams of a child, she does not disclose the name of the groom, and she speaks vaguely about the wedding. But if it takes place, then in Monaco, and not in Volgograd.

I will have many obligations in Volgograd, but I want to live in Monaco. I will come here to visit the coach. There is no base in Volgograd, not only in athletics, but also in other sports. Volgograd is a city of victories, but all this needs to be developed, as, for example, in Kazan. There, do what you want, do any sport. And what to do here, in the city, when we have just a poor Volgograd? Terrible, the old city has become. Degraded.

Elena Isinbayeva: “Volgograd has become a terrible impoverished city. I will live in Monaco.Elina EMELYANOVA

But, Evgeny Trofimov, coach of Elena Isinbayeva, who is also a confidant, believes that Elena was misunderstood.

I was at a press conference. Lena did not have a dismissive attitude towards the city. This is the city of her youth, the city that raised her to the pinnacle of fame. The best years have passed here. But she, as a person of the world, can also live in Moscow - she has an apartment there, in Monaco she has a rented apartment, in Volgograd, too, an apartment, a big house. She can live here and there. And at a press conference, she spoke about bad roads, that little attention is paid to the development of the city. But this is actually the case. Only recently has a positive movement begun. And she leaves not because everything is very bad here, but because there is a need to change the situation. She had only one desire - to pay attention to the fact that our city, the southern one, should be green and well-maintained. She said what others are afraid to say. But she loves her city, and most importantly, she does not leave. She will live here and come there. Maybe textually she was not so accurate, and her words were turned upside down. In addition, she has a charitable foundation in Volgograd. She stays here. She doesn't run away.

Evgeny TROFIMOV, coach of Elena Isinbayeva

As for politics, the athlete categorically refused this. She sees herself only in sports, in the near future she will take up the duties of mayor of the Olympic village in Sochi. Then, perhaps, she will continue this line in the Athletics Federation or the Ministry of Sports, she does not exclude the possibility of coaching.

VERBATIM

- Where do you plan to be based: live and work?

Well… I think in Monaco. And I will definitely come to Volgograd. Evgeny Vasilievich (coach - Ed.) to visit, family too. In Volgograd I will have many obligations, but I want to live in Monaco, in Moscow. And Volgograd is like a Motherland and it is always a pleasure to come here.

- What needs to be done so that people like you do not leave here?

We need the interaction of the authorities, so that they listen to us, so that they listen to us, here we need to create conditions, we need to create bases. Necessarily. Not only in athletics, but also in other sports. Here's how it is now: the city of Volgograd is the city of Victories. Victories are associated with victory in sports, studies, somewhere else. It is necessary to develop, as in Kazan. It would be possible to live in Kazan with pleasure, do what you want there, do any sport. What to do here in the city? When we just have a poor city? Beggar, terrible, the old city has become. He just slowly and slowly degraded. The roads are terrible - you are tormented to fix the car. If you buy a foreign car, that's all, kirdyk to this car. It is necessary to create normal conditions for life, then people will return. They will be happy to go to work and honestly give all the best for 8 - 10 hours a day, despite the fact that they were late at work. Teachers will be happy to teach if their salary is high. Coaches will be happy to train if the salary is decent. Doctors will treat if there is a salary. I understand that this is a problem not only in our region. But in our city there are simply no living conditions. All athletes are looking for where it is convenient and good. I trained at a base in Italy. Everything is primitively simple there, but everything is there: a fenced area, an arena, a stadium, a restaurant, a canteen, rooms for living, a rehabilitation center - all this occupies an area of several thousand square meters. What, we don't have space? There is. Only nobody needs it. And no one hears us. They waved at us. And it's time to collect what has been sown, and there is a shish with oil. There is nothing. They didn’t sow anything .. and only I stand for the Volgograd region. All the rest have a reset. Why don't I have a reset? Yes, because I never aspired to earn more money. I always believed, I was sure that our city, our region would appreciate my services. But never nothing.
